32- The Electricity (E)

Thea held her breath as the electrified girl stood less than 5 feet away from her. Thea closed her eyes and clenched then tightly, preparing for whatever would come next. Suddenly, the same sound of the air hissing around her collar happened again and Thea's hairs fell down from their place, standing high on her arms. Slowly, Thea cracked open her eyes and the first thing she saw when she did was the same girl, now not electrified but a normal girl again. Thea herself could feel her powers slowly shutting itself away. They were still there, but Thea could not obtain them. Almost as if they were in a separate room from her, waiting and begging to be used, but she could not reach them.

Thea's eyes focused on the girl in front of her, the girl shook her hands and looked down at them with a frantic expression. The mysterious girl looked up from her hands and glared at Thea then turned around and walked back to her spot in the corner of the expansive room. Thea got up silently and ran over to the girl before she sat down and grabbed her shoulder with a firm grip.

When she did this Thea said, "Hey, just wait a se-" But before she could finish her sentence the girl turned around quickly, her hand gripping onto Thea's hand which was on her shoulder and ripped it off. The girl pulled Thea's wrist and twisted it down,  Thea's wrist now in an unnatural position in the girls grasp.

"Don't touch me," The girl spat at Thea, staring directly into her eyes.

Thea audibly gasped when this happened so quickly but recovered immediately, her other hand raising up to the girl's neck and with a brisk movement Thea pulled her head forward and slammed it against hers. The girl did not prepare for this and abandoned her grip on Thea's hand, instead, her hand went to her forehead which was now throbbing from the harsh impact. Taking her moment of weakness as a sign Thea didn't hesitate to grab the girls shoulders forcefully and spin her around quickly. With one violent push, shoved her to the ground harshly. The girl's body making contact with the concrete ground with a thud. Thea took the girls hands behind her back and sat down on her back, effectively entrapping her. The girl groaned at the impact and glared up at Thea on top of her.

"I'll do whatever the fuck I want because I don't know whats happening or why I am here. So you better start explaining because it would take me less than a second to snap your neck like this." Thea spat back, her eyes starting to tint purple. The vulnerable girl on the ground looked at Thea in curiosity and sighed.

"Fine, just stop manhandling me," the girl groaned.

Thea narrowed her eyes before she slowly let go of her grip on the girl. Carefully, Thea stood up from her position on the girls back and waited for the girl to get up too. Gradually, the girl stood up and turned around to face Thea and groaned at her.

"Come here," the girl demanded at Thea. She waved her hand in a 'come hither' motion. Thea looked at the girl in confusion before the girl pointed up at the ceiling and mouthed the word 'cameras'. Thea's eyes followed the girl's finger up to the ceiling and spotted a small camera staring back at them. Slowly looking back down Thea cautiously walked over to the corner where the girl spent her time. The electrified girl sat down on the floor and slowly Thea sat down, making sure to put a few feet of distance between them. Thea opened her mouth to ask a question, but before she could utter a syllable the girl stopped her and asked first.

"Before we do anything I need to know, what's your name?"

Thea furrowed her eyebrows and questioned, "Why do you need to know my name? Didn't you just try to kill me not 5 minutes ago."

"Actually, I think that was you. All I did was tell you not to touch me," she proclaimed.

Thea paused for a moment before she sighed out, "Thea."

"What?" the other girl asked, not fully hearing what she had said.

"My name is Thea."

The other girl smiled softly before she said, "Nice to meet you, Thea, I'm Jennea."

Thea kept a calm demeanor and was unfazed. Thea glanced back up at the camera but was interrupted when Jennea said, "Don't worry, cameras can't see us over here."

"What is this place? Why am I here? Why are you?" Thea asked question after question while she looked back at Jennea.  "And what the hell was that earlier?" Thea questioned, referring to her electricity. Thea waved her hands around Jennea's body in exasperation. Jennea sighed before she slapped away Thea's hands and focused on her.

"Look, I don't know what this place is, truly. All I know is that it is hell here." Jennea's eyes hardened when she said this and Thea 's unfazing gaze was faltered by this.

"They treat us like animals...no worse than them," Jennea tucked away a piece of her thick hair before she continued. "The one thing I have noticed in this place is that everyone who is imprisoned here has some form of powers. Whether it is just super strength or the ability to manipulate air itself."

"And what can you do?" Thea asked, looking directly at Jennea.

Jennea cleared her throat before she straightened her back and said, "I can manipulate electricity."

