File Three

I didn't know what to expect once I opened the door. I probably should have expected two sleeping people, a cat asleep on a table, and two people in human form fighting over who moves the bobcat so they can play cards. "Just move her!" A blue haired girl exclaimed softly. She had green eyes, a bit lighter than emerald shade. "No! She'll scratch my face off!" The boy said, also quietly. He had black hair and also had green eyes. He seemed scared of the cat girl. "Uh.. Hi?" I said, just loud enough for them to hear me. They both looked up at me. "Who are you?" The blue haired girl asked. She wore a brown t shirt, overalls, and no shoes. "I'm Rose. I was kinda told to walk in here?" I said, not exactly knowing what to do. "New to the whole Hybrid thing, huh?" The boy said, still eyeing the cat warily. He had an oversized grey sweater and sweatpants. "Yeah. Just arrived here a minute ago." I decided not to mention Nick. He seemed cool, and I didn't want him to get in trouble like he said. "Well Rose, welcome to the Emerald cabin. I'm Ruth, this ball of fear is Jake." The blue haired girl, Ruth, said. "I'm not that scared! I just don't want to make her mad.. Her claws hurt. By the way, the bobcat on the table is Amy. She always sleeps in animal form, probably to freak me out." I sighed and walked over to the table. "If you want, I can move her." They both seemed shocked. "Well, best of luck to you." Jake said, backing up into the wall. "I gotta see this," said Ruth, standing closer. I slowly wrapped my arms around Amy, and made sure to keep her from falling. I set her on her bed and sat down at the table. I bet you're wondering how I knew it was her bed. Well, it had her name over it. "How did you-" I cut Ruth off, "A friend of mine had a cat and said that was the only way he could move her without waking her up. I figured it might work." Jake sighed in relief. I'll never forget how scared he was of a lot of things, especially Amy. "Finally, now we can play!" He said, smiling softly. Ruth opened a shiny green box full of cards. "Last time you had a white diamond, blue sapphire, a ruby, and three pearls, right?" She said, sifting through the box. She sat down across from Jake, who nodded. I sat down too, feeling somewhat comfortable around the two. I didn't know it at the time, but these people were practically my family. "What are you playing?" I asked, watching them sift through cards. "Oh! It's a game someone in the Sapphire cabin made up a long time ago. It's called Gem Hunt. Here, we'll teach you how to play. Not to brag, but I'm pretty good at it." Jake said, handing me seven cards.
