After being with Adam all morning and almost all afternoon, Adam dropped Kara at her house. After he left in his car she stood outside the door of her house thinking what is waiting her inside. When she puts her hand on the door handle she takes a deep breath and opens the door. She checks the living room, the dining room and the kitchen and no one was there. She shouts a few times Mike's and Jenna's names, but no one answered. It is quite, too quite to be real.
She knows Mike and Jenna had to be waiting for her in some part of the house. They will not leave the house before she came home. She knows her brother and sister too well.
She goes downstairs to the backyard, and she hears voices, one is from her mother and the other one sounds familiar to Kara but she can't recognize it.
When she opens the door that leads to the backyard she sees Margaret and a woman sitting in front of him. Her mother's eyes meet Kara's, and she smiles at her "Oh you are home." she says surprise and then her eyes go to the woman in front of her and she glances at her "Anna, thoughtfully, came to help me with the details of the party I'm having on Wednesday... in case you forgot."
'ANNA? Please tell me it is not the Anna I'm thinking of!! Please tell me it isn't Austin's mother!!' Kara panics and she stays quite for a minute and hakes her thoughts away and says "I haven't forgotten mother. It is every year the same day. It's like a holiday, just it isn't fun." Margaret gave Kara a killer look that didn't bother Kara at all and then she sees Anna standing up.
She turns her face to see Kara, and she gets off the chair and runs to Kara and hugs her "I'm so glad to see you... and to know that you're going out."
Kara said nothing she freezes. She hasn't seen Anna since the day they went to Spain and she hasn't talk to her since the day Austin die. She has always been good to Kara, but the fact she was kissing another guy made her feel guilty.
She fakes a smile and says "I'm glad to see you too."
She looks at her mother wondering what she had told her 'Did she tell her I was out with a GUY on a DATE? I hope no. I don't know what I could even say to her if she knew... she had to imagine that someday I had to move on and be with someone else, but God I hope she doesn't knows right now... oh crap she will know at the party!! How did I didn't see this? Oh I will not talk about my private life with the mother of my dead-ex-boyfriend, that's creepy and so awkward. Maybe she doesn't ask and....WHO AM I KIDDING? This is Anna and my mom I'm talking. They had been friends since forever, my mom told her. God she needs an award for the "Gossipiest Woman on Earth."
I will not be piss off with my mom because of this; it's worthless to waste my energy in her and her gossiping problems. And I will not worry about the fact that Anna may or may not, but more realistically may, know about Adam. It isn't like a bad thing they ask questions. I'm overreacting like I always do. I mean, Adam is an excellent guy, he is so handsome and sweet... and a really good kisser... oh that kiss was so mind blowing. It's not like I have tons of experience in kissing. I can count the guys I have kissed with one hand, they are three. But none of those other two kisses were like this one, not even all the kisses I had with Austin were remotely like this kiss with Adam. Maybe it was because I was so freaking nervous that it was funny, God I was shaking when he warned me he would kiss me, I couldn't form words and I'm so glad I nodded 'cause that kiss. I mean I regret none part of it. And it wasn't like the one he gave me drunk because, (a) I didn't kiss him back nor wanted to kiss him and (b) he was drunk. But in this one he wasn't drunk, and I wanted to kiss him and I kissed him back'
Kara sees her mother and notices the annoyed face she has "Are you listening?" she asks her trying to get her attention.
Kara nods even though she wasn't listening she was lost in her thoughts "Well I should get going... so great to see you two." Anna says and glances at both of them and walks away.
"You weren't listening were you?" her mother asks when Anna was going upstairs and she couldn't hear them.
"Not really." she admits.
"How was your date with the guy?" her mother asks like she has made a huge mistake going out with Adam.
She rolls her eyes and says "His name is Adam. And it went great, not like you care anyway."
"I care who my daughter is dating." Margaret says making emphasis on the word "my."
Kara doesn't want to ruin what has been the perfect day in a long time discussing with her mother so she changes the subject "What is Anna doing here? I thought she was in Spain."
"She told me she came for two reasons: to help me plan the party like she always does and she told me that since Austin is gone she has no one here and she prefers being with the only family she has left... also her company is coming down, not that she mentioned that but I know it."
"Of course you do." she whispers low enough so her mother can't hear it "When is she going back to Spain?"
"On Friday."
'So she will be at party. She will see Adam. I...' her thoughts gets interrupted when she hears her phone ringing.
"I'll go now." her mother says and walks away.
She sees is Lucas calling, and she answers "Hey." she says and hears music and people talking loud around him.
Her first thought is that he is drunk and in a party but when she heard him saying "Hey, how are you?" she knew that he isn't drunk because he didn't sound like he was drunk but he is on a party. She checks her watch and sees it is just 3:45pm and thinks 'who is in a party at this time of the day?'
"Shut up Miranda I'm talking with Kara." she hears him saying to someone else and they talk about something Kara doesn't knows so she says "I'm good but... um you sound busy, what do you need?"
