xlviii. so he asks

CHAPTER XLVIII:
so he asks

( December 1995 )

"SO YOU'RE REALLY GOING TO ASK HER?" Fred questioned George as they entered their class with Umbridge.

George nodded, "I mean, I've already sent a letter to our mother asking if it was alright so I might as well follow through, right?"

Fred nodded agreeing while taking his seat. "D'you need me for moral support?" George shook his head concluding their conversation as Ginger made a beeline for her seat. Opening his mouth to speak as she set her things down, he was interrupted but their dreadful professor speaking. George rolled his eyes with his twin and Ginger knowing their class was going to be awful, just as it had been for the past three months.

The anniversary of George realizing he had a crush on Ginger had only just passed the day they danced in the rain together. In all honesty, it was probably the most cliché thing for them to do together and for George to realize he had fallen in love with the girl didn't make it any better. But there truly wasn't a need to make it any better. He was in love with the girl who had been scribbling on her wrist beside him and that was all there was to it.

THE TRIOS D.A MEETING CAME SOON AFTER THEIR SHARED CLASS SO THEY "WALKED" THERE TOGETHER. Their walk consisted of George not asking Ginger what he and Fred had wanted to ask her and instead substituted the twins and Ginger racing all the way there. They of course won with their long legs that could beat Ginger in a race any time of day.

After settling in and setting their things down by a wall, Harry began speaking to the group of students. Once announcing they would be performing the stupify charm, groups and partners were formed to have a go at it individually as examples of what to and not to do.

Hermione and Ron were up to go against each other first. Groups formed in favor of who they believed would hit the other first, almost instinctively, more boys went to Ron's side while more girls went to Hermione's side.

Ginger and Alexander stood beside each other on Hermione's side full well knowing how incredible she was as a young witch.

"Don't worry, I'll go easy on you," Ron was heard whispering to Hermione.

She furrowed her brows at him. "Thanks, Ronald." Ginger and Alexander snickered from beside the exchange. Hermione turned her head at the duo with an incredulous look crossing her features while she shook her head lightly at the redhead.

They readied themselves raising their wands up and a slight nod from both parties initiated they were to begin.

"Stupify!" Hermione projected a spark from her wand and before Ron could even utter a single syllable, he was tossed back in the air with a small whimper.

Those on Hermione's side gathered around her congratulating her and giggling about. "Hermione, that was perfect!" Ginger gushed while hugging the girl. She shyly ducked her head giggling with Ginger while looking past the group that surrounded her. "He's not quite there is he?"

Hermione giggled shaking her head, "not really, no."

"Alright, next pair!" Harry announced looking amongst the students. Multiple people ducked their heads praying they wouldn't get picked. He maneuvered his head around avoiding those who hadn't wanted to be picked and finally he came up with the perfect pair.

"Ginger and Fred! Come on over!"

The boys around him clapped their hands on his back as encouragement while the girls around her simply nodded and gave her silent thumbs up. Finding their ways on opposite sides of the room while people separated themselves on the sidelines in the same manner they did for Hermione and Ron.

"I'll go easy on you!" Ginger laughed readying her wand in her hand.

Fred poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue shaking his head. "Don't even think about it!"

She shrugged, "alright." He raised his wand just as she had already done. They both nodded notifying the other was ready and in a moment's time, a spark flickered from Ginger's wand after shouting "stupify!" and Fred was thrown on his back getting the oxygen in his lungs knocked out.

Cheers in favor of her erupted as she clicked her heels in his direction. She stood looking down at him with her hands behind her back.

"Okay, maybe I should've had you go easy on me," he gasped taking her hand she had held out for him. Grabbing his wand from the floor, Fred pointed over to George, "and Georgina's got something to ask you."

Ginger giggled at the name, "Georgina?"

He nodded and swapped places with his carbon copy patting him on the back. "Go on and ask her, Georgina."

George groaned at the name, "I thought we were done with that name?"

Fred shook his head from beside Lee and Angelina, "never! Now ask her or I will."

George rolled his eyes while Ginger rocked back and forth of the balls of her feet. "Ask me what?" He stared into her starlight eyes feeling all concepts of fathomable words leave his brain. "George?"

Fred groaned loudly from his spot and George flipped him off with pinkish cheeks. "I was wondering if you'd..." She stared intently at him listening as he trailed off.

Fred, finally wanting to get the question out, took long strides over to the duo slinging an arm around his twin's shoulders. "We were wondering if you'd like to spend the holidays at the burrow?" Fred finally said. Ginger raised her brows at the question with multiple different responses running through her head.

"I'd love to." The boys whoo'd at her answer doing a little dance while people began to stare. "I'll have to send a letter back home but I'm completely on board with it." George whisked her into his arms with a small spin as she laughed at their excitement. This was bound to be quite the holiday break for Ginger and she didn't know if she was eager or nervous for that fact.
