Chappy 71
"Oh thank God we're home. I could sleep for months..." the (h/c) haired girl groaned in exhaustion the minute she got out of Reo's stretch.
Katsuki, who was already out of the car and standing a distance away from her, rolled his eyes while he slung the strap of his bag over his shoulder.
"So," Reo's voice sounded from inside the car, making (Y/n) turn around to look at him. "As fun as this has been...are you still considering about giving me a second chance?"
The boy, still sitting in the limo with his head turned towards her, shot her a faux guileless smile. His eyes were trained on her with hope and expectancy that made her sigh.
"Of course," she said as she adjusted her bag's straps on her shoulders before placing a hand behind the open door.
"Really?" Reo asked, his eyebrows rising up in glee.
"Ha," she scoffed and held up two fingers in a peace sign with a smile. "Deuces bitch."
"Hey! Wai-!" Reo's cry of protest was cut cold by (Y/n) slamming the car door shut.
The girl took some steps back, pleased with herself as she watched the vehicle back away and drive off. As soon as the car was off, (Y/n) took in a sharp breath, the hairs on the back of her neck standing up when she felt the pair of crimson eyes boring holes into her back.
So much for trying to ignore his intense stares the whole ride back...now I'm alone with him...Better get inside while I still have my clothes on.
The girl slowly turned around to face him and shot him a strained smile. "Hi."
"The fuck?!" Katsuki creased his brows together. "I've been standing here for the past five fucking minutes and you sayin' hi now?!"
"Really? Five minutes have passed?" (Y/n) asked in a disingenuous voice as she walked around him to head to her door. "I didn't notice."
"You gonna fucking leave now?!"
The girl immediately halted, body freezing up and eyes widening. The fast beating of her heart pounded in her eardrums and she gulped inaudibly. She had hoped that she'd just get into her house and Katsuki would head to his without further ado but that seemed impossible now.
The way his voice sounded squeezed something in her chest. It carried anger as usual but also expectancy, hidden emotions and a hint of pain from her obvious ignorance during their way back.
What was she waiting for? He's right there, isn't he? Wouldn't it be easier to just say what she felt and let things flow? To tell him what she wants, not care about the outcome and just enjoy the now?
But that was the thing. The feelings were mutual sure, but what if it didn't work out? What if they got together and things failed? Was it too early to even be wanting a relationship? What if she wasn't ready yet for another relationship? What if Katsuki wasn't ready to be a boyfriend? Does he even want to? During their talks, all he's ever mentioned about the future was being the number one pro-hero. Never has she ever heard him talk about having a family, getting married or having children. Not like she expected him to do so because he was Katsuki Bakugou, winning is all ever in his mind first...and other things maybe but he had to be thinking about it someday, right? And if so, did he ever think about having some kind of future with her?
All those thoughts, (Y/n) would admit, were all superfluous but she couldn't help it. If she wanted a relationship, she wanted one in which she knew it was going at least somewhere and not just a relationship where they'd start hooking up while the dreaded 'what the fuck are we?' question lingered unasked between them.
She also didn't want a 'let's get together and see how this shit goes' relationship with Katsuki. What she wanted was a helluva fucking long time relationship with him, as stupid and fairy tale as it sounded.
So she was thankful. Extremely thankful that that spider had stopped them because if it didn't, she wouldn't have done all that thinking to know what she really wanted.
In short, she didn't want to screw up a really promising and probably very interesting relationship even before it began. They already got to base two and they didn't even touch base one. Motherfucking base one!! And they were almost diving headfirst all the way into base four for chrissakes!
For once in her short life, she was going to do things right, as hard as it was going to be. Step by step. Right things at the right time. No jumping into things without thinking it through.
And she was going to start by answering yes to his question and avoiding him unti-
"Why? You wanna come in?"
You. Fucking. Idiot...Even after all that thinking about good morals and doing things right...why am I like this?
(Y/n) turned around to face him with a leering expression. Katsuki was caught off guard by her question and he averted his gaze from her, heat rising upon his cheekbones.
"You want me to?" he asked while his eyes looked anywhere else but her.
The female shrugged indecisively. "I don't know. Do you?"
Katsuki finally looked at her and let out a growl as his face morphed with rage. "Make up your fucking mind already! Do you want me to come in or not?!"
"I don't know! Maybe?! I just don-!"
"What do you fucking want?!"
I want to make out with you until my lungs hurt but at the same time, I wanna run away from you so that I can stop making bad decisions for once!!
