Five

Hey! Welcome to Chapter Five of, "Stay Together". I hope you've enjoyed reading it so far!

Ice-cream run. It was Lynn and Hazel's favorite errand to do after school. Now, that might sound a bit confusing. Why would someone give these two an after-school errand to collect ice cream? Well, a detail that hasn't been mentioned yet is that they only get two ice-creams, and only on Mondays. The girls had been doing it since seventh grade. Their mothers one day decided to drive the two to their little local ice cream shop, "Ice Cream Four You!" after they had both aced their math tests. The shop was named after it's famous tendency to give you four scoops instead of one, two, or three. After that, every day the girls would beg their mothers to take them again. In hopes to stop the children from bugging them, the mothers made a decision that Mondays would be the day to go. They went when it was raining, snowing, sunny, cloudy, any weather really. It became a tradition the girls refused to let die, even to this day.

As the girls pulled up to the small, box-like building, Hazel couldn't stop laughing. During the entire car ride every loud noise, quiet noise, fast movement, slow movement, just about anything, would cause Lynn to twist around in her seat to see what it was. She was still rambling on and on about her paranoia about being watched, no matter how many times Hazel told her no one was there. As they stepped out of the car and made there way over to the ice-cream counter, Lynn saw millions of memories of the place flash through her head. The Ice-Cream place was extremely small, with the only seating area being located outside. The girls had, at one point in their lives, sat at every single table the owners of the shop had set out. That meaning, there was a memory attached to every single one of those tables. This was where the girls had studied, gossiped, laughed, fought, and did a lot of their talking. Even though the girls had discovered it a year after becoming best friends, it was almost like the birthplace of their friendship.

"Lynn. Earth to Lynn... LYNN," Hazel snapped Lynn out of her daydream trance as she stared at her in slight annoyance. "He'd like to know what you want your ice-cream to be."

"Oh, sorry," Lynn rubbed her forehead, "I'd like two scoops of fudge brownie, and two scoops of cookies and cream, please. Oh! And chocolate sauce on top."

The ice-cream man chuckled to himself as he set out to make the two girls ice-creams. "Lynn," Hazel began, " I will never understand your undying love for anything chocolate."

Lynn laughed at her friend and was about to reply when she heard some boys calling to them from over her shoulder.

"Ay, mama! I'd tap that if you know what I'm saying, aha," one of them said, his friends going along with it, laughing and calling more things out.

Lynn and Hazel looked over at each other making eye contact and exchanging their looks of pure annoyance. They were both pissed off but continued waiting for their ice-cream, ignoring the boys. That is until one of them decided they had the right to come over to the girls and grab Lynn's ass. Lynn gasped in utter shock, "You fucking asshole! Ho-"

Lynn was about to continue her speech and was ready to kick or smack the boy, or both, but as she turned around someone else beat her to the punch. Literally. Lynn looked down at her feet to see the suspected ass grabber pinned to the ground, trying to wrestle the guy on top of him off but failing as he received more and more punches. Lynn glanced up to see his gang of friends just watching, not knowing whether to help their friend or run away. She also noticed some smaller kids turning the corner, on their way to the same ice-cream shop they were currently at. Therefore, Lynn decided to make a decision.

"Ok, ok! That's enough! I think he gets it," when the guy didn't stop Lynn shook him on the shoulder and sound louder, "I said stop!" The stranger stopped punching and got off the boy pulling him up by his collar.

"If I were you, I'd get up and run away, with your little friends, back home. And I better not see you doing anything like that again," the stranger growled menacingly. The boy nodded repeatedly as the stranger pushed him away towards his friends and the group ran off. He breathed in deeply, calming himself down, as he brushed off the dust on his pants.

"Thank you for-," Lynn began but stopped when the mystery rescuer looked up. Her brows furrowed and her mouth dropped open as she recognized the eyes staring back at her.

All of my chapeter seem to be turning out short, so there is a high chance of me going back through and changing some of the things that occur in each chapter, for length reasons.
