37- The Kiss of Life (E)
Tony bolted up from his comfy spot on his bed after hearing what Peter had said to him. His heart was racing, and his palms started to sweat at the thought of finding Thea.
"Are you sure Parker?" Tony demanded. He was already getting dressed for the day, his shoes getting slipped on. Tony had his back turned when Peter spoke up. "I'm positive Mr. Stark, I stayed up all night just to see a change and I know I'm not hallucinating."
Tony stopped pulling on his watch when he heard Peter say this. He turned around slowly to look Peter in his eyes. Tony shut his eyes tight for a second before he spoke with a sigh. "Kid, you didn't need to do that."
Peter stared at Tony for a second before he spoke up in retaliation. "Yes, I did." Peter glared at Tony, not in anger but in disbelief. Tony shook his head before he turned back around to pick up his phone on his bedside table.

Thea, cold and beaten, was roughly thrown into the same room she was so harshly taken out of. After she had refused to harm Jennea on Dr. Truman's demand, Thea was taken out of the room that held Jennea captive. The same room that Thea had just destroyed against her body control. The feeling of her body releasing the enormous power was freeing. It felt like a dam breaking free, however, Thea knew the bad outcomes that happen from her doing this.
Thea crawled into the corner of the room, the dark and cold tile gripped her skin as she roughly dragged herself over. She curled herself into a ball, her hands gripping her legs and her head lay on her knees. Silently, Thea began to weep. Tears trailed down her cheek until they finally dripped onto the floor with an inaudible drip. Thea stayed in that position for hours until she heard the familiar sound of the metal door swinging open with a creak. She tilted her head up from her spot on her knee. Her forehead was bright red and imprinted with the shape of her knee. Thea's eyes were still wet from the tears she shed and were red from the pain she felt.
"I see you're doing well," Dr. Truman spoke with a hint of anger in her voice. Truman, who usually was neatly put together and manicured, was now slightly disheveled. Her hair was frizzy, her coat now wrinkled and filled with dirt.
With the tears in her eyes now drying up, Thea spoke out with sass, "I could say the same to you."
Dr. Truman glared at Thea, her eyes narrowed in anger. "Well then, I hope you would be glad to know that we took care of Jennea because you wouldn't."
Thea's words got caught in her throat as she struggles to breathe. Her eyes widened and her shoulders relaxed down as she tried to wrap her brain around what Truman had just said.
"Well, I hope you have a good time with the time you got left with a free mind," Truman said with a sickly sweet smile. With a pivot of her heel, Truman took the steps to leave Thea alone with her thoughts once again.

Peter, Tony, and Natasha left on a Quinjet as soon as they could. With no other individuals knowing about Thea's disappearance, they were going to have to put up with everything on their own. On the flight to Poland, Natasha went over the plan.
"We still don't know what we are fully going up against. There will most likely be armed guards on every post, waiting for something to happen, so we have to be as careful as possible," Natasha spoke while pointing to a map on a table in the jet. "One wrong move could get us, or Thea killed." Peter took a gulp of air as she told them this.
"But, what...what if Thea is already...dead?" Peter asked hesitantly.
Natasha looked at Peter for a second before she went on, ignoring his question.
"All we know is that it's an underground Hydra bunker in Poland. And from what we know about Hydra; they are willing to do anything they need to get what they want."
"But what do they even want from Thea?!" Peter exclaimed.
"I'm not sure, but we have to find her before they get what they want," Tony spoke up for the first time in a while.
Natasha looked over at the map of the area around the bunker and said. "We will enter through this compromised entrance over here." She said with a point of her finger at the map.
"We have to prepare for anything that might be thrown at us; all of us will have to be at our 'A' game."
An alert of Friday over the speakers let Tony know that they were flying over the drop off area. Tony clicked a button to begin the descent.
"Suit up, we have Thea to save."

