Max's P.O.V~

I don't know what to do. If my heart lies in a different place, then I should follow it right? But Sugar's still with Jared and she's happy about it, the last thing I want to do is make Sugar upset or do something I'd regret.

I take a bite of my sandwich I made. Mom and dad were Christmas shopping so I had the house to myself; well I did have the house to myself, until I heard a knock on my door.

I opened it to see Lillian.
"Hey." I said not so enthusiastically.

"Hi!-" she walked in. "-So remember when I told you about my Secret Santa idea? Well I think we should all
do that."

"Sure." I say even though I don't really care.

"Great! Ok so I'm going to phone Sugar and tell her and-" I blocked her out. I couldn't see Sugar again! What was I thinking? What ever. It doesn't really matter because it's not like I'm going to bring up that topic right in the middle of something else.

We decided to do the Secret Santa thing at my house so everything was all set up. The names were all put in a bowl and in my room. I don't know why they had to be put in my room but that's what we decided.

Soon Sugar and Jared were over and we were about to do the draw.
"Ok so the draw is taking place upstairs in Max's room." She smiled and walked up the stairs.

Once we were all in my room, we closed the door and began. Lillian went first and when she drew hers she smirked. Next Jared drew his name and he laughed. After Sugar drew hers and smiled. It was my turn. I picked up the last little slip of paper. I couldn't believe it. The name on the last slip of paper is Sugar's. I pretended to laugh just so it wouldn't seem to obvious. But what should I get her?! It's going to be really hard.

"Ok everyone let's all head out and get our gifts!" Lillian said.

"Wait right now?" I asked.

"Well yeah." Lillian replied.

We all headed out to get our gifts. I'm glad we all came here in our own cars because to be honest, I didn't really want to carpool with Lillian today.

We all arrived at the mall and we went our separate ways. I still don't know what to get her. What does she like? Does she like soap? Lotion? Lip...stick? I have no idea! I used to but now it's too awkward.

I walk around the mall looking for ideas but nothing catches my eye. Then I get an idea. A necklace! A sea shell necklace! I could make it myself! It's nothing expensive or anything! It's perfect! And I think she'll really like it too.

I walk out of the mall and to my car. I start the engine and smile. I really hope she likes it.

I arrive at the beach and see lots of people there. This is going to take a while.

As I look around the sand, I found a fifty dollar bill! How lucky am I? Anyways I kept looking for a shell that Sugar would like. It was really hard though because there were so many broken shells and I was scared I wouldn't be able to find a whole one! But then, I saw it, the perfect shell! It was a clam shell which had a shiny pearl effect on the inside. It was about the size of my two thumbnails put together, it was beautiful.

I was excited to make this because I haven't made necklaces in a long time, not since I had to close down the sea shell shop.

Once I got home, I quickly washed the shell and then polished it up. Then I carefully drilled a hole in the shell with a fine drill bit, then I took some twin and threaded it through the tiny hole. I took out four sphere shaped wooden beads with a flower carving on each of them and put them on one side of the shell, I took another four beads and did the same with the other side. And now, I was all done my necklace and I think Sugar will love it.

I put it in a small jewellery box with the pendent facing up. I wrapped it and put a miniature bow on it and put it in my pocket.

We decided to give our gifts at Sugar's house so I carpooled with Lillian this time. We rang the doorbell and Jared answered it (of course) and we walked in. I saw Sugar sitting down holding a puppy.

"Oh when did you get the puppy?" I asked.

"Jared gave it to me for our anniversary." Sugar smiled slightly.

"Oh." My present's going to look like garbage compared to the puppy.

We all sat down and began to open each other's gifts. Lillian gave hers first.

"Here you go, Maxy." She smiled and gave her gift to me. I smiled to just to be polite.

I opened the gift to reveal socks.
"Thanks, Lillian." I say and smile at the same time.

Next Jared gave his gift.

"Ok, Lillian here you go." He laughs.

Lillian unwrapped hers quickly and saw that she got perfume.
"Perfume?" She laughs.

"What that's what every girl likes right?" He laughed.

Sugar gave her gift to Jared which was a new pair of expensive running shoes.

Next it was my turn. All of a sudden Sugar's face turned white and her smile faded. She realized she was the only one who hasn't received a gift yet and I was the only one who hasn't given one. She frowned a little when she looked at me which felt real nice.

"Here you go, Sugar." I handed her the box and smiled.

When she opened it her expression was not what I expected. She cupped her hand to her mouth as she took out the necklace. She looked at it for a bit and then put it back down. Then she quietly said.
"Thanks." I nodded and smiled.
