​After two long days with her mother Kara survived. It is Wednesday and as normal her mother was freaking out, checking that every little last detail was perfect before the party started.
       ​Kara hasn't seen Adam since Sunday night, but they had talked every day. Adam's dad wasn't home when he got to his house, which was a big relief for him. Adam said that his father left a note that said "I'm sorry for what I put you thru son. I hope you'll forgive me someday." Adam was mad about the note he couldn't believe that he's father was asking for forgiveness, but since then they hadn't talk about his father or anything related to it.
       ​Kara is excited to see Adam. She knows it's been three days since the last time she saw him, but it felt like forever for her. She is eager to see him. She is also nervous about the fact he will meet her crazy family. Mike is impatient to meet him and Jenna is Jenna, she isn't anxious or impatient she's just glad that Kara moved on.
       ​'Now that I think... Mom and dad don't know Adam's coming. Well maybe Jenna or Mike told them... Why am I caring about them? I don't have to care about them! They can meet Adam if they want too, but the opinions I cared on hearing are Mike's and Jenna's'
       ​Someone knocks on the door interrupting Kara's thought and she says "C'mon in."
       "Kara, are you ready?" Jenna asks before entering the room.
       ​"Almost." Kara says grabbing her black high heels and sitting down in her bed to put them on.
​       "Hurry! Mom will have a panic attack."
       ​"I don't get what's the big deal with her and this party." she stands up almost falling.
       She straights her dress and looks one last time at her reflection in the mirror and says "Ready." she walks as straight as she can and Jenna stops her saying "Don't forget your purse."
​       Kara grabs it from her table and says "This-." she points at the purse "doesn't counts as a purse, it's absurdly small." and it is. She has her phone and the keys of her car and house because she couldn't put anything else in it.
       ​"It's fashionably small, and it combines with your dress." Jenna was part true. The purse combines with Kara's dress. The purse is coral with a design of small roses and the dress is turquoise it's attached to her waist and it's loose on the bottom. It has a thin golden belt, and it gets above her knees. She also is wearing a black long-sleeved jacket that reaches to her waist just above the belt.
​       But Kara would not let her sister win, so she shakes her head and says "Oh right, like 'fashionably small' is a thing." Jenna rolls her eyes and shoves her in the arm "Shut up, mom is waiting."
​       They both go down the stairs and they see their mother talking on a hands-free and Mike talking to a girl who either Kara or Jenna knows.
​       When Mike sees her two sisters coming down he says "Finally. Jenna, Kara I'll like you to meet Annabel." he points at the brunette girl that is standing behind him "Annabel my two sisters, Kara and Jenna." the girl come closer and hugs both of them and says "I've been waiting a long time to meet you both. Mike talks so much about both of you I feel like I already know you."
​       "Oh, thanks." Kara says looking at Jenna to see if she has a clue of who this girl is and Jenna shrugs and asks "So how did you two met?"
       "We've history class together at college." Mike answers.
​       "Oh, that's nice." Jenna says. Kara and Jenna are still trying to figure out if Annabel is Mike's girlfriend or a friend.
       ​"Mom is dad already there?" Mike asks to her mother that is standing behind her sisters.
       ​"Yes, he told me he arrived, and that everything looks good. But you know your father, for what to him is good for me is a disaster so I should get going." her mother says grabbing the keys of her car and before going out of the house she says "Please don't be late. I want you there in fifteen minutes. Okay?"
       ​"Okay." Jenna, Kara and Mike say simultaneously and her mother closes the door.
       ​"If I had fifteen minutes spared, what was the hurry?" Kara asks to Mike and Jenna and they both shrug "You know how she is with this." Jenna says.
       ​"Well, I'll go to my house and then I'll see you at the party." Annabel says to Mike, and he kisses her.
       When Annabel walks out of the house Jenna asks "So she's your girlfriend?"
       ​"Yeah." he admits.
       ​"Since when?" Kara asks.
       ​"Two months or so."
       ​"Two months? Wait, why didn't you tell us?" Kara asks
       ​"Because... with everything that happened, telling you I had a girlfriend didn't seem right."
