Janica slowly opened her eyes. Sunlight streamed through the window revealing a cloud of dust hanging over the young girl's head. Her wavy brown hair sprawled across the pillow. She blinked a bit before sitting up in her bed. She glanced out the window. The world out there looked so beautiful. The long green grass waved in the light morning breeze. The lovely oak tree hung over the small pond in Janica's yard. It looked so welcoming and safe. Although, Janica knew that it was the opposite. The epidemic known as Raxious, was spreading through out the world. Slowly, taking lives. Janica shook away the thought and got out of bed. As she walked to her dresser, she got a quick look at her little sister Lavender, who was still fast asleep in the bed next to hers. She smiled at her sweet innocent face and opened the drawer. She slipped on a white sweater and denim jeans. Before she could open the door to go eat breakfast, she heard loud banging on the window. She spun around fast and saw Aaron banging on the window. He had a terrified look on his face. Janica rushed to the window and opened it. "What is it?! You look horrified!" Janica asked frantically as Aaron poured in the window. He stood up fast and grabbed Janica's shoulders. A look of fear locked in his eyes as he gazed into hers. His black hair dangled over his forehead. Janica blushed lightly as he leaned over her. "They're coming. They got my mom and Seth" He said in a quivering voice. A slight tear grew in his eye as he said. Seth was Aaron's little brother and Lavender's best friend. "H...how did you escape?!" I asked. Aaron steadied himself and got off of Janica "mom made a diversion so we could both escape, but Seth was taken before he could make it out the window" Aaron replied, tears now streaming down his face. He quickly wiped them away and looked back at Janica. "We have to get out of here. Now" he said firmly. She nodded and ran to Lavender's bedside. She shook her little sister awake "wake up, little flower" Janica said calmly. Lavender groaned and leaned up barely awake. "I'm gonna get supplies, take care of Lavender for me" Janica told Aaron and rushed out of the room. Janica ran to the coat closet and pulled out two backpacks. She threw them to the floor and ran to the kitchen she opened every cabinet and found four cans of soup, a box of cereal and five water bottles. The water resource was scarce these days because of Raxious. She poured a bottle in two thermos bottles that were also found. She separated the food into two even groups and placed each one in a backpack. She carried the backpacks and thermos back to the bedroom. Aaron had dressed Lavender in a blue dress with a little bow on the front. She was still very sleepy. Janica packed their clothes in the backpacks and put the thermos bottles in the cup holders of each backpack. Aaron picked up one of the backpacks and slung it over his back. Janica took her pocket knife and lighter and placed them in her pocket. Suddenly, they heard a large crash outside. The two friends rushed to the window and peered out. Six men in hazmat suits had destroyed Aaron's hover bike that he rode to get there. "COME OUTSIDE NOW OR WE'RE COMING IN!" One of the suited men yelled. Janica's heart began to race as she rushed to pick up her backpack. "Lavender isn't waking up any time soon, can you carry her?" Janica asked Aaron. "Yeah" he said. He then picked up the little girl and raced out of the room with Janica close behind. Aaron ran to the backdoor as Janica ran to the bookcase by the front door. She pushed it in front of the door and ran to Aaron and Lavender. Aaron opened the door and ran to the forest in Janica's backyard. Before he could step foot in the deep forest, Janica pulled him back, "Wait! There's tons of infected in there!" She yelled. Suddenly, another loud crash came from the house, "REVEAL YOURSELVES!" Another man yelled. Aaron looked back at Janica, "do you have a better idea?! Cause' I'd love to hear it!" He yelled. Janica's head and heart raced. She roughly bit her lip. "Okay. L...let's go" she said. The two then ran into the deep wood... And unknown