"I just want to take off these shoes because if I take another step in them I swear I just might go mental!" (Y/n) yelled back and balled up her hands into fists at her sides, her nails digging crescents into her palms.
Surprise crossed the ash-blond's face. He wasn't expecting that kind of answer from her but something entirely different.
He quickly wiped off the surprise and he scowled at her.
"That's what you want?" he rasped in a lower voice than before as he fixed her with his eyes. The intensity behind those blood-red eyes made her breath catch in her throat. The tone he used was deep and meaningful, as if telling her that she still had a chance to change her mind.
No...yes? No, that's not what I want. The truth? I really really really want to kiss you. But I also don't wanna ruin things between us...so I'm sorry...
"Yeah," she nodded and hoped strongly that he didn't notice how wavering her voice sounded or how her breath came out shaky. She inhaled sharply to calm herself and offered him a small smile. "So, see ya at four?"
"Tch. Whatever," Katsuki clicked his tongue and looked away from her while shoving his hands into his pockets. "Just call me, text or shit when you're fucking done."
A tinge of hurt shot through (Y/n)'s chest at his sudden cold demeanor and her smile faltered a bit. He wore a nonchalant expression, completely hiding away any emotion he was feeling at the moment.
"Okay. Bye," she said in a soft voice which Katsuki was able to hear even though he didn't respond and walked away instead.
(Y/n) watched his retreating back with downcast eyes. Even though they were finally talking, the tension was still there. It seemed to only become more palpable when they were alone. She didn't know when the tension will ever completely end so they can be able to finally joke and play each other without being completely aware of each other.
Hopefully, that time would come as soon as possible.
(Y/n) let out a sigh before swiveling around to walk into her house and closed the door behind her. She let out an exhausted sigh while kicking off her shoes, not caring where they ended up and trudged her tired feet towards the stairs. Judging from the unlocked door, she figured that her aunt was home and she was going to call her just about any minute.
"(Y/n)! You're back!" Nanami's footfall sounded as she bounded towards the girl from the kitchen. "Soon also."
"Hey aunt," the girl stopped to greet the woman in fatigue. Nanami leaned her shoulder against the kitchen's doorway and stared down the girl with a scrutinizing look.
"What?" (Y/n) asked after some silent seconds filled with self-consciousness.
"...Did those two boys defile you?"
The female's mouth went slack-jawed. "What? What the heck?! Why would you ask that?!"
"I'm just asking sweetie," the woman jerked a shoulder casually, her expression still deadpanned though having the tiniest hints of a smirk at her daughter's stark shock. "You send out your daughter to go on a camping trip alone with two boys in a place where there's zero cell reception...a parent is bound to worry about some things, right?"
(Y/n) sent the adult a defensive look. "Not some things! I told you. Nothing would happen!"
Nanami's eyes shifted from her face to her neck and she pursed her lips, "Says the large hickey on your neck."
Hickey?! Where di-oh holy Christ on the Cross, I totally forgot that son of a gun bit me! I've been walking around like this?! Why didn't those two idiots tell me?!
(Y/n)'s hand flew up to cover her neck as blood rushed rapidly to her still shocked face.
"It's a..." she began, her eyes darting from left to right. "It's a...mosquito bite."
Nanami frowned while narrowing her eyes at her, "And since when are mosquito bites that big?"
"Genetically modified mosquito? Hahaha..." the female laughed nervously, earning an askew look from her aunt. (Y/n) immediately stopped laughing and dropped her head in shame. "Nothing happened, okay? Apart from this, I swear."
The woman stared at her for a while before shaking her head and pushing off the wall. She tucked a hair that had fallen out of her bun behind her ear and sighed.
"It's okay, honey," she spoke in a gentle tone. "I believe you. As long as you're safe and you know what you're doing."
(Y/n) looked up at her and Nanami took the chance to give her a stern look as she added. "Just don't give me any grandchildren yet. I'm too young."
The teenager's face flushed face turned darker and she pressed her palm down on the bruised spot the more when the previous' night's activities replayed through her mind.
"...Right...course..." she smiled forcefully and looked to the side. "No grandchildren...got it..."
"Mmhh. Anywho..." the woman hummed and turned around to walk back into the kitchen. "The most important thing is that you're okay and that I have nothing to worry about. Apart from two boys eiffel towering my daughter and that she missed school today."
(Y/n) frowned at her aunt's back from the kitchen's entrance. "No one eiffel towered me."
Nanami threw the girl a sly smirk over her shoulder. "Just saying sweetie. You children of these days and your weird positions..."
