Chapter Fifty Two~ A Long Awaited Return
Lucy cried.
She cried with relief, she cried for joy, she cried for the sake of their unborn child. She couldn't help it. As she starred down into those onyx eyes that she had waited for so long to look into, all she could do was cry. She felt as if the world had finally given her a moment of peace. A moment she had been terrified would never come back to her. She had been so afraid that she was going to lose him that she couldn't control herself when he finally had come back. She leaned down putting her lips against his. He eagerly responded as he kissed her back, slowly moving his hand up to her face.
A new wave of emotions fell upon her as she felt his warmth once again against her body. The fire they had always had was set anew the moment she felt his hand on her cheek. She had longed for his touch so much over the past four and a half months. "Natsu..." She cried. "I was so afraid I had lost you..."
Natsu looked up at her with a hint of sadness in his eyes. "I could never leave you Princess. We have too many plans for our future. I'm sorry that I scared you my beautiful star." She felt his hand slide down to her neck and cradle it.
Mr. Dragneel walked over to the couple. "Lucy, what do you say we help Natsu sit up and then you can catch him up with everything?" He asked with a large grin. Lucy blushed. She knew he meant to tell him about the baby. Well she was going to have to it wasn't like he wouldn't be able to tell the minute his hand went around her waist anyway. Lucy nodded her head in agreement and moved out of the way as she watched her future father in law, and Gray, slowly help Natsu into a sitting position.
Natsu looked around the room at everything taking it all in. There were flowers, pictures, balloons, teddy bears, and cards everywhere he looked. He saw Gray, Lucy, and both of his parents standing there looking at him. "What happened to me exactly?" He asked. "I remember the race, and the car, but nothing after that."
Gray looked down at his friend. "The car that night hit you. You were thrown from your bike and brought here. You've been here ever since. We were all so scared, we didn't know if you were going to come out of it or not."
"Who hit me?" Natsu asked. "How long was I out?" He had a million and one questions running through his brain in that moment, but his head felt like it was spinning and he couldn't keep them all straight.
This time Mr. Dragneel spoke. "We're not sure on that part, son, but I have my P.I. looking into it and I will find out. We suspect that it may have been intentional. That whoever did it was out to try and kill you, but instead they put you in a coma."
"A coma?" Natsu looked at his father confused. "Seriously? Again, how long was I out?" He asked with a hint of anger and confusion in his voice.
His mother walked over and took his hand. "Natsu, you have been asleep for just over four months now. Gray called us right after it happened, and we flew straight here. We were worried for your sake. And for the sake of Lucy and Gray too. We came to take care of our family, no one here ever stopped believing that you would be okay. Lucy and Gray never left your side. We literally had to force Lucy to go home at first, so we all worked things out to make sure we were here for you the moment you woke back up." She smiled as she looked at her son.
Lucy starred at Natsu. She was frozen in a state of happiness when his eyes trailed back to her and caught them. "Lucy, you really never left me?" Natsu asked as he reached his hand out, taking hers and pull her to his chest. She laid her head against it and listened to his heart beat. It sounded so full of life again like it had before his accident.
"Of course not, Natsu. Why would I leave you? You're my dragon right?" She smiled into his chest as she breathed in. "Plus I love you and we need you. So I stayed to make sure you came home to us." She looked up into his eyes.
A look of confusion came across his face. Like he had heard this before, but he was trying to remember where from. She smiled at him as she leaned in and kissed him. "Natsu, there is something else you need to know."
"What's wrong?" Natsu asked confusion still plastering his face. Lucy took his hand in hers.
"You remember before your accident we were waiting for the doctor to call me with test results right?" She asked looking in his eyes. You could see his fear that something was wrong.
He thought about it for a moment before he spoke. Everything was fuzzy to him, but he could vaguely remember that. "Yeah, I think I do.." He answered searching her eyes for the answer.
"Well that's what I was going to tell you after the race that night." She spoke softly as she pulled his hand and gently laid it against her stomach. She watched Natsu's face as his eyes got big for a moment as he felt the roundness of her belly and then almost popped out of his head when he felt the movement of her stomach. He looked down at his hand and then back up to her eyes.
"I was going to tell you that night that you're going to be a daddy, Natsu. We're going to have a daughter. That's what I meant earlier when I said you had to come home to us." She watched his face for a reaction as he sat there starring at her belly. She sat nervously waiting as she started at his expressionless face. "Natsu?" She finally asked.
Natsu looked up as a smile crossed his face, he pulled her close to him and kissed her sweetly. "I'm sorry I haven't been with you my princess. But I swear I will never leave my girls again."