Thea stayed silent as she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "It's like those lightning bolts you saw shot out of me when they unlocked the collars," Jennea continued.

When Thea heard this, her hand immediately shot straight to her neck where the collar lay. She rubbed her exposed neck and felt the collar. It was a small and thin collar with a single button and a light embedded into it.

"That's another thing, the collars," Jennea said, looking directly at Thea. "They limit any and all power that a person has." Thea slowly removed her hand from her neck and stared at Jennea's collar instead. "Dr. Truman decides when and where she wants us to use our powers. Whenever you hear any air hissing coming from your collar, that is when you know that you can use them."

Thea inhaled a deep breath of air and closed her eyes shut. She licked her lips softly and parted them before she calmly said, "Why am I here?"

The other young girl sighed out, "Hell if I know, every person that comes in here has their own reason they are here." Thea let out a groan and in a fit of stress, tugged on the roots of her hair. Her fingers clenched around the dark roots and she shut her eyes back tightly. Thea only cracked open her eyes when Jennea said, "But you seem different."

Thea let go of her vice grip on her roots and stared at the girl.

"What do you mean different?"

Jennea quickly glanced up at the camera in the corner and looked back and Thea before she whispered, "Look, I know about as much as you do. But all I know is that they shut off my powers before I could harm you. It is like they saw that you couldn't use your powers to fight back so they saved you."

Thea furrowed her eyebrows and her forehead wrinkled together in confusion. "Why? Why would they choose to protect me?"

"I'm sorry but I have no clue...All I know is that you are special to them. They need you alive."

Peter's mind didn't slow down from its current and rapid pace it was firing at. The entire time he was waiting for Tony Stark to arrive at Thea's apartment Peter was stressed and concerned. Everything happened so quickly for Peter and his mind wandered back to relive the moment. He couldn't help but feel that he was to blame for Thea's kidnapping. He kept thinking If only I was a little bit stronger or faster, that none of this would have happened. Peter waited impatiently for Tony to arrive. But he knew he was at the apartment when Pete heard the sound of metal clanging against metal. The sound of Tony Stark's Ironman Suit hitting landing on top of the grate flooring of the fire escape.

Peter's head whipped around so fast that his usually neat hair was now an unruly mess on top of his head. He wasted no time rushing to the now shattered window and climbing through it, a few shards scraping his skin.

Tony opened up his suit and could immediately tell this was serious by the look on Peters' face. Peter's eyes were tinted red and bruises and blood were scattered all over his body. But what really shocked Tony was the pure look of terror and sadness on his face. A wide range of emotion was changing his normally cheerful face into one of a depressed one.

Peter opened his mouth slightly before words began to fall out of him at a rapid pace. "I'msosorryMr.StarknoneofthiswouldhavehappenedifIhadjustbeenmor-" Tony stopped Peter's unintelligible ramblings by placing both his hands on his shoulders and squeezing tightly.

"It's okay Peter, right now we just need to worry about finding her, and fast."  Tony looked down at Peter calmly, but on the inside, Tony was truly breaking down. Thea was the closed thing to what he called family. Thea wasn't blood-related but she was his daughter...and fathers look out for their daughters.

Tony slowly let his grip on Peter's shoulders slide down and soon Tony let go of Peter altogether. Tony took a deep breath and calmed himself down. "So, repeat everything you said. What exactly happened here?"

Peter went on to tell Tony about the strange men who broke into the apartment and fought to capture Thea and eventually knocked Peter out. Peter told Tony that he had no idea who they were nor what they wanted with Thea.

Tony sighed softly and quietly stepped back into the suit, but before the suit closed around him Tony looked back at Peter and said, "Let's go, kid, we don't have any time to lose." A soft metallic hinging sound alerted Peter that Tony was ready to carry him back to wherever he needed to be taken to. Peter made no sound as Tony picked him up with little effort and lifted both of them into the air.

The ride to the new Avengers estate was short and silent. Both of them were thinking about what they could do, or what they should do in order to find Thea.

Tony guided Peter through the many corridors of the estate but was stopped abruptly in his tracks when Peter asked, "How are we going to find her Mr. Stark?"

Tony turned around slowly and with a serious demeanor told Peter, "I'm going to have to call in a favor from someone."  Peter began to fidget with his fingers slightly as he asked another question. "Who are you going to call?"

Tony called out into the open air, "Friday, call Agent Natasha Romanoff."

"Will do boss."
