Nine.
You were tapping your pencil against your head as you were working through your homework. For some reason, today you were going through your homework more slowly than usual. Today wasn't your day, you decided.
You looked up through your apartment window and saw the evening sky peeking through the green curtains of the leaves on the tree by the window. It probably was nice out, since fall was coming, and the night air would be cool for once.
You looked down at your assignment and up at the window, quickly making a decision. You got up from your study desk, throwing on a jacket on your way out as you made you way out of your stuffy apartment and outside to clear you head for a while.
You wound your way through the busy people in Ikebukuro, taking in the coolness of the evening. It felt relaxing to you are you explored Ikebukuro, no destination in thought. Soon, you found yourself in the middle of a busy square of Ikebukuro. You decided then it was time for you to head back home and turned around, pushing the people in front in of you so you can go back to your apartment.
Then, you head someone's phone dinged, as if they received a message. Whosoever phone that was probably left the notification alarm on max. But, the dinging got louder and louder as the seconds passed. You realized that it wasn't one person's phone dinging, it was multiple people who's phone was dinging. Your phone dinged as well, as if it decided to join in with the chorusing phones. It sounded like everyone in the square of Ikebukuro's phone was dinging. You wondered; who could the emailer be and why did they had to send an email to everyone here?
You pulled out your phone, scrolled to emails, and there was a little red dot on top, signaling that had a email from somebody. You pulled open your email and opened the one you received. As you read the message, your eyes widened at what you were reading.

Everyone not looking at their cell right now is an
enemy. Don't attack them. Just watch quietly.
You looked up from your phone. It seemed like everyone had their phones out and reading the message. Then, like programmed robots, they followed your example and looked up from their cell, trying to figure out who's the odd one out. It was an impossible task, but ever so rarely, there was somebody who didn't have their cell out, but just like whoever sent the email-the leader of the group, assuming from the email-they didn't attack. They just watched. You looked around in amazement at those who had their phones out. There were that many people in the Dollars? It seemed like an impossible reality to have a whole square be apart of the Dollars.
"(Y/n)!" A familiar voice called for you.
You turned to see Mirai and Kaito making their way through the crowd to get where you are. "You have you're phone out," Mirai noticed, checking her phone to reread the email.
"No freaking way!" Scarlett asked. "You're part of the Dollars?"
"Yup," you nodded.
"Holy shit-I never expected you to be one of us!" Mirai gasped.
"Well, I don't going around making a scene that I'm a part of them like the weirdos here, right?" You shrugged. "Anyways, is Patricia one of them?"
"I don't know," Kaito looked around. "I haven't seen her. She's probably at home or somewhere else. Anyways, we gotta bounce. See ya on the flip side."
Kaito and Mirai waved goodbye before leaving. You waved a small, respectful goodbye to them before clinging to your phone and smiling. It was nice knowing that you weren't alone in being apart of the Dollars. Seeing all these people-heck, a whole square-showing that they are part of the Dollars, made you feel less guilty about it. Plus, you found a couple friends who were part of them as well! You wondered if Mikado and Anri were members as well, just not present right now. Masaomi probably isn't because of what he told you whenever you toured Ikebukuro.
It's a weird saying that you being part of the Dollars feels like you're part of a big family, as you didn't even know 99.99% of the people who were checking their phones. Community described the feeling better. You being part of the Dollars made you feel like you were a part of a important community. And it was a good feeling.
