Max's P.O.V~

I decide to take a walk on the beach to let all the stress from previous days flood. It's not very relieving but it's not bad either.

I head to Scoopz. They have the best burgers there! But of course I have to walk by my old sea shell shack. I can't believe they haven't torn it down! I take a quick glance at it and regret it. The wood is wet and rotting, the stairs are broken and the whole roof has animals living in it. Despite the missing stairs, I take a step inside which was even more sad. The floor, had been broken through to the untouched sand. Wood chunks lay everywhere and the windows had fifty layers of grime.

"I can't look at this." I say and head off to Scoopz.

I sat at the bar stool and asked.
"Could I get a burger and a large fries?"

"Drink?" The blobby cook asked.

"Um sparkling grape juice." And that was just impulse. I thought back to the night at the bonfire...

"Omg, Max?!" I heard a familiar squeaky voice call. It was to familiar.

I turn around to see Lillian. She's changed in her appearance but her voice is still the same.

"Wow, Lillian!" I say trying to act surprised. When really I want to run, hide, scream.

"Wow your looking good!" Lillian looks me up and down.
"How's the doctor thing going?" She asked.

"Pretty good I'm on my Christmas break right now actually." The nervousness in my voice was growing. Of course when I'm around Lillian she thinks it's my normal voice because I'm always nervous around Lillian.

"Omg! So you seeing anyone?" Why can't she stop talking!

"Um...no I'm not." I said contemplating weather I should lie or not.

"So that means your, available?" She winks and smiles.

"Well I guess." What was I thinking! I could have said no I'm not into dating at the moment or sorry I have to go. But no! I have to say I'm available to a boy crazy girl!

"Well you wanna go out sometime?" Oh no think fast. Um... ... ...I got nothing.

"Sure, Lillian I'll go out with you." This time I make it blunt by rolling my eyes after I say that sentence but she's jumping up and down with her eyes closed.

"So where do you wanna go?" She asks.

"Um... The pizza place we went to?" I suggested.

"Perfect!" She squealed and I was sure I had hearing loss.

At the pizza place~

We sat down at the EXACT SAME table as last time. I felt quite scared because let's be blunt. I like Sugar. I still do. Ever since I saw her in the grocery store, I just couldn't stop thinking about her. Now I'm sitting here with a girl I don't even like. And then the idea dawns on me. I know this sounds bad but Lillian her supposedly sweet little self did it too! I'll use Lillian to make Sugar jealous! Perfect! Now all I have to do is bear through this long and drawn out session that only Lillian would call a date.

"-And then he ate it! Funny right?" I was to busy thinking when Lillian disturbed me.

"So funny!" I said.

"And here is your pizza! Enjoy!" The waiter brought a steaming hot plate of pizza over and placed it on the table.

"Thank you!" Lillian said. Here's my chance to make a move.

"You know, Lillian. Your so polite!" I rest my head on my fist and act like I'm lost for words.
"I don't even know how you can... I don't know your just so nice." I don't know if that's a compliment rather then a move but I'm getting some where because Lillian starts blushing like crazy.

"Wow what a gentleman!" She takes the napkin and starts fanning herself. I think it's a little dramatic but hey it's Lillian.

"And you know. You look really nice today." I slap myself for that one. I don't know what's with me but I can't flirt. Of course Lillian just about fell apart.

"Oh my gosh! Wow um... Wow!" Lillian starts hyperventilating which I think is the point where I need to stop. But it doesn't help when I reach for her hand to calm her down because with that, I think she full on fainted! I take a water glass and sprinkle cold water on her. She awakes and looks at me immediately.

"Max your so kind!" She brings me into a hug and I just about die of asphyxiation because of her tight grasp. When she releases me, I take a deep breath and continue.

"Okay. That was too much!" I say between pants.

"I'm sorry are you okay?" She puts her hand on my knee in concern. I look down and sure enough it's there. I feel exposed and not right "for Sugar!" I think.

"Yes I'm fine but I need to talk to you outside after we're done eating." And with that she snaps her fingers and says.

"Waiter! We'll have this packed up and I'll do debit please." She smiles and pars him on the cheek. She really means business!

After she finished paying, she takes me by the hand and pulls me out of the restaurant.

"So what did you want to tell me?" She asks.

Here it goes. If this doesn't kill me I don't know what will.
"Lillian I've been doing some awful hard thinking. I'm wondering if we should not get together."

"Oh really? Um your saying that we should be an item?" I nod my head painfully.
"Oh my gosh!" She says.
"Well yes I'm fine with that!" She leans up and kisses me, but it's not soulful as it is with Sugar.

"You wanna walk on the beach?" I suggest. As we get into my car.

"Ooo sure!" She squeals. That'll get annoying.

As we walked on the beach I heard a familiar laugh and smiled. It was Sugar. I guess Lillian must've heard it too because she said.
"Oh let's tell, Sugar to get it over with. I mean the history between you too goes way deep and I don't want anything to be awkward." Oh that would be awkward.

Sugar's laying down on a beach towel with whom I'm assuming is her boyfriend Jared.

"Hey, Sugar!" Lillian yells as we walk up to her hand in hand.

"Oh hey, Lillian. Hey, Max?" I wave slightly.

"So this may sound a little weird okay? So just brace yourself. Max and I are together! I'm with, Max now!" She claps her hands in excitement.

I see Sugar's reaction but I can't really read it.

"Oh?" She finally says.

"Yeah I hope your not weirded out." Lillian says.

"Weirded out?! Pfttt no I'm not weirded out. I'm really... happy for the two of you!" I plant a fake smile on my face and look at Lillian.

We say are goodbyes and walk away. I look down at Lillian who is smiling and then back at Sugar who's not anymore. And I wonder if it was worth doing.
