The Stand Off

The Grim Reapers H.Q. This is not my first time being here, but I guess it was for Ciel. He was looking around and I had to keep pulling him along. I looked over at Dr. Fujimoto's office. as William walked over to us.
The windows of the office were covered in papers. Not just any papers. Research papers. As if someone had taped them all over so that they could analyze everything at once.
Or to hide something.
William cleared his throat, gaining my attention. "If you are here to see Dr. Fujimoto, I'm afraid you must leave. He has requested that he not be bothered, being on the verge of a great breakthrough in his research."
I froze a little. "And... what research would that be?"
"Well.... He does research on humans, so-"
I walked past William, rudely cutting him off and tried the doorknob on his office door. It was locked. I turned to Sebastian. "Would you do the honors?"
He smiled and walked over, despite the protests of Will and broke the door down. As soon as he did, something flew out of the room. It was too fast for my eyes to catch what it was. "EVERYONE OUT!" William shouted. The lobby cleared rather quickly, the staff running outside. As soon as they were all out, Will opened a small box on the wall and slammed his hand down on the button. Big, steel sheets fell down over the windows and doors. Red, blinking lights flashed above us, and a loud, screeching alarm blared. I covered my ears from the sound. The creature landed on the ground in the middle of me, Sebastian, Ciel, and William.
She had the arms of an alligator, one leg of an alligator, and the other of a horse. She had a grey cat tail with a white tip, two different insect wings, along with a deer antler and a gazelle horn. It smiled brightly, gazing at the three of us. "Wow... I've never seen other people before!" It bubbled, "Daddy! Come here!"
Dr. Fujimoto hurried out of his office, his eyes wide with fear. "Rose! What are you doi-" He froze when he saw Sebastian and me. "Rose," He growled sternly, narrowing his eyes as us, "Get back inside. Now."
She didn't move, but instead whimpered. "But Dad... I've never been outside of the office or your house before! Maybe I could just-"
"You're his daughter?" I asked, shaking a little. Sebastian noticed and firmly grabbed my hand.
"Yes! Dr. Fujimoto is my-"
"Rose is my daughter. I created her." He said with a smile.
William's brow furrowed. "This is your, "Important research"? You were creating this?"
Rose pouted. "What's wrong with me?"
"Never mind." Ciel shook his head, "Dr. Fujimoto, you're under arrest."
Dr. Fujimoto smirked. "Oh really? And who here has the authority to do that?"
"Technically," Will took a step forward, "Ciel and I do."
"Rose. Come here." Dr. Fujimoto ordered, still smirking.
Rose, like an obedient dog, flew over to him. "Rose, I want you to keep them busy. We will be moving away." He said, turning back to his office. "I will go grab our things. Do NOT let them in."
Rose gleamed brightly. "Yes sir!" And with that, she flew up into the air, looking down on us. "Now. WhIcH oF yOu ShOuLd I kIlL fIrSt?"
I dove for the floor as Rose dove down at me, her alligator claws barely missing my back. "Ciel!" I called, scrambling to my feet.
He nodded, knowing what to do. "Sebastian! This is an order! Capture that creature!" He cried over the alarm, tearing off his eye patch to reveal the purple seal.
Sebastian smiled. "Yes, my lord."
Rose giggled. "Oh! A demon! My first time out of the office and I get to meet a powerful creature!" She landed on the ground near William's office door. "But it's too bad. I won't be able to see the full extent of your powers due to your leash to this human boy named Ciel."
"Hey." Suddenly, a sharp, long pole flew at the girl. She side-stepped it as it dug into the wall. "Don't forget that I'm still here. And I do not appreciate you forcing me to evacuate all of my staff. This is going to result in a very non-productive day, and force me to do overtime."
She tilted her head sideways. "Overtime? Staff?!" Her eyes grew wide with excitement. "You mean there's more of you here?!"
"Ciel!" I cried. Rose quickly looked over at the boy, who now held a gun in his hand. It was aimed directly at her.
She tilted her head further. "What is that?"
Ciel smirked. "It's called a 'gun'. It will kill you if I pull this trigger." He warned.
I looked around. 'Where did Sebastian go...?' I shook my head. 'Never mind that.' "Ciel!" I cried again, taking a step forward, "don't do it!"
Rose's expression softened.
William's eyebrows rose.
Ciel's eyebrows furrowed.
"What?" they all asked.
I took a deep breath, walking towards Rose carefully. "Listen... Rose... You're not alone... I... I was one of his experiments too."
"But (F/n)," William started, "We don't allow our staff to-"
"I know that it's not allowed to create these sort of things." I said, turning to him. "And you both probably want to kill her. Trust me. I do too."
A sad look flashed across Rose's features before it turned to anger. "Why? I never did anything to you."
I turned to her, taking a few more steps forward. "Because you are the product of what I hate the most. That evil, disgusting man you call your 'father'. But... despite that fact... I want to help you." I took a few more steps forward, until I was only two large steps from her. "Rose." I offered, extending my hand out to her, "Please. Come with us. I want to save y-"
"ROSE!" Called a male voice. Rose's head shot up before I could turn around. Her eyes widened but quickly went back to normal as she grabbed me by the neck. She turned me around so that I could see what was going on. Sebastian had a silver butter knife up to Dr. Fujimoto's throat and had forced him out of the office.
Ciel had horrified eyes pinned on me. "(F/n)!" He yelped.
I gasped for air and tried to speak, but no words came out, so I glared at the claw over my throat. "Well, well." Rose giggled, "It seems we have ourselves, what the westerners call, a 'stand off'."