"Please stop talking about that..." (Y/n) muttered and tugged at her collar to try and hide the hickey from view. "And first of all, what are you even doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at work?"
"I had an off day," Nanami responded and folded her forearms across the kitchen countertop as she eyed (Y/n) with a small smile. "Why?"
"Just asking," (Y/n) shrugged, already turning around to head to her room. "Anyway, I have to go shower and maybe sleep. Later."
"Bye."
The female heaved a sigh of relief and went up to her room as quickly as her feet could take her. Once in her room, she slid off her bag to the floor and flopped headfirst on her bed.
Several minutes later, (Y/n) had fallen asleep, exhaustion and laziness having had taken the reigns long before she could prevent it. The sudden muffled sound of her ringing phone resonated from her pocket, stirring her from her slumber. The girl hesitantly opened her eyes as she dragged her hand to fish out the phone from her pocket. When it was out, she brought it up to her face and squinted her bleary, sleep-laden eyes at the screen.
(Y/n) let out a small groan while accepting it and placed it against her ear.
"Talk to me..." she murmured groggily as she tried to sit up.
"Hey (Y/n)! Wow, you sound tired. Everything okay?" Kirishima chuckled through the phone.
"Hmm? Yeah. I was just asleep..." (Y/n) laid back on the bed, hooded eyes now staring up at the ceiling. "What is it you wanted?"
"Just checking up on you. You and Bakugou weren't at school today."
"Oh, we had gone mountain climbing. It's a...long story."
"I get it. It's cool," Kirishima said, humor warm in his tone. "Anyway, I'm guessing you two will need someone to bring you today's homework."
(Y/n) exhaled in amusement. "I wonder who that'll be."
"Me of course! You two are like my best buddies in class! Who else would do the job?"
"Katsuki will tear you a new asshole if he heard you referring to yourself as his best buddy," the female laughed while rubbing her eyes off the remaining sleep.
Kirishima joined (Y/n) in laughter. "I'm very prepared for that if you must know."
As the laughs died down, the red-haired male cleared his throat and added. "Far from that, how about I bring you the homework after school? I'll be dropping it off at Bakugou's place first and stop over at yours after."
"Huh? Wazzat?" At the mention of Katsuki's place, (Y/n)'s eyebrows lifted in sudden interest. "You're heading to Katsuki's place?"
"Yeah. Why?"
A smile slowly grew on (Y/n)'s lips as an idea formulated in her brain. This was the chance. The chance to finally incinerate the remaining tension between her and Katsuki. If the tension would go away when they were around someone they weren't so close to then what would happen if they were with someone closer? It would work. Even if it were indirectly. And what better way to do it than with help from his bro, Kirishima.
"Oh, nothing. You'll see," the girl answered, her fully open eyes twinkling with glee and anticipation.
***
Well if this isn't awkward...(Y/n) thought as she watched Kirishima turn the pages of his exercise book.
She was currently sitting beside Kirishima at Katsuki's low table and could clearly see the death glares they were being dealt with from the corner of her eye. Katsuki sat across from the two and his glares were mostly directed at Kirishima, who was innocently flicking through the pages of his exercise book.
Katsuki still couldn't grasp the real reason why the two had decided to study at his place of all places. He was strongly against the idea from the moment (Y/n) suggested it and even after several attempts to throw them out and threaten them, they remained steadfast to the idea. The boy didn't have any problem with studying with (Y/n) or with Kirishima alone but with the both of them, it was hell for him. And the fact that they were reluctant to leave the other behind made him want them out more.
But after some negotiations and a pleading face from (Y/n) which Katsuki knew he could never say no to, unfortunately, he (hesitantly) agreed to let them stay.
Only on one condition, that neither one of them bother him while he studied.
But that was proving real difficult considering (Y/n) was directly within his line of vision. Though that wasn't what had plunged him into a terrible mood.
What made his blood boil the more was the fact that ever since they began studying, (Y/n) hadn't laid her eyes on him not even once. All the while, she was focused on Kirishima while he showed her what they had learned that day and completely ignoring him.
No one could blame her though. How did he expect her to look at him when all he did was give her the evil eye? It wasn't like she was doing it on purpose in the first place.
(Y/n) placed her hand over her mouth to cover her fourth yawn. Thirty minutes hadn't gone by yet and she was already bored to death. The silence also constituted to her boredom and she found herself getting drowsy with sleep.
She rested her cheek on her palm as she continued to wait for Kirishima to find the page he was searching for. Apparently, the male was oblivious to the glares that were being sent his way and seemed to be focused on his task.