       ​"And why didn't you tell me?" Jenna asks angry.
​       "Because you'll have told Kara." he points out and Jenna knows that that's true.
       ​"Still, Mike you should have told us. I wouldn't have cared. I'm glad for you."
       ​"Thanks, she was excited to meet you two." he says with a smile.
       ​"So the both of you have someone to go to this party and I don't... oh god this will be boring." Jenna says.
       ​"You're so melodramatic... You've mom." Mike says laughing and Kara laughs too, but Jenna rolls her eyes and says "So funny. Ha-ha-ha."
       ​"Wasn't the guy you liked coming?" Mike asks
​       "Erik?" he nods "No, he is in Washington." she says disappointed.
​       "We'll try not to leave you alone." Kara says trying to cheer her up.
       ​"I can see myself sitting next to mom hearing her talk about whatever she talks about with people." the three of them laugh.

       ​People have started too arrived. The band was starting to sing. The food was ready. Everything looked like every year. The difference is that this year the colors are white and light-green. But the decorations are the same just in a different color.
​       Kara is sitting with her brother, Annabel and her sister. They are talking about college but Kara isn't paying attention. Her mind is thinking about Adam, he hasn't arrived yet. He said that he was on his way. But she is thinking about him. She wants to see him so bad.
       ​"So Kara, your brother told me you're graduating this year." Annabel says trying to involve Kara in the conversation.
       ​"Oh, um, yes."
​       "Do you know where you want to go?" she asks.
       ​"Ohm, no. I'm still trying to decide what my major will be and then I'll search for colleges." she admits, and this is something that either Mike or Jenna knows. When they asked Kara about college she said that she was searching for colleges. Not that they had been talking a lot about college this summer. But that subject didn't come once before Austin died.
       ​"You still don't know what are you planning to do?" Mike asks surprise.
       ​"No." she says and she can see the shock expressions on her brother's and sister's face so she adds "The plan was to figure that this summer, but... I didn't."
       ​"Don't worry. Sometimes is like that. For some people is harder to figure out that. It's a big step and you have to be sure what you will do. I'm sure you will figure it out. You've plenty of time." Annabel says trying to cheer Kara up.
       ​"Yeah, I guess you're right." she says giving Annabel a smile.
       ​"Oh, Dad." Mike shouts and their father turns around and walks toward their table "Hello everyone." his father said.
​       "Hey dad." Kara says.
       ​"Sweetheart." he says to Kara and gives her a kiss on her head and then he turns his attention to Jenna and asks her "Jenna how was New York?"
       ​"It was fine dad." Jenna says annoyed.
       ​"I'm glad." he says but Jenna knows he isn't glad.
       ​Mike stands up and says "Dad I'll like you to meet my girlfriend. Annabel my dad." Annabel stands up and says extending her hand "It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Morgan."
​       His father shakes Annabel's hand and says "Please call me Joseph." Annabel glances at him.
       ​"Joseph, Connie is looking for you." their mother shouts and their father says "I'll see you guys later. It was a pleasure to meet you Annabel." then he goes to where Margaret is.
​Kara's phones rings, and she checks it and it is a text from Adam that says "Here" She jumps off of the chair and says exited "Adam is in the entrance. I'll look for him."
       ​She walks to the entrance with an ear-to-ear smile. Her heart is beating hard, and she's shaking.
       She sees him standing in the entrance with a smile and when their eyes meet she runs toward him and kisses him so hard that it almost hurt but she didn't care. She missed him.
       ​"Hey to you too." he says with a grin and Kara laughs and kisses him again this time more soft. After a while she breaks off the kiss and tells him "I missed you." he puts his hands around her waist and with a goofy smile he says "I missed you too. It didn't felt like three days right?"
       ​She shakes her head and says "Not at all." this time he kisses her and she breaks off the kiss again and grabs his hand and says "C'mon my family is waiting for you."
       ​They start to walk when Adam looks at Kara and then he looks at how she's dress and he says "You look... amazing."
