Chappy 79
(Y/n) stared at her pale reflection in the bathroom mirror with sleepy eyes. A small minute thermometer peeked out from her mouth as she waited impatiently for it to take her temperature. She had woken up in the middle of the night, literally throwing off the covers from herself because she felt like she was boiling alive from under them. After a quick bathroom break, something had told her to take her temperature just to make sure she was alright.
Only the problem was, she was still sleepy as fuck.
It hadn't even been a minute and she was already starting to nod off.
The sudden shrill, beeping from the thermometer startled her awake and she took it out of her mouth. She stared down at the numbers indicated on it and sighed. Her temperature was slightly high, about 38 degrees. A mild fever.
The girl returned the thermometer to where it originally was and headed on downstairs to get a glass of water. She then returned to her room and went back to bed, hoping that her fever would at least go down before morning.
***
It didn't go down and (Y/n) felt as miserable as ever.
Her fever had decided to go up an extra two degrees overnight and make her feel worse than she ever did before.
She lied in her bed, shivering and bundled up in a multitude of sweaters and blankets. And to make it worse, her nose had started running, a surefire sign of oncoming flu.
"Aww sweetie, you have a really high fever," Nanami frowned at the thermometer. She sat on the edge of (Y/n)'s bed, a palm pressing a cold compress to (Y/n)'s burning forehead while the other held on to the thermometer. The woman then tutted and sent the girl a worried look. "The practical exam yesterday must've taken out a lot from you. I don't think you can go to school today, honey. "
Loudly sniffling, the girl nodded.
"I'm sorry I can't be home to care for you today. Will you be fine on your own?" Nanami took the compress off her forehead and dumped it back into the bowl of cold water on her side table.
She nodded once more. "Yeah...I guess."
Nanami stared at her adoptive child for a moment as she contemplated on other ways she could get her care when she wasn't around. She then glanced at her phone placed beside the bowl before an idea popped into her mind. She grinned at the feverish girl. "I have an idea. How about I call Mitsuki?"
(Y/n)'s forehead creased. "You still talk to Katsuki's mom?"
"Of course I do! We always have coffee dates every once a week!" the woman chuckled while reaching for her phone.
"And here I thought you were actually seeing someone behind my back..."
Nanami pressed her lips together in a stern line. "Don't make me start to feel glad you're sick."
(Y/n) rolled her eyes before slowly sitting up. "Beside the point, why are you calling her?"
"I want to ask her if she can send Katsuki over after he gets back from school," Nanami said offhandedly while scrolling down her phone contacts.
(Y/n)'s eyes widened and she pressed her hands to her flushed cheeks. "Please don't make him see me like this..."
"Why? He is your boyfriend, isn't he?" she pressed the dial button before sending the girl a meaningful look. "If he can't handle you when you look like the plague, then he doesn't deserve you. Besides," Nanami's mouth curled up into a sly smile while pressing her phone to her ear. "It's good practice."
I look like the plague? "But-"
"Oh, hi darling! It's been a while, hasn't it?" Nanami's face immediately lit up as she spoke loudly into the phone. (Y/n) rolled her eyes, slightly irritated by her aunt's dismissal and began to pick the dirt off from under her nails. From where she was, she could faintly make out Mitsuki's loud voice replying.
"Hi dear! It's only been a day!"
"Just one day? Eh? Is that so?" Nanami began looking around (Y/n)'s room for a calendar but then shrugged it off with a loud chuckle. "My! How time flies! Anyway, I have a small favor to ask you...it's about Katsuki..." (Y/n) perked up at the mention of his name and looked up from her nails, only to find Nanami looking back at her. "Oh?! You knew just recently? Yeah, these two teens of ours." A soft smile appeared on Nanami's lips as she placed a hand on (Y/n)'s hair and gently ruffled it up. "Uh huh...I wonder why he didn't tell you. Yeah...mhhm. Well, he didn't strike me as the talkative type." She paused for a while before releasing a laugh. "Probably so." Pause then a nod. "Alright, let me tell her." She pulled the phone away from her ear a bit before covering its earpiece with her other hand and smiled at (Y/n). "Mitsuki says hi by the way."
