I sit on the bench at the pond with all the little duckies floating about.

Max is sitting beside me fidgeting with a piece of bread.

I threw some bread crumbs into the water and watched as the ducklings ate them up happily.

"Max. It's going to be so different without you. I mean I knew that we had to say goodbye at some point, but I thought it would be at the end of Summer when we both go back to where we belong."

Max took a deep breath and threw the piece of bread over his shoulder, it was to big for the duck to eat.

"And it's going to be so different without you. Not seeing your smile, your eyes, not hearing your laugh. Not seeing you." Max concluded his sentence.

I nodded my head and turned toward the ducklings, they were all swimming and diving for the remains of bread crumbs that were there.

"I didn't want to go to Dublin you know. I wanted to go somewhere local, but I didn't apply soon enough." Max popped a piece of bread in his mouth, chewed it up and swallowed it.

I giggled a little.

"Max!" I say.

"What?-" he giggles too. "-First of all its human food, second of all I stress eat."

"Surprising for such a fit guy like you." I tease.

"I don't stress eat all the time!" He laughed.

The laughing died down and I thought about reality once again. Max was going to Dublin and there was nothing I could do about it.

I moved closer to Max on the bench and put my head on his chest. Max wrapped his arms around me. His embrace was tight but relaxing.

I closed my eyes and enjoyed my last few moments of happiness with Max.
