Chappy 47

Katsuki stared at the dead girl in his arms with a vacant look on his face. Everything was lost to him. Cold, dark emptiness shrouded his soul as he blankly peered at her lifeless face. She was still staring up at 'him', her (e/c) eyes having lost color and the warmth he always familiarized them with. His hand went from under her back to her cheek and his thumb brushed over the cold skin. He then gently brushed his thumb across her lower lip, the blood having had dried up and he faintly smiled.

Even when dead, she was still the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen.

The loud sirens of ambulances and fire engines pierced through the air as they arrived at the scene. The sounds were all a blur to Katsuki who was only focused on (Y/n).

Katsuki looked up into her eyes and a thought suddenly struck him, causing his eyes to widen. Gently, he gathered the corpse into his hands before getting onto his feet.

He turned around and began walking away from the scene. Multiple gasps and murmurs resonated from the crowd that parted like a river to make way for the boy. They all watched him with hushed whispers, waiting for what he'd do.

"Excuse me, young man!!!" a male voice called out for him as hurried footsteps approached him. "Please place that young lady on the stretcher!!"

"Move," Katsuki ordered without looking at him, his expression stoic and focused on his goal.

The male nurse, however, ignored his command and tried to take the girl from his hands. This struck a chord in Katsuki, who immediately snapped.

"What the-!!" he pulled back from the nurse and shot him a dark look. "Don't fucking touch her!!"

The man stepped back instinctively. "But young man-!"

"I'll take care of her!!" he roared while taking a threatening step towards the nurse who dared take (Y/n) away from her when he should've been there in the first place to prevent it all from happening. "I'll fucking prove she's not dead!!!"

Realization dawned on the man's face. He looked down at the lifeless body in the boy's arms and back at Katsuki. He immediately recognized Katsuki's behavior as denial of losing a loved one, commonly seen in his line of work. But that didn't mean he could leave her in his hands, not when the male showed signs of mental instability.

"Sir, if that is so-" he began, extending out his hands to take the body but was cut off when Katsuki instantly bolted in the opposite direction.

He gasped and alerted the other nurses along with the police who had arrived at the moment. The police began chasing after the boy who was solely driven by his desire to prove she wasn't dead.

Katsuki didn't care whether they were chasing him. Taking her to the nearest hospital was only in his mind. He didn't care whether he was tired or injured. He had to prove he was right.

That she wasn't dead.

"HEY!! STOP RIGHT THERE!!!" one of the officers yelled after him.

"BACKUP!! WE NEED BACKUP!! BLOND BOY RUNNING WITH A BODY NEARING 535 STREET TATOOIN STATION!! BACKUP NOW!!!!"

Katsuki groaned, wincing in pain as he harshly took a right turn to shake off the police. He let out an inaudible sigh of relief when he saw the hospital in view.

The police were almost catching him and if they did, it would be over for him. He grunted as he shifted the body over his uninjured shoulder, giving him more mobility.

He extended his left arm back, gritting his teeth in pain as he prepared to blast them. He detonated a large stun grenade explosion on the police, instantly throwing them off track and propelling him forward simultaneously.

He stabilized his momentum after putting some distance between them before continuing to race towards the hospital.

When he arrived, he burst through the doors and began looking for a doctor. The people at the reception whipped their heads towards the boy as they stared at him in shock. With his bloody, sooty and torn clothes while carrying a body over his shoulder, he looked like a disaster.

"I need a fucking doctor!!" he began screaming while frantically looking around the reception of frozen people like a mad person. "Bring me one or I'll fucking blow this building down!!!"

Fortunate, they were quick to respond, as a couple of nurses and a doctor instantly brought a stretcher to Katsuki, who gently placed the body on it. The nurses nodded to Kastuki, signaling him as an 'okay, we're good' before dragging her body into a secluded area where Katsuki wasn't allowed in even after a couple of protests.

In the curtained room, the nurses hastily attached her onto a heart monitor which didn't produce any beeping sound at first. Just a long constant flat piercing sound that penetrated through their ears.

The doctors began the resuscitation procedure, first by identifying that blood had entered the pericardial space resulting in her 'drowning'.

"Cardial tamponade! We need to drain the fluid!" the doctor announced as he extended his hand to the nurse beside him.

The nurse gave him a large needle which he stuck into her chest, precisely into her pericardial sac. The blood began to drain through a pipe until her pericardium was clear. The doctor glanced at the heart monitor and frowned. She didn't revive and the monitor still flatlined.

They decided to use another tactic.

The doctor carefully took out the needle and handed it to a nurse to discard it. He then tore open her shirt, before applying some kind of clear liquid onto her chest.

"Start it up!" he instructed a nurse who turned on the defibrillator and gave the doctor the paddles. The doctor stared at the girl's face while rubbing the paddles together.

"Charging...two hundred...clear!!!" a nurse said.

The doctor placed the paddles against her chest, shooting electricity straight to her heart, jolting her body in place.

The monitor still flatlined. The doctor cursed and rubbed the paddles again.

"Charging...three hundred...clear!!!!"

________

"Charging...four hundred...clear!!!"