(Y/n) nodded. "Tell her I said hi back."
Nanami nodded and uncovered the earpiece to continue with her conversation. "Yeah, I've told her. She says hi too." Mitsuki's loud laugh was heard from the phone before she said something else that (Y/n) didn't catch. "Oh, the favor..." Nanami shifted the phone to her other ear. "(Y/n)'s not feeling well today and I was wondering if you could allow Katsuki to come over after school to look after her. I have to work two shifts today so I won't be with her the whole day and since I don't want to leave her alone until late at night, I'm sure he won't mind keeping her company."
The girl stared at the woman as the other listened to Mitsuki's reply. She kinda wanted him to come over but at the same time, having him see her looking like a zombie wasn't high on her bucket list. Or on it, in the first place.
"All right, it's settled then," Nanami grinned while looking at (Y/n). The girl's heart half-dropped. "I'll text you the names of the meds she'll need so he can pick them up on his way." Pause. "Thanks again. It means a lot to us." She chuckled and nodded. "Alright. Alright. I'll see you soon then. Have a nice day!" She pulled the phone away from her ear and hanged up before sending (Y/n) a smile. "She says get well soon and also she's told him not to pass by right now but he'll be here in the evening with some prescribed meds. Okay?"
(Y/n) sighed and plucked out a tissue paper from the box on her side table. "Why are you so suddenly okay with leaving me alone with him for the whole night?"
Nanami paused for a moment to consider her sudden question. She then released a sigh and rose from the bed. "Well because if he tries anything with you, the results will be clear in form of the flu."
(Y/n) narrowed her eyes at the woman while wiping her runny nose. "But what if he does get it even if we don't do anything remotely..." she awkwardly looked to the side. "Y'know, contacty?"
Nanami held up a finger before jamming her hand in her jeans pocket. She took out a white facemask and held it up. "And that will be the reason for this!" She tossed it on (Y/n)'s lap. "You'll be wearing it around him at all times."
The girl's nose crinkled in disgust as she stared down at the plain mask on her lap. She then looked up at Nanami. "Isn't the healthy one supposed to be wearing this?"
"No. Only you."
(Y/n) crumpled up the used tissue and dropped it on her table. "What if I want to eat or I don't know, puke on your new shoes?"
Nanami went poker-faced. "Just wear the damn mask, (Y/n)."
Pouting, (Y/n) did as she was told. Once it was secure around her lower face, she sent Nanami a childish glower. The woman ignored it and began making her way out of the room. Just as she was about to close the door behind her, she stopped and peeked her head back inside, her hand still on the door handle. "Hopefully, I'll be back somewhere before midnight," her expression hardened and she pointed at the girl. "Don't let him kill you. And whatever you want from him, don't be afraid to ask. His job is to take care of your needs so utilize him to the fullest, okay?"
(Y/n) nodded. "Okay."
"Keep yourself warm. Put some socks on those feet of yours."
"Okay."
"Drink plenty of fluids and make sure to rest."
"Yeah. Got it."
"And, if you decide to move to the couch, bring some tissues with you and a heavy blanket."
Oh. My. Fucking. God. "Yeah. I got it. I'll wear my mask all the time too and drown myself in chicken soup," (Y/n) rolled her eyes in irritation. "Jesus, you don't have to remind me of every little thing I have to do."
Nanami set her lips in a grim line. "I'm just looking out for you, young lady."
(Y/n) sighed and cast her gaze aside childishly. "Yeah, I know. I'll be fine, you don't have to worry too much."
"Okay," Nanami smiled. "Just be here when I get back?"
The girl sent her a blank look.
"It's a flu. Not Ebola. I'll be fine."
"Okay fine, fine," Nanami sighed while running a hand through her hair but still showed signs of hesitation to leave. "I'm going now. Be okay, okay?"
"Okay."
