"It Was Only Just a Dream"
I sighed, leaning back against the wall of the dark hallway. I had just finished with my chores for the night, and decided to step back and take a breath. With Sebastian teaching Rose, I've had to take over most of his chores. Let me just say this: It really does take a demon to do everything that he does. I slowly slid down the wall to sit on the floor. I tucked my feet in underneath me and curled up on the floor. The coldness of the floor slowly seeped through my clothes and froze my skin.
I shivered. It has been about a month and two weeks since my soul was split. I still have my weak moments, but lately, I've been starting to notice that something wasn't right. I've been having trouble sleeping, and when no one is around, I'll lose control, and just breakdown, crying. I think I may have lost a bit of my sanity when we split.
I slowly closed my eyes, hearing footsteps coming towards me. "(F/n)? Are you alright?"
It was Rose. Sebastian must have been done teaching her for the day. I heard another set of footsteps coming towards me. "What happened?" This voice was Sebastian's.
"I-I don't know. I found her on the floor. I think she's just sleeping." Rose replied softly.
I groaned. "She was asleep, until you two came along..."
Sebastian chuckled. "It is not good for you to sleep on the floor. You'll catch a cold."
I slowly opened my eyes to find that Sebastian had his arm around Rose's waist. My eyes widened. "S...Sebastian?"
He smiled evilly at me. "We're going out. We'll be back later." He grinned mischievously at Rose. "Much later."
I could feel the fire inside of me rising rapidly. I stood up, fully waking myself, and jumped at Rose, trying to attack her. Sebastian hit me, knocking me against the wall. I started to cry, uncontrollably. "Wh...why..."
I felt someone leaning over me. "(F/n)....(F/n), wake up." The person started to shake me. "(F/n), you must wake up!"
I opened my tear-filled eyes to see Sebastian leaning over me. Rose was no where to be found. I sat up a little, shivering from the coldness of the floor. "S...Sebastian..."
He nodded. "You fell asleep on the floor in the hallway. Perhaps you should take tomorrow off."
I shook my head. "No... It's okay. I'm fine."
Sebastian gently took a small strand of my (h/c) hair in his gloved hand. "You've been doing so much lately... The master is very appreciative. And so am I."
I smiled weakly before struggling to my feet, waking the rest of my body up. "Um...w-where's Rose?"
"In bed," he replied, "It's already 2 o'clock in the morning."
I yawned. "Oh... I-I'm sorry to keep you up, then..."
Sebastian took my hand. His gloved digits were warm, and calming to my frozen ones. "It's not a problem. After all, if I didn't keep an eye on my lover, what sort of butler, or gentleman would I be?"
I blushed lightly as Sebastian walked me to my room. When we got there, neither of us opened the door. We just stood in the hallway, our hands slowly growing sweaty. We just stayed there, staring at the floor. I was finally the first one to give. I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him tightly. "Hey... Sebastian?"
He wrapped his arms around me, staring out of the window. "Yes?"
"I.... um...." I hesitated to ask him a question, scared of the answer. "Do... Do you..." I took a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves. "Do you love me?" I mentally kicked myself. That wasn't the question. I chickened out and didn't ask the real question that was plaguing my mind.
Sebastian looked down at me, smiling. "More than anything or any one in the universe." He replied, kissing my forehead. "I think you should get some rest." He suggested, opening the door to my room. He gave me one last squeeze, before detaching himself from me and bowing. "Goodnight, my love."
I nodded. "Goodnight to you as well." And with that, I walked into my room, laying on the bed.
I mentally kicked myself multiple times. 'How hard is it to ask for help? There's obviously something wrong with me, so why can't I just ask for help?'
I wanted to ask Sebastian for advice on what I should do about crying, and getting little to no sleep, but I was too embarrassed. So, I decided that I would ask Ciel. I walked down to his room, after I knew that Sebastian was in his room. I quietly opened the door, shutting it behind me, and walked over to him. I lightly shook his shoulder. "Ciel. Wake up."
The boy slowly opened his eyes. "(F/n)? What are you doing? What time is it?"
"It's about 2:30 in the morning. I need to ask you a favor." I whispered
"What could it be at this hour?!" He whispered back angrily.
"I need some advice about....supernatural things. Is there anyone I could ask who isn't Sebastian?"
Ciel nodded groggily. "Try the Undertaker... he works in town... I bet he's still there even at this hour..."
I nodded. "Thank you."
And with that, I grabbed my black cloak, and hurried into town.
I opened the door to a dark building, conveniently labeled, 'Undertaker', peeking inside. "Hello? U-Undertaker?"
I took a few steps inside, when the door slammed shut behind me. I spun around and tried the door knob. 'Locked. Of course.'
I heard a slight giggle, followed by candles flickering to life, illuminating the room. "Why hello. What brings a pretty young lady like yourself into a nasty little shop like mine?" the voice asked.
I turned around to see a man in a large purple coat and long gray hair. "U-Um... My name is (F/n)...I-I came looking for advice."
The man giggled. "Well, normally, deary, one must pay a price for my services. But since this is your first time, and you're so pretty, I'll give you advice for free. What is it that you wish to know?"
I took a deep, raged breath. "W-Well.... If a soul... splits... Is... Is there any... permanent damage to them?"
Undertaker leaned on one of the coffins. "Ah. You must be the girl that butler came in about."
I blushed a little. "S-Sebastian... yes..."
The Undertaker walked over and took my hand, feeling my pulse. "You are still a bit weak. But there is something else that I feel..."
I watched him carefully, worried about what he was going to say.
What he said, turned my skin pale and my hands clammy.
"I can feel death."
