Summary: What if Shiina never met the Phantom Thieves when she stumbled upon her own Palace? What if it was someone else?
Characters: Shiina, Yandere!Akechi, and a surprise character at the end!
Pairings: Shiina x Yandere!Akechi
Warnings: Yandereness...
Other(s): This idea was given to me by Vincenzo Santangelo. I didn't exactly follow through what they completely wanted, but I hope they don't mind...
There's also a very, very, very small, hard-to-catch hint about Touya's past (for my story, of course)
Akechi was supposed to kill Kiberi Shiina as a punishment towards the Phantom Thieves. He knew of her close relationship with one of them—that damned loudmouth Sakamoto Ryuji—and decided that instilling a mental shutdown in her was the perfect way to destroy the Phantom Thieves bit by bit.
They were getting awfully annoying lately. He thought killing the Okumura heiress' father would be enough to deter them for a while, but that just only made them even more determined to get to the bottom of things. He wondered if killing each of their loved ones would help them finally get the message.
It pained him to kill someone so young and lovely, but it was just her luck that she had to befriend a Phantom Thief.
Her Palace was a challenge to go through, and just as he walked through the door to the garden, he heard someone shout.
"Don't call me that! None of this is real! My dad doesn't love me, Shouto's not dead, and mom's supposed to be at the hospital because she's fucking traumatized by all the shit she's been through!"
He paused when he heard that voice for several reasons.
The voice wasn't distorted. Which meant that it wasn't a Shadow. It was a human, like him. But what the hell was a human doing in a Palace?
Wait, his eyes widened as he recalled her words. Kiberi's in here?!
One second later the sound of glass shattering ripped through the air and a red haired figure came sprinting towards the center of the garden. He quickly ducked behind an apple tree before he could be spotted and peeked around.
His suspicions were confirmed. It was Kiberi Shiina. And she had stumbled straight into her own Shadow.
He watched the scene, curious as to how this would go on. Never once has there been a time where the original entered their own Palace. Would the Shadow kill her?
"W-what the hell...?" He heard her shaky voice whisper. "Are you me? And what the hell are you wearing?!"
Funnily enough, she sounded more mortified about her Shadow's sense of fashion rather than scared about her current situation.
"I'm you," came the distorted reply. "Or well, to be more specific, I'm your Shadow."
"What are you talking about?!"
"Like I said, silly, I'm you! I'm your truest and most darkest self!" Shadow Shiina said grandly.
"...Darkest?" Shiina said unsurely, eyeing the bright outfit up and down.
"Yep!" Shadow Shiina chirped, skipping over to the original. She began tugging on the real Shiina's arm to drag her over to the gazebo. "I'm so glad you're here with me! Daddy will be so happy that we're finally together!"
Akechi blinked in surprise. So the Shadow wasn't going to attack her? Weird. He always thought Shadows were violent beings. Perhaps they mellowed out once they met their original self?
Shiina wrenched her arm away. "That thing back there is not our dad! They're not our family!"
The Shadow's face darkened. "Don't be stupid, of course they're our family." She said in a sickly sweet tone that hid a growing malevolence.
Shiina shook her head furiously and inched back. "No they're not! My real family is back in the real world! This is just... this is just some sick fantasy I created because I wanted to disillusion myself from what my family really is: a broken, fucked up mess!"
"SHUT UP, THAT'S NOT TRUE!" The Shadow shrieked. "OUR FAMILY IS PERFECT!"
By that time, four more figures were drawing close and Akechi ducked down lower as a precaution. Judging by the hundreds of photographs he had seen, they were definitely the rest of her family.
Shiina was too angry to notice them.
"IT'S RUINED!" She roared back. "IT'S RUINED BECAUSE OF THAT ABUSIVE FUCK WE CALL A 'FATHER'! I CHOSE HIM OVER MY OWN FAMILY, MY OWN BROTHER..." Her voice died at the mention of Shouto, who never even existed in this twisted world. She swallowed thickly before continuing, "I blamed everything on my twin brother when he did nothing wrong...! My dad—no, Endeavor, is the one to blame and so am I for turning a blind eye to his faults!"
A heavy silence fell between them as the Shadow scrutinized her and her words carefully.
"...Do you really mean those words?" The fake asked.
"Yes," Shiina hissed venomously. "I do."
Finally, the Shadow smiled. "Good. You've accepted the truth and became anew."
The furious expression faded away from her face and was replaced by confusion. "What are you—" Before she could finish her sentence, the Shadow faded away in a golden light. "Hey, where the hell are you go—Argh!"
Her face contorted into pain and she dropped to her knees, clutching her head and screaming in agony.
Akechi watched her writhe from the torture, his mind numbed by what he had just learned.
Endeavor was abusive? The Number Two Hero of Japan abused his children? He automatically thought of Todoroki Rei, remembering that she had been sent to a mental institution around a decade ago. He never put much thought about it, but could it have been because of him?
A monster of a father... Too powerful to be taken down, leaving his helpless family forced to keep their silence.
It hit too close to home.
Minutes passed and he finally made his decision. He peeked around the trunk of the tree and watched as Shiina defeated the Shadows of her family one by one.
Shiina needed to be saved.
Not killed.
Nobody could save him from his fate—nobody even bothered—and look at how much of a disturbed mess he turned out to be! He couldn't let Shiina fall down the same spiraling hole like he did, no, he needed to save her.
He left his hiding spot to approach them.
"It's over..." Shiina panted, glaring viciously at the creature her sick excuse of a father turned into while her bloody Persona hovered at her side. "You're done for—!" Lunging with her claws pulled back, she swiped mercilessly at the black monster's face, destroying it instantly as it let out a short-lived scream of pain.
Shiina stood there at the center of the garden, breathing heavily as she wiped all the Shadow blood off her skintight suit. Her knees suddenly buckled underneath her and she felt herself grow a tad lightheaded.
Before she could hit the ground, an arm shot out and hoisted her back up, pressing her against a firm body.
