Day - ??? : Would you be so kind
You paced around your room, glancing at the clock every few minutes. Even now, you still can't believe you actually managed to do it, but your date with Ashle was approaching fast, and your heart raced with nervous excitement. Outside, the fall leaves swirled in vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow, a gentle reminder of the season's change. The crisp air seeped through the slight crack in your window, making you pull your sweater tighter around you. You sat on the edge of your bed, taking a deep breath, desperately trying to calm your thoughts. Images of Ashle's smile and how her eyes light up when she laughs played in your mind, and you can't help but blush.
Y/N: Come on, Y/N, it's just a date. You got this.
You muttered, standing up and straightening your shirt in the mirror.
Y/N: Just be yourself
You grabbed your phone and rechecked the time. There were fifteen minutes until you needed to leave. Your thoughts wandered to Ashle, how she looked at you with those bright eyes, her laughter like music. You shook your head, trying to focus before suddenly, Your phone buzzed with a message. It was from her.
Ashle: "Can't wait to see you! :)"
You smiled at the screen, your heart doing a little flip.
Y/N: Me too.
You typed back before slipping your phone into your pocket. You grabbed your scarf from the back of your chair, wrapping it around your neck as you headed out the door. As you stepped outside, the cool autumn breeze greeted you, the scent of fallen leaves filling the air. You walked down the tree-lined street, the leaves crunching beneath your feet and the anticipation built with each step. The café where you were meeting Ashle was just a few blocks away, a cozy little spot that's perfect for a fall day like this. You loved the way the windows fogged up, the warmth inside contrasting with the chilly air outside. The bell above the door jingled as you entered, and you spotted Ashle sitting at a corner table, her head bent over a book.
Y/N: Hey, Ash.
You tried to keep your voice steady. She looked up and smiled, her eyes instantly lighting up.
Y/N: Of course. I can't keep a lady waiting now, can I?
As you sat across from each other, you couldn't help but notice how she fidgeted with her hair, twirling a loose strand around her finger. She wore a cozy sweater, the sleeves slightly too long, and her cheeks rosy from the cold.
Y/N: So, how's your day been? You get anything back from that professor about the sketch you turned in?
Ashle: Not yet, but I'm hopeful. When I showed it to him, he seemed pretty impressed.
Y/N: Of course he was. Your art's the greatest thing anyone has ever seen.
Ashle: You're just saying that.
Y/N: No, really. I mean every word.
She smiled, and the conversation just seemed to flow effortlessly from there, talking about anything and everything.
Y/N: Hey, you remember when we all tried baking that cake for Kaleb's birthday, and the neighbors called the fire department on us?
Ashle: Oh my gosh, yes! I'm not gonna lie, though. We were kind of lucky that they did because we probably would have burned down the whole neighborhood if they hadn't.
Y/N: Yeah, but it was fun.
A waitress came by with your drinks, and you thanked her, sipping your hot chocolate. The warmth instantly spread through you, contrasting with the chill outside.
Y/N: So, any exciting plans for Halloween?
Ashle: Not really. I was thinking about going to a costume party, but I'm not sure yet. How about you?
Y/N: I'm not really sure either. I might just hang around the shop and go from there, less...maybe you wanna hang out and do something together?
Ashle: I'd love that.
Y/N: Then I guess we got plans after all.
You both smiled, and after a while, you both ended up laying your heads down on the table, the warmth and comfort of the moment settling over you.
Ashle: This is nice.
Y/N: Yeah.
You glanced at her peaceful face. You reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face. She stirred slightly, a soft smile appearing on her lips even in her sleep. You smiled to yourself, feeling a gentle flutter in your chest. Later, you wandered through a nearby park and found a food truck selling crepes. The delicious aroma filled the air, making your stomach growl. The trees around you were a blaze of fall colors, their leaves drifting down like confetti.
Ashle: What flavor are you getting?
Y/N: I think I'll go with the Nutella and strawberry.
Ashle: Good choice! I'm gonna get the same.
You both ordered and quickly got your food, but as you moved to take your first bite, Ashle playfully leaned over and snatched a bite out of your crepe.
Y/N: Hey! That's mine!