"Alright. Bye."
"Bye..." the girl replied as she watched the door being closed. She waited until she heard the front door close before taking off the mask and throwing it on the bed. She then took the covers off her and rose from the bed. A low curse tumbled out of her mouth once her naked feet hit the cold floor and she went to her drawer to take out a pair of socks.
After putting them on, she made her way to the bathroom. She caught a glimpse of her reflection in the mirror before doing a double take. Her eyes widened a bit.
She really did look like the plague. Her face was all reddened with her messy (h/c) hair complimenting her miserable look. Her eyes had slightly sunk into her sockets and were red-rimmed from the constant sniffling. She still had her pajamas on, together with a couple of sweaters and jumpers on but she didn't feel like changing out of them.
"Ugh," she scratched her head with a sour look. "I look like hell."
Not long after she said that, her face twisted up when she felt a sneeze coming up. Burying her face in the crook of her elbow, she loudly sneezed. She then started digging around her jumper's pockets for her handkerchief. When she didn't find it, she grabbed some tissue paper from its holder before blowing her nose.
While dumping the used paper in the bin, she looked back at her dead reflection. Her lip curled up in disgust.
Katsuki better like what he saw.
She quickly washed her face and went back to her room to take the bowl of water to pour it out. When she was done, she grabbed her mask, three blankets and two boxes of tissue before going downstairs to start one heck of a terrible day.
***
That day progressed slowly. To the point, that (Y/n) actually wanted to strangle herself.
Her fever had escalated into a full-blown cough-sneeze party. She had gone through one single box of tissues in a full thirty minutes and if Katsuki didn't get there soon, she was gonna start using cut out pieces of her old clothes.
She hated being sick. It made her feel disgusting.
(Y/n) let out a tired groan as she dropped a newly used tissue in the bin near her. Her bleary eyes were glued to the cartoon being shown on the TV but weren't exactly watching. Her whole body ached, her head felt heavy and her nose was congested and felt inflamed as if constantly running wasn't enough. She had to rely on breathing through her mouth and that would've been easier if she wasn't also coughing from time to time.
She cast her sunken eyes towards the wall clock and felt a bit relieved when she saw that it was three-thirty, which meant school was over for the day. As much as she didn't want Katsuki to come there, it made her feel better knowing that she at least survived half the day and that she won't have to get up everytime to get something.
Even moving hurt. Due to the soreness of her muscles, getting up made her feel uncomfortable and her aching head would swim. It also didn't help that she was constantly drowsy.
She picked up the remote that was lying on her chest and muted the TV. No channel was interesting to her or she just didn't have any interest in them. She closed her eyes briefly to take in a deep breath when she felt an irritation bubbling in her chest. She then covered her mouth when a dry, hacking cough attacked her. When she stopped, she let out another groan while sinking back into her pillow. Her face was twisted with discomfort and pain as she rubbed her chest to soothe the burning in she felt in her lungs. Due to the coughs, her breathing had briefly turned into a faint wheezing. She closed her eyes to get at least some rest for her battered body.
She didn't know how much time had passed or how she managed to slip into a quick nap but she was woken up by a loud knock on her door.
Her eyes slowly blinked opened and she stole a glance at the clock. She had slept for an hour but her body felt like she had been in a five-year coma.
The TV was still on, on mute, so the series of loud, impatient knocks weren't coming from it but from the door.
Must be him...she thought as she reluctantly sat up on the sofa. She took a minute to first take a breather, wincing at how much her body ached before her slight moment of peace was interrupted by yet another round of knocks. Letting out a cross between a whine and a groan at his impatience, she pulled off the blankets and slowly got up from the couch. She reached out for the mask that was on the table and put it on. She grabbed one of the blankets, wrapped it around herself and made her way to the door.
At this point, she didn't even care what she looked like. With how terrible she felt, he could just fuck off.
Grabbing the handle, she opened the door to reveal Katsuki, already changed out of his uniform into all-black and carrying a plastic bag with him.
