26- The Civil War (E)
Thea should have known it wouldn't have been long before she was recruited. She knew deep down that Tony wished she would be on his side. But that's just not how it worked out for her. The world barely trusted the mutants and enhanced people. But was Thea a mutant?
Thea was born with these powers but they didn't feel like mutant abilities. They weren't set in stone abilities. Every day they seemed to change and adapt. With this knowledge, Thea knew what these accords would do to her. So when Steve approached her with a proposition, she already knew her answer.
A soft knocking on her door woke Thea up. She sat up on the edge of her bed and groggily wiped the sleep out of her eyes. Clad in a loose tank top and pajama pants, Thea walked to the sound of knocking at the front door.
"Who is it?" Thea yawned out, not even bothering to check who it was first before she opened the door. Her hand rested on the edge of the door as she held it open.
Outside the door was Steve Rogers, Captain America. He was wearing a gray shirt that was dirtied with dried blood and dirt. His hair was uncombed, unlike his usual self, and his face was bloodied and bruised.
Thea immediately stood up straight, any sleep left in her now completely gone at the sight of him. "St-Steve... what are you doing here?"
"We need your help." Steve put clearly stated.
Thea's eyebrows furrowed slightly as she asked, "Who's we?"
"Wanda, Clint, Sam, Buck, and, hopefully, someone else, that you probably don't know," Steve said while crossing his arms.
"What exactly is going to happen?" Thea asked with an eyebrow raised. She let go of her grip on the door and leaned against the door frame.
"Just come with me and I'll tell you everything," Steve replied. He sidestepped, giving Thea a path to walk out.
"You know being as vague as you are right now I am feeling inclined to say no," Thea paused, looking at the reaction of Steve. His face held a slight expression of shock. Thea sighed, "But I'll say yes because I like you, Cap."
Steve's face transformed into a look of relief and smiled at Thea, his eyes closed slightly. "I like you too kid."
"Give me a couple of minutes to pack first... " Thea said while taking a step backward, further into her apartment. "I'm assuming no longer than five days?"
Thea turned around and walked toward her bedroom. All Steve did in reply was hum a 'yes'.
~~~~
Thea slung a backpack filled with supplies on her back and walked out of her bedroom. In her living room was Steve, sitting down on the couch. He sat patiently on the couch, his hand folded in his lap as he leaned forward slightly.
"So," Thea said while walking over to Steve. Thea closed the door behind her and asked, "Where are we going?"
"Germany," Steve said bluntly, he stood up from his spot on the couch and began to walk toward the door. Thea froze in her spot by the couch. Steve turned around at her and asked, "What? Never been to another country before?"
"Considering I've only been in another country when I was kidnapped, uh no," Thea stated, her body moving forward toward Steve by the door.
On the way to Germany, Steve debriefed Thea on everything that had been going on. How a mad man was trying to revive soldiers like Bucky, only worse. Once in Germany, Thea realized that it wasn't as different from America as she thought it would be. Steve and Thea quickly met up with some of the group in a deserted parking structure.
Thea smiled as she saw Sam and Bucky standing alongside an older car. Once Sam caught sight of Thea, he stuck out a hand and patted her head like a dog. "Hey, kid how you doing?" Sam asked, his hand still rested on her head.
Thea sighed out in annoyance. She lifted her hand slightly, forming purple mist in her grasp and with one rapid move, Thea shot out the power and wrapped it on Sam's hand. Thea flicked her hand, causing Sam's hand on top of her head to move.
Thea smiled, her powers still attached to his hand. "Not too bad birdman," She replied. Thea dropped her own hand, causing the powers on Sam's to be released.
Sam had a look of shock on his face when Thea did this, but it grew once she said birdman. "Hey, hey now," Sam jokingly said back.
Thea glanced behind Sam's shocked face to see a serious toned man standing still.
"Hi Bucky," Thea said, trying to be as friendly as possible. He didn't say anything in response, he only nodded. "I'm Thea or Dark Matter."
"I've heard of you," Bucky said, his voice was raspy and monotone.
"Hopefully only good things," Thea said back.
"We better get going, we have to meet up with Sharon for intel," Steve interrupted.
The group walked to the nearby car that was riddled with age. It was a blue and rusted car. Thea snorted. "Really? You can't let go of the old days can you Steve."
Steve chuckled slightly and pushed Thea into the back seat of the car. "Just get in."
~~~~
The car ride with the group was more awkward than Thea expected. She stayed silent for the majority of the ride. Her eyes trailed over the landscape as Steve drove the group to the rendezvous point. Thea was squished next to Bucky as they drove past the foreign buildings. German words were scribbled on signs that they passed. The car slowed as they entered under a bridge. It was damp and abandoned, with not a single soul around.
Steve turned off and exited the car, leaving Thea, Sam, and Bucky in the car.
Thea looked out the front window to see Steve walk up to a blonde woman. The car in front of her had the trunk open and through the glimpse from the back seat, Thea could see a shimmer of metal, Captain America's shield.
Using her peripheral vision, Thea looked over at Bucky was crammed against the front seat and to her on the side.
"Can you move your seat up?" Bucky asked Sam with malice in his voice.
"No," Sam said while not looking back.
