Day 8: By the water

The next day dawned with a sense of tranquility in the air. You woke up feeling refreshed and excited for another day of exploration and discovery on the Far, Far Range. Today, you had a plan to relax by the tranquil waters of the Slime Sea, a place that had always drawn you in with its calming waves and mesmerizing beauty.

Carrying a blanket and some snacks, you made your way to the edge of the Slime Sea. The sun was rising, casting a golden hue over the water, and a gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the nearby trees. As you set up your little spot, you couldn't help but feel a deep sense of peace wash over you.

Y/N: This is the life: just me, the water, and a whole lot of serenity.

You stretched out on the blanket, propping yourself up on your elbows as you gazed out at the endless expanse of the Slime Sea. The water sparkled and shimmered, reflecting the colors of the sky above. It was a sight that could calm even the busiest of minds.

With a contented sigh, you reached for a book you had brought along and began to read, losing yourself in the pages as the gentle lapping of the water served as a soothing background melody. Time seemed to slow down as you immersed yourself in the story, occasionally taking breaks to nibble on the snacks you had brought.

As the morning wore on, you started to feel a sense of peaceful drowsiness. The combination of the warm sun, the rhythmic sound of the waves, and the quiet ambiance of the Slime Sea were starting to lull you into a light doze. You close your book and lay back, letting yourself relax completely.

Just as you were about to drift off, a sudden movement caught your attention. You blinked and sat up, rubbing your eyes to make sure you weren't imagining things. On the edge of the water were some small, gelatinous creatures with wide, innocent eyes. Puddle Slimes, you realized. You had heard about them but never encountered them before.

Y/N: Well, hello there, little guys. Aren't you adorable?

The Puddle Slimes seemed to be playing around in the shallow water, splashing and giggling in their own slimy way. Their translucent bodies glistened with moisture, and their gooey forms wobbled with every movement. You couldn't help but chuckle at their antics.

Curious, you slowly approached the Puddle Slimes, careful not to startle them. As you got closer, they seemed to notice you and hopped a bit closer, their eyes filled with curiosity and friendliness. You extended a hand, and one of the Puddle Slimes cautiously bounced onto your palm, leaving a wet, cool sensation behind.

Y/N: Well, aren't you a friendly little blob?

The Puddle Slime gurgled happily, seemingly content in your presence. You gently placed it back on the ground, and it hopped away to join its companions. Watching them play made you realize just how interconnected this world was, with its unique creatures and landscapes. As you continued to watch the Puddle Slimes, your vacpack buzzed with an incoming call. You reached for it and activated the holographic interface, revealing Beatrix's smiling face.

Beatrix: Hey there, Y/N! Looks like you're having a relaxing day by the water.

Y/N: Hey, Beatrix! Yeah, it's been really nice. Just taking a break and enjoying the view.

Beatrix: That sounds wonderful. I'm glad you're taking some time for yourself. Oh, and by the way, I saw your message about that key you found. It's actually a special kind of slime key. They're pretty rare and can unlock hidden areas with valuable resources along with more of the Far Far Range for you to explore.

Y/N: Oh, that's great to know! Thanks for the info.

Beatrix: No problem. Keep an eye out for more of those keys. You never know what you might discover.

As you chatted with Beatrix, the Puddle Slimes seemed to grow more comfortable with your presence. They approached you curiously, bouncing around your feet and leaving small puddles of water behind. It was a unique and endearing experience, being surrounded by these playful, gooey creatures.

Beatrix: Well, Y/N, I'll let you get back to your relaxation time. Take care out there, and keep having those adventures!

Y/N: Thanks, Beatrix! You take care too. I'll catch up with you later.

The holographic call ended, and you placed your vacpack aside. You leaned back, allowing the gentle sounds of the Slime Sea and the cheerful giggles of the Puddle Slimes to fill the air. With a smile on your face, you closed your eyes, feeling completely at peace in this strange and wonderful world you now called home.

.....

Y/N: Come on, Ash, hurry up and jump in already; my arms are starting to get tired.

You stood there with your arms stretched out, and half your body rested submerged in the waters of the refreshing pool while the hot summer sun cooked you alive. You waited patiently for god knows how long now for Ashle to jump in, only now adding nervous pacing to the mix.

Ash: I don't know, Y/N what if I drown or something

You scoffed at her lame attempt at an excuse and rolled your eyes, smiling playfully at her.

Y/N: Ashle, you can literally stand in the water alongside me. I promise you you're not going to drown.

Ashle: Says the one who can swim no matter what!

Y/N: Even if I couldn't swim, I could freaking stand here! Plus, isn't that why you wanted to come to the pool in the first place today? I can't really teach you how to swim if you don't get in.

Ashle pouted, clearly torn between her fear and her desire to learn. You could see the determination in her eyes, but her fear of the water was holding her back. You decided it was time to take matters into your own hands.

Y/N: Alright, fine. If you won't jump in, I guess I'll have to come over there and drag you in myself.

With that, you took a step closer to the edge where Ashle was standing. She let out a surprised yelp and took a step back, but you moved quickly, grabbing her hand and giving her a playful tug. Before she could react, you were both stumbling into the water, sending waves splashing in all directions.

Ashle: You fucking asshole you did not just do that!

Y/N: Oh I 100 percent just did, and look, you're still alive!

She playfully glared at you, her eyes sparkling with annoyance toward you.

Ashle: You're right, but you're dead as hell, Y/N!

Y/N: Wait no Ash stop it was just a joke, don't d- AAAAAHH!!!

10 minutes later you emerge from the water hanging onto the side of the pool gasping for air while Ashle doggy paddled along happily.