"W-who are you...?!" She gawked at him, clearly not expecting another person to appear. She yanked herself free from his grip and staggered back to create a safe distance between them. She eyed him distrustfully, but she wasn't so tense since his eyes weren't yellow and he didn't speak in a creepy distorted voice.
"My name is... Goro," he said after some thought. He would've used his last name, but it was too well-known now and he didn't have the time to deal with her questions about why a celebrity was in there with her. "You can trust me."
"Uh huh..." She said slowly, not entirely convinced.
"I'm not a Shadow. Look, no yellow eyes or distorted voice." He motioned to himself. "I'm human like you."
"How did you get in here?" She questioned.
"Through a phone app," he replied.
"...The one with a creepy eye?" She asked.
He nodded, smiling reassuringly at her. "The very one. Do you trust me now?"
"Can you get me out of here?" She asked rather than answering the question.
He jutted his chin over towards the brightly gleaming diamond necklace. "You can get out of here through that. Though I must warn you, the second one of us grabs it, this place will collapse so we'll have to make a run for it."
She looked a bit worried at the mention of running, which was understandable since everything seemed to take a lot out of her. Before he could offer his assistance, she steeled herself and nodded in determination. He found that he rather liked that blazing glint in her eyes.
"Okay," she said with a final tone. "I'm ready. You?"
He rose a playful brow at her. "Of course I am. Shall we?"
She was already heading towards the gazebo where the diamond necklace laid on a white table. "You're gonna have to lead the way because I don't know my way around this hellhole."
"I've got us covered," he smiled.
She nodded seriously and gave the diamond necklace one last wary look before grabbing it. Immediately the whole Palace began to quake powerfully. Akechi reached out and took a hold of her hand.
"Come on!" He shouted through the chaos and began leading the way out.
They dodged passed falling picture frames and crumbling walls, and it was a miracle Akechi wasn't lost since her Palace was like a goddamn dollhouse labyrinth.
"Once we get back to reality, we'll be transferred back to separate places," he told her as the dodged passed a Shadow. "Meet me outside! I'd like to speak to you more!"
"Fine," she shouted back. "Just make sure we get out of this alive!"
"Oh we will!" He replied, grinning when he saw the familiar front doors. He pushed through them and was greeted by the clear blue skies and sunlight. Quickly, he whipped his phone out.
Shiina looked at him incredulously. "Dude, now's not the time for a selfie!"
He chuckled at her, "We got here through a phone app, remember? It's only logical that we'd leave through the same way."
And with that, he pressed the button to make them return and their world began melting. He squeezed Shiina's hand before the two of them completely disappeared.
A second later, he found himself standing outside of the Todoroki estate.
He leaned against the gate and dropped to his bottom, trying to regain his breath and sanity. He placed a hand over his rapidly beating heart—the reason for it's sudden rise unknown.
He had just saved Kiberi Shiina rather than killed her. It was a good thing this wasn't a mission sent to him by Shido else he'd be in for an earful.
His heart throbbed in a painful manner as he recalled her words about her scum of a father—Endeavor. He wondered if he was in the house right now. He wondered if he was hurting her.
He actually hoped he wasn't.
Remembering what she promised him, he stood back up and dusted his pants. He waited outside the gate for her for several more minutes when he began to grow a bit worried. Did she not make it out with him? Was her father... withholding her?
Ten minutes passed and she still wasn't out yet. Did she forget to meet with him outside? He felt irate at the possibility but then a thought occurred to him... She must be going through a lot of emotional turmoil now after venturing through that awful place. So of course her promise to him must have slipped through her mind. He could forgive her for that, it was just an honest mistake—!
The gate opened and a shaky figure walked out.
"Ah, Kiberi-sa—" Akechi's beaming face dropped when he saw her red and teary eyes and the amount of water marks on her face.
Endeavor made her cry. He realized. That shit-stain, that degenerate, that piece of fucking filth—
The dark expression must have been noticeable since she explained, "O-oh, sorry about this," she mumbled, embarrassed, as she hastily wiped up her face. "Sorry, uh, my brother saw me when I came back and I just burst to tears on him..."
"Oh," he breathed out in relief, his expression bright once more.
"Yeah, so—" She suddenly froze, a flicker of recognition in her eyes as she pointed at him. "H-h-hold on! You're Akechi Goro! The famous ace detective?! What the fuck?!"
He chuckled at her adorably lost expression and nodded in confirmation. "The very one. It's nice to meet you, Kiberi-san." He reached out for a handshake.
Shiina stared blankly at it as if she had never been offered one before (which was probably true) before reaching out to shake his hand. He relished at the daintiness of her hand and how soft the skin was. She truly was a perfect specimen.
She was staring at him oddly as he had been shaking her hand for five seconds too long. Flustered from the mistake, he quickly retracted away and cleared his throat.
"What are you doing here, Akechi-san?" She asked curiously.
"I..." He trailed off, a light bulb lighting over his head. "I came to save you."
She blinked cluelessly. "Save me? Wait, you mean you knew about the Calling Card?!"
He tried not to look so surprised. Calling card? She received one from the Phantom Thieves?
Her own best friend was willing to target her? He thought darkly. Shiina was surrounded by the worst sorts of people. He needed to get her away from them before they harmed her. He couldn't let anyone touch her.
The metaphorical light bulb over his head burned brighter as another brilliant idea came to mind.
"Yes," he lied straight through his teeth. "I overheard a conversation of theirs and I came here as quickly as I could to keep them from hurting you. I'm glad I came here in time, though you didn't need much of my help. You handled most of it wonderfully."
She seemed to preen at the compliment and he absolutely adored her expression.
The adorable expression suddenly disappeared. "Wait, do you know who the Phantom Thieves are?"
"Of course," he replied smoothly. "I caught them red-handed after all. However I need more proof to incriminate them as the pictures I took of them transporting to and from the Metaverse aren't enough."
Her eyes bugged out. "You know who they are?! Who are they?! Why would they target me?!"
