Kara hears a voice coming from the hallway, but she is still sleepy so she doesn't understand what it says or who is it.
A minute later Mike enters to Kara's room trying not to make any noise so she will not wake-up, but Kara is a light-sleeper so she woke up the minute she heard voices in the hallway.
"So... can I help you?" she says opening her eyes and stretching.
"Sorry I didn't mean to wake you up, but Jenna called and she is in the airport and she sounded frustrated... I don't know, I'm just looking for the keys of your car, mine doesn't work." Kara notices that Mikes is shaking and his voice sounds desperate.
"They are here." she takes them from her night-stand "I'll go with you." she says, getting up her bed.
"You don't have to." he says and grabs the keys from Kara's hand.
"Oh, I'm coming." she puts some shorts, a t-shirt and a pair of flip flops and they both get out of the house.
Already in the car, Kara sees the hour and realizes it is 7:05am and she first thinks that this has been the earliest that she has wake up this summer and thinks 'what is Jenna doing on the airport at this hour and today? And why will she need Mike's help?'
"What's going on with Jenna?" she asks and Mike opens his mouth to say something and closed it without answering "Is she drinking again?" she asks worry.
Jenna had drinking problems in the past year.
She went to rehab and everything and for now she was doing great, but Mike knows both of his sisters' well and the way Jenna talked to him on the phone was the way she talked when she is drunk.
He doesn't want to alarm Kara, but he doesn't want to lie to her either, so he nods and without looking at Kara he says "or that's what I think."
"What did she told you over the phone?"
"That she was at the airport and she asked me if I could look for her."
"And why is she early?" he shrugs and says frustrated "I don't know."
"Why are you early?"
"Kara I don't want to talk right now."
"Oh no, don't quote mom please. Tell me why both of you are early."
Mike stops because of the red light and looks at Kara in the eyes "I don't know why she is early-."
"But-?"
"But I'm early because I had a call from dad and mom and they were talking about taking you to boarding school." the light switched to green and he drives again.
She gapes and says angry "What!!!"
"They are worry about you and they think it's better for you if you go far away from here, for a year." he says trying to calm her, but the angry expression on Kara's face told him that he didn't help her so he continues "I would not let them do that before I saw how you were and for me you are fine, when I found your note I was so relief. Start changing how you behave in front mom and dad because they have that idea from some weeks now."
"Does Jenna know?" she says whispering.
"They told Jenna that they were thinking it the last day she was at home before going to New York, and she told me she tried to change your mind but that she didn't tell you exactly. I found out yesterday, and I came here to stop mom and dad and to help you."
"God! They are unbelievable, I don't see them or talk to them all summer and they want to be 'caring parents' for once in their whole freaking life and they are planning to take me to a boarding school"
"They are trying to help." he assures her.
"Do you think that's help? Help is to be with me. They've never asked how I am doing with the whole Austin situation. They just acted like nothing has happened." she says rolling her eyes.
Kara has a mix feelings, anger toward her parent's choice, sadness for them not being with her, happiness for having the most amazing brother and it makes her want to break something and at the same time to cry and scream until she doesn't has any voice.
"I didn't know I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault."
"I know, but I know how it is to have them as parents and it sucks." Kara grimace in response and they stay in silence for a while.
A phone rings and Kara checks her phone and it's a call from Jorge and she answers it "Hey."
"Hi, how are you?" She stills hates that question, but this time she answers it "Good, what's up?"
"Well, I'm planning to have a party at my house. Would you like to come?" normally she will say no and she was about to but she thinks about boarding school and she is definitely not going to a boarding school so she says "Sure, when?"
"Around nine o'clock. Adam will be there, he likes you."
"I don't think that, he is just new and wants friends."
"Yeah right, I'm telling you he couldn't shut up asking questions about you."
"What questions?" she asks worry thinking what did Adam asked and what Jorge told him.
"Where were you all summer and all kind of stuffs, but don't worry I didn't tell him anything is not my place to say those stuffs, that's why I gave him your phone number, hope that's okay."
"Oh yeah, I saw he wrote me last night. I forgot about it, I didn't answer to him, it was late and I wanted to sleep."
"Well, you'll see him tonight, see you later."
"Okay, see you." she hangs up.
"Who was it?" Mike asks frowning with his eyes on the road.