       ​She nudges him and says "Oh, yeah right."
​       "I'm serious. You really look amazing." She tries not to smile, but it was impossible that comment made her happy.
       "You're the one who looks incredibly handsome." she tells him because she loves how he looks on a suit. He looks so different of how he looks normally.
       ​"You like how I look on a suit huh?" he asks with a grin.
       ​"Oh yeah, definitely." she says and kisses him on the cheek.
​       They walk toward the table where her brother and sister were, but when they got there Jenna was the only one sitting there.
       ​"Jenna you know Adam-." Kara says to Jenna, and she stands up and then she looks at Adam and says "Adam you remember Jenna, my sister."
       ​"Is good to see you again." Jenna says and Kara sits where she was sitting before and Adam sits beside her.
       ​"Where are Mike and Annabel?" Kara asks Jenna and she answers "They went to get something to drink." she gets closer to Kara and whispers "You came in the perfect timing because mom was inviting me to meet some people." Kara laughs and rolls her eyes and then Jenna looks at Adam and asks "So you're new in town?"
       ​"Yes, just came here two months ago."
       ​"Why did you move here?" Jenna asks and Kara could see that Adam tensed up because of that question. She puts her hand in top of his and then he says "Because of my dad's job." Jenna nods and Kara lets out a breath she didn't know she was holding. 'If Jenna knew the importance of that answer' she thinks and then sees Anna talking to her mother 'Crap, crappity, crap, crap. I forgot completely about Anna. With everything that happened with Adam's dad. My mom being so stressed out and the idea of Mike not liking Adam I forgot that Anna was coming to this party'
       ​"Oh, there comes Mike." Jenna says and Kara and Adam stand-up.
       ​"Mike this is Adam, my boyfriend. Adam this is Mike, my brother and his girlfriend Annabel." Adam shakes Mike hands and glances at Annabel "It's nice to meet you."
       ​"Right back at you." Mike says and Kara gives him a please-be-nice look.
       They sit down and Mike says "So Kara told me you liked basket." Kara's eyes went wide open when she heard Mike saying that, because she never told him that Adam liked basket. 'He most have heard me talking to Adrianna or Jorge'
       "Yes, I've been playing it since I could walk." he says.
       "Cool, what's your favorite team?"
       "Miami Heat."
       "Really? I think I might like you." Mike says with a smile and then Kara says "I didn't know that you like Miami Hits." Jenna lets a small laugh and says "I didn't know that you like basketball at all."
       "That's because when I talk about sports you two disappear." they laugh and then they start to talk about basketball and Kara thinks about Anna 'Should I tell her that Adam is my boyfriend? I should. I mean there's no bad in that. Is it? It's not a big deal or well I think it's not. Maybe for her it is. Where is she anyway?' she looks for Anna but she can't see her. She doesn't see her mother either. She turns her head around to see if she sees them and she does. She sees Anna talking to her mother and father and then Anna notices Kara and waves at her. Kara just waves back and thinks 'Please don't come. Please don't come. Please don't come' and she does. Anna walks toward their table and immediately Kara turns her head and tries to pay attention to the conversation they are having but she can't. Her heart beats out of her chest and she's pale.
       "Is something wrong?" Mike asks Kara, but she doesn't hear him. Adam turns to see Kara and he squeezes her hand and says "Kara, are you okay?" this time she hears it and slowly she nods and says "Um, yeah, fine." nobody seems convince by that but before anyone could say something Anna says from behind Kara "Hello."
       "Anna, hey." Jenna says and looks at Kara, she gives her an its-gonna-be-okay look and then stands up and hugs Anna "Jenna darling how are you?"
       "I'm doing fine, is so nice to see you here."
       "Just came to help your mother with party. You know she gets a bit crazy."
       Kara closes her eyes and swallows hard before turning her head around. She stands up and faces Anna "Anna hi."
