Back at the Mansion
You and Sebastian rode back to the mansion in silence. When you got back, Ciel was standing in the doorway, arms folded, and a cross look on his face. He glared at you both. "Where have you been? I expected you home an hour ago! I almost called the police to look for you!"
We stopped in front of him and Sebastian bowed. "I am sorry, my lord. (F/n) requested that we made an extra stop."
Ciel turned to you. "Is this true?"
You hesitated, still shaking from everything that happened. "Y-Yes.... I...I'm sorry." You hung your head and stared at the ground.
Everyone was silent for a moment. A hand was put in front of your face and you looked up. Ciel was holding his hand out, blushing and looking away from you. "Are you just going to stand outside and catch a cold, or are you going to come in and have dinner?" He asked. You relaxed a little, took his hand, and followed him into the house, Sebastian following close behind you.
'There's got to be more,' You thought at the table, swirling your soup with your spoon. 'The doctor hesitated when he said that my father had died from a heart attack. And where were the doctors? Couldn't they have saved him? And what "cool experiment" was he trying to show me with my blood?' You felt a hand on your forehead, drawing you from your thoughts. Sebastian was kneeling next to you and had taken his glove off, pressing it to your forehead. Ciel looked at you expectantly, like he had just asked you a question. You blushed. "W-What did you say?"
Sebastian pressed the back of his hand to your cheek. "Are you feeling alright? You seem a little pale, and you're not eating."
You nodded. "I'm fine... just... thinking."
Sebastian put on a new glove and stood back up. Ciel cleared his throat. "As I was saying, I've gotten a letter from the queen, asking for our help." He said, wiping his mouth on a napkin. "Have you heard of "Jack the Ripper"?"
You nodded. "I've heard of the case, yes."
Ciel stood up and came to sit next to you. He pulled the letter out of his pocket. "She needs us to solve it."
You cleaned your fingers off and read the letter. It was just as he said. The queen was asking him to solve the murders. You nodded. "Okay." Sebastian cleared your dishes away and brought both of you some desert. As you ate, you talked about your plan.
"Sebastian and I have already narrowed it down to about one person, The Viscount of Druitt. My Aunt, Madam Red was invited to the ball he is holding and agreed to take us with her. She will be here tomorrow to help pick out dresses for us-"
You choked on your food. Sebastian lightly patted your back. "Are you alright?"
You nodded, coughing. "You're going to wear a dress?!" You laughed.
Ciel blushed. "D-Don't laugh! I must not be recognized at the ball, so that's what I have to do!" He finished his last bite and stood up. "I'm going to bed. Sebastian, see her to her room then prepare me for bed." He said, walking out of the room.
Sebastian held his hand out and you took it, suddenly feeling very sleepy. He led you to your room and you sat on the edge of the bed as Sebastian shut the door behind him. He started to get your nightgown out of the closet. "The doctor gave us an... interesting piece of information."
Your heart started to beat faster. You tried to act as if you didn't know what he was talking about. You leaned back on the bed. "Oh yeah? What about?"
Sebastian turned around with a slightly hurt look on his face. "Your blood alcohol level was a .35. Any higher and you could've died." He said, tying the black cloth over his eyes.
You sat up, staring at the floor. "....So? No one would've cared..."
Sebastian quickly removed your clothes. "Even if you believe that is true, I must inform you that, that statement was false. At the very least, two people would've cared." You looked up to find a warm smile on his face. He slipped your gown over your head and pulled his cloth off, the smile still on his lips. "The moon has risen. It is time to sleep, (F/n)." You crawled under the covers and Sebastian pulled them up to your chin. "Good Night, (F/n)."
*Ciel's POV*
Sebastian knocked on the door. "Come in." The butler entered the room to find a blushing Ciel on the floor with his shirt stuck in his hair. The butler chuckled. "D-Don't just stand there laughing! Help he get this button unstuck!" The boy stuttered. Sebastian walked over to the helpless child and knelt down next to him, examining the situation. Within a few seconds he had the boy free from his shirt.
He then helped him into his night shirt and into his bed. "Young master... If I may speak freely," He waited for a response.
"Go ahead." Ciel said, trying to keep his eyes open.
"I do not believe that (F/n) is stable."
Ciel sat up in his bed, putting a hand to his chin. "I know. I've been thinking the same thing."
"I'm not so sure that helping out with this case is the best thing for her." Sebastian offered.
Ciel shook his head. "The queen requested both of us. So I have no choice but to bring her along." Ciel laid back down, yawning. "My only concern is her drinking herself to death. Keep a close eye on her."
Sebastian put a hand over his chest and bowed. "Yes, my lord."