________

"Charging...five hundred...clear!!"

________

Silence filled the room and the doctor's face fell. He took the paddles off her chest and hung his head. He looked up and exchanged crestfallen looks with the nurse before he sighed. A nurse turned off the defibrillator as the doctor put away the paddles. It was of no use. The patient was already gone.

The doctor looked back at the girl and hooked a finger under his mask to pull it down. He set his lips in a thin line as his grey eyes stared into her glassy ones.

Such a young life lost. He released a resigned sigh as he placed his hand over her still open eyes. Rest now child, you must've fought well. He then dragged his hand down, closing them.

"Time of death unknown," he said while turning to the nurse who already had a book out and was writing it down. "Announced, dead on arrival."

The nurses covered up (Y/n)'s body and severed the link between her and the heart monitor. The doctor shook his head in disappointment as he went out the makeshift room to head where a nervous wreck of a Katsuki was.

When the ash-blond saw him approach, he ran towards him but stopped in his tracks upon seeing the doctor's sullen expression.

He began shaking his head, his eyes widened in skepticism.

"I'm sorry," the doctor said, his voice barely above a whisper as he delivered the bad news.

"No...no...no. NO!! NO!! SHE'S NOT GONE!!!" Katsuki barked and pointed at the doctor. "YOU FUCKERS WERE SUPPOSED TO SAVE HER!!! SHE'S NOT DEAD!!!"

"Sir," the grey-eyed man took a step forward towards the raging boy. "Please calm down..."

Katsuki pulled his hair in frustration and pain, tears brimming in his eyes. "She's not dead!! She's not fucking dead!!!"

"Sir-"

Katsuki ignored the doctor, blinded by his rage and pain. He turned to the nearest object next to him, which happened to be a chair and grabbed it. With a scream, he hurled it at the wall, denting it as a leg broke off the chair. Another smash echoed through the hallway when the flower pot he had thrown connected with the wall across from him.

Even though he knew they were right, he was still in denial. The only people who could save her failed. It was over.

The doctor, seeing that he was getting out of control, took out his pager and called for assistance.

The boy continued raging as he cried out (Y/n)'s name. He dragged his hands down his face while pacing around. Suddenly, he swung his arm back and connected his fist with the wall, burrowing a hole into it.

He had failed her. He roared and punched another hole into the wall. He had failed to save her.

Multiple hands suddenly grabbed him by the shoulders and pulled him away from the wall. Katsuki thrashed against the nurse's hold, his sheer heartache driving him mad. The pain in his chest overpowered the pain in his shoulder and broken fingers, destroying him from within. His movements proved difficult for the two nurses to hold him down and they quickly called for backup.

Taking advantage of their distraction, Katsuki wiggled his way out of their hold and rounded up to punch them before trying to escape. Two other nurses blocked his escape route.

His eyes were blown wide open with rage, nostrils flared and his features red and angry as explosions detonated from his palms. He was about to attack the two nurses when a couple of arms went around his neck and back, pulling him back.

"Let...me...go!!" he struggled against the nurses, hands raised up as he set off explosions towards them. "Let me go!!! I'll fucking kill all of you!!"

"Grab his hands!!!"

Katsuki's hands were grabbed, held together and pressed on the ground by one of the nurse's foot, stopping him from using his Quirk. The nurse that held him by his neck, kicked the back of his legs, sending Katsuki toppling down to the ground. Another placed his knee between Katsuki's shoulder blades to prevent him from standing while others held his arms, feet, and head still.

"Argghhh!! Let me go!!" Katsuki still tried to wiggle his way out even though it was of no use. "Fucking-Let me fucking-Arghh!!"

"It's time to calm down young man," the nurse holding him down by the shoulder blades informed him as he inserted a syringe in his neck. "Time to go to sleep. You've done quite enough."

"Stop...Damn it! I won't fucking...let you!" Katsuki gritted his teeth as he struggled against the fast-working of the dose. He wouldn't let it win. He had to get to (Y/n) and see her. "Dammit...I need..." He was losing. His head felt heavy, his eyes drooping. "I need her..."

Katsuki's body went limp, finally losing to the battle to the drug before the male nurses cautiously let him go. They all watched his unmoving body wearily. Restraining him was no joke, considering the fact that he was injured.

The doctor, who was watching everything unfold in disbelief, walked towards them.

"Take him to an empty ward room," he instructed them, his grey eyes glued onto the sleeping boy. "Ensure someone watches him so that he doesn't do anything to anyone or himself. I'll come to treat his arm afterwards."

"Yes sir," the nurses nodded before one of them lifted Katsuki up over his shoulder and turned to take him to an unoccupied room.

The doctor watched them leave and heaved out a sigh before turning to get his supplies.

Katsuki's eyes fluttered open and he winced as his eyes began adjusting to the light of the room. He groaned and turned his head to the side to look around the room. He frowned as he failed to register the foreign place before the smell of medicine hit his senses. His eyes widened as the recollection of everything came back to him.

He was still in the hospital.

He was restrained and forced to go to sleep.

(Y/n) was dead.

