Nurse Lilly

I couldn't feel anything. My whole body was numb. I tried turning my head, but I couldn't because of the pain. I grasped my neck and moaned, and felt blood. Had I been hit by a car? Suddenly, I heard a loud scream. I heard footsteps getting closer and closer by the second. Then a woman with red hair, stared at me with horror in her eyes. "ARE YOU OKAY?!" She yelled at me. That startled me quite a bit. I gasped and tried to reply, but I couldn't. I tried again, I couldn't. How come I couldn't talk? It was as if I had a soap bar in my mouth. You can't say anything with a soap bar in your mouth. Had I damaged something in my throat? Ugh, I had so many questions to be answered. Then I heard the loud whirring of sirens, getting closer and closer. Suddenly, the sirens got so loud I couldn't stand it anymore. I just wanted to be at home with my dad, watching football and playing air hockey. But no, I was laying down in the street, desperate and hurt, and now being took to the hospital to make things even worse. Two lady's placed me on to a hammock, or whatever you call it. They carried me into an ambulance, and shut the doors, leaving me petrified inside the van. Pain shot up my spine, and my body shook with fear. My head hurt, and a cramp was in my left foot. I tried to grasp my foot, but the pain was too strong. I could feel the ambulance vibrating. We were moving. Ten minutes passed and we had stopped. The same two lady's carried me out of the van, and into the tall building before me. "What is your name?" One of the lady's asked. I guessed moaning was the best response. She looked down at me and said gently, "Everything will be alright. Trust me. Everything will be alright." This gave me a serge of strength, for now I at least had some confidence. They put me onto a bed, and rolled me into a room. And there I lay, scared and wounded. Could things get worse than this? Doctors gathered around me with X-rays, sharp tools, and masks on their faces. My wish has been granted. "Do you think he might need surgery?" A doctor asked. "Heck, yeah! He probably will die!" Die? Was I going to die? I couldn't! I couldn't just leave my parents worried waiting for me to arrive when I was really dead! I imagined my dad calling my mother and hugging each other. I tried to push the thought out of my head, and prayed that I would make it. A nurse came into the room, and all the doctors ran out immediately. She sat by me and looked at me. She had eyes as blue as the ocean, and lovely brown hair. "Can you speak?" She asked me. I continued to moan. "I guess not." She grabbed a pen and wrote down on a blue sheet of paper. "I'm nurse Lilly. Now listen, I'm not your regular nurse. Wondered why those doctors ran out of the room? Me. Now you may or may not survive, but that's your problem. It's my job to keep you alive, so if doing surgery on you three times a week does the job, your going to have to live with it. Got it?" I coughed. "Good."