He plastered on an unsure expression. "Are you sure, Kiberi-san...? The truth... may shock you. It most likely will hurt you too and you've already been through a lot—"
"—No, I want to know," she cut in. "I want to know who targeted me."
He sighed, "As you wish..." In a faux regretful manner, he took out his phone and showed her the pictures. Her face fell and he felt satisfied by the despairing look on her face, though it also hurt him to see her look so betrayed.
"R-Ryuji...?" She whispered, swiping through the pictures with a shaky hand. "No, no, why would he...?"
"He didn't want to at first," he told her gently, taking the phone from her as she stared numbly at the ground. "He protested a lot against targeting you, but the other Thieves managed to convince him. The police were already growing suspicious of them, but they needed something to throw them off. And that was you, or, your death more like. People are well aware of the close relationship between you and Sakamoto-kun, so killing you would make the police less suspicious since they'd never suspect him to kill his own childhood friend."
Lies. It was all lies. He didn't know the reason why Sakamoto would ever target his own best friend, but it made his blood boil nonetheless. There was no way he could allow him near Shiina now that he knew about that goddamn calling card.
Didn't those stupid Thieves know how terrified she'd be? The last person to get a calling card was Okumura and look where he ended up! Well, it was actually his fault the man was dead, but that wasn't the point. Shiina must have scared out of her wits... The poor girl...
His thoughts were cut off by a small sob and he snapped his head towards Shiina and felt his heart ache. She was crying, hunching over herself as she fell to her knees before him. A pained scream fell through her lips as her crystal clear tears fell to the grass.
"N-not Ryuji...!" She seemed to be saying. "It can't—He wouldn't—!" She sobbed repeatedly, shaking her head furiously in denial.
Heart throbbing painfully, he knelt in front of her and quickly brought her into his arms. She cried desperately into his blazer and he could feel the wetness of her tears, but he could hardly care. Everything was hitting her hard. He almost regretted feeding her all these lies so soon after what happened in her Palace, but it had to be done.
He couldn't let someone like Sakamoto Ryuji have her.
"Ryuji wouldn't, he wouldn't, he wouldn't...!" She sobbed, still shaking her head.
"I'm sorry," he whispered falsely, hugging her tighter. "But I gave you the proof... Now you know..."
"R-Ryuji...!" She sobbed mournfully. "No, why?! Why would he—?! No, no, no!"
"I'm sorry," he whispered again, feeling accomplished. She would never trust Ryuji again after this. He'd make sure of it.
His hand reached out to caress her hair but he was reminded of his irritating gloves. Discreetly he slipped them off and ran his fingers through her soft locks. He could tell that a part of her didn't want to believe it, but he had already planted the seed of doubt in her pretty little head. She'd be all his soon enough.
Ryuji didn't deserve her.
Endeavor didn't deserve her.
Nobody deserved her.
Hell... not even he deserved her...
But she was his now.

More than half a year passed and Akechi felt like he was living the dream.
He had killed the Phantom Thieves leader and took down the other members of the Phantom Thieves—he had to kill that annoying cat though—along with Akira's other confidants. He was famous throughout the country now and very well-loved for being the man to take down the infamous criminals. After that, he exposed Shido as the piece of shit that he was and practically ruined his life for several months before he finally exterminated him through the Metaverse.
But that wasn't what made him so happy.
What brought him to this state of eternal happiness was the fact that Shiina was all his.
They began to date a few months after they first met. One date turned to two, then, three, then eight, and suddenly they were kissing in his apartment.
It was absolutely euphoric to have Shiina as a lover.
Not only was she beautiful, she was understanding of his plans to murder his father, Shido Masayoshi. Initially it worried him that she'd be put off by his murderous desires, but he guessed that having Endeavor for a father made her so empathetic.
She knew about his dark side—hell, she accepted it. But there were still some dark things that he wanted to hide from her. Like the fact that he lied to her about Ryuji wanting to kill her. To be fair, he was sure that he and the rest of the Thieves had malicious intentions for his darling, but he honestly didn't know what they were hoping to accomplish with targeting her.
But that didn't matter to him. Shiina had taken his words to heart and separated herself from that delinquent's life despite his incessant begging for her to come back. He could still remember the look on his face when they conversed in the interrogation room...
He smiled as he thought of it.
The cameras and microphones were off in the room and Akechi was left fully alone with Sakamoto Ryuji.
"Sakamoto-kun," Akechi began pleasantly as he sat down across from him. "Do you love my Shiina?"
"She's not friggin' yours," Ryuji spat, staring at him with pure hate. "I dunno what sort of brainwash you did on her, but she'll snap out of it and realize what a goddamn psychopath you are!"
Akechi chuckled under his breath. "You didn't answer my question, Sakamoto-kun. Don't worry, you can be honest with me. I won't be mad."
"H-how is what I feel any of your business?!" He yelled out.
"I'll take that as a 'yes'. Have you ever wondered why she won't ever return your feelings? Other than the fact that she loves me now, of course." His smile widened as Ryuji continued to fume.
"...The hell are you talkin' about?" Ryuji narrowed his eyes at him.
"It's because you betrayed her." Akechi answered his own question.
"What the hell—!"
"—I told her all about your evil scheme to kill her in order to throw the police off your trail," Akechi interrupted swiftly.
"WHAT?!"
"And she was so devastated," Akechi sighed sadly at the memory. "It broke my heart to tell her that her own best friend wanted her dead for his own selfish reasons. But I gave her all the proof she needed and she came running to my arms."
"What is this bullshit?!" Ryuji barked. "I never planned to kill her!"
"Oh, but didn't you send her a calling card after murdering Okumura?" Akechi pointed out slyly and Ryuji froze. "My poor darling... she must have been so scared when she found that calling card... Thankfully I stumbled into her Palace and saved her."
Ryuji stared at him with wide eyes before his body began to tremble. Realization smacked him in the face like a pile of bricks. "You..." He growled lowly. "You lied to her! You sick fuck, you lied to her!"