       "Oh, it was Jorge. He invited me to his party tonight, I said yes."
"Yeah I noticed... did you say yes because of the boarding school?"
"Yes. I will not let them get rid of me so easy, if they want to see I've move on then I'll act like I did."
"I'm kind of glad you said that." he says relieve.

After a half an hour drive they got to the airport and both of them are nervous about Jenna.
They see her outside with her suitcases. And when she spots the car she waves and walks toward them. 
She opens the door and as she gets in she sees Kara in the co-pilot's sit and says "Oh hey Kara, I wasn't expecting you here."
"Are you okay?" Mike asks.
She frowns and says "Why wouldn't I be?"
"I don't know maybe -." Jenna raises his finger interrupting Mike and says "Could you hold that thought for a second?" he closes his mouth and she gets her head out of the door and throws-up.
"She is drunk." Kara affirms.
"Oh God Jenna, what did you do?" Mike asks her and gets out of the car.
Kara goes to the back sits and grabs Jenna's hair and mine while Mike puts the suitcases in the trunk. "I think you should buy water and chips." Kara says to Mike and Jenna throws-up again.
"I'll be back in a minute." he says and goes inside the airport.
"Okay Jenna, I need you to work with me. C'mon." Kara says, and she grabs her sister and puts her inside the car, then she closes the door and lowers the window "Good, now I'll do you a bun."
​ Mike came back and enters to the car "Good, here." he hands Kara the chips and the water and he drives.
​ Jenna throws-up for five minutes and then she stops and puts her head inside the car "I'm so sorry." she says.
​ "Here you need some water." Kara says and gives her the water and she takes a sip.
​"What happen?" Mike asks.
​"I've not a clue. I know that when you left some friends came and I can be so sure I didn't drink, but I wake up in the coach with a bottle on one hand and then I'm in the airport and now I'm here."
​ "I cannot believe that you drink again!!!" Mike says angry.
​ "I'm so sorry. I have none idea of what happen."
​ He hits the steering wheel and says "Of course, you are drunk Jenna."
"Mike, calm down." Kara says.
​"Don't ask me that. You know that we had a deal, and you broke it." he says frustrated and yelling.
​ "Hey, I told you I'm sorry okay? And I'm telling you I never had a drink on my hand last night."
​ "So what you got drunk by MAGIC?" he yells.
​ "Don't yell at me! I don't know you know more than anyone they could've put alcohol on my drink."
​"And you didn't notice? That's convenient." he says with a sarcastic-annoyed tone.
​"I have not a clue Mike, don't you get that? I cannot remember a thing." Jenna says frustrated and angry at the same time.
​ "Both of you shut up." Kara says "We will talk about this when you are sober and when you are calm, okay?"
​Neither of them answers.

​ On the entire ride no one spoke.
​ The three of them walked inside the house and Mike and Jenna were going upstairs, but Kara stop them "You two come down now." she says and they go to the living room and each took a sit in a different couch.
​"Someone has to start." Kara says breaking off the silence.
​ "Why are you acting like this?" Jenna asks Mike murmuring, and he sighs and says "Because I thought we were past this."
​"I'm sorry, but you have no right to yell at me like you did in the car." she points out furious.
​"If mom and dad find out they are going to send you to rehab, AGAIN."
​"That's why I call you, because I knew you would help me."
​"But why did you drink?"
​"I don't know Mike, but I came here before I did something else!!!" she says yelling and then she takes a deep breath to calm and continues talking "I know I did something wrong but I will be twenty-one, I'm no more the eighteen-year-old girl that needs you every second, I know you like to take care of things, but I can handle it."
​ "It's not taking care of things. It's about avoiding you to do something stupid." he explains and she sits beside Mike and says in a soft voice "You cannot protect me for everything. I know you want but sometimes it's not something you can do."
​"I know that." he whispers.
​ "Good." she says to him and she looks at Kara and says "so hey you were out of the house? That's good."
​"Oh yeah, last night I went to the Lake and tonight I'm going to Jorge's party." Kara says.
​ She raises her eyes surprise and says "Look who is moving on!"
​"I know about the boarding school."
​"I told her when we would pick you up." Mike explains to Jenna.
