Chapter Four

Caleb

I know I shouldn't, I know it's wrong, but I miss her.

I miss Grace.

She broke my heart, tore it apart, ripped it in two. And I miss her.

How pathetic is that?

She changed me.

I used to be awful, I used to not care about anyone. I would use girls and take advantage, but Grace changed me. She made me better, she made me a different person.

Now I don't know who I am.

"Hello?" I grunt out as I answer my ringing phone.

"Hey man!" comes Al's voice.

I sigh, "Hey bro, why are you calling?"

"Is that any way to talk to your best friend?" he jokes, "Nah, I'm calling to tell you that I was talking to a friend of mine and she is living in Ohio, that's where you are now!"

"And?" I ask, not getting the point at all.

"And I'm going to be there soon. I have a little surprise for you."

"Wait, what?" I ask, shocked, "Why are you coming? What's the surprise?"

Al laughs a little before continuing, "Well your mom didn't trust you to use this trip to your full advantage so she asked me to tag along and just make sure you're doing the right thing."

I huff out a breath, "Great so now you're my babysitter."

"No!" Al exclaimed, "It's not only that, I've really always wanted to see Ohio."

"Sure." I say sarcastically.

"Anyways, my plane is going to take off in a bit so I will see you soon?"

"Alright," I sigh, "see you soon."

"Dammit," I exclaim to myself, looking over the restaurant menu, "everything looks like shit here. Very expensive shit."

I sigh and get out of the booth, walking to the exit of the restaurant.

I'll just go to a grocery store, I think, I didn't go to cooking school to eat that shit.

After walking to the grocery store I make my selections of chicken, mango, breading, green beans, and tomatoes. I saw a mini kitchen in my hotel room, I'll just cook myself dinner.

I am just about to make my way to the cashier when I run into something.

"Dammi--" I begin but stop myself short when I look up to see what it was that I have run into, or rather, who.

She is beautiful. Absolutely stunning.

She is fairly tall, with a gorgeous body, curves in all the right places.

Her hair is cut short, curled, and silky.
Her skin is fair and her cheeks rosy, but that's not what gets me.

What gets me are her brown eyes, so dark that I feel like I am swimming in a pool of chocolate, a very delicious pool. They are innocent but wise, like they hold all the earth's secrets in them. I instantly want to know all those secrets.

"I'm so sorry," she exclaims, "I'm so clumsy sometimes!"

I chuckle at her sweetness, bending down to help her pick up what she had dropped. I see popcorn, bars of chocolate, and a pack of twizlers.

I raise my eyebrow at her, "sweet tooth?" I ask, repressing a chuckle.

She blushes deeply, "Something like that. Are you new here?"

"Something like that," I smile, watching as she does too, "I'm Caleb." I say once everything dropped is back in her basket.

"Chloe." she replies, holding out her free hand, I shake it.

"Well I should be on my way but I hope to see you soon Chloe."

She blushes deeply once again, "I hope so too. Bye Caleb." she says, walking away.

I smile to myself as I walk the other way.

Maybe this trip won't be so bad after all.