Akechi's smile widened as he continued to taunt him. "She was so happy when I finally captured you all—"
"—SHUT THE HELL UP!" Ryuji cried out hoarsely, glaring at him with an amount of abhorrence that he had never seen before. "You lied to her, you tricked and manipulated her—"
"—I saved her from you—"
"—You tricked her into loving you," he snarled. He opened his mouth to say more, but Akechi cut in.
"I think I should take my leave now," he said, his smile dark. "Shiina is waiting for me to return. Perhaps she'll finally let me make love to her."
Ryuji blanched at the thought of that happening. Akechi gave him a smug look before turning around to head for the door. He froze when Ryuji spoke once more.
"When she finds out—and she will—she's gonna hate you, and then she's gonna leave you—"
BANG!
Ryuji's head flew back a bit before he hit the table, eyes frozen wide and blood pouring out from the bullet hole in the middle of his head—the same exact position his pathetic leader was once in.
Akechi glared viciously at his corpse before angrily exiting the interrogation room. The guard stationed there gave him a frightened look.
"What happened in there?! Was that a gunshot?!"
"Yes. I killed him. Clean up the mess." Akechi ordered, shoving the gun into it's holster. He stalked away, leaving the guard to panic on his own.
Ryuji's words pissed him off, but he wouldn't allow the words of a dead man bother him anymore.
Anyways, besides that, there were a few other things that he hid from her but they weren't as major as the prior one. Just some minor things like killing all her ex-boyfriends and her admirers. He even killed a couple of his fan-girls that didn't approve of his lover. There was also a complaint about a math teacher that made her uncomfortable one time. He had him arrested for a false crime and ordered for his murder once in prison.
Things were good in his life now. Well, almost good. Shiina loved him, but there was still one problem...
Todoroki Shouto.
Ever since she gave herself a change of heart, she spent as much time as possible with her elder twin brother to make up for all the times she spent resenting him. Akechi never had any siblings so he couldn't understand their close bond.
All he knew was that he couldn't stand the fact that Shouto was sometimes a first priority for her. There was one time she even left during the middle of a date because Shouto's class was attacked by a group of villains during a field trip (after she left, he prayed for Shouto to be killed).
He contemplated on the idea of killing her brother, but always decided against it. It nearly broke Shiina when she found out about Ryuji's... 'betrayal', and he just knew that Shiina would completely shatter should anything happen to Shouto.
So for now, her irksome twin was in the safe zone.
But everyone else was open season.
He stood there outside of the gates of Shujin Academy. Girls were awing at him as they walked passed to walk home and boys were whispering to themselves in excitement about his presence. Nobody approached him though. They all knew who he was here for.
Unfortunately, the object of his affections was too busy speaking to some boy to notice him waiting to pick her up.
He watched with dark eyes as she conversed to an older student by the name of Mishima Yuuki. He was one of the few confidants of Akira that he didn't bother to arrest because of their little participation in the Phantom Thieves' crimes. He knew that he was a fan of the Phantom Thieves though, but nothing else since he deemed the younger boy unimportant.
But now... now he was beginning to regret ignoring him.
Akechi put on his smile once Shiina finally noticed him and headed his way.
"Who was that, darling?" He asked with faux curiosity as she greeted him with a bright grin.
"Him? You mean Mishima? He's just some upperclassman." She said dismissively before wrapping her arms around his neck and leaning up to kiss him sweetly on the lips.
He held her waist possessively. "Why was he talking to you?" He asked, trying to keep from showing any jealousy.
A scowl marred her pretty face. "These guys were gonna push him down a staircase but I pushed them down instead. He just wanted to thank me."
Ignoring the fact that she had resorted to bodily harm, his heart warmed at the thought of her defending someone. But honestly, while he adored how caring she could sometimes be, he hated it when her attention was on someone else that wasn't him.
"That was sweet of you," he crooned, pecking the crown of her head as he contemplated on killing Mishima too.
She giggled in his chest. "Thanks. Now drive me home, please?"
He pulled away and frowned at her. "Home? But I thought that... he would be off from work today."
Her face darkened. "He is. And he's gonna be training Sho-chan so I want to be there to keep him from hurting him... or hurting him too much at least..." She mumbled the last part.
Endeavor. Oh how he hated the very mention of Endeavor. Just seeing him in television and hearing people praise him was enough to make him physically sick. The only reason he was still alive was because he wanted to hear those five special words from his beloved.
After driving her home and obsessively watching her every step until she disappeared behind the doors, he returned home, his mind in a frenzy.
As he tried to relax in his couch, he tensed up again as his phone buzzed in his pocket. He hastily answered it when he saw Shiina's lovely face smiling at him from the screen.
Before he could greet her, she said the five special words he had been longing to hear.
"I want to kill Endeavor."
He smiled wickedly.
Finally.
— ❤ —
The perfect plan had formulated in his head the second those words left her perfect lips.
He was going to kill two birds with one stone.
He had already planted a calling card similar to the one the Phantom Thieves made in Endeavor's hero agency and it sent the country in a state of panic. He assured the population that he would get to the bottom of this, of course.
And now, came the rest of his plan.
"He hurt Shouto," Shiina muttered miserably from beside him. "Endeavor was pissed at me, but Shouto defended me and he got hit for it."
"He still hit you though," Akechi pointed out, nearly hissing, as his red eyes scanned her fair cheek. It had been bruised when Endeavor had smacked her, but he summoned Robin Hood and had him heal the ugly bruise that dared to mark his princess' gorgeous face.
She shook her head dismissively, making him frown. "He almost burned Shouto. He yelled at Fuyumi too when she tried to step in... I can't take it anymore. I hate him, I hate how he hurts us and how everyone sings praises to him without knowing what he's really like."
Akechi grasped her trembling hand. "He'll pay for hurting you, my love. I'll make sure of it."
She nodded, still looking dejectedly at the ground. He pressed his lips to her forehead before pulling out his phone.
"Todoroki Enji. Empire."
