That evening.

Sarah went to do some laundry leaving Jessica and her mother alone.

Jessica walks over to the bassinet to check on the babies.

"I know I made them, so of course I'll feel this way, but.. These two are the cutest little babies I've ever seen!"

Jessica smiles and Dorothy takes a deep breath.

"Jess, you know you can come to me and tell me about anything, right?"

"Of course."

"Okay so do it."

"Do what?"

"Tell me everything that's been going on."

"Well not much. I mean I'm just busy with the babies, and you know the whole deal with Sam and I."

"Jessie, would you just tell me! I know!"

"You know what?"

"I really don't want to be the one to say it, I want you to feel comfortable enough to tell me."

"Mom, about what?"

"I saw you and Sarah kissing!" Dorothy blurts out as Sarah walks downstairs.

"Um.." Sarah's eyes widen.

"Oh! Oh..." Jessica suddenly becomes awkward.

"I um.. I don't know what to do. I'll give you some time to talk." Sarah quickly walks back upstairs.

"No Sarah, come back down here!" Dorothy says while Jessica sits there still in shock.

Sarah slowly walks back and Dorothy tells her to sit down.

"Mom, I.. I was gonna tell you, but I just needed time--"

"No, don't worry about it. I just want you to know that it's okay. I'm not going to love you any differently, I'm very happy that you're happy."

"Of course!  You're my daughter and I want what makes you happy.
I did have some idea of what was going on because you two seemed a lot closer than usual; you know with the hugging last night and Sarah practically laying on top of you this morning.."

Jessica looks at Sarah and lightly elbows her.

"But when I saw you kissing each other, I knew my suspicions were correct."

Jessica chuckles and says, "I'm sorry I didn't say anything.  Like I said j just needed time, but now that I know you know I am so relieved!"

"Well good!  Now I know, so you can stay with Jessica tonight, Sarah. I know that's why you were pouting, little girl." Dorothy points her finger at Jessica.

"How did you know?" Sarah laughs.

"Jessie likes her cuddles. She was a cuddly baby, she was a toddler! She's always been a cuddle bug." Dorothy smiles at Jessica.

"That's true!" Jessica says cutely.

"That's really cute." Sarah smiles at her.

"Yeah.. Hey, you better get a little nap in while these babies are out."

"Yeah, you're right. Thanks mom." Jessica walks over and hugs her.

Dorothy holds her tight and and kisses her cheek.

"I love you so so much."

"I love you too, mom."

A week and a half has passed and it was time for Dorothy to head back to Minnesota.

Dorothy wanted more than anything for Jessica and the babies to come back with her, but she knows that New York is her home now and that she's happy there with Sarah.

"You're welcomed any time, Mrs. Lange." Sarah hugs her.

"Oh thank you, sweetie.  You two need to come and visit Minnesota too!"

"We'll try mom.
Thank you again... For everything." Jessica gives her a long and tight hug.

One week later.

"Sarah, I'm so nervous about Sam moving here.  It really makes me sick just thinking about it."

"I'm sorry, Jess.  I really don't know what to tell you.. Just know that you and the babies will be okay.  He can't take them.. We Won't let him take them."

A couple days have passed and Sarah was getting ready to head out to run some errands.

"Is this all you need, babe?" Sarah asks picking up a list from the table.

"Yes! Thank you so much."

"No problem. Do you want me to pick up some dinner?"

"Would you please? I hate that we eat out so much, but with these two it's kinda hard to cook every single night."

"It's okay! What do you feel like?"

"Anything. Just surprise me."

"Okay! I'll be back."

Sarah walks over to the couch where Jessica was with the twins and pecks her lips.

"Be careful."

"I will! Bye munchkins!" Jessica says in a high pitched voice before kissing their heads.

Jessica struggled to get the twins to go down for a nap, and when she finally did she heard a knock on the door.

She opens the door and gasps lightly.

"Sam! What are you doing here?"

"To see my kids, why else would I be here?" Sam says just letting himself in.

"Uh come in!"

"Oh sorry, can I come in?"

Jessica scoffs and rolls her eyes.

"They're not up?! Come on, wake up daddy's here!" He smiles.

"Shh! Would you lower your voice! It took me forever to get them to go down for a nap!"