She giggled, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
Ashle: Sorry, I couldn't help it. Want to switch?
You blushed, feeling a mix of surprise and slight annoyance, but her smile was infectious.
Y/N: Sure, why not?
Swapping crepes with her, you couldn't help but laugh along, forgetting any irritation, and the day continued with you both stumbling upon a photo booth. You squeezed in together, the small space forcing you close.
Ashle: This is going to be fun.
The camera flashed as you made funny faces, then sweet smiles, and finally, a silly pose with you both sticking out your tongues.
Ashle: These turned out great. Hey, we should do another set, but this time, go as wild as you can with it.
You laughed and agreed, and the two of you squeezed into the booth again. As the camera clicked away, you found yourself lost in the moment, your laughter mingling with hers. The final photo caught you both mid-laugh, eyes closed, faces inches apart. As the sun began to set, you found yourselves walking by a bridge near a river. The scene was picturesque, the water shimmering with the reflection of the fading light.
Ashle: This place is beautiful.
Y/N: Yeah, it really is.
But your eyes were on her. Your heart pounded as you tried to muster the courage to tell Ashle how you felt. You opened your mouth to speak, but the words caught in your throat.
Ashle: What's on your mind?
She asked, turning to face you, her expression curious and gentle.
Y/N: Well, I... I wanted to say...
You took a deep breath, trying to steady your nerves.
Y/N: I really like spending time with you, Ashle. You're amazing.
She smiled, her cheeks tinged with a faint blush.
Ashle: I like spending time with you, too.
You felt a surge of relief and happiness, but before you could say more, you nervously offered to get some drinks from a nearby vending machine, needing a moment to collect yourself.
Y/N: I'll grab us some drinks, okay?
As you bought drinks from the vending machine, five guys approached, clearly looking for trouble. Your heart raced, but you tried to stay calm.
Guy 1: Hey, what do you think you're doing here?
He sneered, stepping closer.
Y/N: Just getting some drinks.
You slowly stood tall, trying to keep your voice calm and steady
Guy 2: Look at this guy, trying to play it cool.
He laughed, nudging his friend.
Y/N: Leave me alone.
Guy 1: Or what?
He challenged, stepping even closer.
Before you could respond, one of the guys shoved you hard, making you stumble back. You struggled to regain your balance, your heart pounding with adrenaline.
Y/N: Hey! Just back off!
You shouted, trying to keep your voice steady.
Guy 1: Or what?
The guy taunted, shoving you again.
Before you could react, Ashle came running over, shoving the guy away from you with surprising strength.
Ashle: Leave him alone!
She yelled, fire in her eyes.
The guys looked taken aback for a moment but quickly recovered, their expressions darkening.
Guy 2: What's your problem, girl?
Ashle: My problem is you messing with my friend. Now, back off.
The guys hesitated, clearly not expecting this kind of resistance. One muttered something under his breath, but they started to back off.
Ashle grabbed your hand, her grip firm and reassuring.
Ashle: Come on, let's get out of here.
She quickly grabbed your hand, pulling you away from the vending machine.
You ran together, your heart pounding from the encounter. As you reached the edge of the bridge, Ashle turned to you, her expression serious but playful.
Ashle: Do you trust me?
You nodded, not entirely sure what she was planning but willing to follow her lead.
Y/N: Of course.
Without another word, she grabbed your hand tightly and jumped off the bridge into the river below. The water was cool and refreshing, and you resurfaced, laughing and catching your breath.
Y/N: That was insane!
You shouted, exhilarated.
Ashle: But fun, right? I'm so glad I had you give me those swimming lessons!
You swam to the shore and collapsed onto the grass, resting your heads on each other's shoulders.
Y/N: That was crazy.
You said, still catching your breath.
Ashle: But fun.
She giggled, her smile brighter than ever.
In that moment, you realized that the words you struggled to say earlier no longer needed to be spoken. The connection you shared was clear, and as you both lay there, you felt a sense of peace and contentment. The day had been an adventure filled with laughter, surprises, and the beginnings of something beautiful.
Y/N: So, what now?
You asked, looking up at the sky, the stars beginning to twinkle.
Ashle: Now...we just enjoy this.
