Chapter Forty Four ~ Eyes of the Beholder

Lucy and Natsu walked around campus hand in hand. It had been a busy weekend as the two of them had done quite a bit of celebrating. She had enjoyed the time alone with him because she knew they were going to be bombarded as soon as they arrived back on campus today.

"Coomme onnn Luce!" Natsu whined as he turned, walking backwards, and looked at her.

"Natsu, I said I would think about it." She said for the fiftieth time today.

"But Princess it just makes more sense." He whined. They walked up to their friends who were all standing around waiting on them.

Gray looked at Natsu and then turned his head towards Lucy, "What is he going on about now?" He asked pointing a finger at Natsu.

"He wants me to move in with him like yesterday," Lucy said rolling her eyes. She loved him whole heartedly but when she was with him he had her so preoccupied that she wasn't able to get any studying done.

"So whats the problem?" Erza asked looking at her blonde friend. "He is right it does kind of make sense, after all, you're engaged to be married now."

Lucy looked at her red headed friend, "Yeah but it was only two days ago! I haven't even had a chance to start thinking about our wedding yet, much less about moving. Honestly, it all still feels really surreal right now. I'm still trying to believe it myself." She said looking at the ring on her hand.

"By the way Lucy," Levy chirped proudly, " Let us see the ring again!" She grinned as she looked at Gajeel then turned her head back towards her friend. Lucy held her hand up and all the girls circled her squealing and carrying on about how pretty it was, and how they hope they get to be as lucky as her.

Natsu grinned as he stepped back giving the girls some space only to get a slap to the back of the head. "What the hell?!" He yelled turning to look at his friends.

Gajeel looked at him sarcastically and half raised his hand, "I did it, you idiot, gonna do something about it?"

"Asshole," Natsu mumbled, "What the hell you hit me for?" He asked.

"You know how many problems we got now, thanks to your proposal?" Jellal stated, "The girls won't leave us alone now, hinting about how we should do the same thing."

Natsu laughed. Gray looked at him, "It's not funny cinder block. Juvia has all but threatened me to propose now, and it's all your fault cause you proposed first."

Natsu laughed harder. "Hey, in case ya'll forgot, ya'll helped me with everything!"

Gray grimaced and mumbled, "Shut up stupid! The girls don't know that and if they find out, then it will be even harder to get them off our backs!"

Everyone stood around talking a little longer until it was time to head towards their classes. Lucy walked hand in hand with Natsu as he escorted her to her first class of the day. They were so caught up in each other and their own conversation that neither of them noticed the eyes that appeared to follow them around campus with every move they made.

When they arrived at the classroom Natsu leaned in and gave Lucy a sweet little kiss. "I love you princess, I'll meet you in the Canteen at one." He winked at her and then turned and walked off. She sighed at the bliss she felt in that moment.

As she turned to walk into the room she was bumped by a familiar white haired girl. "Lisanna," she said in a monotone voice as she looked at the girl.

"Bitch!" Lisanna spat back at her. Lucy just simply rolled her eyes as she walked passed her to her friends who were already seated in the back of the classroom. Everyone looked at the white haired girl as Lucy sat her chin in her hand making sure that she could clearly see the engagement ring on her finger.

Lisanna walked over studying the blonde's hand. "What the hell is that?!" She yelled.

"OH, you didn't hear?" Juvia asked mockingly. "Natsu asked Lucy to marry him at a big party for Lucy's birthday. Everyone was there." She simply smiled at Lisanna as she watched her try to muffle back her anger.

Lisanna starred at Lucy as the rage flew through her. Lucy looked at the girl as she calmly spoke, "It must eat you up inside, Lisanna."

"And what is that?" She said her eyes cutting to Lucy.

"That you went through all that trouble to tear me and him apart. I told you then you won't seperate us, I will fight for him, and honey, he fights for me just as hard. And now we're stronger then ever, and our bond doesn't break. Yet, you, well you've been forgotten." Lucy replied.

Lisanna seethed at the words that came from Lucy's mouth. "Who do you think you are?" She asked with hatred dripping in her words.

"I am the future Mrs. Dragneel." Was all Lucy said as she turned away from her and picked her conversation back up with her friends, as though Lisanna had never even been there in the first place.

Lisanna backed off as a mixture of emotions ran through her. "You will NOT keep him," She mumbled to herself, her eyes never wavering from the blonde at the back of the room. "One way or another Natsu Dragneel will be mine."
