Chapter 11
They all stepped cautiously into the bunker, its ceiling draped with countless spiderwebs hanging from the exposed pipes. Rey shuddered as a spider scurried across her foot, sending a chill through her body. Runy let out a soft hiss when a snake suddenly poked its head out from a fuse box near the door, its beady eyes glinting in the dim light. The air was thick with dust, and the unsettling sounds of scuttling creatures echoed around them, adding to the claustrophobic tension of the space.
Kylo stepped closer to Runy, his voice low and tense. "Are you sure he's here?" he asked, his eyes searching the shadows. Runy gave a slow nod. "He must be. The Force feels dark... and sickening in this place." Her voice trembled slightly as the oppressive energy around them seemed to thicken, pressing against their senses like an invisible weight.
Almost as if summoned by her words, a Death Trooper emerged from the shadows, blaster in hand. It moved with an unnatural stiffness, its armor glistening with dampness and an eerie stench of decay clinging to it. "Zombie," Runy spat, her voice full of disgust as she drew her lightsaber. Unlike the crimson blade of a Sith, hers ignited in a brilliant swirl of white and blue. In one swift, fluid motion, she slashed through the nearest trooper, its body crumpling to the ground as she took a step back, blade raised, ready for the next attack. Behind her, Kylo watched, momentarily startled by the sudden ferocity in her movements.
The others swiftly cut down the remaining Death Troopers as the doors to the bunker's central chamber groaned open. Runy held her lightsaber steady in front of her, its glow casting long shadows as her eyes met Luke's. Without a word, they stepped inside together, moving in unison.
As they entered, they saw Snoke, seated on a dark throne, his head bowed and resting in one hand, eyes closed in meditation. But behind him stood another figure. Cloaked, with a twisted, wrinkled face, and glowing yellow eyes that bore into them with a malevolent gaze. Runy froze instantly, her heart skipping a beat. She knew those eyes, could recognize them anywhere. Her father—Emperor Palpatine.
Palpatine's thin lips curled into a cruel smile. "Ah, my daughter, you've returned to me. How kind of you." His voice dripped with mockery and malice, sending a chill through the room. Runy's grip tightened on her lightsaber, but for the first time, she felt a tremor of doubt.
Behind her, Runy's friends stiffened, their eyes widening as they realized who stood before them. "Palpatine," Runy said coldly, her voice steady despite the storm of emotions roiling inside her. "I thought you were dead."
The Emperor let out a low, chilling chuckle, his yellow eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, my dear, death is only a temporary inconvenience for someone like me." He took a slow, deliberate step forward, his gaze never leaving her. "Did you really believe the Dark Side could be defeated so easily?"
Runy's jaw clenched, her lightsaber humming faintly in her hand as she faced the man she thought she had left behind forever.
Runy grunted, her grip tightening on her lightsaber as she leveled its glowing tip directly at her father. "Short-circuit his systems. Kill Snoke. I'll take care of him," she snarled, her voice filled with determination and defiance.
Kylo blinked, taken aback by her sudden command. "Master, you can't—" he began, but she cut him off with a sharp, piercing look, silencing him instantly. He sighed, reluctant but obedient, bowing his head in submission before turning to follow her orders.
Runy didn't look back. Her focus was locked on Palpatine, whose twisted smile grew wider as he watched her, amused by her defiance. The tension between them crackled like electricity, the air heavy with the unspoken battle that was about to begin.
Palpatine laughed, his voice a chilling echo in the chamber, and with a flick of his wrist, he unleashed a bolt of crackling Force lightning toward Runy. She ducked just in time, the energy sizzling past her. In one swift motion, she swung her lightsaber, meeting his crimson blade in a shower of sparks. Their sabers clashed with a fierce hum.
"You've grown strong, my child," Palpatine hissed, his voice full of dark amusement.
Runy gritted her teeth, pushing against his saber with all her strength. "Yeah, strong enough to defeat you," she shot back, her eyes blazing. "But you'll never be stronger than the Light. The Light Side will always win."
Palpatine's smile faltered for just a moment, his yellow eyes narrowing, but the dark power radiating from him still pulsed ominously. Runy stood firm, her grip unwavering, determined to end this once and for all.
Ruby then unleashed another swing of her saber, the blade humming with energy as she faced Palpatine. "Why have you stayed here, Father?" she demanded, her voice steady despite the chaos around them. With a flick of her wrist, she unleashed a blast of Force lightning, illuminating the dark chamber.
"You could have come home," she pressed, her eyes narrowing as Palpatine laughed, a chilling sound that echoed through the space. He coughed and retreated behind Snoke's throne, a sinister grin plastered on his face.
"As if you'd welcome me back, child," he mocked, his voice dripping with disdain.
Ruby felt a surge of anger and determination. "I may not welcome you, but I will stop you," she declared, stepping forward, ready to confront the darkness that had plagued her family for too long.
The air crackled with tension as she prepared for the inevitable clash, her friends rallying behind her, ready to support her in this pivotal moment. They all knew that this battle was not just for their survival, but for the fate of the galaxy itself.
"Keep him busy!" called Luke as he slipped through the shadows, his lightsaber igniting with a bright blue glow. The entire room darkened, the only light coming from Ruby's and Luke's glowing sabers, casting eerie shadows on the walls.
Ruby nodded, focusing her energy as she prepared to face Palpatine. "I won't let you manipulate us any longer!" she shouted, charging forward, her saber slicing through the air.
