Two.

You stood in front of the bathroom mirror, finishing the last touches to your school uniform. Because you were attending Raira Academy, you had to wear the school uniform as it was part of the dress code. You adjusted the uniform to make sure no tags were sticking out, unit shirt wasn't wrinkled, anything that would embarrass you if somebody pointed it out.

You slung your (f/c) messenger bag over your shoulder before sighing. "Time for school," you muttered before heading out of your apartment.

You stood in front the classroom, by the teacher's desk as they introduced you to the class. Your name was written in chalk on the chalkboard so they know who you are. "Class," your homeroom teacher introduced. "This is (Y/n) (L/n). (She/He/They) came from (home country). Starting today, they will be a part of our class and our school. Class, say hello to (L/n)."

"Hello, (L/n)-san!" The class chorused.

You thought it was peculiar that everyone referred you by your last name, but you reminded yourself that in Japan, people typically refer non-family members by their last name if they didn't know them that well. You were tempted to tell them that it was okay to call you by your first name, but the teacher interrupted you. "Now, (L/n) let's find a spot for you--"

"Teach!" An excited make voice cut through the air. You eyed the boy with blonde hair in the boy's Raira uniform. "The new student can sit next to me!"

"Right," they cleared their throat. "(L/n), there's a spot by Kida. You can sit there."

You made your way over to the blonde teen and sat down, smoothing out your uniform while taking out papers and a pencil. The teacher resumed class and you began scribbling down notes from the lesson so you can study later.

It was lunchtime. All the students had left the class while you and a few others lingered. You stood up and bowed at the blonde teen who offered you a spot next to him. "Thank you for letting me sit next to you...um..." you thanked him. But you didn't know his name, so it was quite awkward.

He gave you a perplexed look but smiled. "Masaomi. Masaomi Kida," he introduced himself to you.

"Kida-kun. Thank you for letting me sit next to you."

"What's with the formalities? Call me by my first name, Masaomi. And forget the honorifics while you're at it."

You blushed at how kind Masaomi was. First he let you call him in a way that was only reserved for friends and without honorifics. You wondered if he had many friends because of it. "I-I'm (Y/n) (L/n)," you introduced yourself, stuttering for no reason.

"Don't worry, I remembered your name," Masaomi laughed. "But thanks for the reminder."

"Wow. Usually, people forget within five minutes of class."

"You're so beautiful, how could I forget your name?"

You blushed an even darker shade of pink from as Masaomi laughed at your flustered reaction. "Don't worry," a voice assured you. "He like that with everyone he thinks is cute."

You turned around to see a boy with black hair and a girl with black hair and glasses approach the two of you. "Hello, (L/n)-san, I'm Mikado Ryugamine."

"A-And I'm Anri Sonohara," the girl with glasses whispered shyly. "We're Masaomi's friends."

"Ryugamine-kun and Sonohara-chan...it's a pleasure to meet the both of you," You greeted the two.

"It must be awkward for you to call us by our last names, since it's not a custom for you in (home country)," Mikado laughed. "You can call the three of us by our first names without honorifics."

"Hey! Copycat!" Masaomi yelled. "I made the same offer to (her/him/them), you know! Are you trying to win (L/n)-san over also?"

"Wha-wha...?" You blushed profusely.

"Masaomi's kidding," Anri assured you. "He's just a little flirt."

"And just to let you know, I'm a single pringle and ready to mingle," Masaomi smiled, thumbing at himself.

You chuckled and blushed once again at the flirty comment. These three are lots of fun. You wondered if it would be alright to sit with them for lunch, but, then again, those three seem pretty close so they might not be welcome to a stranger like you.

"Hey, are you going to sit in here for lunch?" Mikado asked.

You nodded. "It's fine--"

"No it's not!" Masaomi interrupted you. "You should not be eating lunch alone in a classroom! Come with us-we eat on the rooftop!"

"R-Really?" You asked.

The three nodded. You gave them a happy closed-eye smile. "Thank you!" You laughed.

"So, (L/n)-san," Anri asked you. The four of you sat on a metal bench under the cool shade of a large tree looming above the wired fence on the rooftop.

"Call me (Y/n)," you smiled sweetly.

"Oh, no, I couldn't—"

"Why not? You three let me call you by your first names, so wouldn't it be polite for me to do the same?"

"Anyways, (Y/n), have you had time to explore Ikebukuro?"

"Hm...not yet. I just moved here yesterday."

"In that case--"

"I'll give you a tour!" Masaomi offered.

Anri looked confused at Masaomi. He just finished her sentence. "Don't worry, Mikado and Anri, I'll take care of her!" He gave them a thumbs up. "You two been so busy these past few days that you both haven't gone out yet. You guys deserve a break. Take the night off. Go out on a date or something. Leave (Y/n) to me!"

Mikado and Anri blushed at the part when he mentioned they could go out in a date or something. Masaomi craned his head towards you and gave you a flirtatious wink. You couldn't help but laugh at his attitude. It seemed like your first day of school wasn't so bad after all.
