Chapter 22 - Answers

2 hours before the man comes to attack Nate.

Thomas woke with a start. "What the-" He automatically noticed his hands were tied. Looking up, he noticed Matt staring at him. "Ah. I see. Any chance you could untie me?"

"I'm still mad at you." Matt said before turning around.

Jack stood at a table, staring at a set of medical supplies.

"Is that all you found?" Asked Matt.

"Seriously, there is nothing here." All I got was water, a syringe, and a bandage.

"Well, how are we going to survive?" Matt sighed. "Our only option now is to escape, but how can we do that?"

"Simple. We ask him." Jack pointed to Thomas.

"Because I'll just tell you." Thomas rolled his eyes at that.

"Well, I did luck in, and found a poison that they use on the streams." Jack stared at the syringe.

"You can't be suggesting..." Matt trailed off.

"It's the only way." Jack filled up the syringe with the poison and walked over to Thomas.

"What- who are you?!" Yelled Thomas.

"Im the guy that brought you down. Matt, help me out here. Hold his head." Jack motioned for Matt to come over. He went over to Thomas's side and held his head so that Thomas's neck was exposed.

Jack held the syringe up to Thomas's neck. "There must be some sort of exit that isn't guarded. Where is it?"

Thomas laughed. "Not telling."

"Fine. But Matt, exactly how painful is a poisoning?" Jack looked to Matt, looking slightly sinister.

"I don't know, depends on how fast acting it is." Matt looked at Thomas, the confidence fading from his eyes, and being replaced by fear.

"Really? Better hope that it's quick then." Jack moved the syringe closer to Thomas's neck.

"Okay! There's an exit on the other side! It opens up into a field! You can avoid security by using the vents." Thomas's breaths were long and shaky as Jack took the syringe away.

"Thanks!" He emptied the syringe. "Oh, but we can't have you tell someone." Jack pulled his arm back for a punch, but Matt stopped him.

"Don't. You shouldn't." He said.

"Why's that?" Asked Jack, confused.

"Because I want to." Matt threw a punch to Thomas's face, knocking him out.

"Good one. So, the vents?" Asked Jack.

"Sounds good. By the way, what poison was in the syringe?" Asked Matt.

"Oh, that?" Jack removed the panel from the vent. "Water. I was bluffing."
