Chappy 30
"Katsuki? What're you doing here?"
"What's it look like I'm doing here, dumbass?"
(Y/n) chuckled at the male, who was looking anywhere else but her. She took in the sight of his casual attire, a navy blue shirt, and black cargo shorts. Her (e/c) eyes then fell on the shopping trolley before him and the objects thrown carelessly inside it. She looked back at him, her eyebrows knitted.
"Well, you didn't strike me as the shopping type," she admitted with a smile, making Katsuki scowl at her.
"I wouldn't be here if that old hag didn't send me!! Now stop laughing or I'll kill you!!"
The girl shrugged, a smile still on her lips. "I'm not."
Katsuki groaned inwardly, his eyes watching the girl who walked closer to him to look at the contents of his trolley. Looking at her, he remembered how Shouto had threatened him nearly four days ago. Just the thought of it made him scoff internally. Who did that fucker think he was to think that he'd stay away from (Y/n)? As if.
"You really don't know how to do this, do you?" the boy focused back on her to see her looked at him in disbelief while she held up a large box of detergent.
"Of course I do, dammit!!" the ash-blond snapped at her as heat crept up his neck and ears.
The girl shook her head in disapproval as she placed back the detergent and rummaged through the other items in his trolley. "You got the detergent all wrong. You shouldn't place any soap product together with food products," she said as she pushed the soap products to one side and left the edibles on the other. She picked up the milk carton and she studied it. Her nose crinkled in disgust and she returned the carton back to the trolley. "This milk is one day away from expiring," she glanced at the box of cereals and shook her head. "No one buys this cereal," she pointed at the roll of tissues. "This tissue is of zero quality. My God, you're like a shopping disaster. And this," she held up a box and set her lips in a grim line. "Really Katsuki? If you were to buy me this type of tampons, I'd shove them all so far up your nose you'll be hacking up cotton for a week."
The ash-blond's crimson-colored eyes narrowed in irritation, his blush intensifying.
"How was I supposed to fucking know what kind of shit she wanted?!!" he yelled at her, his hands balling into fists, crumpling the paper that was in one of them. The other customers around them turned to look at him in surprise, others walking away from them.
The unperturbed girl sighed wearily and tossed the pack back into the trolley. "It's like common sense, Katsuki. Quality over value. Besides, there's a lot to consider, level of absorbency, tampon size, menstrual flow..."
The boy's face reddened over her words that made him extremely uncomfortable. "Will you stop talking about that?! I was going to change it!!!"
(Y/n) shook her head and smiled. "Don't worry. I'll just ignore your ignorance."
"Huh?! Say that again!!"
"Hmm," the girl hummed in thought as she briefly checked the time on her phone. "I still got time, besides, I was just shopping for one item. I could still help you out with your..." she gesticulated his whole form. "...shopping issues."
"I don't need your fucking help!!"
The girl walked nearer to him and patted him on his shoulder in a mock assuring gesture. "Yes. Yes, you do."
Katsuki swatted her hand away and growled at her, which (Y/n) ignored and snatched the list from his hand. Her (e/c) eyes went through the items, instantly recognizing his handwriting. She looked back at him, narrowing her eyes in suspicion.
"What."
"If your mom would've written this, she'd have specified what to get, meaning that when telling you what to get, you just wrote down the items instead of also writing the specific types. Katsuki...I'm disappointed in you," the girl tsked, shaking his head at him in disapproval.
Katsuki gritted his teeth. "I didn't think it was that important!!!"
"Yeah, exactly. You didn't think."
"Why you-!!"
"Anywho, shall we?" the girl cut him off, gesturing her hand in the opposite direction.
Katsuki grabbed the handle of the trolley, a sulking frown still on his lips. "Fine."
"We should first return all these stuff. Then start a fresh, okay?"
"Cool."
"And we also need to get a bigger trolley since we need to separate edibles from inedible."
"Are you always this nagging?!"
(Y/n) knitted her eyebrows at the male pushing the trolley beside her. "If I don't nag you now, what're you gonna do when your future partner sends you out for shopping, huh?"
Katsuki's eyes widened slightly at her words, his cheeks tinting red as he quickly looked away from her.
"That's not the point," he muttered under his breath which the girl caught.
"Of course it is. So you should be thankful I'm here. By the time I'm done with you, you'd be a rival to the shopping channels."
Katsuki scoffed. "Whatever."
