CHAPTER LVII:
sleepover

( January 1996 )

SATURDAY CAME JUST AS QUICKLY AS THE DUO WOULD LIKE. Ginger stayed true to her promise, getting extra sleep that Friday so as soon as midnight struck she could be occupied with only Alexander. Though sleep was crucial to make Ginger function for more than a few hours, Alex was more important so she could spare a few hours.

"Now why did I agree to midnight?" Ginger groaned as Alexander pulled her out of bed by the wrists.

"No idea, really. I would have been fine with the morning but you already said it so here we are." He shrugged getting her to her feet. "What's first?"

Ginger rubbed her eyes thinking, "no Black Lake, it's too cold and too late. No Hogsmeade, it's too late, but we can do that later." Alex nodded. "We could have a sleepover in here because I know you're tired too." He nodded once more letting her back into her bed.

"What was it you wanted to tell me?" He began. Her brows raised at his question as he joined her sitting crisscrossed on the mattress. "When you ran up to me in the Great Hall, you said there was something I wouldn't believe. What was it?"

The spark in her eye had shone brightly as the thought flickered in her brain. Oh, the things she missed out on telling him over the holidays.

Ginger sprung up on her mattress, sleep plucked from her body and eagerness in its place.

"George... he- um- I- he was so- we-" she failed to put it into words for Alexander to understand. How did she even plan to tell him a few days ago? But Alexander only nodded with a grin forming on his features.

"Speak up, will you?" Alexander had only wanted to hear her say it out loud, to hear it for himself.

A hasty rush of words sputtered past her lips, if Alexander hadn't been expecting it he probably would have missed it but it still came as a surprise to both of them once she said it.

"I'm in love with George Weasley!" A hand slapped over her mouth once she put it out into the universe. She hadn't ever said those words out loud before. That she was in love with someone. She had said she loved many people but she had never been in love.

"About time," he laughed. Ginger's ears heated up as she lowered her hand sheepishly. "Well, go on and tell me what happened."

"We danced," she dreamily said while flopping back onto her pillows.

      Alexander furrowed his brows, "danced?"

"Yes, we danced! Listened to all my favorite songs in his room with him and we messily jumped around making fools of ourselves but we were fools together, Alexander!" Alex watched how she spoke about George. It was acute to anyone that she was indeed telling the truth about her feelings for the redheaded boy. "Oh! And I fell."

"You fell?"

"Yes, I fell for him and he caught me!" They both laughed at the lovestruck state she had quickly acquired for George. "But I quite literally fell and he caught me in his arms." They laughed once more eventually gossiping themselves to sleep. The two of them had quite the day ahead of them so they both needed their beauty sleep for all the things that were to come.