"Ah hah!" Kirishima exclaimed, startling (Y/n) a bit. "Found it."
"Thank fuck," (Y/n) muttered under her breath before leaning over to him. "What you got?"
Kirishima pointed at a sentence in his book with his finger and frowned. "Huh...it actually wasn't what I said. But look at this. Isn't this contradictory?"
"Yeah..." the girl nodded critically and flicked to the next page of his book. "Let me see what the next thing says."
In the process of (Y/n) flipping Kirishima's book, she didn't notice how close she had gotten to him to the point that their shoulders were touching. But there was someone who noticed. And that someone looked like he was just about to pop a vein from how tightly he was clenching his jaw. Kirishima made a small joke which made (Y/n) crack up with a cute, girly laugh while playfully pushing his shoulder and this just made Katsuki see red.
Anger swirled like a red tide within him, rising to choke him. His breath became harsh and shallow, his hands automatically curling into fists, itching to swing out and put a dent in the wall beside him or in Kirishima's face.
(Y/n) was his girl! Not officially but perfectly marked for anyone to see. That is, if it weren't for the troublesome fact that she had managed to conceal the hickey he had given her.
Katsuki struggled to shove down the strong craving to smash Kirishima's head against the table top. (Y/n) had the freedom to talk with whomever she wanted to. He had no say over that. She made that perfectly clear a while back.
But then why did she sit so fucking close to him?! And why the fuck wasn't she paying any attention to him?!
"Yo Bakubro! You alright?" Kirishima's voice crashed through his violent thoughts hard enough to send him back to earth with a snarl.
"What?!"
"You burnt a hole in your book."
"The fu-" Katsuki looked down to where his hand had tightly crumpled a page of his book. The piece of paper was blackened, smoking and completely charred.
"You okay?"
The ash-blond's head snapped up to sneer at the concerned girl.
"What's it look like?! Huh?"
(Y/n) sent him a confused look at his sudden harsh tone. "Whoa, dude. Who hurt you?"
Katsuki 'tsked' and averted his gaze down to his destroyed page but not before sending one last glower at a puzzled Kirishima. (Y/n) arched an eyebrow, clearly having seen that black look Katsuki had given Kirishima and she turned her head to look at the red-head beside her. The male looked back at her with the same confused look and he shrugged.
'What's up with him?'- he seemed to ask with his eyes.
'Heck if I know'- (Y/n) shrugged in response and both teenagers turned back to Katsuki, who was ripping out the burned pages of his exercise book with a dark expression.
Silence ensued after a while and they went back to studying, but this time Katsuki wasn't staring angrily at the two and neither did Kirishima and (Y/n) give him a reason to. Not that they knew why he was angry in the first place.
As (Y/n) wrote down some notes on her book, her pen dried out and stopped writing. The girl let out a string of curses and tried shaking the pen but it still wouldn't write. She finally gave in and placed the pen on the table. She folded her forearms over the tabletop and looked back and forth between the busy boys before deciding to ask Katsuki's assistance first.
"Hey Katsuki, do you have an extra pen?"
"Fuck off, shitty girl," he snapped without looking up from his book. He was still evidently pissed at her.
Jeez. What's his deal? (Y/n)'s expression melted into a blank look and she rolled her eyes. She then turned to the boy next to her with a smile.
"Eijiro," the boy hummed in response and looked at her. "do you have an extra pen?"
"Sure. Just a sec," Kirishima said and took his bag to dig for another pen.
While (Y/n) waited for the boy to fetch the pen, another was thrown to her, almost hitting her arm in the process. The girl stared at the pen that was lying on top of her open book before looking up at the owner sitting in front of her.
"What's this for?" she questioned while picking it up.
"Take it, you dumbass! Didn't you say you needed a pen?!!"Katsuki snarled, his grip tightening significantly around the pen he was holding in his hand.
"And didn't you just tell me to fuck off?" (Y/n) asked in a scornful tone as she tossed it back to him. "Stay with it."
"Like fuck I-"
"Here," Kirishima stretched out the pen to (Y/n), meanwhile sending Katsuki odd glances from the corner of his eyes.
"Thanks," the girl took it with a smile. But even before she could continue writing, a gruff annoyed voice began protesting.
"Why the fuck didn't you take my pen?!! I gave you mine, didn't I?!"
(Y/n) heaved out a short, sigh and thinned her lips. "What are you getting so angry about? You said no first, why the sudden change of mind?"
Katsuki slammed his fist on the table loudly. "Because my pen is better than this idiot's pen!!!!"