Palpatine's laughter echoed in the darkness. "You think you can defeat me? You're just a child playing with toys!" he taunted, raising his hands to unleash a wave of dark energy.
Luke moved swiftly, his agility allowing him to dodge the oncoming attack. "Ruby, keep him distracted! We need to find a way to weaken him!" he urged, his mind racing as he calculated their next move.
With determination, Ruby unleashed another blast of Force lightning, aiming to catch Palpatine off guard. "You've underestimated us for too long!" she yelled, her voice filled with fierce resolve.
The room crackled with energy, the clash of light and dark intensifying as they fought against the looming threat. Luke and Ruby stood united, ready to confront the darkness that had haunted their past.
The ground shook violently as Ruby screamed, her voice piercing through the chaos. "What's happening?" Hux shouted, his eyes wide with confusion.
Kylo stood frozen, his expression a mix of awe and fear, while Rey, Finn, and Luke turned to Ruby, their faces etched with concern. They watched in disbelief as the transformation unfolded before them.
Ruby's form began to morph, muscles rippling and scales glistening under the dim light. Black night spread across her wings as they snapped into the air, unfurling majestically. Her reptilian gaze locked onto Palpatine, filled with primal fury.
A deafening roar erupted from her throat, shaking the very foundations of the chamber. The Empress was gone, replaced by the monstrous dragon that Ruby had warned them about. The air crackled with energy, and the atmosphere shifted as the true power of the creature emerged.
Palpatine staggered back, his confidence faltering as he faced this new threat. "No! This is not how it ends!" he shouted, desperation creeping into his voice.
The others stood in stunned silence, realizing that Ruby had fully embraced her true nature. They felt a mix of fear and admiration for her strength. "We need to help her!" Luke urged, gripping his lightsaber tightly.
With renewed determination, they prepared to support Ruby in this battle against the darkness that had haunted them for so long. The clash of light and dark was far from over, but now they had a powerful ally in their fight.
Before anyone could react, the dragon lunged forward, her jaws snapping around Palpatine and crushing his bones with a sickening crunch. Yet, instead of fear or pain, Palpatine's face twisted into a grotesque smile. "Yes, strike me down, daughter, and you'll always have me with you. You'll always have the darkness inside," he taunted, his voice echoing in the chamber.
Ruby growled loudly, her voice resonating with power. "I'm always dark, I'm always light. I am the Grey Jedi. I am the Empress. I am the Force!" The declaration reverberated throughout the room, filling it with a palpable energy.
Then, with a swift motion, she snapped her jaws shut. Palpatine's body went limp, his life extinguished in an instant. The dragon lowered his lifeless form gently to the floor, a sense of finality settling over the chamber.
A sandstorm of emotions swirled in Ruby's eyes—rage, sorrow, and a profound sense of liberation. She had faced the darkness within her and emerged victorious, but at what cost? The weight of her actions pressed heavily on her heart, even as she felt the power of the Force coursing through her.
The room fell silent as her friends stared in awe and disbelief, the reality of what had just transpired sinking in. They had witnessed the end of a tyrant, but they had also seen Ruby transform into something extraordinary—and terrifying.
"Ruby..." Luke whispered, stepping forward cautiously. "Are you okay?"
Ruby's dragon form shimmered, and for a moment, her human eyes flickered back into view. "I... I'm here," she said, her voice a mixture of both her true self and the dragon. "But I need your help to find balance."
The group exchanged glances, understanding the journey ahead was only just beginning. Together, they would navigate the complexities of light and dark, united in their quest for peace in the galaxy.
Kylo stepped forward, followed closely by Hux, the tension of their previous rivalry set aside in the face of a greater threat. They understood that their personal conflicts paled in comparison to the bond they shared with Ruby, their queen.
"Ruby," Kylo said, his voice steady as he approached her massive form, "we're with you. We'll help you control this power." His gaze was filled with determination, ready to support her in whatever way she needed.
Hux nodded, his usual bravado replaced by a rare sincerity. "We may have our differences, but we all want the same thing: to end this darkness once and for all."
Ruby, still partially in her dragon form, felt a surge of gratitude at their support. "Thank you," she replied, her voice a blend of her human and dragon selves. "Together, we can find a way to harness this power and protect the galaxy."
As the group stood united, the remnants of Palpatine's reign lay scattered around them. They knew the path ahead would be fraught with challenges, but for the first time, they felt a sense of hope. With Ruby leading them, they were ready to confront whatever darkness awaited, forging a new destiny together.
In a flash of light, the dragon was gone, leaving only Ruby behind. Her clothes were tattered and torn, her hair a wild mess, but her eyes radiated warmth, despite the fatigue that lingered within them.
Bloom stepped forward, relief flooding his features. "I'm so glad you're back, Your Highness," he said warmly, pulling her close. Ruby smiled, leaning into him, finding comfort in his embrace.
Kylo approached next, his expression softening. "You did it, Master," he said, his voice filled with admiration. Ruby turned to him, and without hesitation, she hugged him tightly, grateful for his support.
One by one, the others joined in, surrounding her with their presence. Rey, Finn, and Luke wrapped their arms around her, forming a protective circle. "We're all here for you," Rey said softly, her eyes shining with understanding.
In that moment, Ruby felt the weight of her journey lift slightly. Together, they had faced the darkness and emerged stronger. She took a deep breath, looking at each of her friends, knowing they would continue to fight for a brighter future.
"Thank you all," she said, her voice steady. "With you by my side, I know we can face whatever comes next." The bonds of friendship and loyalty surrounded them, igniting a new hope for the galaxy.
