Chappy 14
"Good work," Mr. Aizawa droned, his voice as monotonous as ever. "So there will be no school tomorrow or the day after. I'm sure the pro heroes who watched the sports festival will want to recruit you, but we'll consolidate everything and announce it when you get back. So rest well, and look forward to that."
"Yes, sir!"
Mr. Aizawa dismissed the students and exited the class, cheerful voices and murmurs erupting the minute he closed the door.
(Y/n) turned to look at Katsuki, whose whole body was trembling from rage before looking at the medal that was still clutched between his gritted teeth. The girl snorted and rested her palm on her cheek. It was probably a bad idea to provoke him while in that state but she couldn't help herself from opening her big mouth.
"Wow," she smirked. "Aren't you a sight for sore eyes..."
It didn't take long for her comment to tip him over the edge as the boy roughly yanked the medal from his mouth and slammed it hard on his desk. Unfazed by the fact that her life might be in danger at the moment, (Y/n) covered her mouth to stifle a loud laugh.
Katsuki turned to glare at her, eyes narrowed into slits. "You're having fun, huh?!!"
The girl simply shrugged and stuck her tongue out at him. She actually was having fun poking fun at him. He did force her to forfeit the fight and she was still, kinda, maybe, somehow, bitter about that.
Her relationship with him was mostly, if one could give a rough definition, love-hate, with (Y/n) being the one to give the "love" in form of teasing to get off from his angry but amusing reactions while he was the one giving the "hate" in form of insults and handling her roughly. In all honesty, the two never actually had a real conversation even considering the fact that they sat right next to each other. But nonetheless, (Y/n) openly regarded him as her friend like she did with the rest of her classmates. In her mind, the girl considered the title better than 'acquaintance' or 'fellow student'. So, despite the fact that he was always rude to her, she had to condition herself to get used to his brash personality and with time, it stopped bothering her altogether. Besides, she had already accepted that he wasn't good with words, his actions conveying most of what he felt, which was either a good thing or bad depending on the situation. He was a complex character yet simple at the same time, something which somehow fascinated (Y/n).
That, and the fact that she was the only who he, from time to time, addressed by their real name, something which made her wonder why but didn't want to ask. Honestly, she still wasn't very fond of the nickname 'lava bitch'.
Fed up with everything in general, as usual, Katsuki clicked his tongue and abruptly stood up, causing his chair to scrape loudly on the floor. (Y/n) winced at the ear-grating sound.
The ash-blond grabbed his bag from the ground and angrily tugged the strap over his shoulder as he stormed towards the door. (Y/n) followed him with her eyes, an amused smile tugging at her lips. As his hand went to reach for the jamb, he let out a loud groan and he swiveled around to stomp back to his desk. He swiped the medal from the top of his desk, shoved in his pocket and stormed back to the door, exiting and closing it with a harsh bang.
(Y/n) sighed while shaking her head, her eyes still locked on the closed door. She then leaned to the side to grab her bag from the ground, rose up from her seat and walked to the back of the class where Shouto sat.
"Shouto, come on, let's go," she dramatically slumped against Shouto's form, causing the side of his head to get mushed against her bosom while she laid her head on top of his head. "I'm dying to sleep for these two days straight."
"You really are lazy."
(Y/n) straightened up to glare at the owner of the voice. She made a mocking face before returning to lie her head back on Shouto's, who was all the while unbothered and staring at the front of the class with his usual blank expression.
"No need to act so childish, (Y/n)," she overhead the dark-haired female chuckle, making her pout.
"Nye nye nye nye," (Y/n) horribly mimicked her words without looking at her, earning another amused chuckle.
"Shall we go?"
(Y/n) lifted her head up to look at the boy who had spoken. He turned to look at her and she smiled.
"Yeah," the girl nodded before stepping back to give him space to stand. While he was taking his bag, she turned to Yaoyorozu to wave her goodbye. The girl returned it, along with a 'take care'.
As they left the class, they also bade the other students goodbye and left for home.

(Y/n) sighed lethargically as she opened the front door to her home.
"I'm home!" she announced as she closed the door behind her and kicked off her shoes. She was completely spent and all she wanted to do was take a nice shower and at least relax her muscles before she could do anything else.
"(Y/n)!" a body flung itself on the girl, its arms winding around the startled girl's neck in a death hug. "I'm so proud of you!! Oh, I can't believe my baby girl won at the festival!"
The female sputtered and she began trying to rip off her guardian's arms from around her neck as she struggled to breathe.
"Aunt! You're...I can't- I can't...breathe!" she choked out, her face growing purple at the lack of oxygen.
"Oh! I'm sorry!" her aunt abruptly released the choking girl, who dramatically drew in a loud, sharp inhale while clutching her chest.
"It's-it's cool," the girl coughed out while and began massaging her sore neck. She sent a weary look at her excited aunt. She wasn't even worried about the fact that she almost killed the one person who agreed to live with her...