(Y/n) scoffed while giving him a funny look, "We're rating pens now? What, does yours do? Write in rainbow colors and open secret doors?"
"Stop being so fucking difficult!!!"
"I'm being difficult?!! You're the one being-wait...." the girl stopped herself to narrow her eyes at Katsuki in suspicion. "Are you je-"."
"O-kay!!" Kirishima interjected loudly to gain the two's attention and dissipate the almost acrimonious tension. "So what was the question we were doing again? Number one or number five?"
(Y/n) remained silent but sent Kirishima a quick, grateful smile for stopping her before she sent Katsuki into another rage fit. Katsuki cursed under his breath and went back to his work and began to angrily write something down on his book.
The girl went back to her work but would occasionally send glances at Katsuki through her lashes.
He's...jealous...why is he even jealous? Because of a pen? Wow...why am I finding it adorable? Have I finally lost it?
(Y/n) felt someone nudge her elbow with theirs and she turned her head to look at Kirishima giving her a questioning look. That's when she noticed that her lips were pulled back in a dazed smile from her thoughts. The (h/c)-haired female simply shook her head and he nodded before going back to his work.
(Y/n) sent one last look at Katsuki, who was scowling at his book and she bit her lower lip.
Adorable...

"Ahh~I'm hungry..." Kirishima yawned loudly, throwing his head back while crossing his muscular arms behind his head. Already one hour had passed and food sounded like a great way to take a break from all that work.
"Yeah me too," (Y/n) giggled as she placed her pen down on her book. "Wanna get something to eat?"
"Totally!" he beamed at her and turned to Katsuki. "Hey man, wanna go down to get some food?"
"Piss off, shit for brains," Katsuki snapped and angrily flipped the page of his book to another empty one.
"Okay," Kirishima turned back to the girl. "Let's go?"
"Sure," the girl and began getting onto her feet. Kirishima was already on his feet and he lent her his hand to help her up. (Y/n) smiled gratefully at him before looking back at Katsuki, who saw the action and looked even more murderous as ever.
The girl internally smirked in amusement but smiled innocently at him as they began heading towards the door. "Be back in five! Don't burn anything else!'"
"Die, piece of shit!"

(Y/n) huffed in annoyance as she tried to push the start button on the microwave once more in vain. They'd been at it for quite some time now, trying to figure out how to work the machine which surprisingly became difficult for them to use.
"Ugh. How do you work this thing? It's like trying to build a motherboard," (Y/n) frowned at the microwave which had buttons she'd never seen before.
"Maybe you should press the one with the pizza icon."
"I tried. Doesn't work," (Y/n) shrugged and straightened up. She turned to face the male leaning back against the counter behind her and rested her hands on her hips. "Let's call him down."
"Or we should just press every button and see what happens," Kirishima suggested with a growing mischievous smile.
"You know how it'll go," (Y/n) giggled, mimicking his smile.
"How?"
(Y/n) popped both of her hands open like two mini explosions and mouthed- Boom!
The redhead doubled over with laughter while smacking his knee. "Yeah! Now that you've mentioned it, I'm wondering how on earth this house is still standing considering the fact that a walking time-bomb lives in here."
"True true," the girl swallowed a laugh and looked around the kitchen. "Every time I come here I'm always half expecting it to be on fire or something."
"You two chuckleheads having fun talking shit?!"
Both teenagers turned to look at a pissed off Katsuki bounding towards them. (Y/n) giggled inaudibly at his presence and crossed her arms over her chest. She had expected him to come barging into the kitchen, considering the fact that they had really delayed in there. He was probably in there to check on them and that just amused (Y/n) the more.
So she decided to poke fun at him.
"Oh hey Fireworks," she smiled at him when he went to stand beside her. "I even forgot you were here."
"The fuck's that's supposed to mean, huh?! I'll fucking kill you!" Katsuki snarled at the girl, making her laugh and roll her eyes.
"Hey man, I thought you weren't hungry."
"Tch. I changed my fucking mind." Katsuki said and briefly glanced at (Y/n) with an unreadable expression before quickly looking back at Kirishima.
(Y/n)'s eyebrows knitted together upon seeing the look Katsuki had given her and her smile faltered.
What in the world...
As (Y/n) pondered over the look he had given her, she failed to hear Kirishima explain their predicament with the microwave to him and was brought back by Katsuki pushing her aside to head over to the machine.
"It isn't that difficult, you idiots," he said as he set the right codes to get the microwave running.
"Wow, didn't think it was that easy," Kirishima chuckled sheepishly before comically bowing in front of Katsuki. "Teach me, oh great master."
