Twelve.

It's been a week since Anri came over to your house and left suddenly, and you still baffled by her actions. It seemed to be the start of a strange week. Masaomi seemed like he always had somewhere to go after school, sometimes cutting class as well, and Anri seemed like she was trying to avoid him. You and Mikado were unfortunately caught in the middle and were confused at what's going on between the friend group. It's amazing that after one week, it feels like a huge rift formed between the four of you.

You were walking home, alone again, deep in thought. "(L/n)-san? Is that you?" A cool, alluring voice cut deep into your thoughts.

Your head perked up and you turned around to see Izaya by the corner of the block you just passed. He waved at you to grab your attention before jogging up to you. Masaomi's warning to avoid Izaya played through your head and you panicked. You were alone and Izaya was heading right straight towards you. You have to come up with an excuse quick to get out of his grasps. "Hello, (L/n)," he smiled at you, placing a hand in your shoulder. "Been quite a while since we last met. Sorry you had to witness me and Shizu-chan fighting-it's a regular thing we do."

"Um..." you stuttered for a response. "I-I'm sorry," you apologized quickly. "But I have to head to work right now! My boss isn't someone who tolerates employees who are tardy, haha..."

"What are you talking about?" Izaya asked, perplexed at your lame excuse. "You don't have to work today. In fact, your next shift is this Saturday, right?"

You paled instantly. How did he know that? "H-H-How did you...no...are you a stalker?!" You cried, trying to jump away from you. But, he had a death grip on your shoulder that prevented you from moving.

He laughed, amused at your nervous reaction. "No, I'm an information broker," he explained. "I sell information about anything to anyone if they pay the right amount. Masaomi was one of my former frequent customers. We had a rocky end, which is why we haven't talked in ages. I'm assuming he told you to avoid me for that reason?"

You froze, because Izaya was spot on. He laughed at your silent response. "W-What do you want with me?" You asked.

"Oh, I don't want anything," Izaya shrugged, circling you. "I'm here to explain to you what's been going on for the past week. Masaomi's been fading in and out of your friend group. Anri has been trying to avoid Masaomi. And, poor you and Mikado are stuck in the middle. You see, last Monday Anri went on a 'errand', but in reality she went out and followed Masaomi to see what was going on with him. Because of that, she discovered a terrible secret Masaomi has been hiding from all of you."

"T-That's impossible! He's so open, he would never lie and keep--"

"Well, I've known him for nearly a year prior to you all, and I was there when he was a leader of a color gang."

You froze, pupils dilating. It couldn't be true, right? The flirty, happy-go-lucky, carefree blonde was a leader of a gang? "He used to be the leader of the Yellow Scarves," Izaya continued. "After some drama between them and the Blue Squares, both gangs died out. But, the Yellow Scarves have been active lately and been picking fights with the Dollars, and it's all because Masaomi decided to return back to his gang days. Old habits die hard, am I correct?"

"No..." you trembled. "That's not true...this must be a misunderstanding...a coincidence...anything but that!"

"Oh, but it is true," Izaya smirked, tossing you a folded piece of paper. "On that paper I threw to you is a a place I want you to meet someone you can tell you all about Masaomi. Trust me; they know all about him. Maybe even more than his own best friend."

You stood there, shaking as Izaya gave you a childish goodbye wave before skipping off. You wanted to chuck that piece of paper far away from you and pretend what just happened never happened, but curiosity got the better of you. You unfolded the piece of paper and read the address. It was to Raira General Hospital and it had a certain room number to go to. You followed the paper's direction and headed to your destination.

*~*~*~*~*~

You got to the room with no trouble at all. The sun was beginning to sink, painting the sky a fiery-orange and making the clouds look like pieces of fluffy cotton candy. You opened the hospital room door and stepped in. On a bed, a teenage girl with charcoal-colored hair cut in a bob cut and grey eyes turned to face you. She wore a teal hospital gown and was sitting up on a bed. "Are you (L/n) (Y/n)-san?" She asked.

Hesitantly, you nodded a brief yes. She smiled, smoothing out the blankets. "Izaya said you'd come," she explained. "Hello, my name is Saki Mikajima."
