Thirty Three
×Sunghoon's pov×
"Where are we going?"
Sunghoon asked, his voice barely above a whisper, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled between them.
"A surprise. Just relax and enjoy the ride."
Sunghoon nodded, a silent acknowledgment, his eyes focused on Heeseung. He watched him, a warmth spreading through his chest.
The quiet focus, the quiet skill, the quiet confidence that radiated from Heeseung was strangely captivating.
They left the familiar streets of their neighborhood behind, venturing into a different part of the city, a lively district bustling with cafes, small boutiques, and quaint little shops.
Sunghoon watched as Heeseung navigated the slightly busier streets with ease, his driving fluid and confident.
As Heeseung noticed Sunghoon glancing at him, a small smile curving his lips.
The car turned a corner and stopped in front of a charming little café, the aroma of freshly baked pastries and rich coffee wafting through the air.
The café had a vintage aesthetic, with pastel-colored walls, large windows that let in the morning light, and a quaint little patio adorned with flowering plants.
It was the kind of place that screamed cozy and inviting, a stark contrast to the modern, sleek environment that Sunghoon and Jay inhabited.
Heeseung parked the car expertly, a feat that impressed Sunghoon who had never seen him behind the wheel of a car before. He turned off the engine, the silence in the car suddenly amplifying the gentle music playing from inside the café.
"This is... This is incredible."
Sunghoon said, a look of surprise slowly dawning on his face. Heeseung stepped out the car, opening the door for Sunghoon.
"I thought you might like a change of scenery."
Heeseung replied, his cheeks flushed with the exertion of the drive but also with a kind of shy excitement.
"And the food here is supposedly the best breakfast in the city."
Sunghoon smiled, his heart feeling warm and fuzzy. He took Heeseung's hand as they walked towards the café, the sun shining brightly on them, casting warm shadows on the cobblestone pavement.
"I love it. Thank you."
Sunghoon admitted, squeezing Heeseung's hand gently. Heeseung's face softened, a genuine smile replacing the shyness.
"It's my pleasure, Sunghoon. I wanted to do something special for you."
As they stepped inside the café, the warmth of the place enveloped them, the aroma of coffee and pastry filling the air.
The gentle music, the soft lighting, and the overall ambience created a sense of peace and comfort.
Heeseung, with a mischievous glint in his eyes, steered Sunghoon towards the counter.
"Pick a table, love."
He said, his voice a soft murmur that sent a shiver down Sunghoon's spine. His heart stuttered in his chest.
The word, whispered softly yet filled with a warmth that spread through his core, hung in the air.
His mind momentarily blanked, his eyes widening slightly as he processed the endearment. He felt a warmth blooming on his cheeks, a blush that was both unfamiliar and surprisingly pleasant.
Heeseung, oblivious to the effect his words had on Sunghoon, was already approaching the counter, his smile a beacon of pure joy.
Sunghoon felt himself zone out, his senses momentarily overwhelmed by a combination of surprise, shyness, and a thrilling new sensation.
He watched as Heeseung placed their order, a quick exchange of words with the barista followed by a charming smile.
Sunghoon was vaguely aware of Heeseung returning, his gaze fixed on a point somewhere over Heeseung's shoulder as his mind struggled to catch up.
"This place is incredible, Sunghoon."
Heeseung said, his voice alight with enthusiasm, as he settled into the chair across from him.
"The food here, it's just... amazing. I wanted to bring you here because it's such a special place, and you are just as special."
Sunghoon, still flustered and slightly breathless, simply nodded, captivated by the intensity in Heeseung's eyes.
"They make everything fresh, right at the moment."
Heeseung continued, pointing at the muffins, his voice low and filled with a certain pride.
"It's so warm, so inviting. It's like heaven itself."
Sunghoon found himself smiling, a soft warmth spreading through him. Heeseung's words, his genuine excitement, were infectious. He felt seen, appreciated, in a way he hadn't anticipated.
Their food arrived, presented beautifully on two very pretty, pastel-colored, vintage plates.
"Here's your food."
Heeseung announced, a teasing twinkle in his eyes as he gestured towards the steaming mugs and muffins.
"Enjoy."
Sunghoon's eyes widened as he gazed at the strawberry oreo muffin and hot chocolate placed in front of him.
It was perfect, just what he would've picked for himself, and just the thought that Heeseung had chosen it for him without him asking filled him with a kind of joy he hadn't felt in a long time.
Heeseung was urging him to eat, a gentle smile playing on his lips as he watched Sunghoon take a bite.
Sunghoon felt a rush of warmth as he savored the flavour, a comforting deliciousness that mirrored the feeling in his chest. He could feel Heeseung's gaze on him, a silent admiration that felt intensely intimate.
Heeseung rested his head on his palms, his eyes filled with a soft light as he watched Sunghoon eat. A wide, almost childish smile played on his lips, and the warmth of his adoration was palpable.
Sunghoon, finally realizing the intensity of Heeseung's gaze, felt a blush creep up his neck. He was startled, but also, strangely, delighted by the way Heeseung looked at him. He felt a pleasant warmth spread through his chest; a new feeling, unfamiliar yet intensely pleasant.
"You should eat too, hyung."
Sunghoon said softly, his voice a mere whisper. He couldn't help but feel his cheeks flush even more; Heeseung's obvious adoration was both endearing and overwhelming.
Heeseung chuckled softly at Sunghoon's words, a sound that felt like a melody in the quiet café, before picking up his own caramel latte and blueberry muffin with a happy smile.
Sunghoon couldn't help but smile back, his heart fluttering at the thought of the day unfolding before them, filled with the sweetness of muffins, warm drinks, and the burgeoning warmth of something new and exciting between him and Heeseung.