Thea let out a moan of pain as she struggled to get up from her spot on the ground. Her body ached from staying in the same position for hours. Her eyes burned from the amount of rubbing Thea did to wipe away her tears. Once she finally stood up, Thea looked around the bland room. The room was white and dimly lit. Thea then began wandering around the small room, one foot after the other, in order to calm her mind after everything it has been going through.
A loud clang of the metal door interrupted her pacing. Thea flipped up her head to see Dr. Truman along with four other men quickly flooding into the room. Without hesitation, the men grabbed onto Thea. Immediately, Thea started shouting out and squirmed in their arms.
"Let me go you assholes!"
"Bring her to the lab," Truman said while staring directly at Thea.
The men stayed silent as they struggled to contain Thea's wiggling. After a few seconds of struggling with Thea, Dr. Truman sighed out in annoyance and pulled out a remote from her pocket. She placed her thumb on the screen of the remote before she clicked a single button. This sent a shockwave of electricity to Thea's collar. Thea convulsed in the men's arms before she went limp.
A few minutes passed since the shock that sent Thea unconscious. Thea's eyes opened slowly, a bright light now glaring down at Thea's face. She blinked a few times to adjust to the new and harsh light and looked down at her body to see it restrained. Clasps were locked around her arms and legs, leaving her torso and face free. However, above her head was not only a bright light, blinding her but there was also a metallic machine with a mouthguard and plates on each side of her head. Thea looked straight out and saw Truman looking down at her, a smirk now on her face.
"We should have done this the second we knew you would be trouble."
Thea took a gulp of air, her mind now reeling about what was going to happen to her. Dr. Truman turned around over her shoulder and reached over to the small metal tray table next to her. She picked up a single syringe with pale yellow fluid flowing in it. Truman took a nail and clicked it against the vial, causing the fluid inside to swirl around.
"Again with the syringes? Man, you guys really have a problem with alternative medicine here," Thea spoke out with a laugh, trying to conceal her anxiety.
Truman smiled sickly as she gripped the syringe in her hand, clenching it between her fingers. With one swift move, Truman plunged the syringe into Thea's neck, causing Thea to gasp in pain and arch upwards. But before Truman had a chance to push the fluid into her body a loud explosion interrupted her. It rattled the floors and shook the table that Thea was strapped to. Truman gasped and quickly pivoted around to yell at the guards watching over.
"What was that?! Get me out of here!" Truman took one final glance at Thea before she left.
The guards and Truman then quickly left Thea, alone and with a syringe in her neck. Thea clenched her eyes tight at the feeling of the needle in her neck, the foreign fluid moments away from being injected into her body. Thea dared not to move as she feared one wrong movement would cause the needle to pierce something in her neck. Thea's mind was reeling at the feeling of the needle perching her neck, inches away from major arteries.
A deafening sound awoke Thea to the current situation. Dirt and dust from the ceiling above dusted her face as the room shook from another nearby explosion. The table Thea was stranded on was being shaken up by the explosions, causing Thea to be at the misery of the movement. With one final explosion, the table moved sharply to the right, causing the needle filled with fluid to sharply jab into a vein inside of her neck.
Thea shouted out in pain as she clenched her eyes tight, feeling the icy fluid starting to flow into her body. A rush of cold liquid dripped into her neck and some stray droplets dropped onto her skin. The sudden breath of air and sound that Thea gave caused more discomfort and agitated the needle in her neck.
A few seconds passed as Thea grew more and more tired. Her eyes threatened to shut as her body relaxed. Right as her mind shut down, she could have sworn she heard the familiar voice of Peter yelling out her name.
~~~~
"Thea!" Peter called out for the third time in vain. Tony and Natasha were currently holding off the guards by the entrance while Peter snuck in to find Thea. Peter, clad in his Spider-Man outfit, was endlessly running through the halls looking for Thea. He peered through every window, he opened every door, but in vain.
"Thea!" Peter screamed out. His voice cracking from the strain placed on it. Underneath his mask, Peter had tears starting to well up in his eyes. He quickly blinked them away as he kept running down the endless halls. His running quickly ceased as he heard a faint shout of pain coming from a room ahead. His eyes widened in realization and sprinted as fast as he could, down the hall, to the very last door. Peter screamed her name out one final time as he came closer to the door.
His breaths were ragged as he rattled the doorknob. His breaths came out in puffs of hot air that fogged up on the tiny window that let him see Thea. She was sprawled across a table, her hair tangled up around her face. The part that worried Peter as he looking in was the obvious needle that stuck out of her neck.
His hands rattled the doorknob with such force while trying to open up the door that with one final tug the knob flung off. Peter, without missing a beat, started to slam his hands against the door. He groaned with every hit to the metal door. And with one final effort, Peter slammed his entire body against the door. The door finally collapsed under the immense force it was subjected to and fell on the hard floor.
Peter spoke out Thea's name once more as he rushed to her side. He ripped off his mask as he stared down at her bruised and bloodied face. Peter inhaled sharply at the needle the was currently jammed into her neck, causing her skin around it to be red and irritated. Peter looked down at the restraints holding her hostage and with a puff of anger, he ripped them off of her. The metal bars hit the floor with a loud clang. His hand then quickly placed itself on the side of her neck that was absent of a needle. His fingers tried to feel out a pulse, but when he wasn't able to find one, his ear went down to her chest. Peter pulled back up quickly as he realized Thea wasn't breathing.
With a rapid solution, Peter began compressions to her chest. Steady movements of his hands to her chest forced the needle to move suddenly. Peter took notice of this and without missing a compression, he gently took the needle out of her neck. The strange thing was that no blood came out of the tiny hole it left behind, however, Peter was too preoccupied with saving Thea that he failed to notice.
"Come on Thea," Peter spoke out loud to the cold air.
Stopping his compressions for a moment, Peter glanced down at Thea's beaten face and then at her lips. He hesitated slightly before he grasped her jaw to force it open in order to start mouth to mouth. And with one final motion, Peter dipped down to Thea's mouth. Peter's bare lips touched Thea's chapped and bloodied ones as he breathed out into her mouth. Peter then hurriedly moved back to compressions and repeated this change from mouth to mouth and compressions for a few minutes before he finally collapsed next to her.
A single tear left Peter's eyes before a whole rush of them left his eyes. Tears fell onto Thea's dirty and torn shirt as he laid his head on her chest. His hand reached out to Theas as he gently laced his fingers with her unresponsive ones. Her hand was cold and clammy, causing Peter to quickly lose all the warmth in his hand. With a sob, Peter said, "Thea please."
"I don't want you to go, please don't leave me."
With a final sob, Peter raised his head up and looked at Thea's face. With no intention of saving her now that she was gone, Peter's face dove down. And with his hand gently laced with hers, he placed his lips on hers. Her cold, chapped lips froze his as a final tear dropped from his eye, hitting her forehead.
Peter blinked away the tears remaining as he lifted his head back up. He swallowed the pain in his throat from crying as he unlaced his hands from hers. His hands were now slowly wrapping around her limp body as he began to pick her up. His face was stoic and his eyes were red from tears. His fingers gripped Thea's body as he lifted her off the table. But with the movement of her body from the table, Peter could have sworn that he felt something else.
Peter quickly looked down at her body to see a slight movement in her chest. With a single rise and fall of her chest, Peter set her back down on the table and placed his ear on her chest. He waited for a second to hear the comforting sound of a heartbeat. Peter smiled as he laughed out loud in joy.
Thea was alive.
I hope you loved reading this chapter as much as I loved writing it! And I'm planning on updating my other story The Double Mirror this weekend too.
