epilogue

it's you and me

. . .

[1st anniversary]
— author's narration

"Hyeri, close your eyes!" Jungkook was excited to give the greatest gift he could ever think of. He reached out inside his pocket and took the key of their new apartment.

"Open them now," he softly said. He dangled the keyring on his finger and showed it to his girlfriend.

Oh, she was the happiest woman that day. How much more if he asked her to marry him?

"Are you serious?!"

She was ecstatic to see his gift. Afterwards, there were tears in her eyes, she loved him more, not because of his gift, but because he listened to her the morning she told a dandelion that she wanted to stay with him much longer.

"I'm not leaving your side, jagi. I'm not going anywhere. Happy first anniversary."

She continued sobbing and he found it cute. His dimples were deep and beautiful that day, for the woman he loves is happy to be with him.

Jungkook's:

A knife was held on mid-air, ready to end Hyeri's life.

"Hyeri!" I almost ran out of breath running through the corridors, but still had the strength to push Lizzy away, her head hit the wall. Her face was covered with bruises, and her lip was bleeding. Baby, why did this happen to us?

I looked at her wasted state, her breath could hardly leave her mouth. I'm glad to see her alive, but I couldn't help but whimper in agony over the fact that I didn't save her sooner. Her shorts made the bruises on her legs visible. I lifted her shirt a little and there were more.

"I'm sorry I left you." I wiped the blood off her lips, and the tears from her eyes.

"I knew you'd always come back." She smiled. It was beautiful and painful at the same time.

"Ew, drama!" Lizzy recovered from the impact. She's still holding the knife though, as if it was glued to her hands.

"Lizzy, stop this, please," I pleaded, but she never failed to find pleasure in my suffering.

"You look ridiculous." Her perkiness at the situation, really, is driving me furious.

"How the fu.ck could you do this to us?!"

"How the fu.ck could you do this to me?!" she mocked.

I couldn't hold my rage any longer. I pinned her on the wall and pressed her arms on each side.

"Ohh Jungkook, are you gonna give yourself up to me now?" Her annoying laugh escaped her mouth.

"You wish!" I spat.

"Till death do us part," she blurted before pushing me off her and attacking me with that godda.mn knife.

Good thing Hyeri always threw everything she saw at me. It's like she trained me for this day. Those fights were worth it in the end.

"Careful with the knife, bi.tch," I tried hyping her up, let's see what she's got.

She held the knife on air and aimed to struck my chest, but I was quick to hold her wrist. Da.mn, she's strong!

The knife moved forward and backward as she used all her strength to bury it deep in my flesh, eager to send me to my death.

While I tried my best to push it back to her, her other hand released my shoulder. Now, both her hands are gripping the handle and I can't hold it any longer.

Instead of her face, I focused my attention to the blade ready to plunge in, and then I thought of her. Hell no, I'm not leaving her again. That dandelion she blew. That wish she made. That's all I got to fight back.

"Stop!" I protested and drew the knife close to myself before shoving her away.

She dropped the knife and without thinking, I picked it up. Right when she's about to attack me again, I thrusted the blade in her.

She arched her back forward and gazed upon the weapon. She found herself bleeding in no time. Her eyes met mine, then she drew a smile on her lips.

"You — you really love her, d—don't y—you?"

I have just murdered someone because of her, wouldn't that answer enough questions?

She moved an inch farther from me and slowly dropped herself on the cold floor.

[1st date]
— author's narration

"Huh? Where is she?" Jungkook turned around only to find the girl following him gone. He wandered around and followed the path he walked before losing her.

"Hyeri?" There she was, staring through a glass case of jewelries. He approached her, curious what captivated her full attention.

"A necklace?" he asked.

She looked at him with wonder in her eyes, as she's seen nothing prettier than the silver necklace before her. The girl may have noticed that she's taking up too much time looking at it, so she grabbed his hand and walked away.

It was his first time to see that joy in her face, and he fell in love with it. He craved to see her glittering smile again, so he came back to that jewelry store and did what he had to do.

Hyeri's:

The hospital tended my bruises and injuries. I didn't want my story to end up like an action movie, but here it is. Jungkook has been the sweetest. He took care of everything, mostly me.

I'd wake up everyday with flowers on my side table, and a kiss on my forehead. His smile glimmered with the morning sun and twinkled with the stars at nightfall.

"Hyeri, you're awake." He was waiting beside me with a bouquet on his hand.

"Good morning, Jungkook." I held his hand while he sat on my bed.

"How are you feeling? Still dizzy? Does your body still hurt?" There was concern in his voice.

"I'm recovering, Kookie. You don't have to worry."

"But I'll never stop worrying about you, even if you ask me to. Nope, not gonna stop." He cupped my cheeks and pulled me close.

"Oh, before I forget. Guess what I have in my bag!" He jumped off the bed and reached for a key. His key of the apartment.

"The apartment's yours. You can keep this, I'll just knock whenever I pass by." He smiled. And that's all I needed to know that it was okay.

"I'm happy you're still alive."

"Thank you for saving me."

For a moment, it was all perfect. I almost wanted him back. Today marks our supposedly third anniversary if we didn't break up, if nothing had gone wrong.

"I love you," he muttered while he brushed my hair with his fingers. It was comforting to find ourselves in each other's arms again.

"Jungkook, you know it's not that easy after everything—"

"No matter what has happened. No matter what you've done. No matter what you will do. I will always love you, I swear it."

I was silenced by his words. He did not need my answer to know what should be done. Our hearts beat the same rhythm and feel the same pain.

I still love him though, but sometimes I wonder if that would be enough to keep us together.

We planned this day while we lied on that hill, as well as the succeeding anniversaries.

Today, after the sun has taken over the sky, before the clock would strike 8, we would be hanging out by the hill where I blew that dandelion. If I could go back to that place again, I wouldn't wish for him to stay longer, but rather hope that his love would last, until I'm finally ready to love him again.