(Y/n) snorted, deciding to push back her thoughts and focus on the moment.
"I wouldn't ask him to help you," she nudged her thumb at Katsuki. "He's the worst teacher on earth. Take it from someone who has experience."
"Haah?! The fuck was that?!!"
"You're right. I change my mind," Kirishima straightened in humorous realization and shuffled closer to (Y/n) to wrap his arm around her shoulder. He then leaned closer to her ear to speak in hushed tones as if it were some kind of gossip. "Maybe we should just stick to not knowing. It's better that way. Right (Y/n)?"
If eyes could kill, Katsuki would've struck down Kirishima like lightning. His hands formed into trembling fists as his throat emitted a low, animalistic growl.
"You fucking-Get your grubby hands off her, you asshole!!" Katsuki lunged at Kirishima, arm swung back, ready to deal a blow to his face.
In a quick, fluid motion, the sharp-toothed male was able to duck the punch but he wasn't fast enough to escape the headlock that Katsuki put him into.
"Whoa chill bro-wait! Wait!" the boy protested as he tried to pry Katsuki's strong arm from around his neck.
"Shitty weird hair! I'm gonna smash your brains in if you touch her again!!" Katsuki roared and tightened his grip around him as his other hand began roughly rubbing his knuckles over the boy's head.
"Ow! Ow!" Kirishima cried in pain. "I'm sorry!! Have mercy!!"
(Y/n), who was watching the whole thing, was doubled over with rib-cracking laughter. Even though he was acting out of jealousy, it was really nice to see Katsuki 'play' with another guy, even if his games were borderline violent.
Another thing was that the tense atmosphere between them from that morning was gone. Ever since they began studying, she hadn't felt it. Sure they were about to have an argument earlier but that was because of another thing. And that was good. Kirishima really did play his part as a catalyst well, unknowingly.
As she laughed, Katsuki turned to (Y/n) with a scowl. "You think this is funny?! Wanna die, shithead?!"
"No! Katsuki!" she began to protest but was too late as Katsuki already grabbed her and put her too in a headlock. "Wait! Hahahahaha! Stop! Stooop!!"
***
(Y/n) and Kirishima both put on their shoes as they prepared to head back home. Night had already fallen and they had to sleep early since they had school the next day. Katsuki stood at the door, overseeing their departure as they got out of the house.
"Hey bro, that was really fun. We should do this again and-" Kirishima said as he turned around to smile at Katsuki only for him to slam the door in his face. "-Okay. See you tomorrow."
(Y/n) chuckled and patted his back soothingly, "Don't worry about him. He's just a bit...difficult."
"Heh, yeah I know that," the boy smiled and turned to walk away from Katsuki's household, with (Y/n) falling in step with him. "So, walk you home?"
The female playfully punched his shoulder and shook her head. "You don't have to. I'm perfectly fine."
"Oh come on, (Y/n)," the male laughed as he slung his arm around the girl's shoulder. "It won't be manly to leave a girl to walk home alone."
The female rolled her eyes with a giggle. "Okay, fine. If you insi-"
(Y/n) was cut off by a door slamming behind them, making them both stop and turn around to see a seething Katsuki stomping towards them. He had put on a jacket and scarf, prepared against the night's cold.
"Uh oh," Kirishima silently chuckled as he dropped his arm from around (Y/n)'s shoulder. "That worked fast."
Before (Y/n) could ask him what he meant by that, Katsuki had already grabbed her by the wrist and began pulling her away from Kirishima and towards the direction of her home.
"Katsuki! What are you-?"
"I'm the one walking you home! Not that fucking asshole!"
(Y/n) frowned for a moment and rolled her eyes when she finally joined the dots on why he was acting that way.
"Uhhh....okay? But you didn't have to be rude. I didn't even say goodbye."
"Shut up. Just wave or some shit," Katsuki snapped over his shoulder, making the girl sigh wearily. She then sent Kirishima a quick wave from over her shoulder and he returned it with a thumb's up and a wink.
The boy's implications dawned on the girl's mind, making her roll her eyes and turn around to focus on her way forward. Her eyes trailed to the back of Katsuki's head. His glowering eyes were set in front, his whole face twisted in anger as he pulled her along. (Y/n) smiled.
Things had gone well that night and things between them were now straightened out, even though Katsuki looked like he was dragging her to bury her alive someplace.
