Chapter 8

Thanks to my editor Maya_2011.

The door opened and smacked loudly. I woke with a scream. I was full of sweat. I knew I'd be having nightmares of the attack, but I didn't imagine they'd feel so real. I didn’t imagine I'd be able to feel its breath on my skin or see the rage in its eyes.

I never imagined that I'd experience the pain of my quadriceps being ripped away from my leg again.

I was terrified when I looked over at my intruder. It could've been one of those many guys that made remarks as Chris carried me through, so I was instantly on guard.

I heard mutterings, but I couldn't understand it with my sleep fogged brain.

Then a hand grabbed my upper arm. I just reacted. I wouldn't be entertainment for one of those -guys. I slapped the arm away then leapt onto my would-be attacker. I had training.

I knew how to defend myself.

I was on a large back with my arm firmly around his neck, trying my best to choke this guy out.

Large hands reached over and grabbed me by the back of my shirt. With a heave I was yanked over my attacker and slammed onto my back. Luckily, I was just slammed onto the bed. The hands pinned me to the bed, but it didn't matter. I struggled anyway.

"Give me a break woman." A deep voice complained.

I recognized that voice, so I stopped struggling. When I actually focused on the person I was slightly embarrassed.

It was Mr. Green-Eyes...and he was way too close for comfort.

"Did you really have to scare the shit out of me like that?!" I screamed. "I was trying to hurt you!"

He smirked. "A lot of good that did. You didn't even scratch me."

"You could've been anyone!"

"Yeah, but I'm not. There's no way that you could hurt me."

"Well, was that entrance really necessary? Do you not know how to knock?"

"I definitely know how to knock, I just choose not to." He was definitely getting on my nerves now.

"Let go of me!"

He looked at his hands, still holding me down. He got up and took a step back. "Get dressed."

"Why? What are we doing today?"

"We're training." He said with a smile. "Which means that you're going to hate me at the end of the day."

"Yes, well that won't be much of a stretch."

He turned and left, slamming the door behind him.

He's very moody. The voice said. We like him.

Do we have to do this now? I thought, hoping that maybe this voice couldn't hear my thoughts.

Joy shot through me and I had no idea why. You talked to me! The voice rejoiced.

Mason banged on the door. "Hurry up! You're not even moving in there."

"Untwist your panties!" I yelled at him. "I'll be ready when I'm ready!"

He growled at my response. I got out of bed and tugged on a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt.

When I opened the door, he was standing against the door frame, like his hovering would hasten me.

"Took you long enough."

"You could be more patient."

He raised his brows as he looked over at me. "You think I'm going to listen to you?"

"No. But it was worth the try."

He looked away, "Let's go."

So I followed him out. "Is it necessary to wear sweatpants all the time?"

He didn't look back at me.

"So you're just going to ignore me? That's real mature."

He didn't even acknowledge that he heard me. It wasn't until we got outside that he answered me. "Yes it's necessary to wear sweatpants and I can ignore you if I want to."

-------------

"So how is this training supposed to happen?"

"Usually we don't have to teach new wolves how to control themselves. They're usually here to learn how to fight for and defend the packs that they are getting assigned to." He smiled. "So this is going to be a learning process for the both of us."

I stared at him wide eyed. "You don't know what you're doing?!" I yelled.

"I thought the whole point of this was that you knew what you were doing!"

He shrugged. "It's ok. You can't run faster than I can follow."

"That's not exactly comforting."

"First you need to call your wolf to the surface."

"How?"

"Close your eyes and focus."

So I did that. I focused and focused until I got frustrated. I opened my eyes and looked at him. "It's not working."

"You're not trying hard enough." He said simply.

I glared at him, "Well you're not exactly helping very much."

He shrugged, "I can't tell you how to do everything. You're going to have to figure it out."

"Didn't you have any help when you changed?"

He shrugged. "My brothers and I were changed all at once. We nearly killed each other trying to figure everything out."

I groaned. Was he really not going to help me out? "Well how did you do it?"

"I took control over my wolf. I made sure he knew that I was the one under control or we'd die."

I shook my head. This was useless. Mason was the worst teacher I could ever imagine.

Three hours later...

"You useless asshole!" I shouted. He looked away from me, toward the other group of men. "You're not helping me and you're just sitting there with that stupid ass smile on your face."

"Arguing with me isn't going to help." He didn't even get up from where he was sitting.

I stormed up to him and towered over him. "Get off your ass and help me!"

He just sat here. He didn't even look over at me. So I kicked his boot. That got his attention.

He looked at me and glared. "What?"

"Seriously!" I looked at the group he'd been staring at. "If you want to go, then go! I don't need you here! You're not even giving me any advice!"

In a flash my back was against the tree he'd been leaning against. I hadn't even noticed him stand, he was just there, pinning me down with no hope of getting free.

"You're hurting me." I complained.

He pressed against me harder. "You're going to stop yelling at me." I struggled. His eyes lightened a few shades. "I'm not going to allow you to keep disrespecting me in front of others."

"They're not even looking over here!"

He pressed against me even more. It felt like I was going to leave a sunken depression spot in this tree.

"They have been doing this long enough to know how to pay attention to their surrounding environment. They've been keeping an ear in this direction because you're a girl."

He grabbed my face and forced me to look over at the group. "Wave at her."

It was a few seconds before they all started waving.

"See they know what to do. Compared to them you're being a whiney little brat. If you were a guy I would've already kicked your ass."

Let's kill him. The voice growled in my head.

I wholeheartedly agreed.

I kneed him in the groin, making him stumble back a couple steps. He bent over in pain.

"What the fuck?!"

I brought my knee up to his face. It should've broken his nose. But then again, I didn't account for the fact that he's a werewolf. I didn't know what it took to break the bones of werewolves.

He knocked my legs out with one swipe of his arm. I landed hard on the ground.

Should've hit him harder. The voice muttered.

Where were you? I was calling for you!

Well I didn't hear you.

Mason put his huge boot on my chest, pressing me into the ground with uncomfortable force. He was hunched over holding his package. "If you ever try something like that again, I won't go easy on you."

"You should learn to be a better teacher." I grunted with the effort to try to lift his boot of my chest, but he pressed more weight into me.

"I'm a great teacher." He smiled as he grinded me into the dirt. "Your wolf has ascended, even if it was only in the desire to try to kick my ass."

"You can't take credit for that."

I took a deep breath in when he took his boot off my chest. He crouched over me, "There's nothing that happens that I don't want to."

"So you wanted me to knee your balls."

He smiled, "Well that wasn't exactly part of the plan. I expected you to try to slap me or something."

"You're an asshole."

He nodded. "Of course I am. Why do you think I'm so successful?"

"I didn't know you were successful at anything. You've just been stuck with the new girl while the rest of the guys actually have something important to do."

He sighed unhappily. "I warned you." He stood off to the side. "Get up." He ordered.

I did making sure I kept an eye on him. If he made a move, I wanted to stop him.

"Go to the compound."

"We're not supposed to be done until later." I complained. I wanted to get this training done so I could go live my life away from here.

"You should behave. I'm not going to waste my time on someone who is nothing but a pain in my ass."

"Fine." I huffed and started making my way back got the compound.  I stood by the keypad and waited for him to punch in his number.

Once he got me to my room, he shoved me in and locked the door behind me.

"I don't need him." I stated grumpily.

Let's practice changing

"I have to stay awake."

The wolf grumbled. I must sleep while you are human.

This is my body first.
