44 What a day
Roman POV
"I can't wait to see the boys. I bet they can do a lot of new things too. It's nice to see them both progressing so well." Mom babbled as we headed home.
"I feel the same way every time I come home after a few days. Both of them already speak very clearly. And even in two languages. Even though sometimes they try to trick us and pretend they didn't understand. Their giggles almost always give them away. But you really didn't have to bring them toys again. They have so much stuff," I replied as I pulled into the driveway.
"That is the privilege of a grandmother. I get to spoil my grandchildren. Of course, it will be much easier once you move. Wait until you see what I've already got for the girls," she explained.
Laughing, we got out and I took her suitcase out of the trunk before we went into the house. I had no doubt that Mom was already prepared for her new granddaughters. And Summer was, too. After all, she was finally getting not just one new niece she wanted, but two.
"Family? We're back. Come say hi to Gram!" I called as we stood in the hallway.
It wasn't long before I heard the tap tap tap of many small footsteps on the floor as Carson and Henry came rushing over. Mom knelt down to give the boys a hug. They squealed happily as they greeted their grandma. But there was no sign of Dani. It was not possible that she had not heard us, right?
"Boys? Where's Mama?" I asked my sons with a furrowed brow.
"She didn't say," Carson replied.
"I'll go check on her. Why don't you guys go in the living room. Mom, are you keeping an eye on them?" said I as I went to look for my wife.
"Of course. Grandma brought you guys something nice. Why don't you help me unpack it?" Mom asked the boys. That was something you didn't have to tell them twice.
I went into the bedroom to see if my wife was in here. But she wasn't, but then I heard a noise from the adjoining bathroom and went in.
When I opened the door, I was almost had a stroke. Dani was lying in the bathtub, doubled over in pain as she obviously pushed.
"Oh my God, Dani!" I gasped as I fell to my knees at her side. I took her hand firmly in mine.
"Why didn't you call? I need to call 911." I said as I searched in my pocket for my phone.
"No time... Boys hid my phone.... Must push.... catch the baby...." she gasped strained between breaths.
Before I had even the slightest chance to say something back, Dani was already pushing again and I could see our daughter's head under the surface of the water. I put my hands into the warm water and supported the little one as she slid into my waiting hands not a second later. Carefully I lifted her out of the water to place her on Dani's chest. The baby's loud cries echoed off the tiles.
I reached out for a towel and quickly covered the little person.
"You did so well, baby girl. I'll go get help." I said as I placed a kiss on my wife's forehead.
"I don't think we have that much time. I can already feel the second baby. I'm glad you're here Roman. I was so scared." she replied breathlessly as it was indeed not long before the next contraction came.
"What is going- Oh Lord!" we heard from the doorway.
Mom had apparently heard the noise, so she decided to see what was going on or where we were at.
"I need your help, Mom. Call 911 and get something for the umbilical cords. Hurry!" I called out to her as Dani was already starting to push again.
"You're doing so great, baby girl. You're almost there. Our daughter needs you. They are just as strong as their mama. I love you all so much." I said to encourage her somehow.
"Keep going.... keep going.... the head is out.... one more, Dani. I know you can do it." I said as I heard mom come into the bathroom behind me.
She knelt next to me as I lifted the second little being out of the water and placed her on her Mama's chest next to her sister. This little lady also had quite a voice. But at that moment it was the most beautiful music in the world.
Mom put a towel around the baby and then lovingly wiped her daughter-in-law's forehead.
"Congratulations. Good job sweetie. The doctor will be here in a few minutes. They said they were going to take care of the umbilical cords. The boys didn't notice anything. I'm so proud of you, DJ. And of you, son." she said a few moments later.
"I love you, Dani. Thank you." I said quietly to her.
"I love you, too. And I have to thank you for coming home in time," she replied softly as she leaned her head back.
I gave her a loving kiss as I placed my hand on our daughters backs. As I looked at them, I immediately realized that my wish had come true. The two little girls looked just like their mother. Love for my family flowed through me just like the day the boys were born.

"What a day...." sighed Dani as she leaned back in bed with one of our daughters in her arms.
"You could say that," I replied as I sat down as well.
Shortly after the dramatic events, the ambulance came and took Dani and the girls to the hospital to make sure everything was okay with them. And it was. All were doing very well. Our daughters had just been in a hurry to meet their family. Fortunately, the boys didn't notice any of this. They were too busy with their new toys. And mom distracted them by taking them to the park where they could get rid of their excess energy on the playground.
Since everything was fine with both the children and my wife, we were able to return home in the afternoon. And now it was time for Henry and Carson to meet their new sisters.
"Can we come in?" asked Mom from the doorway. I looked to Dani and she nodded.
"Come on in." I called softly so as not to wake the little ones in my arms.
"Daddy, Mama!" exclaimed Carson and hopped up on the bed but then he saw the babies and his eyes got even bigger than they already were.
"Oh two babies..." said Henry who joined us.
The boys looked at the girls very closely and even very gently stroked their little faces or held their tiny hands. I looked at my wife and immediately saw how proud and happy she was despite her exhaustion.
"Henry, Carson, these are your little sisters. What do you think?" I asked gently.
"Cute. Very cute..." whispered Henry.
"What is their name?" Carson wanted to know as he slid closer to his Mama.
"Well.... the baby daddy is holding is Josephine Autumn. And Mama has Delia Rose." replied Dani.
"Awww.... little babies." Carson then cooed.
"Love babies... my babies..." whispered Henry.
"And they both love their big brothers. Mama loves all her babies. And I love you." she replied, looking at me with a smile at the last part.