After a few seconds he says "So do you know the amusement park that opens some years here?" She nods and says "Yep."
"It's opening this year. They are checking the last details today and tomorrow they are opening it. So I was wondering-." he stops talking and Kara hears whispers from a girl and then Lucas yells "Upstairs? Fuck." after a few seconds of silence Kara talks "I will go to the amusement park tomorrow, I'll bring Adam... it's... um his birthday and well he has never had a birthday party before so this one will be great. Take care of whatever is going on."
"You're the best. It's just Olivia and... I'll tell you later. Bye." he hung up before Kara could answer.
"Going out with Adam again?" she hears someone saying in her back and without turning around she knows that Mike is standing behind her. She takes the courage to turn around and see her brother in the eyes and nods. "This time you would vanish again or were you planning on giving me a heads-up?"
"Don't be like that. I explained to you I didn't wanted to explain mom my relationship with Adam, I didn't vanish because of you."
"Your relationship... So are you two already a thing?"
"No, a thing that isn't official yet. I think."
"Is he coming on Wednesday?"
She rolls her eyes and says "Yes Mike he's coming."
Mike opens his mouth to say something else, but he gets interrupt by Jenna "Can you give Kara a break? God sometimes you stress me."
She walks toward them and Mike turns his head and tells Jenna "I'm just asking if he was coming on Wednesday." She puts her arm on Mike's shoulder and says "Mom is looking for you." saying nothing else Mike goes upstairs. 
When he reaches the stairs Kara murmurs "Thanks."
"Oh, don't worry. I know how he can be, sometimes he needs someone to stop him." they both laugh "But-." Jenna sits down on the chair and continues "I want to know how the date went."
Before saying anything Kara sits in front of her "We kissed." it's the only thing that came out of her mouth. Jenna lets out a laugh and says "I supposed you were going to."
Kara got surprise by that 'How is it possible that my sister knew we would kiss and I didn't?'
Jenna laughs again at Kara's expression and says "Don't act so surprise... for God's sake Kara the boy came running when you were crying and stayed here all night even after hearing Mike screaming like a crazy person. He likes you and you like him. So it is just doing the math sis."
"I didn't knew Mike screamed last night." she says surprise.
"Oh like crazy, but Adam said that he didn't wanted for you to wake up and continue crying- which remembers me... what were you crying?"
"I don't even know anymore. Mike told me about the party and I remembered that Austin always came with me, then I saw the photo I have with him in my table and I cried. Adam called me in that moment and realized I was crying so he came." she says smiling remembering how thoughtful Adam was by coming and now she knows that her brother pulled up a show because of him and he stayed makes Kara happier.
"So are you two like in a relationship?" Jenna asks snapping her out of her thoughts.
"I don't know what we are." she frowns "I know he wants to be with me and he knows that I want to be with him, but we said nothing about being exclusive and I don't know if I want us to be something so soon. Although I will see him tomorrow... it's his birthday and Lucas invited me to go to the amusement park and I'm taking Adam. I guess we can talk there."
"Or you could go in the afternoon to his house and surprise him. You can have some alone time to talk about that and then go to the amusement park later."
"I like that plan." she says with a smile.
"It's my plan, of course you like it." Kara rolls her eyes and Jenna laughs "But you have to get your thoughts straight. I don't think is a bad idea for you two to become something, he cares a lot about you and since Adam came you are happier I can see you are smiling like really smiling and you are being you again." She stands up and says "I'll tell Mike tomorrow you went with your friends and Adam for a bite and then to the amusement park."
"You are the best. Thank you."
"Not a problem... but hey we have to go shopping for a dress and shoes for Wednesday."
"Right, we'll go on Monday?"
"Sure and Tuesday is hair and nails day... with mom so be prepare for that too."
"I can't wait!!" she says rolling her eyes.
       Jenna walks away but Kara stops her "Anna is here and she's coming to mom's party on Wednesday." Jenna turns, and she looks at Kara trying to figure out if she is happy or sad "I don't know what I should think. I mean she is still Austin's mom and I feel bad I'm bringing Adam... you know. Austin always came with me. But I also want Adam to come."
She takes steps toward her sister and says "I don't think you have to worry about her."
"Really?" she asks doubtful.
"Yeah, you are not doing anything wrong. You have every right to move on and be with someone else. And besides Anna loves you like the daughter she never had, I'm sure she will be thrill to see you happy again."
"Yeah, I guess you're right."
"I'm always right."
"Where were you and Mike anyway? When I came home I called both of you but neither of you answer."
"In my room, I was trying to calm him down so I put on a movie and close the door. But since I've got a balcony that leads to the backyard he came down like crazy when he heard your voice before I even noticed it."
Kara's phone rings again and sees it is Adrianna calling "I should get this."
"Sure. I'll be upstairs."
She answers the call and says "Hey Adrianna, what's up?"