She sniffled and tugged the blanket closer to her body. She really wanted to lie back down. Or just die.
She averted her eyes away from his and settled on staring at the door frame instead. "I didn't want you to see me like this," she said and cringed internally at how nasal and raspy her voice sounded. Even talking with the mask on made her feel stupid, if not like she had some contagious disease, which she did.
"Too bad, coz I just did," (Y/n) could practically hear the smirk in his voice. "Only an idiot gets sick after a fight."
(Y/n) sent him a tired look. She didn't even have the strength to glare at him. "Whatever. Just come in. I feel like I'm about to asphyxiate here."
Katsuki scoffed but did as he was told. (Y/n) closed the door as he kicked off his shoes and led the way to the living room. She immediately got back on the couch, under her blankets and finally felt her body relax. Sitting up instead of lying down, she went to sigh only to be cut off by a coughing fit that suddenly attacked her. When she calmed down, she cleared her throat and tugged the blankets higher to cover her up to her neck.
She felt like shit.
"You look like shit."
The girl looked up from her lap and turned to the owner of the voice, who had made himself comfortable on the armchair across from hers. His arms were draped on the back of the chair, legs spread apart as he looked at her like she had the plague. (Y/n) narrowed her eyes at him. She had a bloody mask on and yet he still kept his distance.
Ladies and gentlemen, boyfriend of the year.
"Gee, thanks, babe," she said bitterly before reaching for the remote and unmuting the forgotten TV. Classical music from the cartoon instantly livened up the room. "Where are the meds you were supposed to get me?"
Katsuki flicked his head towards the table and (Y/n) followed his direction, her eyes falling on the plastic bag on the table. Sniffling, she set the remote on the table and lethargically stretched out to grab the bag. Settling back on the sofa, she rummaged through the bag and found mainly antibiotics, painkillers, and a cough syrup. She took the time to read their prescriptions before looking up at Katsuki.
"The fuck you want," he asked wearily.
"Get me a spoon and a glass of water," she ordered and looked back down at the packet in her hand.
Katsuki defiantly narrowed his eyes into slits. "I'm not your fucking maid."
The girl sighed inwardly at his stubbornness. Did he really want to start with her when she felt like shit?
Slowly looking up from the packet, she fixed him a blank but stern look. "Katsuki, I am in no mood to argue with you right now so please don't make me slap you once I get better."
Katsuki's eyebrow twitched. (Y/n)'s holding stare never wavered and she looked like she was going to make good on her words if he didn't.
Sending her a strangled look, he ran a hand down his face while loudly groaning before he got up from the chair. He stomped into the kitchen, leaving (Y/n) rolling her eyes after him and picked whatever she had asked for.
He went back into the sitting room and placed the glass of water and spoon on the table before her.
"Thanks, maid," (Y/n) muttered as she took out a pill from the blister pack and glanced up at the livid boy. He was scowling deeply at her. Ignoring him, she pulled down her mask and popped the pill into her mouth before downing the water.
"Have you eaten yet?"
(Y/n) shook her head and popped another pill.
Katsuki clicked his tongue and frowned down at her. "You're supposed to eat before taking medicine, dumbass."
And now he cares...(Y/n) mentally scoffed as she set the glass back down on the table and picked up the cough syrup. "Do I seriously look like I have the strength to cook for myself? That's why you're here. Cook for me or something. I don't know," she shrugged and shook the bottle before opening the cap.
"I said, I'm not your fucking maid."
"No. But you're my nurse," she poured the syrup into the spoon and glanced at him. "So get to work, nurse."
(Y/n) smiled to herself while stuffing the spoon into her mouth when she heard the string of obscene curses that came out of his mouth. He didn't even bother arguing with her as he went back to the kitchen. Guess his mother must've done or said something to him, otherwise, he would've put up a stronger fight than that.
Done with the medicine, she set them back on the table and laid back down on her pillow with a sigh. From the living room, she could hear kitchen drawers being opened and silverware clanking together while being placed (thrown) into the sink. Smiling to herself at his immature antics, she closed her eyes and hoped that at least the medicines would work.