The world around him faded away as they were brought to the Metaverse. The new world they were in had a dark, purple sky, and a vicious red glow coming from every source of light. They stood atop of a mountain where a large traditional Japanese Palace stood in place of the Todoroki estate. It towered impossibly high, looming over a large empire of slaves and worshippers alike.
The Shadows here were much harder to defeat than the ones back in Shiina's Palace, and she was having some trouble defeating them since she wasn't as experienced as he was with his Persona. But she and Tullia were managing just fine with his help though.
Endeavor's Palace had cognitions much like her's had. The first cognition they stumbled upon was her mother's. They only caught a glimpse of her through a window at the farthest tower on the west wing. There were bars in her window and she was dressed somewhat regally but the sorrowful expression she wore screamed that she was treated more like a slave than royalty.
Shiina wanted to go to her, but Akechi ushered her away, saying that the mission was more important.
The next one was herself. Chained deep in the dungeons, starved to the bone, wearing ratty clothes, and an empty, defeated expression. It made Shiina seethe because this was what Endeavor thought of her. An abomination that needed to be locked far away where no one can see.
Her cognition didn't even try to fight back when she stepped forward to euthanize her.
They ran into Shouto afterwards. Or, a cognition of him. His eyes were yellow and his monotone voice sounded twisted and empty. It made Shiina shiver upon meeting him. Like many of the Shadows here, he saw Endeavor as his supreme ruler and carried off every order he was given, like a slave.
This Shouto was a prince. Ready succeed the throne from his father and conquer the other kingdoms like he had done.
Shiina shouldn't have been surprised that Endeavor saw Shouto as that, but it still sickened her to the core nevertheless.
She and Akechi worked together to defeat his Shadow—which specialized in both ice and fire magic so it was a bitch to kill in Akechi's opinion—before moving on. As they ventured deeper, they didn't run into Fuyumi, Natsuo, or Touya.
She didn't know how to feel about that.
They finally reached the throne room, where 'Emperor' Enji sat upon his blood red throne.
"To think," Endeavor snarled under his breath. "That the two intruders I've been hearing so much about is my abomination of a daughter and a nameless detective."
Akechi's eye twitched. "Oh Endeavor, I hate to break it to you, but I think I have a couple hundred more fangirls then you. None of them are as lovely as my Shiina, of course." He shot her a charming look at the corner of his eyes and she rolled her eyes as if to say 'now's not the time to flirt with me'.
"It's 'imperial majesty' to you." Endeavor sneered.
Shiina made a face. "It sounds like too much of a mouthful."
"GUARDS!" Endeavor roared. "Kill these lowlives!"
A horde of samurai Shadows appeared and Shiina clicked her tongue in annoyance. She should've tried to kill him the second they stepped in the throne room!
"Tullia!"
"Loki!"
As the murderous couple slaughtered the Shadows one by one, Endeavor did nothing but sit at his throne with heated eyes. She hated how unbothered he appeared to be and almost screamed at him to do something.
The second she killed the last of the Shadows, she didn't hesitate to lunge for Endeavor. Her hand grasped around his throat and she pinned him against his own grand throne.
"You're not even sorry, are you?" She hissed at his face. "All the pain you've caused to your own wife and kids—it didn't mean shit to you because you were too busy chasing after a pipe dream!"
He choked under her grip, glaring at her with his cold, yellow eyes.
"You couldn't even beat him in your own fantasy," she sneered mockingly, enjoying the rage building in his eyes. "I've heard whispers around your palace. In here, All Might died and only then were you able to conquer his grieving kingdom. I find it funny that you're just as pathetic as your original self."
He let out a strangled growl at her words.
"Shiina, get back!" Akechi called out in alarm.
Heeding his warning, she jumped away from him only to realize that Endeavor was transforming into a Shadow. She slowly craned her neck up as the black glob continued to grow and grow.
"...Oh fuck..." She squeaked as a goddamn dragon appeared.
"Oh you've gotta be kidding me..." Akechi breathed out, staring upwards too.
The dragon let out a mighty roar before soaring up to the ceiling and breaking through it.
"Shiina!" Akechi gasped, darting forward and tackling her down in order to shield her from the falling debris.
"I didn't think he'd be a dragon!" He heard her shout through the chaos. "I honest to god thought he'd turn into some giant turd or something!"
"Hah...!" He laughed hoarsely. Trust her to bring some humor in a dire situation. The shaking finally stopped and he looked up, relieved that pieces of the ceiling were no longer at risk of crushing them. He stood and helped her up.
"I thought he'd turn into a demon," he replied, gazing up where Dragon Endeavor was. He was still glaring furiously at them, which was no surprise. Glaring seemed to be the man's default face—dragon or not.
"SHIINA!" He boomed in a deafening volume. Akechi was sure the entire empire could hear him. "YOU WILL DIE! BY MY HANDS!"
And then, he opened his mouth and breathed a column of fire at them.
Cursing under his breath, Akechi gripped Shiina's hand tightly as they sprinted out of the room and into the hallway. Behind them, they could feel the searing heat of the flames. "We'll have to fight him on the roof," he exclaimed. "Here, we'll climb up through the windows!"
"Got it," huffing, she slinked out the closest window and climbed up the side of the wall, Akechi following suit.
"If we kill him," she began unsurely. "Does that mean he won't have a change of heart?"
"Yes," he answered. "Are you... are you having regrets about this?"
"Oh definitely not," she glared. "I still want the bitch dead. I just want the world to know what he had done."
Akechi could understand that. He recalled what happened to Okumura before he died. The Thieves had stolen his Treasure before he stepped in and shot him dead. Even though his Shadow had died, the real Okumura still had enough time to confess (most) of his crimes before he was killed on live television.
The same could be done for Endeavor.
"We take the Treasure, whatever it is." Akechi told her. "And then we kill him."
Shiina nodded, a steely glint in her eyes. "Good plan." She said before heaving herself up to the second highest roof (the first highest was... well, destroyed).