​"I'm sorry I didn't tell you." Kara shakes her head and says "Oh I'm not mad at you, I was just telling you."
​ "So... Jorge's party huh?"
​"Yeah it starts around nine."
​ "Good."
​ "And I want you home like around two, so mom and dad notice you were out." Mike says.
​ "What?" Jenna asks confuse.
​"They are planning on taking me to boarding school because they think that I haven't moved on, and it is true, but since I don't want to go to boarding school I will pretend that I've move on." Kara explains to Jenna.
​ "Whose idea was it?" Jenna asks looking at Mike, because he is always the one that creates the better ideas.
​ "This idea was from Kara." Mike says and Jenna looks at Kara surprise about hearing that her baby sister, the saint one of the family, had an idea to trick their parents.
​"I've to say that I'm impressed. When did you grow-up?" Jenna says in a jokey tone, but instantly Kara realizes that she grew-up because of Austin's death and that reminded her that he is dead.
Jenna and Mike realize that Kara thought about Austin when her expression changed. "God, I'm sorry." Jenna says with a grimace.
​"No, it's fine." Kara says trying to pull out a smile, but she could see they didn't buy her fake smile "Really, it's okay." she lies again and she sees that Jenna opens her mouth to say something, but she cuts her off by saying "I'm going to take a ride on my bike." she walks out of the house before they could say something else.
Kara gets to the garage and takes out her bike and rides it.
She doesn't know her destination. She just wants to ride for a while without thinking of anything else.
​ For some people listening to music help them forget their problems, for other is running or swimming, but for Kara is riding her bike. But not riding it slow... when she wants to unplug from the world she rides her bike like she is being followed by cars.
Riding fast helps her everything because the only thing she cares off when she's riding is if she will turn to right or left, also she loves to feel the wind on her face.
​ On a turn to the right Kara loses the control over the pedals of the bike and ends up falling.
"Perfect, just what I needed." she says with the bike over her legs.
She grabs the bike and puts it on a side of the sidewalk and starts getting the dirt off her legs when she notices someone standing beside her. She can't see who is because the light of the sun is blocking her view, but she heard a male voice saying "Are you okay? Let me help you." He offers her his hand, and she grabs it and he helps her stand-up and there was when he realizes who is the girl "Kara are you all right?"
​ She looks up and sees a wonderful pair of green eyes and realizes that it's Adam "Oh Adam, yeah I'm fine."
​"You're bleeding, you're not okay." he says pointing to her head.
​ She touches her head and she notices she's bleeding but not so much so she says "It's nothing. I just lost control of the bike."
​"Do you want a ride home?" he asks her, since her bike is now broken.
​"I can walk. Not that far from here."
​ "I'll go with you."
​"You don't have to do that."
​"But I want to." he insists with a concern glance.
​"Okay." she agrees and they walk.
A few steps later Adam asks "You were going insanely fast, is something wrong?"
​"Nah, I like to ride fast when I want to unplug from the world." she explains and now she hears it out loud she realizes how crazy it sounds.
​"And why will you want that?"
​"It is... its complicate." she says not knowing how to explain him her drama.
​ But Adam really wants to know what is wrong with her and he is not a guy who will give up easily so he insists "Then just say it."
​ She shakes her head and says "I don't know." she is not up in the mood for updating someone she met yesterday about her life.
​ He turns around and walks backwards to face her "Let me guess... is it a guy problem?"
​ She nods and shakes her head and then she explains him "Yes, but not the way you are thinking."
​ He frowns and asks with a curious grin "And what am I thinking?"
​ "Bad break-up or something like that."
​ "Then you are still with this guy?" he asks hopping the answer is no.
​ "No." she answers and he lets out a gaze of relief, but then he thinks 'if it isn't a bad break-up and she is not with someone. What might be?'
He raises his hands defeated "Now I'm lost." he says honestly.
​ She gives him a small grimace and when she looks at him in the eyes she notices there is something there, something she can't understand that tells her she can trust him. Maybe because he has the most gorgeous pair of eyes anyone can ask for.
She shakes her head and before she realized it she says "He died." and that was the first time she said those two words out loud and it made her feel like she has finally admitted something she didn't wanted to face and she felt a huge pain being release from her chest.
​ He gapes "Wow that was not the problem I was expecting. I'm so sorry."