***
"Okay, that's the fifth item. Next is spice..." (Y/n) mumbled, crossing off the item on the list in her mind as they headed to the spices aisle.
Katsuki pushed the trolley beside her in silence, observing everything she did.
The girl carefully looked at the different spices, humming in thought as she tried to pick the best one.
"Hey, Katsuki."
"What."
"Which type of spices do you guys use?"
"How should I know?"
"Of course you don't..." she muttered under her breath away from his hearing and picked up a container of paprika. She checked the expiry date, satisfied with its long-term life and placed it in the 'food section' on the trolley.
"Remember, never fail to check for expiry dates. Also, the shop attendants always place the ones about to expire at the front so that they'll be taken first. Never let that confuse you, so you should always be careful, okay?"
"Cool."
(Y/n) smiled to herself at Katsuki's response. Though he didn't look all that excited to have an impromptu shopping teacher, he was doing well in listening to her, and that made her feel proud of herself.
Is this how teachers feel when the whole class pays attention to their lesson?
"Next up, detergent," she said as they headed to the detergent aisle.
She checked the list, seeing that he had written detergent twice.
Hmm. Must've meant both liquid soap and powder soap.
The girl surveyed the various liquid detergents before picking the one that had the most favorable smell and placed it in the 'inedible section' in the trolley.
"Always place any kinds of liquid facing up, not lying down so that it doesn't spill. Another thing, you should always check if the cap is broken and that it's not leaking before placing it into the trolley so that it doesn't mess up the other stuff. Okay?"
"Sure."
"Oh and uh..." she shuffled closer to him and showed him the list while pointing at an item. "You wrote dishwashing liquid here. I'm gonna get it, so why don't you get the powder soap over there?" she requested, pointing at the farthest shelf of the aisle. "It's a blue box with a big smiling sun at the middle."
Katsuki nodded and turned to get it. (Y/n) then turned to look for the dishwashing liquid. She hummed a song to herself as her eyes raked through the variety. Her eyes landed on the one she was looking for but unluckily for her, it was at the very top of the shelf.
"Seriously?" she muttered under her breath, turning to look at both sides for a shopping attendant to help her out but found none.
She sighed in frustration and stood up on her tip toes while trying to get it. The tips of her fingers brushed against the outer surface of the container as she struggled to grab it.
"Almost...got it-ah!" she gasped in surprise when she felt two strong arms going around her hips and lifting her up. Her widened eyes looked down to see Katsuki staring back up at her in nonchalance.
The girl sent him a grateful smile and grabbed the item. Katsuki gently slid her back down onto her feet, his arms inevitably ending up around her waist with her pressed up against his chest.
"Uh..." a small blush appeared on her cheeks at the close proximity as she placed her hands against his chest to pull away from him.
Katsuki unwrapped his arms from around her, a blush also on his cheeks.
"Thanks," (Y/n) muttered shyly as she turned to head back to the trolley.
"Sure," he responded while following her.
(Y/n) placed the container in the trolley and immediately busied herself with looking at the list, intentionally hiding the small blush that was on her cheeks.
Why am I blushing?! It was just an act of assistance...but then so, why is my heart beating this fast? Maybe I'm getting sick...weird...
"What's next?" Katsuki's gruff voice pulled the girl from her thoughts as she raised her eyebrows at him in question before realizing what he meant.
"Oh yeah! Water," she responded, looking back away from him as they headed towards the beverage aisle. (Y/n) dismissed her weird reaction from earlier, terming it as an involuntary, internal chain reaction to some unknown factor.
When they got there, she opened the fridge and took out a bottle while checking its price. She scrunched her nose in disbelief, her eyes narrowing at the bottle.
"What the fuck?! Why is it this expensive? What is it? Jesus' tears?" she put the bottle back in, unaware of Katsuki's amused smirk, and took out another.
"This one's at least," she scoffed and picked two other bottles before placing them in the trolley.
"What? No conditions on these ones?" Katsuki jeered at her, his smirk increasing.
"Hmm?" the girl looked at him. "Ya. Don't buy the ones that have their seals broken."
Katsuki's smirk fell replacing it with a frown in contrast to (Y/n)'s smug smile.
"Come on, we have fifteen more items to go and more for you to learn young grasshopper."

(Y/n) and Katsuki headed to Katsuki's place with (Y/n) helping him to carry the bags. She, of course, chose to carry the lightest together with her one item.
"Okay, so, did you watch last night's episode of Genesis of Anarchy?" (Y/n) questioned the male who briefly glanced at her.