***
The walk home was completely silent, with (Y/n) throwing sneaky sidelong glances at Katsuki all through. The amused smile she spotted since waving goodbye to Kirishima was still on. She found it completely humorous of the fact that Katsuki would get jealous of the fact that Kirishima wanted to walk her home. But then again, she also found that cute too.
In addition, despite the fact that he had stopped dragging her and was now walking with the same pace as her, he hadn't let go of her wrist and would squeeze it whenever he felt her smug gaze on him.
When they arrived at (Y/n)'s home, the girl simply let him off with a 'night homie' and started going ahead only to be yanked back by Katsuki's unrelenting grip on her wrist.
(Y/n) looked back at him, her (e/c) eyes falling on where his hand gripped around her wrist. Katsuki immediately relinquished his hold on her and stuffed his hand in his pocket. (Y/n) looked back at him and inwardly smirked at his scowl, already knowing what was about to ensue.
Ooh, this is gonna be good. "Alright. What's wrong?" (Y/n) dramatically swept her arms through the air. "Go on, purge. Air out your grievances. Release your inner lamentations to me. Cry ou-"
"Shut up! What the fuck was that back there?! Huh?!" Katsuki snarled, earning a confused look from (Y/n).
"What was what back where?" she asked guilelessly and tilted her head to sell the innocent look.
The ash-blond bared his teeth at her and grabbed her arms, pulling her closer to him. "Back there with that fucking idiot!! What was that?!"
"Idiot?" (Y/n) frowned innocently and looked around. "What idiot? I don't see no-"
"That fucking shark mouth!!!" Katsuki said with a roar, earning a small wince from (Y/n).
"Ooh...Eijiro you mean..." the girl laughed hesitantly before her lips were pulled into a pout. "Why? Did I do something wrong?"
"Something wrong?" Katsuki tightened his hands around her arms and brought his face even closer to hers. "You were fucking all over him like some fucking lovesick school girl!!"
"All...over...?" the girl asked slowly as if she was a child not understanding his words.
Katsuki let out a loud growl. "Stop acting stupid!! You know what I'm talking about!!"
"Ooh," (Y/n)'s face up lit with realization and she laughed. "You mean how jealous you were back there? Yeah, I totally noticed that. I was just waiting for you to burst."
"Je-" Katsuki sputtered in surprise as he leaned away from her before his initial anger returned. "I wasn't jealous!!!"
"Hmm...yeah...uh huh sure and I'm the fucking pope," (Y/n) rose an unconvinced eyebrow and smirked. "Seriously Fireworks, I don't get it, why were you even jealous in the first place?"
Katsuki's eyebrows twitched involuntarily, his lips pulling back from his teeth in contrast to his flushed face. He let her arms go and tightened his hands into fists, the knuckles almost turning white due to how tightly he held them.
"I wasn't jealous, you piece of shit!!" Katsuki roared stubbornly, making (Y/n) roll her eyes. "Why the fuck would I be jealous of shitty hair?! That little fuck got nothing on me!! I'm not some fucking insecure moron and if that's what you think then you should get your brain checked."
"So you're not gonna admit it?"
"I'll break your fucking legs."
"Heh, well, how 'bout no," (Y/n) shrugged coolly as she patted her jeans pockets to feel for her phone. "Come to think of it, I did forget to text Eijiro goodnight. Jeez, I'm such a-"
The female was cut off when the boy grabbed her wrists and pulled her to a hard chest. She looked up at the boy with a cocky smirk and he tsked, his crimson-colored eyes darting away from her. He cursed under his breath before opening his mouth to speak.
"Why the fuck do you always do that?"
"Do what?"
Katsuki clicked his tongue and continued avoiding eye contact with (Y/n) as his cheeks reddened. All the rage was drained from his face and was replaced by embarrassment.
"Pay attention to others when you're with me?"
"What?" (Y/n)'s eyebrows creased. "Is that why you..."
Katsuki's eyes fell back on hers and his scowl relaxed into a neutral frown. He slowly released her wrists, causing her to fall to her sides as he stared into her eyes.
"Look, I know you told me that I'm irreplaceable and shit but..." he ignored her question, his voice almost falling into a whisper. For a fleeting moment, his eyes flickered down to her lips before snapping back to her (e/c) eyes. "I don't like it when you ignore me. Especially when you're around other fucktards. I fucking hate it."
(Y/n) exhaled through her nose, a smile creeping up her lips. She had finally figured out why he had given her that look back in his kitchen. It took him some time to actually remember that he was still number one in her heart and that there was no reason to blow off on Kirishima. No matter how many times she assured him, there was always some insecurity hanging around, even if he'd vehemently deny it. Katsuki was a person who always wanted assurance, to be constantly reminded that he still got it. (Y/n) connected it with something from his past, probably how he'd always be praised as the best. She guessed that it didn't fall short in relationships.