"I'm going to blind him," Akechi muttered, purely focused as he summoned his gun. The dragon had yet to notice where they were and was still busy stupidly spitting fire at the same room they had escaped minutes ago. "Endeavor-san!" He sang playfully. "Look over here for me!"
Instantly, Endeavor whipped his large head at their direction and—
BANG! BANG!
Endeavor let out a pained roar, recoiling back as his bleeding eyes closed shut. Angered at it's newfound blindness and pained, he blindly flew towards them and opened his mouth.
"—Eiga!" Shiina shouted, Tullia summoned beside her. Tullia spread her arms out and a barrage of Curse attacks struck the dragon repeatedly, smacking him around and making him crash into several towers.
"Robin Hood!" Akechi summoned his lighter Persona. The large figure notched a couple golden arrows at once before releasing them. Each stabbed through the dragon, making him puff smoke from the pain. He was completely obscured now.
But suddenly...
"DAMN YOUUUU!" Endeavor screamed, flying through the smoke.
The two dodged to the right to avoid being hit by him, his body destroying a part of the roof they were on.
"Shit," Akechi cursed once more. "This roof won't stay stable for long. We need to mo—Shiina?!" He choked out her name as he watched her dive for the next roof. What the hell was she doing? She could've missed, she could've fallen—!
But Shiina didn't seem to care because she was vaulting herself off that roof to get to the next one, and then the next one, and so forth. Behind her, Tullia was effortlessly shooting Endeavor down with Curse attacks. Eiga, Mudo, and the like.
Akechi tried scrambling after her, but the jump to the next roof was really far... He had no idea how she managed to make it. Before he could say fuck it and jump, Shiina did something that quite literally gave him a heart attack.
When Endeavor was close enough, she jumped.
Off the roof.
Akechi let out a dying noise at the back of his throat as he watched her fall... But then she suddenly stabbed her blood red claws into Endeavor's neck. And then she was sliding down, dragging the blades down with her and creating a large bleeding laceration starting from his neck all the way down to his soft belly. Endeavor let out an agonized shriek, thrashing his body around, but Shiina's claws were in deep and she absolutely refused to be thrown off.
Akechi couldn't help but gawk at the scene, marveling at his girlfriend's recklessness. Honestly... This girl...
As Shiina continued to mutilate him, Endeavor was lowering himself down, the pain building up too much that he could barely keep himself up in the air anymore.
Akechi looked below them and paled. They were going to crash in the courtyard. Shiina could potentially get crushed by Endeavor too.
"Shiina, down below you!" He warned her.
"Got it!" He thought he heard her say.
Still hovering a few feet off the ground, she removed her claws from his tail and fell before dropping into a roll. A few seconds later the massive dragon finally fell to the ground before it was enveloped in black.
Quickly, Akechi jumped down on the smaller roofs until he reached the ground. Then, he dashed towards the courtyard where he saw Shiina already facing off with Endeavor, who was back to his original, yellow-eyed self.
"Where is it?" She asked tensely.
Endeavor, breathing deeply, huffed at her. "Where's... what...?"
"The Treasure!" She barked. "Where are you keeping it?!"
"Why should I tell you?" He glared weakly at her.
She smirked. "Because that's the only thing keeping me from killing you."
He took the threat seriously, not realizing that he would be dead anyways.
"...The Gallery Room," he answered in a defeated voice. "It's in the first floor."
"Goro-chan, can you go get it?" She asked without looking at him.
Akechi glanced uneasily between her and Endeavor, worried that he might pull something on her while he was gone.
She seemed to sense his unease and turned to give him a reassuring look. "I'll be fine here. Just... go get it, please?"
His eyes softened and he nodded, turning away and leaving the courtyard.
As he disappeared into the building, Shiina faced her father and stared at him, searching his face for any signs of remorse or anything to show that he was human.
Unable to take the silence, she spoke up softly, her eyes nearly begging. "I defeated you... I took you down and everything... And you're not even going to acknowledge that?"
He looked away from her and mumbled, "It doesn't count if you had help."
She reached out to smack him. "Don't you have any decency in you?!" She cried hoarsely. "We're supposed to be your fucking family! But you have mom stuck up a tower like goddamn Rapunzel, Shouto's your puppet, and I'm rotting away in a dungeon cell! I don't even know where Fuyumi and Natsuo are in here!" She sucked in a deep breath as she stared deeply into his yellow eyes—which she imagined to be cerulean just like her own. "You were my hero, dad... I looked up to you! I loved you so much, so how could you just... do this...?!"
He stayed silent, staring at her with mouth slightly open, as if he didn't know what to say.
Her lower lip was trembling and her eyes were stinging furiously. "When did you become so cruel, dad...?"
"I..."
"You're all alone now," she said with a shaky voice, glaring at him as tears began to spill. "I used to stand by your side—I was the only one who stood by your side—but you pushed me away and now you're all alone. The people closest to you—we all hate you. Do you even care about that? You never pay attention to your subordinates or your fans, you have no friends, and no siblings, you have absolutely nothing but mom and your kids, but we all hate you."
Slowly, he opened his mouth to speak but the world began to shake and Shiina knew that Akechi had acquired the Treasure. Her time here was limited now.
Endeavor grabbed her wrist, but his grip was painful. It was almost desperate.
"Shiina, I—"
"—I don't want to hear your apologies anymore, Endeavor." She said quietly.
"I'm sorry." He told her.
She shook her head as a gauntlet appeared over her dominant hand. "It's too late for that."
He hastily retracted his hand, but she shot up and grabbed him, pulling him towards her. There was a brief second where she paused, a second of hesitation and should I really do this, he regrets now, and do I really want him dead?
But memories of seeing her mother sitting in her small room in a mental facility, what happened to Touya, and Shouto's empty expression that he had mastered over the years flashed through her head and the hesitation went away.
Clawed arm pulled back, she struck down and pierced him through the chest right where his heart was supposed to be. Black blood spurted out as she pulled her hand back. She watched almost numbly as she released his arm and Endeavor collapsed to his knees, black liquid pooling through his regal robes.