       "Kara sweetheart, I'm always glad to see you." she says and hugs Kara "Me too." Kara looks down at Adam and then back at Anna "This is my boyfriend Adam. Adam this is Anna my mother's best friend." she says and Anna glances toward Adam "Boyfriend huh? I'm glad sweetheart. And Austin will be too, I'm sure." Kara lets out the breath she was holding on. Her eyes get full of tears. She doesn't know how much those words mean to Kara "Thanks."
       She wipes the tears out of Kara's face and says "Don't be." she whispers to Kara and then she looks at everyone else at the table "Well, I'll go now. Pleasure to meet you Adam."
       "That was...?" Adam starts saying and Kara nods "That was Austin's mother."
       "You okay?" he asks worry, but she nods "Yeah, I'm now." he grabs her hand and she glances back at him.
       Knowing she has Anna's approval means a lot to Kara because it is like she has Austin's approval somehow.
       "Can I talk to you for a second?" Margaret says and Kara stands up and says "Mom this is Adam my boyfriend."
       Her mother looks down at Adam and says "Hello." And then she looks back at Kara "Can I talk to you?" Kara takes a deep breath and looks at Adam with an apologetic smile and says "I'll be right back."
       They walk until they were far enough from the table so they couldn't hear them.
       "What were you thinking?" her mother asks whispering and mad.
       "About what?" Kara asks confuse not knowing what the problem that her mother has now is.
       "Bringing him here." she points to Adam.
       "He's my boyfriend. I see nothing wrong." Kara protests and now she's upset that her mother thinks bringing Adam was a mistake.
       "You don't? You knew Anna was coming, and you didn't think it was wrong to bring that boy here?" they way her mother says "that boy." irritates Kara more. She says it like he has something wrong so she says "That guy's name is Adam mom."
       "I don't care what his name is!" she raises her voice and takes a deep breath to calm down and then she says "It was disrespectful of you to had bring him here."
       "It's not disrespectful at all! It isn't like I can be with Austin anymore." she can't believe her mother. She is mad. She is more than mad and she will not make this discussion easy. This is her chance to tell her mother everything she feels, so she says "Don't you think I get to move on with someone else?"
       "I think you get the right to move darling, but with that guy?" again she says "that guy."​ "He's name is Adam!!! And what's wrong with him?"
       "He's just... not who I picture you with." her mother says trying to calm Kara down but she made it worst.
       "You mean he's not rich right?" she looks at her mother angry and she can see all over her face that that was what she meant so she continues "You know I don't care about that right?" she says trying to keep her voice calm but she is so angry now, so before her mother could answer that question she says "And besides you don't get a say in this."
       "I'm your mother, I get a say in this." she protests but Kara laughs and says "You can't be my mother whenever it pleases you. Because a real mother would have been all summer with her daughter when her boyfriend died." once she told her mother she felt relieve. She has wanted to say that to her for a long time, but she never did. And now she felt good.
       "I tried to be there for you Kara but-." she cuts her mother off because she knows what comes next "Yeah I know. You had to work." she rolls her eyes.
       She is so mad. She wants to scream, to cry. She wants to get out of here so she says "You know what? This is your party not mine. I'm out of here." she says turning around and walking away and then she hears her mother's mom saying "You can't leave." she doesn't stops or face her mother she screams "Watch me!"
       She walks away. She hears Mike's and Jenna's voice screaming her name but she doesn't care. Right now she wants to leave. She can't think about another thing. She doesn't wants to face her mother. She wants to be some place that isn't here or her house. She's thinking on going to her spot in the mountain when someone grabs her arm to stop her and she turns around to see Adam standing and before he could ask her anything she cries "Hey, hey. What's wrong?" she can't find her words, she just cries "What happened back there?" he asks wiping the tears out of her face.
       "I... she... I want to leave." she says and Adam nods.
       He puts his arm around her waist and says "I'll take you." she is going to protest but Adam says "You can't drive being this upset." she knows he's right, so she nods and they walk toward his car saying nothing else.
       ​When they are both sitting in the car Adam asks "Where do you wanna go?" she shrugs and says "I don't know. I want to go out of here."
​       "Do you want to go to your house?" She shakes her head and says "No. I don't want to face my mom today. Can we go to your house?"
       ​"Of course."
