You tell me that I'm crazy
Doing this alone
Ohio stared at the candle in his room. Fire always intrigued him; it was weird for sure. But the bright hypnotic light always grabbed his attention. He couldn't just look away from it. He reached out to grab the candle, holding it gently in his palms. It was so...
Beautiful.
Like Indiana... But a tad harsher to the touch than him. He took the candle off of the dresser. Staring more intensely at the details. How the cream-colored wax seemed to slip off so easily because of the flames.
"Ohio?"
You don't need to save me
Oh, how I've grown
Ohio didn't hear Virginia calling him, he was so occupied with the candle. He watched as the wax started to fall. God. Fire is awesome. The way it danced.
Everything about it seemed perfect.
Nothing he could ever top, he couldn't even dance. Let alone do it like the fire. "Ohio?! Don't make me come up there!" Virginia yelled again from down the stairs. His voice was still white noise to state.
Finally, Virginia had enough, grabbing Georgia and dragging him upstairs with him. "Ohio-?"
He opened Ohio's door terrified. "Who gave him a candle!!" Georgia yelled. Virginia quickly snatched it from the boy. Who whined in protest.
I am capable of everything you can see
But now I want to change
"Ohio what on earth do you think you're doing?! I told you never to touch the candles!" Scolded the man. Virginia sat the Candle back in its place. "Now care to explain why you disobeyed my orders?" The mother (Or father I guess this is just a nickname for the state-) of states asked. Anger and worry laced within his voice.
Ohio stayed silent. And it only made Virginia's anger grow.
"Just blow out the candles
Oh little boy, when will you learn?
You don't play with fire
Unless you wanna get burned"
(Wanna get burned)
Georgia, hesitantly, took the candle from his fellow southerner and put it out. "Don't ya think ya bein' a bit hard on the kid Vi? He was just curious..." Virginia whipped his head around. Clearly offended.
"His curiosity could have left my house in ruins! It could have killed the others! If anythin' I'm bein' too nice. I should have a belt on his tail for not listenin' his ears work fine. But his mind ain't in the right place." Spat the other, then smaller male stomped off and back down the stairs. Georgia sighed, turning his gaze to Ohio, who was obviously terrified.
"I ain't gonna let him hit ya ok?" He said softly, getting down on his knees. Ohio nodded and wrapped his arms around the peachy state's neck. "Vi's always had a bad temper. He'll be fine in a bit alright, Ohio?"
"Mhm..."
Just blow out the candles
Oh, how the tables they've turned
You don't play with fire
Unless you wanna get burned
You wanna get burned
(Wanna get burned
Wanna, wanna get burned)
Ohio's psychotic laughter filled the ever so silent room. He caught a trade-worthy state and the first to leave. Georgia and South Carolina. Soldiers took concerned glances at each other before going back to their stone-cold faces. Virginia would kill him. Ohio knew it.
Did he care?
Heavens no.
Well... Maybe a little.
Something's just so crazy
Things you'll never know
There's always that I would maybe
That keeps stringing you along
Despite how badly he may have hurt them he still won. The union had a guaranteed win now. It was only a matter of time before the confederacy would fall. Losing cities like Savanah and Charleston would destroy their economy. Not that it was any good anyway. "S-Sir." A young voice said.
"What is it? I don't have all day?!" Ohio replied sharply. Causing the new soldier to flinch. Ohio noticed, not intending to scare the young man. Granted he couldn't care less if he had.
"Ummm... I have a letter. From Washington. They want any prisoners of higher class to be brought there."
Ohio nodded and ordered for the injured states and cities to be taken to D.C immediately for treatment. "I'll go with them. But a little later. There's one last stop I need to make." He turned to a much older soldier. "Set a course for Vicksburg. We have a flower boy to catch."
'Cause I am capable of everything you can see
But now I want to change
Mississippi limped past countless buildings and bodies around him. That Ohio shot him in the leg. He couldn't run. He needed to. Yet he couldn't just leave his state in ruins. His leg hurt too much to even try. Mississippi didn't want to die like Georgia had. At least not at the hands of an Ohioan who seriously needs to go to a mental institution.
As if his body was working against him, his eyes grew weary. He persisted on. He lost Ohio in the flames and cannons of his war-torn city. His beloved city... His one good leg finally gave out on him, and Mississippi tumbled to the ground. He mumbled faint prayers before passing out.
Ohio found his body a few moments later. "Weak." The buck-eyed state muttered. He hopped off his horse and picked up Mississippi. Shortly after tossing him on the back of his steed as if he was a sack of potatoes. "Welp... To Washington again."
Just blow out the candles
Oh, little boy, when will you learn?
You don't play with fire
Unless you wanna get burned
Wanna get burned
"Commander. We have news about your brother." A soldier said, urgently barging into Alabama's office. Alabama grinned, it's been way too long since he's heard any word from him. Of course, Alabama sent him letters, he just never got a response... Unfortunately.
"Well go on. Read it to me." The soldier gulped and opened the letter. Then he began to read.
'Dear Rebel scum- I mean Alabama,
I'd just thought you should know about your brother's capture! It's a great success huh? Well. Not for you, but for me I could not be happier! We will not harm him, at least for now. And D.C already subjected Mass to tend his wounds. Oh. Did I mention shooting him? Just once in the leg, nothing too bad.