The Palace shook aggressively but she stood there, staring at his dead body.
"—na! Shiina!" A voice was suddenly screaming in her ear and a rough yank of her arm suddenly brought her back to reality. She snapped her head up to see Akechi staring at her in concern.
"The Palace is collapsing, we need to hurry!"
She gazed back down at her fa—Endeavor's body. "Y-yeah..." She said, sounding somewhat dazed.
Akechi dragged her out of the courtyard. "Come on!"
As they sprinted out of the Palace, Shiina glanced down at the Treasure Akechi was carrying. It was a black blood-stained sword, most likely tainted by all of 'Emperor' Enji's enemies.
When they returned to reality, right outside the Todoroki estate, the bloody sword turned into...
"...It's his hero license." Shiina muttered in an empty voice.
Akechi stared down at it before tucking it into his pocket. "He won't be needing it anymore."
Shiina didn't see the vicious glee he wore on his face.

Less than a week later, Endeavor confessed on live television of his abusive ways.
A mental shutdown was triggered in him right after that.
Shiina felt strangely... emotionless as she watched it happen on the television screen with Fuyumi and Shouto. There was a ringing in her ears as he watched the black gunk spurt from his nose, lips, and eyes and the ringing turned deafening when he collapsed to the floor with a dead thud.
Fuyumi was shrieking and weeping and Shouto sat there beside her stunned speechless. But Shiina stared at the screen, completely expressionless.
She had done it.
She made Endeavor confess his sins for the whole world to hear... and she had killed him. After his death, she spent the rest of the week in a daze, numbly waiting for his funeral to come.
People were arguing left and right at what to do about his death. Some felt like Endeavor's death should still be honored somewhat, like all heroes who were killed have been. The other half felt like Endeavor didn't deserve shit. They wanted to take down everything he had created, all for the sake of his wife and kids.
The only good thing that had happened was that Rei was finally released from the hospital now that Endeavor was no longer alive to keep her in there longer. Rei had smiled when they came to pick her up, but the smile didn't reach her eyes. Shiina had an underlying feeling that his death was affecting her a lot.
Shiina's stomach churned guiltily. Had she done the wrong thing? She just wanted to end all the pain Endeavor was putting her family through. But had she made it worse?
Her fears were confirmed a few days before the funeral. She had made things worse. For Mishima Yuuki that is. One day during school, she watched as a group of policemen barged in during lunch and arrested Mishima on the spot, without warning even.
Akechi never answered her calls or texts asking for what was going on, but she learned what happened that same night while watching a news report.
Mishima Yuuki was arrested for being the 'copycat' Phantom Thief.
And he was also arrested for the murder of Endeavor.
Even worse was that the arrest was ordered by Akechi, the detective who had supposedly 'solved' the case.
Shiina vomited.

Her worried thoughts piled up and up until the day of the funeral finally came. It was small and quiet, with only her family members and a few heroes he worked alongside with. All Might stepped up to say a eulogy and Shiina nearly scoffed, knowing that Endeavor would be rolling in his grave at this very moment.
Fuyumi said a few words too, but broke down in the middle of it. Rei politely refused, as did Shouto and Natsuo. Shiina straight out said 'no'. She had nothing to say to him.
Hours passed and people were finally beginning to leave. Natsuo was the first of the family to leave, he had been stone-faced the entire funeral. Fuyumi took Rei and Shouto home, and requested for Shiina to join them, but she told them she wanted to stay for a bit longer. Fuyumi didn't argue, and left soon enough.
She was all alone now, or so she thought. A tall figure stepped beside her and joined her in front of the casket.
"I never expected to see you stay here. Todoroki Shiina, right?" The man said, his voice... almost empty.
"Kiberi," she corrected automatically, not looking at him.
She missed the satisfied smile he wore for a brief second.
"Did you love him?" He asked.
"I used to. But then I hated him. Now I just feel nothing for him." She replied, never taking her eyes off Endeavor's face in the casket.
"Lucky how you can just let go like that," he said. "If I were in that family... I'd still resent him even after death."
Shiina frowned slightly. Something sounded off about that. She finally turned to face him only for her words to die out when she saw his face. Burnt purple patches were stapled onto his face and hands, leaving only very little fair skin left.
He glanced at her and gave her a sardonic smile. "Do I terrify you?"
"No, sorry, I just," she stammered, feeling a bit bad for staring. "...Sorry."
He shrugged uncaringly. "It's fine. It scares everyone. These are just old burns now."
She grimaced. Thinking of burns made her think of the flames Endeavor would shoot at Shouto during training.
"Oh..." She said weakly.
"My old man gave them to me, but I guess I made things worse too." He told her.
Shiina didn't know why this stranger was spilling such personal things to her, but hearing what his dad did made her sick.
"That's... fucking terrible," she accidentally let out a curse, but oh well. It really was fucking terrible what his dad had done to him. "Is he at least rotting away in a prison cell?"
"He's about to be rotting six feet under if you know what I mean." He chuckled, his cerulean eyes darker now.
"Ah," she nodded slowly. "Was it... just you he hurt or? S-sorry, I shouldn't even be asking—"
"—Nah, it's fine," he shrugged. "I had other siblings too. I was the eldest of them. He hurt all of us."
"Oh," she said, feeling sickened. "Y-you said 'had'...? Are they...? Did he...?"
"No," he answered. "It was only me."
"Huh?" What did he mean by that?
"My siblings are precious to me," he said, and she took note on how he suddenly switched to present tense. "And I hate how my old man kept hurting them... He hurt my youngest siblings the most. My sweet baby brother and sister." There was a possessive and protective tone at that last sentence.
That reminds me of myself and Shouto, she thought sadly.
"Well," she tried to give him a comforting smile. "Your father's gone now. He can't hurt them anymore."
"That's right..." He drawled, eyeing her with a certain emotion that she couldn't pinpoint. "But I still think I should watch after them. The world's cruel, after all."