"So," Nanami, her aunt, excitedly clasped her hands together in front of her as she beamed. "For the celebration, I cooked your favorite! (Fave food)!"
"Really?" (Y/n) forced a smile and slid her bag off her shoulder to hold it in her hand. "That's awesome. Thanks."
"You're welcome," Nanami patted the girl's hair before turning to head to the kitchen, (Y/n) immediately following her lead. "I know I couldn't be able to wave at you from the audience nor were you able to see me from where you are, but I can assure you, I watched every last bit of your performance. Especially your fight with that boy," she turned to the girl who was leaning her elbows on the counter. "The one with the explosions? Tied up and everything?"
(Y/n) frowned at the memory of her fight and brushed off come biscuit crumbs from the counter. "Oh, you mean Katsuki."
"Yes, him," Nanami replied offhandedly and she opened one of the pot's lids to check on her food. The delicious aroma of (fave food) wafted into the air and (Y/n)'s stomach began to grumble when it hit her nose. She placed a hand on her tummy and pursed her lips, she hadn't even realized that she was that hungry. Jeez, she better get fed soon.
"But first," she turned to her aunt who was placing the lid back in place. "I want you to take a shower so you can eat."
(Y/n) wilted. Suddenly, the idea of taking a shower seemed like a necessity she could gladly live without.
Not about to take no for an answer from her, Nanami shot her a stern look, and her shoulders sagged in defeat. She threw her head back to groan. "Fine. I'll go take a shower."
"Good girl."
Rolling her eyes, she turned and trudged back to the hallway to go up to her room.
"And when you're done," came Nanami's voice from the kitchen. "We'll watch the game again! I got in video! We can always repeat it all night!"
(Y/n) sighed as she stared down at the steps she was climbing. "Yeah, sure!"
As soon as she was in her room, (Y/n) closed the door behind her and leaned back against the door in exhaustion. Her body was aching all over and the longer she continued to stare lifelessly at her floor, the more inviting it started to look. Deciding against sleeping on the floor, she took in a sharp breath and pushed herself off the door, walking towards her bed. She threw her bag on the bed and followed shortly after, face down and arms spread on either side. She softly sighed in bliss at the comfortable and pillowy feeling as she could feel sleep start to tug at her. She turned her head to the side and closed her eyes, releasing a soft exhale as she allowed her body to relax.
Suddenly, her obnoxious ringtone went off, startling her. Grabbing her bag in irritation, she scowled at the stupid ringtone. It was a Phineas and Ferb song she had chosen a long while back when she got the phone. At that time, she was fond of the song but now it just made her want to kill herself whenever it went off.
She would've just easily changed it to something else, which is if her stupid excuse of a phone allowed her to fucking change it in the first place. The settings were bugged, and whenever she attempted to change it, it'd always revert back to the original one, meaning that she was stuck regretting her life choices until she got another phone.
After digging through her sports uniform and a multitude of books, she finally found the phone, thankfully still ringing.
She looked at the caller ID and her scowl instantly transformed into a grin.
Prince ❤
She quickly picked the call and placed the phone against her ear.
"Hey handsome," she cheerfully greeted as she laid back on her bed.
"Hi, beautiful. You okay?"
"Yeah," she shrugged and raised her legs up in the air. She stared at her socked feet and wiggled her toes. "Just lying on my bed. You?"
"I'm okay. On my bed too."
(Y/n)'s eyebrows furrowed at the slight change in his voice. It was subtle but she had learned to pick up on Shouto's subtlety.
"Shouto?" she inquired, her tone serious and worried. "You okay?"
"I..." he hesitated for a bit. "I want to go see Mom."
His confession made the girl abruptly drop her legs down and sit up.
"Really? When?" She knew that Shouto somehow felt that his presence would pressure his mom and that's why he never went to see her but his sudden resolve surprised her, making her happy even.
"Tomorrow. First thing in the morning."
(Y/n) smiled softly at his decision to finally move on from the past. "Want me to come with you?"
Shoto sighed. (Y/n) imagined him running a hand through his hair. "No. I need to do this alone...but thanks."
"Sure. Anytime...but if you need anything, you can just call, 'kay?" the (h/c)-haired female offered as her fingers mindlessly played with the hem of her skirt.
"I will," he said, (Y/n) almost hearing his smile from his words. "Rest well."
"You too. Goodnight," the girl then brought the phone's speaker to her mouth. "Love you!!" she said in a sing-song voice, all the while grinning like an idiot.
"Goodnight. I love you too."
With those final words, Shouto hanged up. (Y/n) stared at her phone for a while before tossing it back on her bed. She chuckled silently. She was happy that finally Shouto could make sure of his feelings and make amends with his past. Ever since they met all those years ago, she always had a difficult time helping him get around the state of his family and that of his father. And it wasn't like he made it any easier for her. Back then, he was always so closed off, he still was but at least he had let (Y/n) in after her persistence nosing around his affairs and offering a 'shoulder to lean on' when Shouto didn't want it.