I simply cannot wait to stop by! I hope you do not mind. Who am I kidding? You will. And frankly I am looking forward to winning this war. It's funny honestly. You southerners let pride go over your common sense. How would you have expected to win when northern states have like ten times the amount of people compared to you all? Or should I say y'all? Not important.
See you soon~!
Sincerely,
Ohio <3
Blow out the candles
Oh, how the tables they've turned
You don't play with fire
Unless you wanna get burned
Wanna get burned
Alabama slammed his fists onto his dark oak desk, immediately snapping it in two. The soldier flinched; he had never seen Alabama so... Angry. And he's worked here for a while. A long while. "Tell the soldiers to arm themselves. We're leaving now. I've heard rumors he's in Washington. So that's where we're going."
"S-sir! That's a death wish on a silver platter. The Yankies-"
Alabama quickly walked past him. If he would not do it then Alabama would. For his brother, father, and friend.
Ohio, the butcher wasn't going to get away with this.
What is that, that I see
Floating right in front of me
Lock the doors, try to leave
But now it's clear to me
Mississippi struggled against his restraints, both his hands and feet tied tightly together. "Will you stop moving! I need to remove the bullet." Massachusetts hissed, doing his best to keep the squirming state still.
Maryland sat beside him, covering his bloody nose after Sippi kicked him in the face. "Why did we even agree to help him?" Whimpered the Old-Line State with slight irritation. Mostly pain though.
"You won't have to agree on anything if you let me go-"
"You aren't leaving Mississippi." Both Yankees said in unison. Mississippi pouted, his gaze turning to Maryland.
"Come on Mary we're friends-"
"You kicked me. Shut up."
You didn't blow out the candles
Oh, little boy, you'll never learn
You don't play with fire
But you're already burned
You're already burned
"How's Southie and Peachy doing?" New York asked hesitantly. He's been trying to avoid the two since... The incident. Crying in front of other states was a foolish thing to do. Especially if you're an empire.
"They're fine right now. Southie is having some trouble with his eyesight. He said everything is really blurry, but he can kinda make out shapes and stuff. Georgia can't walk very well anymore. So, I gotta help him get around, but at least they lived." Pennsylvania replied, grabbing two bowls of tomato soup. "I gotta take these two their food. Do youse wanna come?"
"Sure." New York followed Pennsylvania into New Jersey's room. Where said state sat next to South Carolina. "We uhh... Brought you guys some food." Mumbled New York.
"Thanks, Yorkie and Penny!!" Georgia said cheerfully, S.C smiled slightly.
"Yeah, thanks y'all." South Carolina stated not as cheerfully as his peachy friend, reached up and took a bowl from the Keystone state. The two carefully began to eat. The rest silently watched.
Thank god this war was ending...
It had to of course.
Blow out the candles
Oh, little boy, you'll never learn
You don't play with fire
But you're already burned
You're already burned
Ohio stood on his balcony. He had finally arrived home, yet it didn't feel like home anymore. Indiana fought with him for the first time in decades...
He never intended to hurt South Carolina or Georgia that badly. Georgia was like a brother to him and Southie was a close friend. He couldn't shake his love for fire even if he wanted to and at the time it felt necessary.
It worked, even if their cities were harmed. Thankfully they were ok-ish, Savanah hadn't spoken to him since he... marched. No one knew where South Carolina's cities had been. Ohio hoped North Carolina would put their rivalry aside to take care of them.
"Ohio..."
Ohio turned around nervously, Indiana's eyes all red and puffy. The Buckeye state felt a flood of guilt wash over him by just staring at those eyes. "Why did you do it...?" He mumbled. The other state took a moment to conduct a decent response.
"Indi, dear, there is not a good side to most wars. In this case, I had to show the southerners that what they were doing was unacceptable. People should never own people, they shouldn't be beat for doing their jobs, they shouldn't be stolen from their homes to work in a land they wouldn't even consider them a human being. They were fighting to keep their... as Texas would have said to any form of change, sinful ways. It's unjust. And war is war. If I had to shoot a child to save an army I would. Yes, it would hurt but It had to be done."
Ohio slowly walked up to the smaller state and pulled him into a tight hug. Indiana slowly returned it. "I know that's tough to hear but it's the truth. There are major sacrifices that need to be made sometimes..."
"Alright, I guess I understand."
Wanna get burned

Virgina laid face down in the dirt in front of the Ohioan. A bloody mess, the red liquid only seemed to worsen as he noticed the...
Flames.
They were setting fire to Richmond?!
Ohio grabbed the injured state and tossed him onto the back of his horse. Then he sprinted into the war-torn city. Smoke filled his lungs, and his own vision blurred. He had to get the kid.
Meanwhile, inside the capital, Richmond had been studying law. No one informed her of any possible fire or invasion. A book in hand she smiled contently for a while. Then her face slowly morphed into discomfort. Her skin burned...
Not like it normally tended to during the hot sunny summers. This was painful, Richmond needed to investigate. She limped outside her capital doors and stared in shock. All around her buildings were burning. Was Ohio to blame?
She heard of what the butcher did to his army, her friends, and relatives. She walked further into the flames, growing wearier as she did. Colors meshed together and her eyes seemed to be harder to keep open. Richmond noticed a figure running towards her but she couldn't exactly make out who it was.
The capital gave up trying to stay awake, or alive and fell to the ground. "Oh no, no, no, no!" A voice said, presumably from the figure. Richmond closed her eyes and drifted into a sweet slumber.
I dids a thing-
Richmond is like a kid here too btw-
bai bai :D
