Twenty Two
×Heeseung's pov×
"Sorry hyung, I'm too lazy to go out, but you can come over if you want! We're at Sunghoon's, here's the address"
Heeseung's eyes widened, his heart pounding with a mix of excitement and disbelief. Was he really invited over to Sunghoon's house? He couldn't believe it.
Jumping to his feet, Heeseung rushed to the bathroom, his mind racing. He turned on the shower, letting the hot water cascade over his body and wash away his fatigue.
After a quick shower, he brushed his teeth and dressed casually but impeccably, not wanting to appear too casual or too formal.
After careful consideration, he settled on a pair of dark-wash jeans, a grey hoodie with a shirt on the inside, its collar showing, and a beige cardigan that brought out the warmth in his eyes.
He spritzed on his favorite perfume and applied a touch of makeup, just enough to enhance his features.
Taking a deep breath to calm his nerves, Heeseung grabbed his keys and headed out to his motorcycle.
As he rode towards Sunghoon's residence, his heart pounded with anticipation. The thought of seeing Sunghoon again after so long filled him with both joy and trepidation.
Moments later, Heeseung arrived at Sunghoon's door and hesitated for a moment before knocking. When the door opened, his breath caught in his throat.
There stood Sunghoon, looking as handsome as ever. Their eyes locked, and time seemed to slow down. For a long moment, they gazed at each other, a silent exchange of emotions passing between them.
With a warm smile, Sunghoon stepped back and invited Heeseung inside, shyly.
"Hi hyung!"
Jake and Jungwon both greeted him at the same time, and Heeseung smiled at them, looking back at Sunghoon after that.
Heeseung stepped inside and joined the others in the living room, his heart still pounding. Jake immediately turned to him, a grin on his face.
"Hyung, Sunghoon is participating in the ice skating competition in January! We were just at the ice rink a few hours ago, watching him practice. He is really the ice prince."
Heeseung's eyes widened in surprise, and he looked at Sunghoon, feeling proud of him for some reason, as if they had any kind of relationship.
"Really?"
"Yes! He looked amazing."
"I bet. Wow! But, will that affect his-"
"No."
Sunghoon quickly cut him off. He knew what Heeseung was about to ask. He had told him about his knee that night.
"Uh, sit here, hyung. Make yourself at home. Jungwon, what were we saying?"
Heeseung sat down on the couch, a warm feeling spreading in his chest despite the air conditioning.
He couldn't ignore the way Sunghoon's eyes briefly lingered on him before turning back to Jungwon, a hint of shyness in his demeanor.
"Oh, right. We were discussing this new cafe that just opened up. It's near the university, and they have the best matcha latte ever!"
Jungwon exclaimed, his face brightening up. Heeseung listened intently as Jungwon talked about the cafe, Jake chiming in with his own stories about the place.
Heeseung found himself captivated by the way they interacted, the ease with which they laughed and shared stories.
The atmosphere was light and comfortable, a stark contrast to the loneliness he had been feeling lately.
As the night went on, Heeseung found himself drawn into their conversations.
He shared anecdotes from his work, which were met with interest and laughter. He learned about Sunghoon's passion for ice skating, the way his eyes lit up when he talked about it, and how he was determined to compete despite his knee injury.
The hours flew by, filled with laughter and shared stories. Heeseung had no idea that spending time with these three could feel so relaxed and comfortable.
They joked about trivial things, debated about the meaning of life, and reminisced about past events.
Heeseung glanced at the clock, his eyes widening in surprise. It was almost midnight.
"I should probably get going,"
He said, standing up. He couldn't stay any longer. He had fought with his mom that day, and he had a lot on his mind.
"Aw, come on, hyung. Stay a little longer!"
Jake whined, his eyes pleading. Heeseung hesitated, feeling a pang of disappointment at the thought of leaving.
He looked at Sunghoon, noticing how his eyes seemed to shift away from him, a subtle emotion flickering across his face.
"It's been really nice, but I really have to go."
"Hey, hyung, can you drop me off? It's getting late, and I don't want to take the bus."
Heeseung nodded, surprised by Jungwon's sudden request. He was known for not wanting to go home at night if he's over at a friend's.
"Of course."
"Wait, I'll leave too, then. Sunghoon, take care and sleep soon, okay?"
Sunghoon smiled, nodding playfully, as he waved goodbye to all three of them. As they walked towards Heeseung's motorcycle, Jungwon turned to him, a mischievous glint in his eye.
"You know, Jay hyung's coming back from America for Sunghoon hyung's birthday. We're planning a surprise party for him. You should come."
"Really? When is his birthday?"
"December eighth. It's midnight now, which means... In three days. We're gonna make it a night to remember."
Heeseung couldn't help but smile. He had never been one for parties, but the thought of seeing Sunghoon again, of being a part of his life, made him feel strangely excited.
They reached Jungwon's house, and Heeseung watched as he went inside, his face lit up with a warm smile. Heeseung glanced at his motorcycle, a sudden urge to turn back and go to Sunghoon's house bubbling inside him.
Without waiting for Jungwon's goodbye, Heeseung started his motorcycle and sped back towards Sunghoon's house.
His heart raced with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation. He didn't know what he would say, but he knew he couldn't let Sunghoon alone.
He knew how used he was to Jay being there with him, and he also knew that even if he was fine with being alone, he would be better with someone else there.
As he approached Sunghoon's house, a small, almost imperceptible smile played on his lips.
He had never felt this much urgency to get somewhere before. He pulled up to the curb, his heart pounding, his hands clammy.
He knocked on the door, trying to find an excuse for suddenly showing up again at Sunghoon's house.
The door opened, revealing Sunghoon's face, a mixture of surprise and relief washing over it.
"Hyung?"
Sunghoon asked, his voice filled with wonder. Heeseung looked at him, his eyes meeting Sunghoon's, a silent question hanging in the air.
"Can I stay over?"
Heeseung asked, his voice soft but firm. Sunghoon's eyes widened, and a smile spread across his face. He stepped aside, gesturing for him to come in.
"Of course."
Sunghoon said, his voice barely a whisper. Heeseung stepped inside, his heart overflowing with a joy he couldn't explain.