"No. I was busy," he simply responded.
(Y/n) gasped. "Then, you'll not believe this but, Peter died."
"What?!" Katsuki exclaimed in disbelief making the girl nod in confirmation.
"I know right? Peter was like, the main heart of the whole show and he just died! Just like that!" the girl shrugged her shoulders carelessly, shaking her head as she remembered the previous night's episode.
"He's not dead. He's the leader of the Firestorm tribe. They'll be nothing without him," Katsuki countered her with an as-a-matter-of-fact tone.
"That's what I thought before Shin, his former master, remember? The old guy with a beard that sweeps the floor?"
"Yeah?"
"He confirmed his death and so, like, he told the Firestorm tribe that a new leader shall arise from the ashes. Meaning they burnt Peter's corpse and the smoke from the ashes would reveal the next leader." the girl explained.
"I thought Shin flew to the Commune land to talk with the other leaders of the Anarchy tribes?" Katsuki asked the girl.
"Oh, he came back after hearing that Peter died."
Katsuki nodded in understanding. To be honest, before, he never gave a single fuck about any TV show but after (Y/n) revealed to him one time that she was obsessed with Genesis of Anarchy, he tried watching it. Mostly, the real reason behind it was because she told him that no one else seemed interested in it and that she's always wanted someone to talk about it with. Katsuki, of course, said that he watches it when in fact had no idea what the fuck that was. So he started watching it and in time, found himself actually enjoying it and following it up.
"Was the next leader revealed?" he inquired as they drew closer to Katsuki's door.
"Nope. But they will next time. Hey, by the way, they'll be having a marathon of GOA starting Monday. Don't miss it."
Katsuki nodded once more. "Yeah sure."
"Cool!" she giggled, making the male's heart flutter a bit.
The male opened the door to his house and let the girl get in first. (Y/n) took off her shoes and headed towards the kitchen.
"Katsuki!! I hope you got the right things or I'm going to-(Y/n)!" Mitsuki gushed upon seeing the girl place the bag on the counter, followed by Katsuki.
(Y/n) turned to the woman with a smile. "Hi, Mrs. Bakugou. Nice to see you again."
Mitsuki placed a hand on her shoulder. "Oh dear, for you, it's just Mitsuki."
"Okay," (Y/n) nodded politely.
"It's really nice to see you come by again. I hope my idiot son is treating you well," Mitsuki began as she unpacked the items from the bags with (Y/n) helping. "He passed the file on to you, right?"
"He's being himself, I guess. And yeah, he did," (Y/n) giggled, briefly looking over her shoulder at a scowling Katsuki.
"Wow, and he got all the items on the list right! This couldn't be all him! Did you help him out?" Mitsuki asked the girl as she looked at the packet of tampons.
(Y/n) folded her arms on the counter and nodded. "Yeah, if that's okay with you."
The blonde-haired woman beamed at her. "Of course it is. He's a shopping disaster after all."
"That's the exact same thing I told him earlier," (Y/n) laughed with Mitsuki joining in.
Katsuki clicked his tongue and stomped off out of the kitchen. The two females remained unaware of Katsuki's exit as they continued chatting while putting away the items.
For some reason, (Y/n) felt very comfortable and at ease while talking to Mitsuki, even though she hadn't known her for long. And that was the first time she actually had fun unpacking, considering other times she always found it a chore.
"So are you staying over for dinner?" Mitsuki asked her with hope laced in her voice when they finished packing.
"Oh sorry. Not today though," (Y/n) declined as she took her own shopping bag from the counter.
"Oh okay," Mitsuki's smile faltered in disappointment but it returned once more. "Another time then?"
"Yeah sure," (Y/n) nodded, returning her smile.
"Well, I'll be waiting. I really love having you around. Maybe one day, it'll be permanent!"
What. "Uh, of course. Sure," (Y/n) chuckled in confusion, not knowing what to respond to that.
"That's good," Mitsuki sighed before her face twisted up in anger as she turned her face towards the kitchen's entrance. "Katsuki!! Come down here and escort (Y/n) home!!!"
"Will you stop shouting, you stupid old lady?!!!" Katsuki yelled back from the top floor.
"If you don't want me to shout then bring your ass down here!!!"
"Fine!! I'm fucking coming!!!"
I wonder how a silent day in this house sounds like. (Y/n) pursed her lips as she stared at Mitsuki with an unreadable expression on. Their method of conversing never ceased to amaze her.
