"The Game's Afoot"
You sat down across from Ciel's desk, nervously fiddling with the files from William in your lap. "What did you want to speak to me about?"
Ciel crossed his arms. "Well, first things first, where did you take my butler yesterday. And do not lie to me because I will ask Sebastian if it is true." We warned.
You told him exactly where you went and what you found out. By the end, Ciel had a grim look on his face.
"How could he..."steal" his friends memories... How is that even possible?" He asked, confused.
You shrugged. "I don't know either."
Ciel turned to Sebastian who was smirking behind him. "Do you know anything about this?"
"I only can guess on the matter. I do not know for sure."
"Well what do you think?" Ciel asked, irritated.
"I believe someone was trying to frame Mr. (L/n)
You shook your head. "But why would anyone want to frame him? He was a good and honest man before... the fire."
"Maybe they were after something." Ciel suggested, sipping a bit of his afternoon tea.
You thought about it. 'I just don't think anyone would do that... my dad was... such a good man...'
"Is there anything of value that someone might have wanted?" Sebastian questioned.
You shook your head again. "Not that I know of... and he didn't keep secrets from me."
Ciel lowered his eyes a little. "How would you know? You were little when he died."
You sat up a little straighter. "My dad told me everything and so did my mother. They trusted me and I trust them still." You defended.
Ciel held up his hands. "I was only suggesting the idea."
You breathed out a little and sat back in your chair. "I know... I'm sorry for getting upset."
Ciel waved his hand. "Don't be. I know how....touchy the subject can be..." He said, looking at his deep blue ring.
The room was silent for a few moments until Ciel spoke again. "Well, I believe we have a case, then." He said, reaching his slender hands out for the files.
You gave him a confused look. "A case?"
"Yes. I'll admit, I'm not too fond of taking cases that the queen herself does not give me, but I am willing to help." Ciel smiled.
You stood up, walked over to him and hugged the boy, almost crushing his small, fragile body. "Thank you, Ciel..."
The boy sputtered, "Y-Your welcome! Ow... You're...crushing me..."
You quickly let go, blushing. "S-Sorry..."
Sebastian chuckled, earning a glare from Ciel. "It's settled then. We'll go out at 3 and start searching for more clues." Ciel said, straightening some papers. "For now, you have the rest of the day to yourself. I have a business to run."
You stood up, bowed, and walked out of the room. As soon as you made it to the hallway, you started skipping. 'I might actually figure out what happened!' you thought, closing your eyes.
Big Mistake.
Because your eyes were closed, you crashed into a servant who was helping to carry a painting that you hadn't seen before. You stood up and helped the blonde person up. "I'm so sorry! Are you okay?"
Finni nodded. "Yes, thank you. You should be more careful next time."
You didn't respond. Your wide eyes were fixed on the painting that now leaned against the wall. It was a painting of a tall man with hair like Ciel's. Every part of you froze. "F...Father?"
