History Lessons
The next morning you woke up when the nurse brought you breakfast. "I'm not hungry." You said, looking out of the window. "And if you tell my "caretaker" (meaning Sebastian) that I skipped breakfast, you're going to find yourself in a hospital bed."
The nurse's eyes widened but she quickly nodded. "O-Okay! I promise!" She stuttered and hurried out of the room.
A half an hour later, Sebastian walked in the door, with a dress in his arms. "Shall I help you get dressed?" He asked.
You shook your head. "No. I can do it myself." You grumbled, standing. You took the dress from him and walked into the bathroom.
When you came out, Sebastian smiled. "Are you ready to go?" You nodded. Grabbing the file, you followed him outside to the carriage. Before you got in, you handed Sebastian a note. "What is this?" He asked, opening it. He looked up at you after reading it. "You do know that I am not welcome there, correct?" He asked.
You gave him a confused look. "Why?"
He looked back down at the paper but smiled, folding it up. "It's nothing. Of course I can take you."
You got into the carriage. 'Why isn't he welcome? Did he do something he wasn't suppose to?' You thought to yourself as the carriage started moving. You shrugged. 'Oh well. It must not have been anything too serious if he's taking me.' So off you went, to find out what happened to your father.
"Miss (F/n)," William greeted you, "It's nice to see you again." He turned to Sebastian and glared at him. "You, on the other hand, not so much."
Sebastian smirked. "I could say the same thing about you."
You stepped between them. "I need to speak with you."
William fixed his glasses. "We can speak in my office." He said, turning. You followed him into a small room and sat in the chair across from his desk.
"My father's death was not mentioned in these files." You said, placing them on his desk. "I want to know how he died." You commanded, crossing your arms.
William walked over to one of the filing cabinets in the room and pulled out a file that had 'Top Secret' written on it. He handed it to you and sat back down. Sebastian looked over your shoulder, looking at the file.
"Your father went insane from anger, after your mother died. He would come here every once in a while and would stand just outside the main doors." He said, folding his arms. "He just stared at them. Some people tried to convince him to come in, but he wouldn't move. He wouldn't even speak."
You opened the file and looked at the first paper. "An application for a psychiatric hospital?" You asked.
William pressed his lips together. "Yes. We believed that it was the best thing for him." You looked up at him. "So this hand written document," You asked, taking the document about you out of the other file, "Was after my father died?" He nodded. "Yes. You were still slightly in his possession before he died." You were confused. "What do you mean slightly?" He sighed. "You were actually taken care of by one of our researchers, Dr. Fujimoto. Your father would come in every week to see you. This privilege was later taken away after the incident."
You shifted uncomfortably in your chair. "Incident?" He nodded, grimly, motioning to go to the next paper in your father's file. "Yes. He came in on the date of May 7th, he came in to see you, yelling something about Dr. Fujimoto giving you drugs, and testing things on you. That's when he tried to kill the doctor. He suffered only a slight wound on his left shoulder.
"We deemed that he was not... fit to be around you anymore, and was admitted to the psychiatric ward." You stared at the picture of you and him together, smiling. You quickly turned it over, not wanting to look. "So what happened then?" William sighed, and removed his glasses, cleaning them. "This is where it get's difficult to tell the truth from rumors." He said. "Our staff thinks that he lived until old age and died, but when we contacted the psychiatric ward about a week after his admission, they informed us that he had been released." He pointed to the file in your hand. "There should be a printed documentation of the phone call. The ward said that he had made remarkable progress and was completely back to normal. Or so they thought." He said, standing and turning to the window. "We kept a close eye on him and questioned his new friends every once in a while, and we found something quite disturbing." you stood up. "What was it?"
"Your father slowly started to "remember" things from his friends' pasts that he was never there for. He knew things about them that they had never told him. We kept a VERY close eye on him, and slowly, his friends started to "remember" things from his past." You shook your head, slightly confused. "What do you mean?" He turned around. "Say Sebastian had gone on a family trip when he was smaller. You didn't even know him when he was smaller. You basically have his memory of the trip. Now say that you had a favorite stuffed animal when you were smaller. Sebastian would have all of your memories of that toy." You glanced at Sebastian, and then turned back to William. "So he was taking their memories and replacing them with his own?" He nodded. "Yes. And slowly, they started to get his memories of Dr. Fujimoto. They all want insane and actually plotted to kill him. This is when we received a letter from the ward." He said, motioning to the file. "They explained that someone had broken into his room and gave him drugs, every day that he was there. They didn't know until they checked the cameras." You flipped the page and your eyes widened at the picture. "The only thing that the police could make out, was this tattoo on the man's ankle." You started to feel sick to your stomach and wished you had eaten breakfast. It was the same tattoo that was on the man's ankle who tried to kidnap you.