Thea kept a straight face on as she tried to discreetly scoot over to give Bucky more room. Bucky, in turn, spread out more, moving farther from the door which he was crammed against. Thea tried her best to not seem uncomfortable, instead of focusing on the bodies in the car, she focused her attention on the bodies outside.
Steve and Sharon were standing oddly close to one another. Thea's eyes widened as Steve leaned forward and kissed Sharon gently. Sharon quickly acted on this and kissed back. The pair broke apart and stood near each other for a moment. Thea rolled her eyes and looked at Bucky and Sam who both nodded and smirked at Steve.

The old, blue Beatle that the team was in was now parked in an empty parking structure right next to the airport. Thea wondered if the car would be able to make it because of the constant creaking that emitted from it at every slight movement.
Steve parked the car beside a large white van that was resting idly by in the structure. Sam and Steve climbed out of the car and over to the van, Thea, and Bucky following suit. Coming out of the white van was none other than Clint Barton.
"Cap," Clint said while nodding his head at Steve.
Wanda climbed out of the passenger side of the van and joined the group.
"You know I wouldn't have called if I had any other choice," Steve said while sticking a hand out to Clint to shake.
"Hey man, you're doing me a favor. Besides, I owe a debt." Clint said this while nodding over the Wanda who was waiting behind him with her arms crossed.
"Thanks for having my back," Steve looked over at Wanda.
"It was time to get off my ass," Wanda said while glancing back and forth from Clint and Steve.
Thea smiled at Wanda, who returned it.
"How about our other recruit?" Steve asked while looking back at the van.
"He's rarin' to go." Clint walked to the van and grabbed the sliding door handle. "Had to put a little coffee in him but he should be good." Inside sat a middle-aged man who looked like he was just sleeping. The door slammed open, causing the man to be awoken from his slumber. He jolted up on the seat, his eyes growing wide.
"Ugh, what time zone is this?" The man said while slowly crawling out of the van. His eyes squinted at the sudden light but they opened wider when he saw the rest of the team.
"Captain America!" He said while shaking his hand.
"Mr. Lang."
"It's an honor. I'm shaking your hand too long." He noted too. His hand was still aggressively shaking Steve's, a smile still present on his face.
Thea grinned from behind Scott's excited body. She peered over to see Steve with a serious look on his face.
"Wow!" Scott said while letting go of Steve's hand, "This is awesome." He turned around to Wanda and Thea while pointing at Steve. "Captain America," Scott started to turn back around but did a double-take once he realized who he was looking at. "I know you too. You're great!" Lang turned back around to Steve and sighed, he breathed in again and held the breath and looked Steve up and down. "Jeez." He quickly grabbed Steve's biceps and let go. "Ah look, I wanna say. I know you know a lot of super people, so thinks for thanking of me."
Thea snorted at his remark. She looked over at Steve who had a smirk on his face.
"Hey man!" Scott shouted out to Sam while pointing at him.
"What's up Tic Tac?"
"Uh...good to see you. Look, what happened last time when I-" Lang started.
"It was a great audition, but it'll never happen again." Sam cut him off.
"They tell you what we're up against?" Steve input.
"Something about some psycho-assassins?" Lang answered.
"We're outside the law on this one. So if you come with us you're a wanted man."
"Yeah, well, what else is new?" Scott said with a sigh.
Thea furrowed her brows. Is he a criminal? She thought.
"We should get moving," Bucky stated. He had his arm rested on top of the beat-up car they arrived in.
"We got a chopper lined up," Clint said.
Thea quickly turned around to face Clint who was leaning against the van. Her head began to ache from the number of times she whipped it around.
She sighed out, "I'm going to get whiplash if you guys keep talking back and forth." Thea placed a hand on her head and shook rubbed it slightly.
Scott turned back around at Thea's voice. His eyes widened as he pointed at her. "Whose that?" He asked.
Thea rolled her eyes and sighed out. Her arms that were previously crossed became uncrossed as she walked closer to Scott. She silently reached into her back pocket and pulled out a hefty broach. While taking a few more steps forward toward Scott, Thea placed the broach on her chest. She sighed in relief as she felt a layer grow over her body like a glove. The last thing to cover was the mask over her mouth. And in a slightly muffled voice, Thea said, "The name's Dark Matter, Mr. Lang."
Scott's mouth visibly dropped as he pointed to Thea. Like a child, he shouted out excitedly, "That's so awesome!"
Thea smiled under her mask and reached up to pull down it, exposing her entire face. She parted her mouth, as if to say something, but stopped when she heard a voice speaking German over the speakers.
"They're evacuating the airport," Bucky said, translating for the group.
"Stark," Sam stated.
"Stark?" Scott said in a confused tone.
Steve waited a moment before he said, "Suit up."
Thea grinned as she tugged up the mask, ready to go.

All rights to Spider-Man and original plot goes to the Marvel franchise and their fantastic movies and comics. I own new story lines and new characters, like Thea Quinton.
So, Thea has officially joined Cap's side. What will that mean for Tony and Peter? Who knows? I mean I do but that doesn't matter. The story is finally reaching the point in the MCU where it all climaxes. Get ready for it all.
How are you liking the story so far? What are your theories? I would like to know.
