Chapter Two - Wakeup

Matt opened his eyes, seeing only darkness around him.

What the- He groaned. It hurt to even think at that moment. There was darkness all around, total pitch blackness.

What happened? Wh-where am I? He thought. The last thing he remembered was getting attacked, but what had happened?

He started to stand up, but instantly fell back down. What?

It took him a second, but he quickly realized that his hands and feet were tightly bound with rope.

He called out for help, but his mouth had already been covered with tape. He used his shoulder to scrape off the tape. He was about to call out again, but then he decided against it. his attacker might be around.

He first tried to untie the knots, but not only were they complicated, they were also impossible to see. After a few minuites, Matt got frustrated and started to just struggle against the ropes. Unfortunately, that made them all the more tighter.

Realizing his predicament, he had another idea. He slid along the wall, feeling with his hands for the doorknob. He finally felt it above his head, but when he tried to turn it, his wrist twisted and hurt too much.

He thought out his situation for a minute. He hadn't felt anything he could have cut the ropes with along the walls.

He had one more idea. It might not help him escape, but it might help explain what was going on. He pressed his ear to the door.

Nothing...
Nothing...
*Cough!*

"You should get that checked out." Said a man outside.

Matt let put a small gasp. There was someone outside!

"Dude, we don't have the funds anymore." The second man said.

"Hey, healthcare is important..."

"We kill people for a living. How does healthcare matter?"

"Well, we don't kill people for a living anymore."

Matt was confused. He had already figured that thease were the red room guys, but what were they talking about? We're they cancelling the Red Room? Why was he still alive?

"Hey, dude. I know that that guy turned us in and the police took us down, but we're gonna rebuild the red room stronger than ever!"

"Well, if that's the case, why don't we just take this guy and go online right now?!"

Matt clinched up.

"We're saving him for the grand reopening, remember? Once we get a few more victims, we can Marathon all night! Now granted, we lost some of our best guys, so it might take a while, but what really matters is the jerk who turned us in! We get him, and none of this will matter!"

"Are you kidding me? We stashed our ONLY victim with the storage! How is that not the bottom of the barrel!?"

"Hey, at least he's with a friend."

The first man sighed, annoyed. "Shut up."

"Got it."

Then they stopped talking. Suddenly, Matt noticed a strange smell. He made his way along the wall until he reached something in the corner. It was small, about the size of a human skull.

Mostly because it was a human skull.

He threw it away. Creeped out, he felt around. There turned out to be quite a few corpses in the corner. He checked out one of the less creepy feeling ones. He checked the pocket and found a pocket knife.

But then his hand hit something in the pockets. A pocket knife. Yes! He cut his ropes and stood up. Even though he could stand up, he had to feel along the wall though. Stuffing the pocket knife in his... Well, pocket, he sat by the door and waited for the guards to leave.