***
"Oi, get up. S'done."
(Y/n)'s opened her heavy eyes to see Katsuki settling down on the opposite end of her couch. He balanced a steaming bowl of...something on one hand while he held a spoon in the other.
The girl lethargically sat up and leaned her temple against the inside back of the seat to fully face him. The slight elevation eased her breathing a little bit and she released a relaxed exhale.
She felt her nose start to run again and she leaned over to grab a tissue. She pulled down her mask to blow her nose and dropped the tissue into the bin. Sniffling, her lethargic gaze met with Katsuki's.
"I hope you know that you're going to feed me."
"You thought I was going to let you feed yourself? Your dumbass self wouldn't even take it in the first place. Fucking picky eater..." Katsuki frowned and dug the spoon into the soup. "This is an old recipe my old hag used to make back when I was a kid, so you better take all of it."
A disgusted look crossed her face when her eyes fell on the yellowish soup. It was piping hot, bubbling and with very questionable pieces floating at the top.
She sent him a defiant look. "No offense to your mom or anything and I know this is a family cure and it's also supposed to make me better but that looks straight up disgusting."
Katsuki clicked his tongue and extended the spoon to her mouth. "Stop wasting what's left of your voice on crappy complaints about soup you can't even fucking taste."
(Y/n) released a tired sigh. She then half-heartedly opened her mouth and the spoon was shoved into it. Swallowing the broth, she shuddered, making Katsuki roll his eyes.
Nothing else was said from then on as Katsuki fed her while (Y/n) fought a silent battle to keep her eyes open.
At one point, she felt the edge of the spoon being brushed against her lips and she opened her eyes to see the ash-blonde impatiently glowering at her.
Not even embarrassed by the fact that she had fallen asleep while he was feeding her, she simply opened her mouth and he put the spoon into it. When she swallowed it, she released an amused exhale.
"What's funny?" Katsuki asked while scraping some leftover soup into the spoon.
"Nothing, just..." (Y/n) faltered and closed her eyes. "Reminds me of that one time you fed me while I was in the hospital."
"You were a little shit. Open your mouth."
She did as she was told. She then opened her eyes and stared at the boy. Her eyes were half-closed and exhaustion was pulling at her body but she tried fighting it off a little bit longer.
"You know, you saved me back then," Katsuki's eyes flickered up to her and back to the bowl. "I'm still grateful."
"Only an asshole would've let you died there," he grumbled, making (Y/n) smile. It felt like such a long time ago but it actually wasn't.
"Thanks still. You were kinda my hero back then, y'know?"
"Shut up. You already said that sappy shit so don't go repeating it," he snapped and rose up from the seat. His head was turned away from (Y/n) so that she couldn't see his pink cheeks. "Get some sleep."
Her eyebrows furrowed as she watched him head to the kitchen. "I'm done already?"
The boy looked at her over his shoulder, "Yeah. You pretty much slept through it all."
"Ha, funny," she said without humor and laid back down on the pillow. She tugged the blankets back up to her neck and drowsily stared at the ceiling. A small 'oh' escaped her lips when she remembered the mask and pulled it up to cover her face once more. She then shifted around a little more to get into a comfortable position and when she did, she closed her eyes.
Approaching footsteps and the feeling of her legs being raised into the air made her open her eyes. She saw Katsuki sit back at the end of her couch, hand holding onto her legs before placing them on his lap.
Warmth stirred in (Y/n)'s chest at the sweet gesture and she couldn't suppress a smile any longer.
The boy reached for the remote and changed the channel. (Y/n) turned her head towards the TV to watch whatever he had put on.
It seemed as if he was undecided too as he kept changing the channels. Once he found nothing interesting to watch, he settled for some kind of comedy sitcom showing two male actors having a conversation in a bar.
"-Yeah, she said 'spank me', so I slapped her with the word of God."