Katsuki's heavy footfall reverberated from the stairs, accompanied by an angry ash-blond who appeared in the kitchen while glaring at his mother. (Y/n) noted that he had opted to change the navy blue shirt he had worn earlier into a white singlet sans jacket. The girl's eyes involuntarily swept over his ripped arms and singlet that clung attractively onto his muscled physique.
(Y/n) cleared her voice, looking away from his form as she scolded herself for her shameless ogling.
Well, it's not like it's my fault. He's the one putting it out there and my eyes don't have curtains so...
"Let's go," Katsuki muttered in irritation and grabbed her arm to pull her to the door.
"Bye Mrs-I mean, bye Mitsuki!" the girl waved at the woman who returned the gesture, a warm smile on her face as she stared at the two retreating students.
After she heard the door closing behind them, Mitsuki let out a sigh and went back to her chores.
"When is that son of mine ever going to tell her? Of all the things he's scared of..." she muttered under her breath, a small smile playing on her lips.
***
"You can come in, you know," (Y/n) chuckled, opening the door wider for Katsuki to enter.
"I know that dumbass!!" the male hissed at her while hesitantly entering the house and kicked off his shoes.
"Then why were you hesitating?" she asked him smugly as she walked into the kitchen.
Katsuki remained silent, closing the door behind him as he followed her into the kitchen.
(Y/n) took out the milk carton from the bag and placed it in the fridge. She looked back at Katsuki who was leaning on the door frame with his hands in his pockets as he stared at her.
She rose a brow. "What?"
"Nothing," he mumbled, his crimson-colored eyes darting from her to the wall.
The girl hummed in response as she took out some leftover pizza from the fridge. She closed the fridge door with her hip before placing the box on the counter.
"Want some?" she asked the male, opening the box to look at the remaining six pieces. Lucky for her, Nanami wasn't a fan of pizza plus it was a buy one get one free offer the previous day, meaning more for the food-loving (Y/n).
"Sure," the male shrugged as he walked over to her.
(Y/n) nodded and took a plate from the dish rack and placed four pieces on it. She put the plate inside the microwave to warm it.
Katsuki leaned his elbows on the counter as he watched her. (Y/n) briefly glanced at him, doing a double take when she noticed that he was staring at her again.
"Seriously what?" she chuckled in amusement. "Do I look weird or something?"
"No. You look...fine," he muttered, a blush of embarrassment coloring his cheeks at being caught yet again.
(Y/n) shook her head and went back to looking at the pizza. Silence shrouded the room again, the only sound coming from the microwave.
Though the silence, (Y/n) felt comfortable. This was mostly constituted with the fact that she had spent a whole week alone with Katsuki, all forms of awkwardness long gone between them. In fact, she found herself thoroughly enjoying his presence, otherwise, she would've sent his ass home the minute she got home.
Besides, four days had passed since they got back to Musutafu and with school and all, they hadn't spent a lot of time together as they were used to. And weirdly enough, (Y/n) somehow found herself 'missing' him, in some sort of way.
Also referred to as disadvantages of getting used to someone's constant presence.
The microwave beeped, indicating the end and (Y/n) opened the microwave door.
She took out the plate, the hot surface of the utensil not doing any damage to her fingers and placed it on the counter.
"It's done. Careful, it's hot though," she smiled at him, fanning the steam coming out of the hot pizza.
Katsuki scoffed and rolled his eyes at her. "As if I get affected by that stuff."
(Y/n) chuckled silently and took one slice, instantly taking a bite out of it.
"And yet you can't stand spices," Katsuki commented, taking a bite out of his.
"There's a difference, dumbass," she shot back, using his usual insult back at him.
Katsuki growled lowly earning a snort from (Y/n). The girl looked back at her pizza and began picking at the toppings. Katsuki's eyes remained on her, a small smirk creeping up his lips.
His eyes widened for a moment, his face contorting in contemplation before letting out a sigh. With determination etched on his face, he placed his slice back on the plate and walked over to her.
(Y/n) placed the pizza back down in puzzlement as she stared at the male.
"What are you-?"
Katsuki cut her off by grabbing her arms and pushing her back against the counter, shocking the girl.
"I need to tell you something," he said, his deep-set eyes boring holes into the girl's surprised own.
"Uh...uh okay?" she sputtered, still not grasping why he had to grab her in the first place.
"Look, it's very important so...you better listen to me," he added, shaking her a bit to emphasize his point.
