CHAPTER THREE
evil robot

Marlee's laughter died down when the sound of something like a machine creeking was heard, and it was loud. It was like an alarm that pained someone's ears. "Worthy." The voice was dark, unsettling. "No, how could you be worthy? You're all killers." She didn't know what this was or why Tony's machine's all the sudden turned into this, but she knew that what it said wasn't true. She had never killed anyone.

"Stark," Marlee looked to her brother when Steve spoke, telling him to do something. That made Tony call for Jarvis. "I'm sorry, I was asleep. Or... I was a-dream?" Everything this machine, this robot was saying, it didn't make sense. She never was the smartest out of her family but she did know things and she didn't understand what the robot meant. "Reboot, Legionnaire OS, we got a buggy suit." To my tapped the device, trying to get rid of it.

Marlee's eyes shifted back to the corrupted machine, watching it carefully. "There was this terribly noise. And I was tangled in.. in strings. I had to kill the other guy. He was a good guy." She didn't understand, they were the only ones in the building. So, what did they mean? "You killed someone?"

"Wouldn't have been my first call. But, down in the real world, we're faced with ugly choices." That didn't mean you should go as far as to kill someone, to end a person's life. "Who sent you?" Thor asked, Marlee wanted to know that answer too. "I see a suit of armor around the world." It was Tony's voice. The machine had played his voice, something she never heard him say.

She looked to Tony again but it was like he was avoiding all eye contact with her. What the hell was he hiding? They didn't hide anything from each other. "Ultron." That made her look to Banner, then to the machine. "In the flesh. Or, no, not yet. Not this chrysalis. But I'm ready. I'm on mission." Marlee slowly moved back, looking to Thor who gripped his hammer and then to Maria who stood up.

She looked back to her brother, he still wasn't looking towards her. "What mission?" Natasha asked what she knew as Ultron now. "Peace in our time," Before Marlee could even utter a word out on what he meant, the wall bursted open and more of Tony's machines flew in. That made them all quickly grab any weapon they could get, Marlee grabbing one of the guns from under the couch.

This would definitely be added to the list of reasons on why she didn't come to her brother's parties. She heard a loud crash as she ran up the stairs, quickly hiding behind a wall to see Rhodey had gotten thrown through the window. She made sure the gun had enough bullets, putting the case back in and turning the safety off.

So much was happening at once, Marlee took a dip breath before turning and shooting at one that was flying towards her a ducked. "God, can't we have one moment of peace?" She mumbled in frustration before she was knocked over by another robot. She saw one of the last ones grab the scepter before flying off, making her quickly stand up.

She shot at it as much as she could but it did nothing. Steve jumped on one of the others, only to fall down. Before she knew it, Tony was running and jumped on one. "Stark!" Steve yelled but Tony looked a little busy. "One sec, one sec. I got this." He spoke over the robot's words it kept repeating. Tony then stabbed it with whatever he had and all the sudden fell to the ground.

Marlee saw another, shooting at that one, it was the last one. Clint threw Steve's sheild towards he which made him quickly throw it at the robot and it was spilt in half. "That was dramatic." She forgot Ultron was there.. "I'm sorry, I know you mean well. You just didn't think it through."All though Marlee had her gun powerful due to being out of bullets, she still had a tight grip on it.

"You want to protect the world, but you don't want it to change. How is humanity saved if it's not allowed to evolve?" He bent down, grabbing the head of one of the destroyed suits. "With these? These puppets." Then he had smashed the head, and threw it back to the ground. "There's only one path to peace. The Avengers extinction." Just those words made Marlee flinch back slightly, Thor threw his hammer towards Ultron and he was crushed.

"I had strings, but now I'm free."