Background laughter and claps followed up after the actor's words and (Y/n) silently snorted. A phrase about how laughter is the best medicine crossed her mind and she almost laughed at the irony.
(Y/n) could already feel the effects of the medicine and the soup work their magic on her as her eyes had started to droop. Her head lolled around the pillow as she felt herself grow unconscious. She wanted so much to sleep but her shortness of breath made her uncomfortable. Taking deep inhales with her mouth made her feel even stuffier than she was. She was sweating buckets and all she wanted to do was kick off the blankets but what would be the point as she'd just wrap them back around herself.
Turning her blurry gaze back to the boy, she felt a small pang of jealousy hit her. It was weird how she coveted the way he was perfectly healthy and so comfortably breathing through his nose. He really had no idea how much he was taking having to breathe properly for granted at that moment.
And so, because she wanted to have a slight sense of fairness, she raised one leg up from his lap, placed her socked foot on his cheek and nudged his face to the side. Katsuki's eyes widened slightly before his face contorted into an annoyed scowl.
"What now..." he growled impatiently.
"Fireworks..." (Y/n) sniffled before taking a deep breath through her mouth. "I'm dying..."
"You're fine. You just have the fucking flu," Katsuki deeply frowned but made no move to remove her foot from his face when she continued nudging it.
"I SAID, I'M DYING!"
Katsuki whipped his head towards her, making her foot slide down to his shoulder and shot her a dark look. (Y/n) reciprocated with a tired but stubborn look. Katsuki's eyes narrowed, a line appearing between his brows with how much he scowled at her. The level of difficulty in dealing with her increased a thousand times when she got sick. It was mind fucking indeed. Completely giving up on starting another argument with her before it did, he clicked his tongue and turned back to the TV.
"Fucking baby..." he muttered sourly before freezing when he felt not one but two feet placed back on the side of his face. To make it worse, she started to knead her feet against his face. A vein popped in his neck and his lips curled up in a snarl as he fought the chaos of his infamous anger.
How, in the literal goddamn fuck, did he agree with becoming a personal nurse?
"Your face is so soft," she feverishly mused as she continued her ministrations on his face. Katsuki's head kept nudging ever so slightly to the side and she could tell he was just about past his breaking point but he still made no attempt to shove her off.
Katsuki squeezed his eyes shut and pinched the bridge of his nose to calm himself. When he felt "calm", he opened his eyes and dropped his arm. He then clicked his tongue when he heard a nasal chuckle coming from her.
"You're such a fucking baby, you know that?"
The girl smiled behind her mask. "But I'm your fucking baby."
"Idiot."
(Y/n) took in Katsuki's unamused scowl and snorted inwardly.
"You know what's funny?"
"Your complexion?" the irritated boy shot back.
"Lots of shit," (Y/n) nuzzled the back of her head against the pillow while closing her eyes. "Now lighten the fuck up."
"Go the fuck to sleep," she heard him order and she nodded.
"Okay..." she softly said before slowly drowning out the TV's background laugh track as she fell into a deep sleep once again.
***
Katsuki woke her up in the middle of the night to eat and take her medicine. It seemed like her flu had gotten worse as she wasn't able to get up from the couch without help. Her appetite had diminished greatly and it took a lot to reach at least halfway through her food without Katsuki forcing her to so that she'd take her medicine afterward. But unfortunately, even after the effort he had put in feeding her, she still threw it all up in the end.
He didn't have time to ponder on that annoying fact as he still had other things to worry about. (Y/n) was suffering. Her lungs were completely not cooperating with her and she had trouble breathing, making her constantly wheeze.
Her fever had gone back up and Katsuki had to make her take a warm bath to help it come down. Afterward, he had to take her out of her wet clothes and quickly bundle her up in dry clothes before drying up her hair.
(Y/n) never thought that he'd be as caring as he was but he repeatedly proved how tender he could be despite his contradictions.
Cocooned in her blankets and duvets, the sickly girl lied in her bed, probably dying and with no sense of time. She was all ready to sleep (again) and call it a horrendous day, with her mask on and a box of tissues on the ready beside her on her side table. Meanwhile, Katsuki was downstairs doing whatever he was doing but had earlier promised her that he'd be with her in a while.