(Y/n)'s eyes widened a bit before realization hit her, a smile etching on her lips.
"Oh, no need. I already know," she sighed.
"Wha-You-you do?" the male stammered in shock, his heart skipping a beat at her words that caught him completely off-guard.
"Of course," (Y/n) shrugged.
Katsuki's hands slowly loosened their hold as they fell back to his sides. He scratched the back of his neck, a blush on his cheeks of both being flustered and relieved. Relieved that he actually didn't have to tell her.
"How did you know? And why didn't you say anything?"
(Y/n) chuckled. "At first it was a suspicion but then over time, I kinda confirmed it. But I couldn't just bring it up out of the blue since I took it as it being a sensitive subject for you."
Katsuki nodded, his blush deepening and he shoved his hands in his pockets as he looked anywhere else but the girl. "So uh...what did you think about it?"
"Beautiful."
Katsuki heart jumped at her words as he looked back at the girl. His mind reeled in disbelief and overwhelming surprise. He couldn't believe that she actually said that.
"Really?"
"Yeah. It's not every day you meet a guy who likes other guys."
Katsuki knitted his eyebrows and looked back at her. "What?"
"Yeah, it's adorable really," the girl added, smiling widely at him.
Katsuki's expression immediately morphed into one of anger, all happiness erased as he harshly grabbed onto her arms and shook her.
"Why the fuck would you think that, huh?!!"
"Isn't it true?! I mean, I've never seen you breathe in any girl's direction so..." the girl quickly explained herself, taken by surprise by his reaction.
"What?! You can't just assume something like that from observation, you idiot!! I'm fucking straight!! Or what?! Want me to prove it?!
"That's a no from me," the girl tittered sheepishly as she pried his hands off her arms.
Though she didn't look like it, inside, for some weird reason, she couldn't help but feel kinda relieved that he was straight. Though, she wouldn't have had any problem with it if her assumptions were right.
Katsuki ran his hand over his face in frustration, his anger slowly simmering down.
"Okay, so sorry about that. But now that's out of my system, what is it you wanted to tell me again?" (Y/n) asked, rubbing the back of her neck in embarrassment.
The nervousness the ash-blond felt before came back tenfold as he looked back at the waiting girl.
He couldn't back down now. He had evaded telling her for days now and it was either now or never. Besides, he was never afraid of a challenge so, why was he afraid of something as simple as telling her how he feels?
Because he was afraid of rejection, that's why.
Katsuki groaned in defeat and stared hard at her.
Tell her.
"I'm just going say it just once, okay?"
(Y/n) nodded, his delay increasing her curiosity.
Tell her. "I..." the male began, trying to choke out the words from his throat. "I really..."
"Yes?" the girl encouraged, noticing the difficulty he had in saying it.
What could be so hard that even the uncensored Katsuki has difficulty in saying?
"I fucking li..." the male choked out, balling his hands into fists as he felt like he was sweating buckets. Fucking tell her!
(Y/n) narrowed her eyes at him, trying to figure out beforehand what he was saying.
"I fucking lied when I said I watch that shitty show of yours that time!!!" he proclaimed, mentally smacking himself for not having the guts to tell her the truth.
The girl frowned, falling fully for his bullshit. "Huh? You lied? Why?"
Katsuki burned his glare onto the ground, feeling both relieved and bad that she wasn't able to catch onto his real confession. "Because you said that you wanted someone to talk about it with," he sighed in defeat. "I didn't want you to feel alone."
(Y/n)'s heart warmed at his words and she placed a hand on her chest. She smiled. "Aww Katsuki, that's so sweet of you. You didn't have to do that, you know."
"Well, I just did," he muttered, still keeping his eyes on the ground in self-loathing.
(Y/n) patted his shoulder and tilted her head. "You're such a nice friend."
"...Yeah, sure," he muttered, his heart squeezing in pain at the reminder of his eternal damnation to the friend zone.
(Y/n) smiled at him and turned around to pick up her pizza, unaware of Katsuki's hurt expression which he allowed to show behind her turned back. His hands clenched into fists and he gritted his teeth as he glared at the ground. What the fuck was he thinking?! That he'd confess and everything would go his way?! Of course, she still saw him as a friend and nothing more. He was so fucking stupid. As if she'd ever look his way.
He lifted his head up and stared at the back of her head with a pained expression.
Friend? Is that all you'll ever see me as? Just a fucking friend?