"Awww~" the girl chuckled as her hands reached up to gently pinch his cheeks. "How on earth can I ignore one of the most amazing people I know?"
"The fuck you mean one of the most amazing?" he narrowed his eyes at her while swatting her hands away. "I'm the fucking best."
"Sure. Sure. Like number five in my list," she snorted. "From the bottom."
"Haaah? Why the fuck am I at the bottom?!!"
"Why should you be at the top?"
"Stupid piece of shit! Motherfucking ass fuck you!"
(Y/n) burst into gales of laughter, her hand flying up to her cover her mouth as Katsuki went on spewing insults at her.
"Okay. Okay," she said between laughs and held up her hands to calm him. "I get it Mr. I'm Amazing. You're the best. Now shut up before you hurt yourself with all that elephant-sized ego."
"Why you fucking -"
"Shhhhhhh," (Y/n) instantly silenced him by placing a finger on his lips. "Inner voices Katsuki. Inner voices."
Katsuki looked down at the finger still on his lips, his eyes nearly going cross-eyed in the process. His eyes fell back on her and his eyebrows furrowed in anger but made no move in swatting her finger away as expected.
(Y/n) let her hand fall back to her sides and she sent him a cheeky grin.
"Good boy."
"I'm not a fucking dog."
"Of course not. You're my wittle adowable Fireworks," (Y/n) cooed in a toddler's voice while pinching his cheeks once more. Her lips were pulled into a pout that Katsuki found extremely adorable but he wasn't going to tell her that. Instead, he detached her fingers from his cheeks and tried to prevent her from pinching him once more.
"G-get off me, you weird moron!! What the fuck?! Stop touching me all the time!!" Katsuki tried pushing her away but she resisted. She was laughing the whole time, visibly enjoying how flustered she was making him as her fingers tried to grab on to his red cheeks.
"Why are you resisting now?" she laughed.
"Will you stop!!"
"Okay," the girl said, her hands going limp in Katsuki's grip. "I give up."
The boy frowned in confusion. "You're giving up like that?"
"Yep," she nodded and yanked her hands away from his loosened grip. "I just realized how late it is and that you're wasting my precious time instead of going back home."
"I'm wasting your time?!!" Katsuki roared as rage washed over his face. "You're the one who fucking can't keep her hands off me!!!"
(Y/n) smirked and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Look who's touching me now...." she mused in a sing-song voice, eyebrow raised triumphantly.
Katsuki's eyes widened for a bit when he realized that while screaming at her, he had unintentionally grabbed her shoulders. He hastily pried his hands off her as if he had been burned and took a few steps away from her.
"Dumbass shit."
"Ditto bitch."
Katsuki's expression twisted into one of anger and he clicked his tongue.
"You stupid little-!" Katsuki cut himself off with a small gasp, shock, and surprise washing over his face when he felt a pair of soft lips connect with his cheek. Pink color instantly crept up his face as he remained numbed at the spot.
(Y/n) let her lips linger on his skin for a while before she pulled away from him. A smile grew on her face as she looked at Katsuki's stupefied expression.
Her stomach was doing flips and she decided to quickly say something before it was too late and she was also rendered tongue-tied.
"Goodnight..." she said breathlessly as her eyes roamed all over his frozen face. He wasn't looking at her but at something over her shoulder.
The male remained silent for a while before responding with a weak nod. The girl nodded too and turned away from him to walk to her house. She didn't look behind and kept her head forward until she was finally in the confines of her house.
She quickly closed the door behind her and leaned back against it, her widened eyes affixed at a distance. Her lips still tingled with the ghost feeling of Katsuki's skin on them and she felt the urge to brush her fingers on them to still affirm that whatever happened, happened. Her previous confident mien melted away to reveal what exactly lied underneath the whole time.
"Oh my God..." she whispered in disbelief as she pushed away from the door. "That was so scary..."
However, her body was still rendered stumped causing her to stumble on her feet and quickly catch herself with the wall before she tumbled to the ground. She leaned her forehead against the cool surface and closed her eyes. Her heart was still doing a mile a minute and her whole face burned red hot, from her neck to the tips of her ears.
She took in a deep shaky breath and opened her eyes. She turned around to lean her back against the wall, body slumping as she threw her head back to stare at the ceiling. The girl placed a hand on her forehead and sighed.
"That boy is gonna be the death of me...I swear..."