She didn't know how long 'a while' would take but she wished that he'd hurry up at least.
Fortunately for her, he did come back as promised and got into the bed with her. The lights were switched off and (Y/n) could only make out his silhouette as lied next to her.
He silently stared at her with an unreadable look on as she stared back. The room was completely silent, except for her constant sniffling and occasional coughs.
Katsuki's eyes ran over her sickly form before shifting nearer her. (Y/n) let out a small sound of confusion as he gently lifted her head and laid it on his shoulder.
"I'm gonna to get you sick like this," she protested weakly but made no move to move away from him.
"Be quiet. I'm fine," he said and brushed her hair away from her damp forehead. "Just sleep. I've got you."
(Y/n) closed her eyes and relaxed into him. He felt so warm compared to how cold she felt despite the sweaters she had on. She leaned into him more and released a small content sigh.
"You're so nice..." she whispered, feeling completely grateful to him for the great care he gave her.
Katsuki remained silent as his crimson eyes peered sightlessly into the darkness. He listened to her labored breathing and waited until she was asleep so that he'd also sleep.
Brushing the back of his hand against her forehead, he frowned at how hot and damp her skin was. The fever was seriously getting on his nerves. He had to relax though, she had taken some antibiotics so the fever should be as good as gone by morning. Hopefully.
He wasn't sure how much time had passed while staring at nothing so he glanced down at (Y/n). Her eyes were thankfully closed and she was breathing a little bit better though her wheezes were still audible.
He wasn't sleepy yet so he decided to stay up a little longer. Careful not to bother (Y/n), he slowly took out his phone from his pocket and began browsing the net.
A little over an hour later, (Y/n) suddenly woke up to a coughing fit. Sitting up, she pulled down her mask and grabbed a handful of tissues to wipe the mess on her face. Katsuki, on seeing this, tossed his phone aside on the bed, face up so that the room would be illuminated slightly and sat up to help her. He took the crumpled up tissues away from her and grabbed her another clean one so that she could properly blow her nose.
When she was done, she threw the used tissue on the floor and collapsed back onto the pillows. Her chest rose rapidly up and down as she recovered from the painful fit. Katsuki laid back down beside her and brushed his hand against her forehead to soothe her.
(Y/n) kept tugging at her collar while trying to correct her breathing. Her head felt very heavy and her chest felt compressed. Breathing through her mouth was becoming a bother but she had no choice. She tried taking inhaling through her nose but since it was still stuffy, that attempt only made her cough.
"Breathe through your mouth dumbass," Katsuki scolded as he intently watched her.
(Y/n) nodded and continued inhaling through her mouth.
When she finally settled down, Katsuki placed her head back on his chest. He didn't even bother to pull up her mask. He honestly didn't care if he did get the flu, as long as she breathed just fine.
It took her longer to sleep this time but she did eventually. When he heard her leveled breathing, Katsuki glanced down at her to see her sleeping peacefully. She was still wheezing and faint gurgling sounds would occasionally come out of her throat due to congestion but all in all, she was finally resting.
Satisfied, he picked his phone back and went back to surfing the net. From time to time, he'd feel (Y/n) clutch at his shirt and nuzzle into him while she slept and he'd always make sure to check on her so that she wouldn't suffocate.
At one point, he also got a message from his mother and Nanami asking how (Y/n) was, and he tried to respond in the nicest way possible, well to Nanami that is. She informed him that she was on her way home and since it was nearly midnight, he should just sleep over.
Already way ahead of her, he replied with a 'fine' and turned off his phone. He placed the phone under the pillow before relaxing into it. He peered into the darkness for a moment before looking down at the fast asleep girl.
A million thoughts crossed his mind as he stared at the top of her head for a while before a deep frown suddenly settled on his lips.
He had completely forgotten to tell her how kickass she was for passing the practical.