"Did Lucas call you earlier?"
"Yes, to ask me to go to the amusement park."
"And are you going?"
"Yes, and I'm taking Adam too. Why?"
"Just wanted to make sure you would not leave me with Lucas and Olivia alone... wait, Adam? The hot guy?"
"Yeah."
"Are you two dating?"
"Not officially."
"What?? So that means I'm the only one that will be alone." she says in an angry tone.
"I can tell Jorge to come."
"Bite me." Kara laughs and says "He had always a crush on you and you had one on him."
"Mm, he doesn't, and I didn't. Besides he's a player and I'm done with that kind of guys."
"So do I invite Caroline?"
"NO!! I like her, but God she gossips like she's on Gossip Girl. And you know I don't like gossips."
"You are so picky with these things."
"Ugh, whatever I will come alone and mine while you and Adam kiss and so as Lucas and Olivia." she says disgust.
"You are exaggerating."
"I'm not!!"
"If you say so... so Adam's birthday is tomorrow and I've no idea in what I can give him."
"What does he likes?"
"Basketball."
"Then give him a basketball ball."
"He's not eleven."
"Okay give him tickets to a game."
"What game?"
"Howiamsupposetoknow?"
"You're so helpful." she says sarcastically.
"Hey I gave you an idea. Now you have to evolve it."
"Great. Thanks."
"Al right then, I'll see you tomorrow." Adrianna says and hangs up.
Kara goes upstairs to her room and grabs her laptop and sits in her bed. She searches to see if Mountain West has a basketball team, but they don't so she searches for a basketball court near Mountain West and founds one that is thirty minutes away from there. She looks for the upcoming games and she knows none of the teams and she doesn't know what Adam's favorite basketball team is. She grabs her phone and thinks in calling Adam and asking him, but that will be too obvious and she wants it to be a surprise.
So she ends up calling Jorge because, (a) he knows about basketball and (b) he knows Adam. After two rings he picks it up "I wasn't expecting your call. Should I be worry?" he asks concern.
"No. I wanted to ask you something."
"Okay, what's up?"
"Do you know what Adam's favorite basketball team is?"
"Miami Heat, why?" he asks curious.
"I wanted to buy him tickets for a basketball game, for his birthday." she explains him.
"His birthday?"
"Yep, it is tomorrow."
"He didn't tell me."
"He doesn't celebrate his birthday."
"Oh, are you doing something?"
"Yes, we are going to the amusement park tomorrow. You should come." she says knowing that if Adriana was here she will have strangled Kara.
"I don't know. Being with you two love-birds doesn't sound appealing." he jokes.
"Adrianna, Lucas and Olivia are coming too."
"Huh." he says and starts to re-consider if he should go.
"You like Adrianna right?"
"No!!" he says defensive.
"Whatever, thanks for the help."
"Sure. How did your date go?"
"How did you know we had a date?"
"I called him yesterday to invite him to play with me and the guys' basket today, but he told me he had a date. He didn't say with whom but I knew it was with you."
"It went well."
"You like him, don't you?"
"Yes... see is easy to admit that you like someone."
"Ha Ha, funny but he likes you too, and he is a nice guy."
"I know."
"Well, I'll see you."
"Tomorrow?"
"Maybe, I don't know."
"Text me when you do."
"Okay." she hangs up and goes back to her laptop.
She looks for the Miami Heat games and finds one on August 18. It is the closest game, and in the court that is thirty minutes away. She buys two tickets. She isn't counting on him to invite her, although it will be awesome, she knows that he can invite whoever he wants to invite.
She prints the tickets and puts them in an envelope.
'Tomorrow I'll give this to Adam and we'll talk about... us, I guess. And also about the fact that Austin's mother is coming to the party because if it is awkward for me it has to be a million time worse for Adam, so maybe he decides not to come because it will be strange and I have to be okay with that because I want to skip this lame party too. I can't blame him if he decides not to go... but God I don't want to be alone in that party and... SELFISH, I'm being selfish. I can't be selfish. If he doesn't want to come it will be fine. And if he stills wants to come I have to prepare myself to introduce him to my crazy family but also to Austin's mother.
This couldn't be more awkward. I have such a terrible luck... I don't think Anna will be hurt if I show up with Adam, because it's not like this would not happen. She had to figure out that this will have happened sooner or later. But my mother, oh gosh she can arm a show if she doesn't likes Adam. She will let me and him know that she doesn't like him... why am I caring about my mother's opinion? No, I shouldn't care about my mother's opinion... oh and my dad's neither. Well, I shouldn't care about his opinion either. I care in what Mike and Jenna have to say. Jenna seems to already like him, but Mike... not so sure about that. And after he slept last night in my house and I run with him today... Yep Mike will be hard.
I have never had to introduce someone I like to my family. I had one boyfriend, and that was Austin. My family knew Austin, and they were expecting it to happen. So this family-meet-the-boy-I-like is new and awkward for me'
