(Couldn't help myself ok-)
↪Hey!! This is important. Sensitive topics like the civil war and abuse. If you don't wanna read it go ahead and skip.↩
9 states stood before D.C and their former comrades. Their heads thing low. "Why am I not even surprised..." D.C mumbled, the pain lapsed in his voice, clearly noticeable. He raised a lot of these states. Some raised him and... They just left.
All they had...
Gone.
Alabama spoke first, wanting to reason with the man before him. "Listen we-"
"Shut your mouth. I don't want to hear it." D.C growled. "DO YOU SEE WHAT YOUR LITTLE STUNT HAS DONE?!? BRING IT GEORGIA AND SOUTH CAROLINA!!" He yelled. The 9 states' eyes turned locking eyes with a big brown door. "They're dead sir..." North Carolina said slowly turning his head to D.C. He busted out laughing.
"SERIOUSLY?! HELL NO THEY AREN'T DEAD!!" D.C couldn't contain his laughter at this point. Nor did it even sound human. Like the devil himself was present in him.
Slowly 4 other states entered the room. The 9 didn't even notice 2/4 of the state's absence. South Carolina laid limp in new jersey's arm. Mumbling nonsense to himself and messing with his bandages. "Stop that!" N.Y said, carefully moving the state's hand off his hand.
Geo came in moments after, his entire back and chest bandaged. PA was the only thing keeping him standing. He was so bad he couldn't wear shirts. He had pants on so no one knew the damages there but Texas's eyes began watering. Geo whispered something in PA's ear, he nodded. "Geo's voice is almost as bad as South there. He asked if you were alright Texas." Texas didn't reply and just ran up and hugged the peachy state. Sobbing uncontrollably in his chest. Ohio shoved him off. "He's hurt. Dumbass. You could have made his wounds worse."
Geo whimpered a little, snuggling closer to PA. Ohio and Geo haven't completely mended their relationship. That and the taller southerner was scared of him. "W-we didn't mean for it all... To..." Mississippi started but was of course interrupted. When Virginia broke.
He lost a brother.
Then his family.
He couldn't handle it anymore. West ran to his brother wrapping his arms around him in a hug. Something they both needed. "We know you all... Probably had... Some sort of reasoning... Why?" I.D.C pleaded. Trying to hold back her brother.
Texas was the first to speak up. "He made me feel like... I was... Loved. Accepted. Ya know. When I first joined. Then I was just stuck."
Alabama was next. "Confederate was always good with words. He told me I could be important. And said I was special."
One by one states let out their confessions. Being wanted seemed to be their main choice. Having a voice. Soon they realized their voices came at a price.
Then it was the last states' turns. "Georgia, South. We know you in a lot of pain currently... But... Could you tell us why you left?" Kentucky asks. Grabbing Geo's hand.
Geo whispered some things in PA's ear, then the northern spoke.
"He says he wanted a family. A home. Somewhere He felt safe... And where no one fought much or argued. But then Georgia realized it. Especially after he kicked him straight through a door after almost punching him in the face. It wasn't much different from here..."
South mumbled his reasoning to N.J who spoke. "Southie here says he started this thinking it would be a better place for the south. So they could keep their beliefs and dreams with them. However, when the Confederate had become a human he turned his dream into a nightmare." South hit him, with the little strength left in him. Mumbling something along the lines of. "Don't call me that!"
Florida ain't care for this whole dumb war. He ain't care for any of this anymore. He wanted everything to just... Go back to normal. D.C making Coffee adding his seven shots of whiskey, Tex reading the paper, Kentucky and Mary making breakfast, all of it. Even New York to just yell at him. But for some odd reason, the state had been quiet. Taking care of the injured states, instead of being the stone-cold guy, everyone knew.
"GOD DAMN IT!!" Florida yelled, not wanting it to be out loud. But it happened. Florida grabbed D.C by the collar. "FUCKING-YELL AT ME!! DO SOMETHING!! PLEASE!!" The state shook the fed, he just wanted to feel something. Anything. He was sick of the silence that came after N.J finished.
With D.C's silence, his blood boiled. "I DON'T WANNA LOSE YOU AGAIN!! YOU'RE NOT LEAVING!! I'M NOT LEAVING!! NONE OF US ARE!!" Florida wrapped his arms around the fed and wept. Crying a whole river. Louisiana slowly walked up and joined his friend. D.C was caught completely off guard. But he slowly wrapped his arms around the two. Doing his best to comfort them.
Geo let out a small smile. He didn't know if his family was fixed. Need improvements sure. But he was content with what he had. That was until he got kicked in the gut by North Carolina. "NORTH WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" Michigan yelled.
Almost immediately after North hugged Geo. For the first time in forever. No words even needed to be said. North let go of him and ran to his injured brother, snatching him out of N.J's arms and squeezing him. "Brother...?" South muttered. His eyesight was a lot worse. So North looked kinda like a fuzzy person to him. At least he could make out his voice.
"Y-Yeah South. Do-n't ya see me?" South nodded a bit. "The doc said his eyes would improve within about a week or so," Jersey said, South snuggled against his brother's chest. Tiredness just creeping in on him. Eventually, he drifted to sleep. "Where is his room?" North asked. New Jersey lead him out and into the hall.
Meanwhile, the rest of the stares turned to Georgia. Whispering about what could have happened after Atlanta was burned. "He still healing. But at least he's conscious, unlike yesterday." PA said trying to ease everyone's worries.
Mississippi glared at him. "Where are my nieces?!" New York stepped in. "Atlanta is fine. Just a few burns, bruises, and scratches. Savannah seems ok. But we need to keep an eye on his right arm."
"What's wrong with his arm?" Texas asks, wiping away his tears. Geo started frowning a bit. "Most of the skin there is gone. He needs to heal. He may be older but he is smaller." D.C stayed completely silent. Watching. He had nothing else to say.
Florida on the other hand still just wanted something else out of him. Yelling, screaming, talking, anything. He was sick of all this quiet. Georgia whispered something to PA who nodded. "I'm taking peach here back to his bed. He needs some rest." Florida's eyes darted straight at Ohio. "YOU'RE THE REASON THEY'RE LIKE THIS!! IF YOU HADN'T BURNED THEM DOWN-"
"This war... Wouldn't have ended." Ohio growled. Geo tapped PA and pointed to Florida, who was still screaming at the Ohioan man. PA helped him walk up to Florida, Geo placed a hand on his shoulder. Instantly silencing Florida. "It's not his fault. If anything it's mine." Geo mumbled, "If I didn't believe confederate, everyone would be ok. My kids. You guys. It'd be ok."
Florida hugged his father. Might as well be anyway. "I'm sorry dad." D.C smiled, they finished questions and they seemed sorry. Arkansas raised his hand from the crowd. "So... Can we stay?"
Everyone turned to D.C. Who kept his smile. "I don't see why not." 7/8 southern states actually started crying. They thought they might have died, or have been left on their own. Yet D.C was merciful. But Texas...
Wasn't convinced. "Wait. What's the catch?"
"No catch. Just no slavery. And you do have to free the ones you own." Texas huffed. As much as he loved his slaves, he wanted this country back more.
"Deal."