"Alright!" Sam raises his eyebrows then rolls his eyes.

"I guess I'll sit here with you and talk until they wake up."

"Great..." She looks down and speaks in a low voice.

"So.. You still have a lot of baby weight to lose." Sam says looking her body up and down.

Jessica was taken back by what he said and was of course extremely offended.

"Who says that to someone?! I'm the mother of your children, have some respect."

"Sorry."

Suddenly they hear a soft cry.

"Aw Addy, you just went to sleep!" Jessica whines.

"How'd you know it was her?"

"I know their cries." Jessica says walking over to the bassinet before she woke Nathaniel up.

"Shh, shh.. Don't cry, mama's here."

"Let me hold her, Jess."

Jessica was hesitant at first but ended up letting him hold her.

"Yeah I know. I wish you would have discussed their names with me before you made it official."

"No! I'm spending time with my children, fuck off."

Addelyn was still screaming and her heart ached for her baby.

"Sam, she's gonna make herself sick and wake up Nathan, will you please just hand her to me!"

"No! She'll calm down in a second!"

Jessica sighs and watches his every move.

Jessica didn't trust one bone in his body. She hated herself for allowing him in, and especially letting him hold her.

Nathaniel woke up from his sisters piercing cry, so Jessica went over and picked him up.

Sam, I need to feed them."

"Will you leave?"

At this time Sarah was just arriving.

Sam looked at her and didn't say a word before looking down at his screaming daughter.

"Here, would you like me to take her and calm her down?" Sarah quickly drops the groceries and hurries over to Sam.
Even though Sarah was not their mother she had helped Jessica with them since birth, so the babies were already extremely close to her and would go to her without a problem.

"No I've got it." Sam moves away in a fast motion.

"Okay! Just trying to help. Sorry."

"She's my daughter, I think I can calm her down."

"Sam will you give her to Sarah!"

"Why?"

"Why? Because you've been holding her for a while and she's still screaming! She doesn't know you and she's not comfortable. Give her to Sarah!" Jessica says in a more demanding voice.

Sam gives in and hands her over.

Sarah lightly bounces her and speaks in a soft voice.

"Hi baby girl.. It's okay, don't cry. You're fine, Princess!"

Addelyn immediately stops crying and just stares at Sarah.

"Yeah! It's all better, you see? Heh! You're such a precious girl." Sarah kisses her head and holds her close to her body.

"Thank you, Hun." Jessica smiles.

Sam stands there with a furious look on his face and Jessica asks, "Now will you leave? You came to tell me that I'm fat and to wake your children. Thanks."

Sam scoffs and walks out of the house.

Jessica rolls her eyes and looks down to get Nathaniel situated.

"Are you okay? I'm so sorry I left you alone."

"No, you didn't know.. I'm fine."

After Sam left, Sarah had noticed that Jessica was very quiet, but she didn't mention anything because they were busy with the babies.

Once the twins were put back to sleep Jessica went upstairs to her room and sat on the bed.

Sarah was worried about so she went up to check on her.

Jessica nods and Sarah steps into the room.

"You want some dinner? It might be cold by now but I can hear it up!" She smiles softly.

"No it's okay, I'm not hungry."

"Nothing."

"I know he said something. Please don't listen to him. You're beautiful just the way you are."

"I mean, he's right. I could stand to lose some weight. It's just hard because I'm so busy with the babies."

"Honey, you don't need to do anything! I love your body and you should too."

"My stomach used to be so toned.. and I had nice perky boobs.. I don't look like that anymore. I don't recognize this person.." Jessica looks down at her body.

"Listen to me. You are gorgeous. You held two babies inside of you for nine long months! That's a beautiful thing, and you should be proud of your beautiful body.. I know I am."

"You are?"

"Of course I am! Pregnancy and birth is such a beautiful thing. It's definitely something to be proud of."

Jessica smile gives her a soft smile and Sarah pats her leg.

"Let's go eat." She takes her hand and they walk downstairs.

That night, the babies were both fed and sleeping peacefully. Sarah was reading a book and Jessica was just relaxing.

Jessica looked over at Sarah and took her book from her, and set it down on the nightstand.
Sarah looked at her and Jessica went to her lips and kissed them softly.