But that was the difference. Just because he didn't want it, didn't mean that he didn't need it. (Y/n) was just glad to have finally been able to break down his walls and made him feel less alone than he originally was. She related to him somehow, in her own unique way, and that's what brought them closer. To the point, they started dating.
And not just because Shouto was the only worthy guy friend (Y/n) had back in middle school and vice versa. No, it wasn't that.
Both way, it was progress for him and (Y/n) was proud.
And proud as she was, the girl got onto her feet and proceeded to strip in preparation to take a shower.
***
(Y/n) stood in front of her closet, showered and dressed in a towel as she took out a pair of pajamas. She tossed them on her bed and was just about to drop the towel when the regret of regrets went off.
'Bow chicka bow wow! That's what my baby says! Mow mow mow and my heart start pumping! Chika chika chu wop! Never gonna stop! Gitchi gitchi goo means that I Love You'
(Y/n) narrowed her eyes at the device on her bed and rolled her tongue over her top teeth. One day, she was going to 'accidentally' destroy it then say that it slipped into the toilet bowl because how else would lava slip into the system??
The girl tightened the towel around her body and reached out for her phone.
The words 'Unknown' flashed on the screen, along with a number she didn't recognize.
She contemplated picking it up for a moment but then thought that it could probably be a classmate calling her, so she swiped the accept button and placed it against her ear.
"Uh...hello?"
"Took you long enough," an annoyed gruff voice sounded from the other side.
Recognition dawned on her face when she put a face to the familiar voice. "Wait...Katsuki?"
"What'd you think?!"
"How did you get my number?" (Y/n) inquired as she sat on her bed, her question not intending to be offensive but out of curiosity.
"That's the only fucking thing you're thinking about?!!" Katsuki yelled, making the girl pull the phone away from her ear to prevent ear damage.
She chuckled and placed it back once he was done talking. "I see you're still mad about your results."
"Huh?! Who's mad?! I'm not fucking mad?! Do I sound mad to you?!!"
(Y/n) shook her head, her body quaking with laughter. "No of course not."
"Are you being sarcastic with me, you little shit?!"
"Whaaat? Pfffft no!" (Y/n) snorted, her hand flying to her mouth to muffle her uncontrollable laughs.
"Shut up! Whatever. I didn't call you for that."
The sudden calm in his voice made (Y/n) cease laughing all together and she rose an eyebrow. "Oh yeah, why is that?"
"Look...about before...at the fucking-at that stupid fight at the festival. Whatever you did with your hands to stop me, I want to see it again," he demanded.
(Y/n) made a face. "You want to see it? Aren't you what, angry or something that your Quirk is basically impossible against mine?"
"Of course I'm fucking angry, dammit!! That's why I want to fucking know why your stupid Quirk can stop mine!!" Katsuki barked at her, (Y/n) wincing at the loud voice.
"Okay, okay, calm down then. Jeez," (Y/n) briefly placed a hand on her forehead. Did he honestly have to shout every single time? "What is it you really want to see?"
"...Everything."
(Y/n) frowned and scratched the back of her neck. "Uh...okay? Not the most desirable choice of words but sure. So when do you want to-"
"Tomorrow, afternoon. School field."
(Y/n)'s forehead creased. That was...a rather eager response..."Wow, okay. Not giving me any time to rest, huh?"
"Huh? You have the whole night and half of tomorrow to rest, you idiot!"
The girl groaned while rolling her eyes. "Fine, fine! Tomorrow, afternoon, school field. Got it."
"Don't be late or else I'll beat you up!" Katsuki threatened, earning another eye roll from the girl which he couldn't see.
"Did you just roll your fucking eyes at me?!"
(Y/n) theatrically gasped and placed her hand on her chest. "What?! Me?! I'd never!"
"Yeah, you better not."
The corner of her lips quirked up. "Okay."
"...Your ass better be there tomorrow," Katsuki added after a moment of silence, making (Y/n) tilt her head in puzzlement. He had said it in such a low voice that she had almost missed it. Luckily she didn't.
"I'll be there," she promised and the line went silent once more. The only thing she could hear from the other side is his breathing, an indication he was still there.
Why wasn't he hanging up though?
"Goodnight Katsuki," (Y/n) said, choosing to end the awkward silence by herself.
"...Yeah, whatever."
He immediately hung up. The girl pulled the phone away from her ear and stared at the unsaved number. She had opted to simply save his number as his real name but something didn't feel right about it. So she racked her mind for a nickname as her thumbs wiggled over the 'Save contact' button.
Her eyes lit up when a particular name crossed her mind and she wasted no time in typing it in. She smiled as she saved the contact. She didn't know why or where she came up with the name but to her, it seemed perfect for his explosive personality. Something about it felt right. It suited him.
Fireworks
Contact saved.