"It seems so." Sebastian growled.
"Rose! Kill her!" Dr. Fujimoto struggled.
Ciel's grip tightened on the gun. "Don't you dare." He warned harshly.
Sebastian inched the knife closer to Dr. Fujimoto's throat. "Let (F/n) go."
Rose's grip tightened around my throat, causing spots to dance across my vision. The sound of the alarm was hurting my head "S....Se...bas...tian!" I struggled to say. He looked up at me, but Rose wouldn't have it.
She smiled, spreading her transparent wings and soaring up into the air.
Ciel kept his gun locked on her. "Sebastian," he urged, "I might hit (F/n)! Do something, before Rose kills her!"
Sebastian smirked. "Ms. Rose?"
Rose looked down at him with one clawed arm around my waist, the other tight around my throat. "Yes?"
"Why would you kill (F/n)?" He asked.
"Why would you ask such a stupid question?" She asked, turning serious. "Because she is my enemy." Her grip tightened more, and I couldn't breathe. Sebastian needed to talk faster.
"Who told you she was your enemy?" He questioned, "Because you do not know her. The only things you know about her are the things that Dr. Fujimoto has told you. But you don't actually know for yourself."
Ciel nodded. "That's right. You don't know anything about her. For all you know, she could be the queen of England."
Rose laughed. "This girl? Not possible."
"Oh, but she is adored by many, just like the queen. Mainly by one, very powerful being, who does not appreciate other people's dirty hands touching her." He added, "And they will all come after you, should any harm come to her.
Rose looked from Sebastian to me, her eyes gleaming. "You two are in love?! That's so cute! What's it like?"
I glared deeply at her slowly blurring figure. 'Where... Where did William...run off to...?'
Sebastian seemed to notice this. "She is not your enemy. She is a very good person. She is more kind than any creature that has set foot on this earth." He quickly negotiated, "And she does not deserve to die. Let her go, and your 'father' will be set free."
Rose seemed to turn the thought over in her head. She had made up her mind. "Fine-"
"NO!" I screeched weakly. "No... th-that man... cannot be allowed... t-to "go free"... He... must pay! Rose, p-please... you have no idea what h-he has...done...!"
The creature furrowed her brow and slammed me against the wall. "I don't care! He created me!"
"He killed people!!!" I choked, "I-Including... my parents! He set m-my mansion on fire!" My voice cracked. I looked into Rose's eyes and she looked into mine. I shifted a little so that Sebastian and Ciel couldn't see me. I mouthed the words, 'I will save you. Please. And your father will live. He will just go to jail.'
Rose frowned. "How can you promise that?" She asked aloud.
"Because," I answered, "I will personally see to it."
Rose thought about this, as Sebastian and Ciel eyed me, confused. Rose's face lit up excitedly and she dropped me. I fell to the floor from about 20 feet in the air. I gasped and coughed, trying to refill my lungs with air. Bruises were already appearing on my neck. I glanced up to see Sebastian looking at me, his eyes asking, 'Are you okay?' I nodded.
"So," Rose said, landing next to me and kneeling down, "Will you let me see the outside world? If I let you take him to jail?"
"Rose!" Dr. Fujimoto sounded offended. "What are you doing?! I-"
Sebastian covered the doctor's mouth. I nodded a thanks to him before turning back to Rose. "Y-Yes. I will take you out into the town. You can see everything. And as long as you're not going to harm anyone, I will find you a house in the country for you to live in."
"Hold on," Said a male voice. I looked around from my spot on the ground. William had reappeared and was standing with a few other people. They looked like police officers, but they were wearing blue uniforms. 'Must be a special type of cop for the reapers...' I thought. "She cannot be allowed to just "go free". She is an illegal experiment. She must be either taken for research, or extermination." Will said sternly.
Rose looked back at me. "You... You lied to me?"
I shook my head. "No. I didn't lie to you. William, this is not necessary. She is not dangerous."
"Are you kidding me?" Ciel piped up, "She just tried to kill you, and you say that she's not dangerous?"
I looked up into Rose's eyes before standing up shakily. "Yes. She wouldn't harm anyone. I know she wouldn't. I trust her."
Sebastian narrowed his eyes but said nothing. William crossed his arms. "If you truly want this, you must keep an eye on her, and will be responsible for her actions."
I nodded. "Done."
Ciel slowly lowered his gun, speechless. William ushered the police over to Dr. Fujimoto, taking him from Sebastian. Rose gave him a sad look. "I'm sorry father... I-I'll come visit you!" She said as the men took him out of the building.
Sebastian walked over to me, tilting my chin upwards to look at my neck. "Are you alright?"
I nodded, blushing slightly. "Y-Yeah... I'm fi-"
Before I could finish, he hugged me. "Thank goodness...."
I blushed harder, noticing that Rose was staring at us. "S-So... What now?"
Ciel walked over to us. "Well. If you trust her, then I do too." He turned to Rose. "You have a job at my manor if you want it."
Rose gleamed. "You live in a manor?! That's amazing! What would I do?"
"You would be the second maid." Sebastian answered.
Rose nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, please!"
Ciel smiled a little. "Then it's settled. You'll start tomorrow. Sebastian, you are in charge of teaching her everything she needs to know."
Something in my stomach twisted. 'Wait... They'll be spending a lot of time together?'
Rose gave a small squeal of happiness and hugged Sebastian, who looked very uncomfortable. "Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm looking forward to working with you! It'll be fun!"
I looked over at Ciel who looked back at me.
This was going to be anything but fun.