She stayed silent, not knowing what to say to that.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed in her pocket. She took it out and saw the screen. Akechi was calling her. She hastily answered it, turning away from the man.
"Fuyumi told me you stayed at the funeral?" He asked right away.
"Yes, I—"
"—I'll be right there. Just wait for me." And with that, he hung up.
She stared incredulously at her phone before her features contorted into a glare. She hadn't seen him in days, and he absolutely refused to explain why Mishima of all people was blamed for her crime, and this was all he could say to her?!
She could feel a heavy gaze on her and looked up to catch the stranger's eyes. Her glare disappeared right away, and she swallowed thickly in mild embarrassment.
"Trouble in paradise?" He asked knowingly.
She nodded, "Er, yeah."
He made a small humming noise. "Don't you think fifteen's too young for dating?"
She stared at him in bewilderment. "Uhhhh, what?"
"Just sayin'," he raised his arms up in defense. "But I know that if my little sister had a boyfriend... well, I think I'd kill him."
She giggled. "You're one of those overprotective brothers, huh? Sho-nii and Natsu-nii are like that with me too. They freaked out when they found out that I was dating the 'second coming prince detective'. My older sister was the only one who was accepting."
"She always is..." He muttered under his breath.
"Hm?" She peered up at him.
He shook his head. "Nothing. I'll be taking my leave now. Wouldn't want your boyfriend to see you hanging around another man, huh?"
She chuckled. "Meh, he's not really like that."
He looked at her deeply, as if he knew something about Akechi that she didn't and it unnerved her. His scarred face then broke out into a small smile, but something about it was dark and sinister.
"I'll see you later, ichigo."
Shiina's entire body shutdown as she registered his last word.
"What did you just...?" She breathed out, but the stranger was already walking away. She stepped forward to call out to him. "W-wait—!"
"Shiina?" A new voice said.
She snapped her head towards the sound and saw Akechi, who was staring at her in concern. "Are you alright?" He asked.
She didn't answer.

Shiina couldn't believe what she was seeing. She was supposed to go over to Akechi's place to demand answers about Mishima's arrest but his apartment building...
Was on fire.
And it wasn't just that. The flames were all blue. It just wasn't normal for a house fire to be blue. Was it because of someone's Quirk?
She didn't realize that she was running towards the fire when a fireman suddenly yanked her back. "Miss, please stay away from the building!"
"M-my boyfriend's in there! He's lives at the very top!" She shouted desperately, looking back at the destruction. The blue flames... it seemed to be coming from Akechi's floor.
The fireman took one good look at her and recognized her instantly. She wasn't surprised by it though. Everyone knew her nowadays. First she was the girlfriend of the famous detective prince, and then she was the hidden Todoroki daughter.
"I-I see. But you still need to stay back. We're currently trying to evacuate everyone from the building. I'm sure Akechi-san will come out soon."
She nodded hesitantly and moved away, joining the crowd of people who watched in horror. She kept her eyes glued to the blue flames, feeling dread in the pit of her stomach.
Goro... She thought in despair before someone suddenly tapped her shoulder. She turned around only for a rag to be shoved at her face. Chemicals filled her nostrils and her eyes fluttered closed. She fainted into a pair of scarred arms hidden behind a dark jacket.
When she woke up, she could barely register the fact that she was on a bed. A low moan escaped her lips as she struggled to open your eyes.
"You awake there, sleeping beauty?" A familiar voice teased. It was almost monotonous just like... like that man's—!
Her eyes snapped wide open and her blurry vision caught sight of a familiar head of black hair.
Oh god. Oh god, oh god, oh god, oh god—
"Breathe, ichigo," he said, coming closer as if that would stop her from hyperventilating.
She tried to move but she could feel that her limbs were all tied up and her head was pounding and she could still smell the chloroform from that rag as if he had been stuffing her face with it for days now.
Wait a minute. How long has it been since this psychopath kidnapped her?!
"Don't worry," her kidnapper said and she wanted to laugh at him because how could she NOT worry?! "You're probably scared shitless now. Ah, damn... I was hoping you'd stay drugged until I got Shouto."
"Sh-Shouto...?" She whispered fearfully, her blood turning to ice. He wanted to kidnap Shouto too?! Why?! "D-don't... don't fucking touch him...!"
He clicked his tongue in mock disappointment. "Language. And I told you not to worry, didn't I? I'm not gonna hurt you or Shouto."
She glared at him weakly, her mind still hazy from whatever he had done to her. "Let me go."
He snorted. "I just got you, why would I ever let you go? I'm doing this for your own good. For Shouto's own good too once I nab him."
She tried to break free from her bindings, tried to summon her gauntlets, her Persona, anything, but her mind was too drugged up for such concentration. He chuckled at her struggle and sat down next to her. She tried to inch away from him, but he just dragged her back to his side and continued to hold
"Don't you know who I am, ichigo?" He asked slyly. "You used to call me 'Touya-nii' in the most sweetest voice. You were always so happy to see me."
She froze, shivering violently. There was no way. There was just no way he was Touya, because Touya—
"I was the only one who took care of you when he locked you away," he said darkly. "I'd come into your room to feed you, take care of you whenever you were sick—and trust me, you were a sickly kid—and I even helped you with your homework and read to you whenever Fuyumi was too scared of our old man to do it. Sometimes I can't help but miss the good old days, don't you?"
"H-how...?"
"In fact..." He drawled, leaning down closer. "I missed it so much... Taking care of my precious little siblings... That I couldn't help but snatch you when the chance came. Aren't you grateful, imouto? Nothing's gonna hurt you anymore. No more annoying reporters, shady boyfriends, nothing. And soon, Shouto will join us too. Now ain't that great?"
Her teeth were chattering from the tremendous amount of fear she was feeling at this point. "Y-y-you're crazy...!"
He smiled wryly at her. "I'm just doing what I should've done a long time ago. I'm going to take good care of you from now on."
And then, another rag full of chloroform was over her face and her eyes rolled into the back of her head.
She was enveloped in darkness once more.
