trust us on this one

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Cara's aunt and cousin had gotten occupied by meeting Tony, whom the latter was rather starstruck by seeing. So with a grin, she left the three of them to get to know each other, though Tony didn't look too thrilled about it, as he'd given her a cold stare before she left.

The moment she was out of the living room, Steve bombarded her with questions about how it was, and what happened, to which she only smirked. "Oh, please, Gramps," she teased him, "I think we both know you were listening in on the whole thing."

He blushed. "Yeah, sorry. But in my defense," he held up a finger, "you weren't being very quiet."

She grinned, giggling. "You're adorable, Steven," she said, and reached up to plant a kiss square on his lips.

"You guys, you do know that I'm--sorry, we're--still here, right?" Nat drawled smoothly, crossing her arms. "I'd appreciate it if you kept those happenings strictly for the bedroom."

Cara rolled her eyes. "Aw, Nat, is PDA a little too much for you?"

"It is when you're sucking each other's faces off," she scowled.

While Steve blushed deeper, Cara shot back, "That didn't even count!" She stuck her tongue out at the redhead, ignoring the fact that it may have been childish, and was pulled away by Steve, who'd barely managed to compose himself after being embarrassed by Nat.

Cara allowed herself to be dragged down the hallway away from Nat, Clint, and Bruce, and grinned wickedly as she noticed he was taking her to his bedroom. "Taking Nat's advice, are we?"

He shook his head, a small grin on his face, radiating amusement. "Do you want me to?" He smirked.

Cara squeezed his hand, pulling him closer to her so their chests were flush against each other. She lifted her chin, placing her palm against his cheek, and let herself fall completely into him, loving the sweet feeling of having his lips against hers. He moved her confidently from the entrance of his bedroom to sit on his bed after closing the door.

Cara's bottom lip got caught between both of his, and she let out a small gasp as he ran his tongue along it. With her small bit of surprise, Steve took advantage of it, now able to swirl their two tongues together in a deepened kiss.

A kiss that should've been like all of their other kisses, the ones that were chaste and quick, the ones that were savory and slow. But this one was different. She didn't know where he was getting it from, but he was desperate as he captured her lips, laying back so she was on top of him, her knees straddling his hips.

She pulled away, out of breath. "Now what was that for?" She smirked, her lips plump and swollen.

"You're amazing," he breathed, finding a spot right underneath her ear that made her pulse race when his lips brushed a feather-light kiss against it. "Absolutely amazing." His breath was hot against her skin, and she let out a shaky breath, unable to comprehend just how he was able to make her lose control like this. It had been less than a week since their first kiss, but it was like they already knew everything about each other.

"Well, that's something I can agree with," she grinned, and pecked his cheek affectionately. "But seriously," her expression fell into something more serious. "You haven't kissed me like that since...ever." She raised her eyebrows at him.

Steve sighed. "I just...I feel like I can never get any time alone with you without--"

"Oh my god, Spidey, I didn't think you'd invite friends!" A panicked voice, Clint's, shouted out.

Steve made a face of disgust, gesturing to the noise out in the hallway. "That happening," he sighed, and ran a hand through his hair.

Cara felt bad for him. She knew how much he cared about her, and she didn't mean to be cutting him off by any means, but it was a lot to handle, what with finding her long-lost family. And she wanted to please both parties, but she was having a hard time doing it.

She smiled apologetically, and pulled him up to sit, though she was still on his lap. "I'm sorry," she said, trailing kisses down his nose, "but they just came. And I'm guessing something big just happened, so we should go check it out."

Steve nodded begrudgingly. "I guess." He lifted the teen off of his lap effortlessly, showing no strain at all, and stood up. "Let's go see who showed up this time."

The both of them, hand-in-hand, went out into the living room, and found Tony pacing madly, a drink in hand, which was rather usual for the short man.

Tony was grumbling under his breath. "I can't believe it. One minute we have a teenager in our midst, then two, and now we've got his twin friends here, too--"

"Wait, did you say twins?" Steve said, surprise lining his tone. "Where are they?"

Tony pointed lazily in the direction of the main entrance. "Downstairs," he added vaguely, and while Cara and Steve went to use the elevator, they found him following. "What?" He said when they raised their eyebrows at him. "I'm not just going to wait for them to leave, you've got to take this by force."

Steve didn't say anything during the ride down, just tensed his muscles and relaxed them, tense, relax, tense, relax. It was beginning to stress Cara out, she had to admit. It was a little unnerving, the way he was so nervous. So lost in his own memories.

When the elevator dinged, and they were on the first floor, they found the rest of the group, including Aunt May and Peter, standing around two unfamiliar-faced people. The taller one, the boy, had dark brown roots and strikingly blond locks of hair falling over his eyes like a shield, while the girl(his twin sister, if Steve was right) had brown hair that fell to her mid-chest, straight as a stick.

"Captain," the boy greeted in a thickly accented voice, spotting the three of them right away. "It is good to see you."

"I would say the same to you, Pietro," Steve said, "but can I ask what you're doing here first?"

"We need a place to stay," the blond's twin said, the same accent lilting over her words. "This was the first place we thought of."

Tony wasn't having any of it, unfortunately. "Okay, I do not agree with this," he held up a hand.

"And why not?" Cara challenged, crossing her arms and facing the man.

"Because this tower used to be mine, and I don't want it becoming a foster home, not under my watch!" He said angrily.

Cara rolled her eyes. "Come on, Tony, we have to at least learn why they need to stay here, right?"

Steve nodded. "Trust us on this one," he agreed.

"Oh, great, glad to know the golden couple is on the same page," Clint drawled, rolling his eyes the same way Cara had rolled hers.

"Whatever, Katnip," Cara teased, "what's the worst that could happen?"

"A lot of things," all of them chorused, including her family members, which only hurt her feelings a little bit.

"Everyone we know is trying to kill us," Pietro interrupted.

Steve set his jaw in a grim line, and welcomed them further into the building.

"Not everyone."
