Ohio lent on a large oak tree, the leaves shading him. He opened a bottle of whiskey and taking a swig out of of the bottle. He could see Pennsylvania come over to him, a freshly lit cigarette in between his fingers.

"So the states?" Pennsylvania asked, bringing the cigarette to his mouth.

"Hmm?" Ohio asked, confused.

"It just seems like everything was going so well, we where outnumbering the slave states, and then South Carolina decided to leave and well, here we are." Pennsylvania said, sighing, he didn't like that the southern states where leaving, he hated why they left.

"They can't leave the union, but they did, I just hope it won't turn into something worse, even if it does I won't care that they where once a part of the union, I'll ruin everything for them. Ohio responded, taking another drink from the bottle.

"Anyways, how are you?" Pennsylvania asked, deciding to ask how was after their short conversation.

"Fine, I guess. You?" Ohio responded, looking over at his friend.

"I'm fine." Pennsylvania said, taking another puff of his cigarette.

"I should be on my way, Indiana must be worried sick." Ohio said, straitening his back as he got up to leave.

"That man always seems to miss you." Pennsylvania said, laughing slightly. Ohio laughed in response to the state's statement.

After a while of walking he saw a small house. He opened the wooden door and entered the house. He heard a thud as he saw Indiana place a log into the fireplace. He walked over to him and crouched down, feeling the warmth of the flames coat him.

"It's nice isn't it?" Indiana asked, smiling as he looked over at the taller male.

"Of course it is." Ohio responded, smiling back at his shorter lover.

Ohio stood up, bringing Indiana up with him. He kissed the shorter state gently.

"I missed you." Indiana said, looking up at Ohio.

"I missed you too." Ohio responded, ending the embrace and headed to the kitchen.

Ohio saw a newspaper on the table, he picked up and decided to read it. He skimmed through the words, the words Civil War catching his eyes. He couldn't believe what he just read, had the war really started?! He thought, staring down at the words, the house felt eerily quite.

"I'm assuming you read the news." Indiana called out to Ohio as he broke the silence.