​ She could see in his eyes he is really sorry, and that's something she appreciates because not everyone that says those words meant what they were saying, they will simply say it for pity 
"Don't worry." she tells him with a small glance.
​ "How did he-?" before he could continue she answers his question "A brain tumor."
​ He curses under his breath and says "Sorry."
​"You don't have to say 'sorry' every time." she says with a sympathy smile.
​ He laughs a bit and then with a grimace he asks her "People have told you that word many times right?" she gives him a small nod.
He sighs and continues "I guess you hate that word... or maybe not the word, maybe you hate the way they say it. Like they don't mean it, like they say it to make you feel better or because they feel sorry for you when you know that they are so glad they are not on your shoes and you feel so tiny, like nothing that you do or nothing that you say will make it disappear or make the time go back and change things that could've done a difference in the future.
You feel that you want to be alone and you grief maybe for a long time or for two days and then you realize that you don't want to be alone, you convince yourself that you want to be alone, but you realize you want to be with someone and that someone isn't here."
They've both stopped walking and Adam is looking at the floor re-living some moments and Kara realizes that's true, she wants to be with Austin because he was the one that cheer-her-up when she was feeling down, a tear came down on her face, but a smile too. Because for once in a long time someone understood her and said the exact words she needed to hear.
​ But then she thinks the only way he could get her so perfect is if he has lost someone too. So she asks "Did you lost someone?"
​"Who hasn't lost someone?" he asks with a small glance avoiding Kara's question and then they continue walking.
"Are you coming to Jorge's party?" he asks changing the subject.
​"Yes, is kind of an obligation." she rolls her eyes just thinking about the boarding school idea.
​"Why?" he asks confuse and Kara explains to him about her parents idea of the boarding school and her plan for not letting that happen.
​ "Huh, you got strict parents."
​ "I will not say strict, I will say insane."
​"Oh you know you love them."
​ "Not exactly, they are never for me. They weren't for me when Austin died... he was my boyfriend." her eyes went sad again.
​"Yeah I figure, but maybe they had a good excuse."
​ "They only have one excuse and that is that they were working."
​"And what do they work on?"
​ "A company that sells other companies or something like that, I never understood."
​They stay in silence for a while but then Kara talks again "Enough about me tell me something about you."
​ "What will you like to know?"
​"I don't know. Let's start with the basics. Do you have any brothers or sisters?"
​"No, just me." he says with a glance kinda sad.
​"Why did you move here?"
​He thinks about what to say without saying the entire truth "Ohm... I'm trying to start over."
​She frowns and asks "Why?"
​"Why not? Don't you ever wish to start over? Come to a place where anyone knows your history."
​ "What's your history?" she asks intrigue.
​"Hum-." he says, but he gets interrupted by Jenna who's coming out of the house "Kara!" she shouts.
​ "Jenna." she says as Jenna walks toward them "Jenna this is Adam, he is new in town. Adam this is Jenna my sister."
​They share a smile and then Jenna kept talking "What happened to you?" she points out her head.
"I felt of the bike, it's nothing." she assures her sister.
​ "Mike is worry you should get in."
​ "I'll be right there, just give me a minute." Kara says and Jenna nods and goes back inside the house.
​"We'll continue this conversation later, all right?" she asks Adam and he nods and says "Yeah sure, at Jorge's party?"
​ "Okay and thanks for everything."
​"Not a problem." he says and walks away.
Kara enters to her house and sees both of her brothers waiting for her and she knows that is because of Adam so she says something before they asks hundreds of questions "He is new in town. I met him at the Lake and if you are wondering why he brought me home is because when I fell off the bike I casually fall in front of his house and he saw me and helped me. Does that cover every question you have?" Neither of them says anything, so she goes to her room before they ask something.
​ In her room she thinks about Adam, how he was such a gentleman by walking her to her house, how incredibly amazing his eyes where, how strong he is, how good looking he is and what could his history be.
'What could be so bad that he came here??' She thinks 'maybe he lost someone important to him... because the way he talked about how it felt losing someone was so real and so similar of how I feel that the only way he knows it and feels like that is because he lost someone too.'
​ Her thoughts get interrupted when Jenna knocks her door and she lets her in "We are going for some ice cream. Do you want to come?" Jenna asks her and she nods.