The recall of (Y/n) hit him hard like bricks and he sat up. Exhaustion was still wearing him down, accompanied by a throbbing headache he had and he felt like going back to sleep. He felt a tightening sensation on his left arm and he looked at it. From his left shoulder all the way down to his hand, a white bandage, already doused in blood, was wrapped around it.

He sighed and got off the bed, making his way to the door. He opened it, only to meet with a nurse standing outside his room.

The man perked up and moved to block his way. "Young man, you-"

"Where is she?" Katsuki interrupted him, his crimson-colored eyes staring hard at the nurse.

"You need to rest and-" the nurse encouraged but was cut off again by Katsuki.

"I want to see her."

The nurse scratched the back of his neck. The boy had the right to see the body but the manner in which he carried himself earlier made the nurse hesitate. He looked back at Katsuki, who despite the aloof expression he had on, looked defeated and downright ready to crumble. The nurse nodded in defeat and stepped aside for Katsuki to get out of the room.

Katsuki stood next to (Y/n)'s body in the morgue. The body was cleaned of all the blood and covered up by a cloth, only the head exposed. Her skin was deathly pale and she looked cold to the touch. She resembled a ghost, even her hair had lost its natural shine. Her eyes were closed at least.

"Hey."

Katsuki's rough voice cut through the silent atmosphere of the morgue as he addressed the dead girl.

"You lied to me, you shitty girl," he continued, staring hard at the corpse's face. "You said you'd never leave. You fucking lied."

He went silent as he recalled the night it happened. The deal they had made all those weeks ago. The promise she had promised to keep those many nights ago even though they had made it while fucking around.

He scoffed. It may have sounded stupid to anyone else who had caught wind of their deal but to him, it was an insurance at least. That she wouldn't leave him.

"You lied you piece of shit," Katsuki rasped as he glared daggers at the dead girl. "You promised. And now you're fucking gone."

Katsuki ran his hand through his face and looked up at the ceiling.

"I never even got to finally call you my fucking girlfriend..." he muttered to himself before looking back at the body. "See what you're doing me?" he asked, pointing a finger to his chest. "You're still making me go crazy even though you're gone. You must be so fucking happy. Laughing up there like the idiot you are. Must be having a blast, huh?"

He then let out a humorless chuckle and shook his head. "I'm fucking talking to a dead person...I've fucking lost my damn mind."

Katsuki fell silent for a while, simply staring at her before his hand made its way to hers. He took it into his hands and gently drew circles on its upper side with his thumb.

He couldn't remember a time when she was cold, only ever warm due to her Quirk. Just like he was. But feeling her cold hand made him shudder inwardly.

"I hope you're fucking happy. The fucking nerve," he said. "Fucking dying like you even have permission. Fuck you, stupid dumbass," the corner of his lips lifted up, but the smile was lifeless. "Come on, you should wake up. I still have your fucking debt. Wouldn't want you haunting me and shit..."

He silently scoffed and placed her hand down. All through, he had this hope. This small hope that she'd wake up but it was useless to hope.

She had been dead for two hours.

She was gone for good.

"Guess I'll see you at the funeral huh?..." Katsuki mumbled, still staring at her hand, "Don't worry. You'll finally get to see me in a fucking tux........ Even though you won't be wearing white..."

He sighed and fell silent. He couldn't cry anymore. He felt numb. Dead inside.

He continued staring at her hand until he noticed something. The tips of her fingers were slowly turning black. He knitted his eyebrows and looked at her face then back to her fingers. The mysterious black color was already gone, replaced by the death-pale color.

I must be seeing things. The boy blinked while shaking his head. Better get the fuck outta here before I completely lose my mind.

Katsuki covered up her hand and turned to walk to the door. A shadow was cast over his eyes as he distanced himself from her body.

As his hand went to grab the handle, he froze. He lifted his head a bit, his crimson eyes widened in lack of credence. The ash-blond slowly looked over his shoulder at the girl.

No fucking-!

He instantly dashed back to her and gasped. (Y/n)'s eyes were wide open, unblinking as she stared up at the ceiling. Katsuki's heart raced at the impossible happening. It was a scene straight out of a horror movie and it struck terror to his heart.

But he was also in shock. Disbelief that she was alive. Color was slowly returning to her face but one would think she was still dead from how she endlessly stared at the ceiling.

The only proof was how her index finger kept continuously twitching, lifting up the cover slightly from its movement.

In his shock, Katsuki didn't hear the coroner enter the room and inform him that it was time to prepare the body.

He also failed to hear the horrified scream of the coroner upon seeing that (Y/n) was alive as he crashed into a nearby table before rushing out to inform the doctors.

All he saw was the doctors bursting through the door, accidentally pushing him out of the way as they stood over (Y/n).

The three doctors were also shocked by the miracle as they began looking for a response. One of them shone a light over her both eyes before nodding to the others. The doctors placed her onto the stretcher and dashed her out of the morgue.

Katsuki still remained rooted to the ground, widened eyes staring at the empty table where her body was once laid.

It was then he blinked back to reality, his mind still reeling from what he had seen. Only one thought crossed his mind.

(Y/n) was alive.

His (Y/n) was back.
