The Vyrisses
*(F/n)'s POV*
I woke up to sunlight streaming in through my window. I sat up, feeling a little sore. I looked around the room, expecting to see Sebastian, but he was no where to be seen. 'He's never late... where is he?' I looked around the room once more. 'Wait... why am I in one of the guest rooms?' I climbed out of the bed and walked down to the kitchen in search of Sebastian. I found him washing dishes. "Sebastian? Why the hell haven't you woken me up?"
He turned around, surprised. "Lady (F/n)! You're up!"
I rolled my eyes. "Sebastian, that's not funny. Don't call me that. Answer the question."
Sebastian stared at me for a moment before a look of realization crossed his face. "My apologies, young master. You looked so peaceful, so I wanted you to sleep for a while longer."
I sighed. "Fine. Hurry up and bring me my breakfast. I'll be in my bedroom." I said, and walked out of the kitchen. I stopped for a moment, my vision spinning. I placed a hand on the wall, steadying myself. After a moment it was gone. 'What was that?' I thought, shaking my head. 'I'm probably just tired...'
*Sebastian's POV*
(F/n) walked out of the kitchen, leaving me alone once more. "This is bad... Their memories are getting switched... I must hurry to set them straight.... but how?" I thought for a moment, then smiled. "Undertaker."
"The Vyrisses? I've never heard of such a race." I said, folding my arms. I was standing just inside of the door, not wanting to enter his parlor any further. The Undertaker was sitting on a gleaming black coffin.
He giggled, taking a bite of his biscuit. "They have only started appearing in the recent 16 years or so. Seems as though they're a new species from a failed experiment."
'That's when (F/n) was born...' I thought.
"They get close to a victim, and steal their memories. Once the victim has almost all of the Vyris's memories, the Vyris shifts into a different form, and eats the soul of the victim, leaving the body behind to rot."
"Is there any way to cure people that they have affected, or, perhaps even, cure the Vyris itself?"
The man walked over to his book shelf, pulling one off of the shelf. "In the records that I have kept, there is not much about curing the Vyris. It's victim, however, is curable. Their soul is hidden within the Vyris's soul. The Vyris's soul acts almost as a force field around the victim's soul. You must retrieve it, and return it to the victim. On almost all of the cases, the Vyris died in the process of saving the victim."
"What happened in the other cases?" I asked him, reaching for the book.
He quickly pulled it away, smiling madly. "In the other case, the Vyris miraculously survived. The witness claimed that somehow, the Vyris's soul was "stitched back together". I cannot guarantee the Vyris's safety, but the victim should regain their memories."
I put a gloved hand under my chin. "So I must decide between the master's life, and (F/n)'s..."
The Undertaker laughed. "Maybe I will finally get to sell the Earl one of my special coffins!" He turned around and looked at a few of the coffins. "What size do you think he would need, butler? A small?" He asked, turning around.
But I was already long gone.
