i will wait a lifetime for you

. . .

"Hyeri, what the fu.ck are you doing in Kihyun's apartment?"

It's 7 in the morning and the first thing I heard was Jungkook's voice, reprimanding me over the phone.

"Did you really have to call this early for that?"

"I told Lizzy to stay with you. Not throw you like a fu.cking garbage on someone's place!"

I stood on my feet and washed my face in the bathroom. I left my phone on loud speaker, over my night table, while I took a bath. The sun may have heard him ranting endlessly, since it suddenly went dark. I have finished taking a shower, but he still goes on.

"Worried much? Why are you so mad?"

"I don't like him. Please date someone else, not him! Why won't you listen to me?"

"Because you never listened to me either. I have to go and eat breakfast. Say hi to Jin for me! Bye!"

When I walked outside my room, the aroma of pancakes put me into a state euphoria. A pretty face. A kind heart. A good cook. I may have stumbled into my future husband's house. Wait, what? What am I thinking?

"Hmm? Good morning!"

"Looks like we've got a chef here?" I walked towards him and embraced him from behind. It comforted me for a while, though I really wish it was Jungkook I was hugging right now. So I closed my eyes, and pretended like it.

"Why are you so sweet today? Did you eat ten jars of candies?" I felt his hand touch mine, as the other one flipped the pancakes. He soon laughed at his own humor, I almost forgot how cute he was. "So? Are you busy tonight?" he asked.

I untangled myself from him and stood on his side, my back leaned on the counter as I stole one of the pancakes he just prepared.

"No, why?"

"Do you know how to dance?"

"Are you asking me on a date?"

"Answer my question first, or I'll kiss you."

"Answer my question and I'll—" I was startled when he gave my lips a peck.

"Answer me," he insisted.

"I'll answer—" His lips met mine again.

"Stop—" And again.

"Kihyun—" And again.

"Come on—" He was being playful. I felt a hot flush of red color up my cheeks as he continued giving me little kisses every time I tried to speak.

"Yes! Okay, I know how to dance. Don't spoil me with the taste of your lips. I might grow thirsty of them someday."

"That's exactly what I wanted. And yes, it's a date. Hmm, I'll be going to work. Don't open my room, I'm hiding dead people in there," he joked. I was so amused at him. "When I come back, you should be prepared. Impress me, princess."

"I won't let you down." I took the plate from the counter and served the pancakes to myself.

Later that night, Kihyun was waiting by his car, holding a bouquet of roses on his hand. Feelings of excitement and fondness creeped up my system. I swear if he looks at me that way again, I'm gonna pass out.

"Hey, beautiful." His lips turned pink after he bit them. That was hot. He just won't let me live.

"I told you. I don't disappoint."

He drove us to a tent house, people were chattering, the tables and chairs were covered with red. The flowers displayed on the posts and the table located at the center gave away the clues to where he took me.

"Did we just crash a wedding?"

"Looks like it?" He fixed his tie and winked at me.

"Kihyun, what the hell?"

People were staring at us, quietly examining our identities.

"Don't worry. You look beautiful, that's why they're looking at you," he assured me with a smile. He reached out his hand and I willingly took it. "Let's see if you're not lying. Dance with me?"

We joined the bride and groom who were swaying at the center to the melody of a slow music. The moon shone so bright that night, I could clearly see him glow with the lights that surrounded us. The stars twinkled at the pace my heart pounded with every inch of space between our bodies. But like the night sky, there was still a very small piece of sadness. I couldn't stop looking at him, wishing he was someone else.

"What's on your mind?" he asked.

"Who's on your mind?" I answered back. My hands carefully brushed over his hair while his arms were belting my waist.

"This girl that I love who will probably never love me back." His ocean eyes drowned me in profound emotions. "She's beautiful, but she's hiding a lot of pain. And I could relate to that. I understand. But that doesn't mean I would stop loving her, right?" he continued.

I pulled him close, then he wrapped himself around me tighter.

"She still loves someone else, she won't admit it because it hurts her. I want to let her know it's okay. Hyeri, it's okay." He knows how to make me laugh, and he also knows how to make me cry.

I'm sorry I couldn't love you back. I thought. It was a wonderful night, excluding the dance that broke my heart and put it back at the same time. It was almost quarter to to 9pm when we arrived back to his apartment.

"Don't come near my room. I'll just park the car properly."

His keys chimed as he ran outside. He may have left his room open, which got me curious. Don't come near my room. And now curiouser. Do people sometimes tell you not to do something but you end up disobeying them because you just love finding out why? Yup, I have the same exact thoughts.

My instincts pushed me to go inside, his room was not that bad at all. His bed was covered in black duvet, though his pillows were white, just the right contrast. His floor was covered in brown carpet extending on the corners of the room. His watches are aligned horizontally on the table where his vanity mirror hanged. Opposite the watches, is a book, a portfolio rather, of what I suppose his work.

"Strange," I spoke softly. It was dumbfounding to learn that it was a portfolio of dead people. Naked and dead people. He was literally hiding them in his room. And one question replayed on my mind: Why?

Fright kicked in when I heard some slam the door on the wall. It was him. There was horror in his eyes at the sight of me.

"What are you doing?!!" He seized the portfolio from me and hysterically threw it inside his closet. Now he's starting to scare me.

"I—I didn't mean—" I stuttered in fear.

"I warned you not to come close!"

"I'm— I'm sorry, Ki—!" He lifted his hands on air, his palm was ready to hit my face. I kept my head low, I couldn't look at him.

There was gloom and suspicion in my mind as I closed my eyes, ready to take the hit. When I realized he paused, I opened my eyes and he's calm.

"Don't do it again." His face was serious and grim. The man who was in love hours ago, was now gone.

"I'm sorry. I won't do it again."

"Good for you, then," he coldly replied and closed the door on me.

🌻 note:

Can you imagine? BTS used to wish to be in the BB Hot 100 and now they're the highest-charting KPOP artist. DNA ranked #67 in Hot 100, and I could smell another Billboard award. I also hope they would let them perform. Let the world know how powerful they are. My kings.

I'm trying so hard not to be emotional right now, but our boys have reached so far. ARMYs and BTS made the dream work! Congratulations to us! 💕
